Rose woke with a start; sitting up right inside the tent while readying her weapon. She looked at the others; all of them were still fast asleep. She began to think about what to do next. At the moment she was holding an empty gun; yesterday before she joined the others inside the tent. She had looked into her bag and found some shotgun cartridges. It did cross her mind to load her weapon. But, she decided against it; just in case of an accidental discharge.

She spoke to herself, "What do I do?"

It was then she heard the sound of movement outside again. Whatever was out there walking in the woods around them. It sounded big and it was close by. Slowly, she outreached her hand to the zipper. With a gentle tug she began to gently unzip the tent. She stopped halfway to check and see if she had accidentally disturbed the others. She sighed quietly in relief when she noticed that all of them were still asleep. She eventually got the front of the tent open; and stepped outside. It was still dark out and the air was cold on her skin. She turned to zip the tent back up; only to be stopped by a sudden touch on her hand.

Dimmit asked, "You heard it too?"

Rose jumped back and almost hollered, "Jesus Christ!" she took in a few gasps of air; while Dimmit exited the tent while trying to get her to calm down. She glared at him and said, "What in the world are you doing up?!"

He answered, "The same reason why you're up."

At that moment they heard the sound again; this time it sounded closer. They then looked at each other and moved closer. They heard branches, twigs and leaf's being disturbed. They scanned the area around them. Trying to stay calm as their minds raced with various thoughts. They wondered what was out there? They assumed it was big due to all the noise that was being made. But, sound was known to travel; so they could be hearing an echo effect. At the same time they quickly ruled echo effect out. The sound they were hearing sound exactly like something was walking close by. Plus, the area around them was oddly quiet. There was no insect noises or nocturnal bird sounds. That meant whatever was walking; it was something no creature wanted to deal with.

Dimmit asked in a hushed tone, "What do we do?"

Rose thought for a moment before answering, "We hold our ground here."

He looked at her and questioned, "Really?" He saw her nod and then he commented, "Well forgive me for doubting your choice of action. But, if you haven't noticed we're currently sitting ducks right now."

She responded, "We wouldn't fair much better out their either."

He questioned, "How so?"

She explained, "It's completely dark out and at the moment we have no source of light. Whatever is out there can clearly see in the dark; that means it's nocturnal. And," She paused a moment as the movement was heard again. She waited for it to stop before she continued, "Whatever that is; possibly knows these woods in and out. That means no matter what we do it's got the upper-hand. "

The two were silent all they did was listen to the movement. Sometimes it would sound very close to camp; while other times it sounded like it was far away. Whatever was out there it was either circling their campsite or it was walking it's trails.

Dimmit spoke when the sounds stopped again, "Rose, that thing you said about us not having a light source."

She replied, "What about it?"

He answered, "That's not entirely true. I have a flashlight"

She turned to look at him; only to spot something looking down a them. She kept her eyes on it; she then heard him ask, "What is it?" she answered, "There's something behind you looking down at us," She could see a look of panic appear on his face; she quickly spoke to him, "Don't panic. Whatever it is; I don't think it's noticed that I've spotted it."

He took in a deep breath of air and slowly exhaled it before he asked, "What do you need me to do?"

She answered, "Just keep looking at me," he nodded and she continued, "Okay, here's what I need you to do. First do you already have the flashlight out?" She saw him nod and she explained her plan, "Alright, I need you to press the button on it; keep it pressed down and do not let it go yet," She watched him do as he was told and then she finished, "When you see me nod; turn around as fast as you can and shine the light at an angle." He nodded.

They were silent and then she nodded; immediately he turned and shined the flashlight. The light revealed something dark in the tree. It feel out of complete shock and landed on the ground hard. It yelled loudly in pain; waking the others. Dimmit did his best to keep his light on it. But, it got to it's feet and fled into the woods.

Dimmit yelled, "There it goes!" he then began to run after it.

Rose called out to him, "Dimmit, no! Get back here!" She then ran after him.

