A/N: by Stefan/Lexi's POV it'll be a week after the interview so that's why they are headed to the airport and arriving to mystic falls either next chapter or the chapter after the next
Elena does everything she can to pass the time. She cleaned her room, her mom's room and Jenna's room but the time is moving by so slowly still. Elena ran her hands through her hair and sighed while setting the mop down in the kitchen. "come on come on come on" she whispered into the air.
She looks at the clock again and a smile slowly spreads across her face like wildfire. She ran back upstairs and turned on the T.V turning to channel 25. 30 more seconds, she thought, 3..2..1. Soon after she hit one, a gorgeous brown-skinned woman was shown on the screen sitting with her legs crossed. Her smooth, long legs stopped at the perfect black Jimmy Choos she was wearing. "Good morning everyone and welcome to 'the Bennett show'. Today we're here with a very special guest star, Mr. Stefan Salvatore!" The audience stood up and cheered as the camera panned toward the walkway and Stefan jogged out, blowing kisses every which way. Elena scooted up to sit on the edge of her seat and screamed and clapped as if she is there with them
Bonnie got up to give Stefan a hug "Good Morning Bonnie, nice to see you again" he said softly, a small smile tugging at his lips
"likewise Mr. Salvatore" Bonnie replied with a huge grin on her face. Once the audience died down Bonnie began speaking again "so we all know you are the teenage heartthrob of this generation" small cheers erupted from the audience, Stefan chuckled and put his head down "what motivated you to write the type of music that you write now?"
He straightened the collar on his expensive looking suit and cleared his throat "well uh I've been through alot of shit, you know? so I think along the way of going through half of that and then more shit coming at me along the way I just decided, Hey if I can't fix this the way I want to then I'm going to try to overcome it the only way I know how..singing" he smiles shyly and fixed his gaze on the camera "I sing for everyone out there who's experienced hard times and the people who have survived it"
Elena put her hand over her heart "awww" she said to the T.V. "So Mr. Salvatore, we have a bunch of fans completely falling head over heels for your new song titled 'trainwreck'" Elena smiled at how touching the preview of that song was and how it made her want to reach out and hug him tight
Stefan cleared his throat and sat up straighter "yes I heard" he chuckled "I uh see so many fan posts on instagram and twitter, telling me how relatable my songs are and I think to myself uh I'm doing it, you know? I'm reaching out to people who's experienced what I've experienced and I'm helping them get through it" Elena nearly hugs the T.V at the thought of him going through extreme heartbreak
"And might I ask, what gave you the inspiration to write such a raw, openly emotional song?" Bonnie asks
Elena turns up the volume and sits back in her desk chair, completely invested in this interview. "I've been through some stuff with my ex. I won't say any names but she was uh what I thought to be, the love of my life. We planned a future, we talked about marriage and yeah I'm 16 but it's stuff that us teens think about" Elena heard a lot of "awws" and small claps from the audience. She's staring at the screen with tears grazing over her eyes. "She broke me and broke me bad. She made me feel like I wasn't worthy enough for the love of anyone. I took that pain and I told myself that I won't let it take away anymore of my life. Our relationship was a trainwreck" The audience clapped and shouted. The camera panned over many people sniffling and wiping their tears
Elena wiped her tears. He's been through a lot and even though she's probably been through a lot worse, pain is still pain and from his music she can tell that he's in pain. Elena snapped out of her thoughts at the sound of Bonnie's voice
"What do you have planned for the next few months Mr. Salvatore?" Bonnie asked
"Actually Bonnie, my best friend and I have decided that we want to give back and-" The crowd burst into a fit of cheers and applause. Stefan laughs and waits for them to calm down "and in order to do that we need places to give back to, so we were searching and searching and we decided…." he trailed off as Elena's ears focused on her house phone ringing down the hall. She smacks her teeth and sighs heavily. After she threw her silent fit she got up and turned her T.V up before walking down the hall
"Hello" Elena answered politely
She heard a cheerful squeal on the other side of the phone and automatically knew who it was. She playfully rolled her eyes and smiled
"Care why the hell did you call my house phone?" she teased
Caroline chuckled "because it was the quickest, omg did you see him?" Elena raised an eyebrow at herself
"you mean Stefan?" she questioned
"duh the interview, he looked so good in that Armani suit" Caroline practically just fangirled over "teen heartthrob" Stefan Salvatore
"are you feeling okay?" Elena half joked "you told me he was just a teenheartthrob that will never notice me and now your squealing into my phone about him" she was very confused now
"well yeah he's a teenhearthrob buuut he's still amazingly talented" she said excitedly "and , even I can appreciate a good looking man" she mocks
"wait what do you mean?" Elena asked quickly
"I got to go, mom is bitchin right now" Caroline hung up and Elena quickly ran back into her, room
"what do you plan on doing once you reach your destination" Bonnie curiously questioned Stefan
what destination? Elena wondered "what the hell did I miss" she yelled out loud to no one. She turned the T.V up to 70 even though it was already loud enough for the neighbors to hear. She sat down in her chair and listened closely
"We plan on staying there for a month or two hoping to help rebuild the orphanage that we bought. We want those kids to have a nice place to live. They deserve that much. Between doing that, we'll also be donating to various homeless shelters and animal shelters and we'll also be visiting local high schools to perform at their fundraisers" Elena felt a ping of jealousy wash over her, Those kids are very lucky to be meeting him
"That's all for today guys, thank you so much for tuning in and make sure to keep yourself updated on Stefan's trip to Mystic Falls and what you could do to help" Bonnie and Stefan wave to the crowd then get up and give each other one last hug before the camera fades out
Elena's heart drops to her feet. Did she just say Stefan Salvatore and mystic falls in the same sentence? She screamed at the top of her lungs and bolted down the stairs, "mom" she peeked around the kitchen corner. "mom!" she yelled louder
"Out here" her mom yelled from the backyard. She ran to the backyard, tripping over a chair in the process and letting out an 'oomph' as the breath was knocked out of her.
"Be careful Elena" her mom lectured. Maranda Gilbert was kneeling in the garden putting in a lot of work on her dying garden. She had given up on it but she knows that now is the time to do better . Last year she had lost the yard of the year contest but this year she is bound to win front and back yard
Elena apologized as her cheeks burned from embarrassment. She picked the chair back up and continued "mom guess what's happening next week" her mom looked up from her garden and raised an eyebrow "Stefan freaking Salvatore is coming here" her mom tilts her head to the side, confused. "Oh mom don't even" Elena looks at her mom, completely mortified at the fact that she doesn't even know who Stefan is
"Is that the little singing boy you scream about?" Miranda ducked her head again and continued to work on her garden. She nods her head and shrieks, causing her mom to slightly jump and knock over the watering can
"I'm sorry" Elena stifled a laugh and bent down to pick up the watering can. Miranda looks at Elena and smiles softly "Elena this isn't normal you know?" now it's Elena's turn to look at her mother, confused on the sudden topic change "he's a celebrity and your-" Elena rolls her eyes and huffs a breath of annoyance before cutting the sentence short
"a normal girl who he will never notice?" Elena questioned. Miranda nodded and tried to open her mouth to speak but Elena beat her to it "I know mom, okay? I'm a normal girl who lost her dad at 10 years old and used music to cope because her family pushed her away. A normal girl who is just a huge fan of a celebrity who saved her life. There are so many other teenage girls out there like me who love other celebrities so what makes me so different?" Elena exhaled roughly, letting out a breath she didn't even know she was holding. She's tired of people acting as if she's not allowed to be a fangirl. She's a normal teenage girl who wants nothing more than to meet her favorite celebrity
Miranda looked at Elena, tears fighting to leave her eyes "honey, i didn't mean it like that"
"sure you did. I'll be in my room if you need me" Elena pivoted on her heels and ran up the stairs before the tears started streaming down her face. She ripped the posters down from her wall and ripped them into pieces. She threw them into the trash bin and sat down on the bed with a huff, I'm done with this she thought to herself
Lexi barged into the dim lit room and opened the curtains, letting the sun hit the half naked body that's lying on the bed "wake up Stef"
Stefan stirred but refused to wake up. He opened one eye and groaned as he saw Lexi standing there with her suitcases in hand. "Let me sleep" he said groggily. Lexi laughed and shook her head "I wish I could but we have to get to the airport in" she checked her watch and sighed "30 minutes"
Stefan shot up out of bed and scrambled to the bathroom "What the hell Lex" she giggled and looked out the window, watching the bushes sway back and forth. It looked so peaceful outside
She walked up the steps and sat on the porch before taking her earphones out and setting them down beside her. She looked up into the morning sky and noticed how beautifully blue the sky was, how the white clouds make the sky look gorgeous and how the blue background made the sky look absolutely amazing