She tried her best to keep up with Dimmit as he chased after the thing. But, thanks to the darkness of the night. She was constantly tripping or almost running into something in front of her. She could hear the others calling out from behind her. But, at the moment she was focused on stopping Dimmit. For, all she knew the thing could be leading him into an ambush site. Maybe even to an area where another creature was. She tried to keep an eye on his flashlight; thankfully he still kept it on. The light did help keep him in her line of sight. But, with every trip and stumble it would get further and further away.

She yelled at him, "Dimmit!" She stumbled on another tree root; when she got herself steady she yelled again, "Dimmit, Stop! Damn it!"

It was then the light suddenly vanished it was followed by him suddenly screaming. That caused her to run faster; for all she knew he could have been attacked. As she ran she herself screamed out also; not because she was attack but because she fell. She was suddenly rolling down a small slope; only to suddenly crash right into Dimmit. Both of them groaning at the impact.

Dimmit stated, "It got away."

It was then Rose punched him causing him to groan in pain again. She then warned, "You do something that stupid again. I'm hitting you harder." She then looked around before asking, "Where's the flashlight?"

Said object was then thrown at her; she caught and thanked him, "Thanks, Dimmit."

Dimmit replied, "Rose, I'm still on the ground. How could I have thrown that?"

Her eye's went wide in shock as she stared down at the flashlight in her hands. Slowly she pressed the button and turned the light back on. She began to shake a little as she pointed it in front of them. The light slowly crept forward; before it landed on something tall, gray and scaly. She continued to lift the light up; eventually it came to rest on a fierce looking face of a dragon.

Rose yelled, "What in the!" She didn't get to finish for the others had suddenly slammed into her. She then commented, "If anything else would like to fall on me; please do it now!"

It was then the dragon roared causing all of them to scream out in fear as they got to their feet. This time it was Daffodil who managed to get the flashlight. He waved it around like an idiot a couple of times. Trying his best to find the dragon that had just roared; when he did it threatened all of them with a low growl. Forcing all of them to stand completely still.

Duck asked, "Rose, what are we gonna do?"

Rose answered, "Just stay calm everyone," She focused her gaze on the dragon in front of them; hearing it give off another growl. She then continued, "Don't give it a reason to attack."

Smokey looked at her and said, "Rose, that is a freaking dragon! I don't know about you; but the last book I read made them out to be actual cold blooded killers."

The dragon growled again and then spoke, "If I wanted to kill you; I would've done it already."

All of them looked at it stunned into complete silence. The dragon had just talked! It had just talked and they understood it. It was then another roar was heard; followed by the sound or rapidly approaching footsteps. Another dragon soon joined stood by the gray one; it's scales were brown in color and it had what appeared to be a police badge hanging around it's neck.

It then spoke, "Maverick, what's going on?"

The one known as Maverick turned and replied, "Bryce sir, I was out on night patrol. When these humans suddenly appeared out of no where."

Apple commented, "At least he knows what we are."

Maverick growled at her and said, "Of course I know what you are. I may not have seen a human before; but, I've read plenty of books about your kind."

Bryce spoke, "Take it easy, Maverick," The gray dragon stopped it's growling. He then looked at the humans and spoke, "Don't be afraid; we're cops, we're here to help," He watched as they continued to stand as still as statues. After a prolonged period of silence he spoke again, "My name is Bryce."

Each of them looked back and forth at each other; before they focused on Rose. She looked at them and nodded. She took a few steps forward; stopping just in front of the two. She then reached for her gun and removed it from the holster. She heard Maverick growl again causing her to look up.

She explained, "I'm only taking my weapon out and setting it on the ground," Slowly she unholstered her gun and set it on the ground. She then used her foot to kick it away from her; before she lifted her arms up and spoke, "My name is Rose and this is my team."

Maverick questioned, "Team of what exactly?"

She answered, "That I'm not sure of," She then explained, "None of us remember what happened to us before we met each other. A few hours ago I woke up in the middle of field not too far from here," She then moved her head towards Dewberry, "He found me shortly after and then we found the others at the campsite."

Bryce questioned, "What campsite?"