"Hey Lex" a boy said as he came out of the house holding two water bottles and a pack of crackers. Lexi looked up at him and smiled softly, her big blue eyes shining brightly
"Hey Stefan" he sat down beside her and held out one of the water bottles. She grabbed it, her fingers brushing over his palm
Stefan looks up, shielding his eyes from the sun so he can look at the beauty of the sky "The sky looks beautiful" he mentioned after a long silence. She nodded and looked at him "what does it remind you of?" she suddenly asked, not sure of where this conversation is going
he looked back down and inhaled sharply "The blue of the sky reminds me of your eyes" he said softly, he didn't look up because he didn't want to see her reaction to his words. He caught himself thinking about her a lot, he didn't know if it was because she was the first person to talk to him when he got here or if was because of the 13 year old hormones but he wanted more than this friendship he had with her "and the beauty of it all, the clouds and the sky, remind me of you" he added just above a whisper
She gasped loudly causing him to look up to try and see her reaction but she looked away. She didn't want him to see her crying. She liked him too and she knows it's way more than a friend thing but she can't think about that right now. They are both so damaged and the last thing they need is to ruin something so great
"Stef-" she tried to tell him that this can't happen. That they can't be anything, not right now but he cut her off
"I know Lex I know but just know that I feel something for you, ok?" she nodded and sniffled. Stefan lifted his hand and wiped the tears from her eyes with the pad of his thumb
Lexi was snapped out of her daydreaming by a loud clap "Lexi! are you listening?" Stefan was snapping and clapping in front of her face. She looked him over and saw that he was dressed and ready to go
"yeah sorry I guess I kind of zoned out" she replied while shaking her head. "uh packed?" he looked at her for a few minutes with concern on his face but he didn't think much of it. While she was zoned out he put his bags into the car already so they just needed to pack hers
"yeah let's go" he grabbed her bags and marched out of the room with Lexi hot on his heels. Lexi closed the door behind them and locked it, making sure to set the alarm just in case a certain someone tries to pay an unwanted visit
Stefan opened the passenger side door so she could get in. Once she was in he jogged to his side and hopped into the car, started the engine and backed out
He grabbed her hand and smiled "whatever you're thinking about, don't" she looked at him and furrowed her eyebrows "these 2 months are for us to connect with the world and each other, you're my best friend Lexi, don't forget that"
"Yeah..best friend" she mumbled under her breath and sighed heavily. Stefan looked at her like a confused puppy. What is that supposed to mean? He never neglected her or anything so what did he do wrong?
"what do you mean?" he glanced at her quickly and saw that she was trying to hide her face from him. "Lex stop!" he shouted, she jumped slightly and uncovered her face "tell me what's bothering you"
Lexi exhaled and sat up straighter "nothing I was just thinking about the old days before all of this" she gestured to the fancy car and fancy clothes
Stefan nodded and sighed "I know but we're still us no matter how much money we have or how many cameras are on us. We're a team, we always will be. Things have never been complicated between us and we don't do awkward silence. I refuse to do it now" she nodded and smiled softly "I love you Lex"
"I love you too" after a long comfortable silence she connected her phone into the aux and played Miley Cyrus's 'party in the USA' . She plays this song everyntime they are in the car together and he can't stand it. He rolls his eyes and groans loudly to make sure she knows how he feels about this song
She waits until her favorite part then sings loudly "my tummy's hurting and I'm feeling kinda homesick too much pressure and I'm nervous" then holds her fist up to Stefan as a pretend microphone. He glared at her sideways "no way" he took one hand off of the steering wheel to slightly push her fist away from him
Lexi paused the song and pleaded with him, fake pouting and staring at him with the best puppy dog eyes she could possibly do. After 5 minutes he finally caved. Five is the longest he ever lasted when she uses the puppy dog eyes against him. She smiled widely "yesss" she celebrated her success in getting him to cave
"you are so lucky that you're my best friend" They both laughed before Lexi played the song again and pushed the faux microphone into his face
He chuckled and played along with her "and the Jay-Z song was on...and the Jay-Z song was on"
"And the Jay-Z song was on" They both closed their eyes and sang at the same time, making each other burst out into side numbing laughter