She answered, "The others had set up came just back from the way we came. It should still be standing," She then pointed behind herself to her right, "The field I woke up in is back over there."

Bryce had an intrigued look come upon his face before he asked, "How did you know I was going to ask that?"

She answered, "I didn't. I guessed that you were about to ask me that."

He nodded before he looked at Maverick and said, "Take them back to the station."

Maverick nodded before responding, "Yes, sir."

Bryce then looked back at them and said, "Please, follow Maverick back to the station. Don't worry about your items; when Sebastian gets here. Me and him will gather them up and bring them to you."

She nodded before turn to the others, "Do as he says okay," They looked at her as she walked forward, "Come on, let's go."

Each of them nodded as they followed both her and the dragon. Maverick lead them down a country road; the dirt and various rocks crunching underneath their feet. As the group walked the trail; Dimmit moved closer to Rose.

He then whispered, "Rose."

She turned her head slightly and whispered back, "What is it Dimmit?"

He answered, "That thing I was chasing earlier; I can tell you right now it was not that dragon."

She asked, "Okay, then what was it?"

He looked at the dragon; making sure he hadn't drawn attention to them. When he saw that the dragon had not noticed their conversation he answered, "It looked human."

She looked at him in surprise; was there another human in those woods. If so; why were they looking at them from a tree? Her mind raced with many questions. But, then she began to wonder; should she tell the dragon in front of them? As they walked further down the road she nodded to herself; before walking closer to the dragon.

She spoke to him, "Maverick?"

He answered her in a snappy tone, "Yes, what is it?"

She replied, "Before we ran into you. We were chasing something."

Maverick rolled his eyes and responded, "Probably just a."

She interrupted him, "I believe it was another human."

He stopped before turning to look at her. He growled loudly before he asked, "Why didn't you mention this before?"

She answered quickly, "Shock. During out brief encounter I had temporarily forgotten what we were chasing. I'm sorry I didn't mean to forget that piece of information."

He growled at her again; before he turned around. It was then something else was approaching them. It appeared to be another dragon but this one was way different from the other two. It stood on two legs and wore a police cap; it's scales were brown like Bryce.

He called out to the dragon, "Sebastian!"

The dragon stopped just in front of him and responded, "Yes, Maverick."

Maverick informed him, "When you meet up with Bryce; let him know there may be another human in the area."

Sebastian nodded and responded, "Yes, sir." He then continued down the path.

The group then continued walking eventually they entered a small town; it's streets dark and void of life. The dragon lead them to a large building; once inside each of them were photographed and processed. Before being placed inside separate cells. None of them knew what time it was. All they wanted was to return to sleep. When they rested their bodies on the beds in their cells; eventually they did return to sleep.

The sun rose a short time later; its rays bringing light to the nights darkness. Rose stirred a little in her sleep before she woke from her slumber. She groaned a little as she stretched herself out; yawning a little in the process. It was then she heard three taps at her cell; she looked up and saw Bryce standing in front of her cell.

He smiled and greeted her, "Good morning, sleep well?"

She smiled back and answered, "I slept good; considering that it might have been my first night in jail."

Bryce chuckled a little before stepped to the side; it was then the dragon known as Sebastian walked up to the cell. There was a key ring in his hand. He lifted the ring up and selected a key; he inserted the key into the cell door. With single click the door was slowly pulled open.

She asked, "Something going on?"

Bryce answered, "As promised me and Sebastian brought your bags from your campsite. But, I should warn you; when we found it. It looked like it had been ransacked."

Shocked by the information she asked him, "What do you mean? What happened?" She then walked out of the cell.

Sebastian was the one to answer, "We're not sure. After I met up with Bryce I told him about the possibility of another human in the woods," He paused a moment before he thanked her, "Thank you for that information by the way," He then continued explaining what happened, "We searched the woods for an hour or two. Before we went to the campsite; we found various trails of footprints and some odd trash that was left out there. But, we were unable to find another human. When we got to your camp; the tent was destroyed. Some of the camping gear was missing and your bags were open. But, from what we saw nothing appeared to be missing."

Rose commented, "If our bags were open; that means there is something missing," She asked, "Can you take me to my bag; I can tell you if there really is anything missing."

Sebastian nodded and lead her to the lobby of the precinct. Bryce followed behind them; after he had closed the door to the cell. It didn't take them long to reach the lobby; she saw the others already going through their bags. She saw hers and walked up to it; she unzipped it and began to look through it. Sure enough there was something missing.

She stood up and said, "My PDA is missing." The others nodded before confirming that theirs were missing as well.

Bryce asked, "What's a PDA?"

Apple answered, "Think of it as an upgraded notebook. You take notes, download maps, set schedules. It's pretty much a digital assistant."

Sebastian looked intrigued by the information; before he could ask anything. Maverick walked in. when he saw the humans he growled loudly.

He asked, "Why are they out of their cells?!"

Bryce answered, "Calm down, Maverick. I let them out."

He replied, "You what?

Bryce repeated, "I let them out," He then explained, "If camping in the woods is suddenly a crime; then I would have to go ahead and arrest half of this town," He then smiled, "Don't worry; I know we've just met them. But, I don't think they're a threat to any of us."

Hearing that caused all of them to smile in relief. After everything had settled; they continued to look through their bags. Thankfully, nothing else was missing and they still had some clothes for them to change into. They then picked up their bags and looked at Bryce.

Rose asked, "Does this building have an area where we can change in private?"

Maverick asked, "Why can't you just change here?"

She answered, "Because, unless privacy has no meaning here. Me and the other two would not like to have seven men staring at our almost naked bodies as we change."

Before Maverick could say anything Bryce spoke, "Don't worry we have some locker rooms here that are currently empty," He turned to Sebastian and spoke, "Sebastian, can you please take them to the locker rooms."

Sebastian nodded and replied, "Yes sir."

He walked towards the humans and motioned for them to follow him. They followed him down two different hallways; before he stopped in front of two doors. The door had two images of dragons on them; they didn't look too different. That was until Sebastian pointed at the one at the left.

He then explained, "That one is the womans locker room," He turned and looked at the three females of the group, "You three can change in there," He then pointed to the door on the right, "That's the mens'," He looked at the four males, "You four can change in there."

Each of them nodded and entered the locker rooms. Before Rose disappeared into the room with the other two girls. She turned and looked back at Sebastian. She smiled and said, "Thank you."

He nodded at her comment and then walked away. She then entered and closed the door to the room. After a few minutes the humans emerged from the room wearing new clothing. Rose had on a bikers jacket along with faded blue jeans and a white shirt. She also had on a different pair of boots; they looked similar to a construction workers boots. Smokey, wore mainly camouflage clothing along with matching shoes. Both Apple and Dewberry wore country side style clothing. Daffodil's clothing was very colorful; the shirt he wore was tie-dyed and his pants matched with his shirt. Over his shirt he wore a tie-dyed hoodie. On his feet he wore sandels rather than normal shoes. The twins also wore matching clothing; Dimmit wore mainly black clothing but, he wore it all underneath a massive trench coat. While Duck who also wore black clothing; wore a large hooded cloak that covered half her body.

All of them then walked back to the lobby; where they saw Bryce waiting patiently for them. He smirked and then commented, "You all look good."

The comment caused a few of them to blush in embarrassment. He then walked up to Rose and tilted his head down. On his back she saw her weapon; she smiled as she reach for it and removed it from his back. Before she fastened it back around her waist.

She thanked him, "Thank you."

He nodded before he turned away and began to walk towards the entrance. He stopped and looked at them before saying, "Come on. While all of you were changing I found y'all a place to stay."

They looked at each other and smiled happily; before they followed him out of the building. The group now walked through streets filled with various dragons of height, color and species. They saw more than a few dragons staring at them in awe. It did make them feel a little uneasy. After a few minutes of walking they eventually found themselves standing in front of a large home. In front of the building was a white dragon that wore round rimmed glasses and a red tie.

The dragon looked at Bryce and smiled before greeting him, "Hello, Bryce."

Bryce smiled back and replied, "Hello, Remy," he then asked, "Is this place ready?"

Remy nodded and answered, "Yes, just finished actually," He then looked at the humans and asked, "Are these the humans you mention?" He saw Bryce nod; he then looked at the group, smiled and then he greeted them, "Hello, my name is Remy a pleasure to meet all of you."

The each smiled and nodded Rose replied, "A pleasure to meet you as well Remy. I'm Rose.

Smokey introduced himself, "Name's Smokey."

Daffodil was next, "Nice to make your acquaintance, I'm Daffodil.

The twins were next; Duck introduced herself first, "I'm Duck," Dimmit was next, "And, I'm Dimmit." Both of them then finished, "Nice to meet you."

Apple introduced herself next, "I'm Apple. Happy to meet you."

Dewberry finished the greet, "And, I'm Dewberry."

Remy smiled happily before he said, "Happy to make a good first impression," He then informed them, "If any of you need any information you can find me at the library. I'll be more than happy to help." Each of them nodded before he turned and walked away.

Bryce then spoke, "All of you can stay in this home for the time being. If you need anything just let me know." He began to walk away but Apple stopped him.

She spoke, "Bryce?"

He replied, "Yes, Apple."

She asked, "If not too much trouble; can you take us back to our campsite later? I bet you got some of your department investigating the area already. But, I'm sure we'd like to help." The others nodded in agreement.

He thought for a moment and then he nodded, "I'll send Sebastian to pick all of you up later. Until then get some rest okay." They nodded and then he turned and left as they entered the home.

The home itself was very large; it was possibly made for dragons. Each of them checked the home out until finally settling down in the living room. They sat in silence for a moment; each of them just staring at the other. Dimmit broke the silence with a sigh.

He then spoke, "Okay," They looked at him and he continued, "I'm only assuming that while y'all were changing clothes; each of you also found something that you didn't notice before."

Daffodil asked, "What do you mean?"

Dimmit answered by standing up and pulling out not one but two strange looking hand buzz-saws. They had two triggers on them and they also had strange markings. He set them on the table and looked at the others. They stared at him and then at each other; before they nodded and revealed what they had. Smokey not only had a large knife; he also had a necklace knife and a machete. Apple had a large see through flask that had a strange yellow liquid in it. She also had a pair of brass knuckles. Rose had placed her shotgun on the table along with another weapon; it looked like a knife but it was also shaped like a boomerang. Daffodil had a broken pair of binoculars, a map, a compass, and a nightstick that had a large button on it. Dewberry had a fold-able compound bow and a small bag filled with marbles. Duck shocked the group when she pulled out not one but two six shooter pistols. Like her brothers they also had strange markings on them.

They sat in silence once again; each of them staring at the items on the table in front of them. They looked at one another; possibly hoping to find an answer. But, no answer came; only more questions.

Rose stood up and spoke, "Okay, what do we know?" She began to pace as she spoke out loud, "None of us remember anything prior to waking up yesterday," They nodded and she continued, "As we slept something was watching us and whatever it was; possibly went back to our camp and stole our PDA's,"They nodded again as she turned and finished, "Now, here we are and not only do we have more questions than answers. We also have different weapons on us; weapons that we had no idea that we had. Just until recently while we were at the police station," She turned and faced the group before asking, "Are we all on the same page here?" They each nodded before she sat down.

Duck then asked, "What do you think that message meant?" They looked at her and she explained, "The one from PDA's before they shut off."

Daffodil spoke, "No, idea." He brought a hand up to his forehead as he tried to think, "Make this right. What exactly are we supposed to make right?"

Each of them thought to themselves for a moment; a lot of things had happened to them that their minds were still trying to process. The other human in the woods, running into dragons, and now the gear none of them had discovered before hand. It was all so confusing and it was also giving them a headache. They each sighed in frustration before deciding just to rest and wait for Sebastian. They hoped he would come soon. Hopefully, there were some answers to be found out their campsite.
