The Battle:
Forced Back:
Mira was at the head of the Sixers, heading back towards Terra Nova after whatever was in the Badlands had been destroyed by some well-placed weapons fire from the sky. She saw the ships and knew that the Protectors were here and were about to finish the war. She kept her smile to herself and those that she knew to be spies among the Sixers. There were ten of them in all, mostly because it had been easier to take the deal of the Protectors after seeing what they could do. The ten of them would be able to see their families as soon as the P.G. was taken care of. Take out the P.G. and you take out there plans as well.
They knew that they had been followed by the soldiers of Terra Nova but most didn't pay any attention to them. They wanted it to look like they didn't know that they were being watched. Mira knew of the powers that Protectors had. She knew that they had the ability to bring people back to life and that if they had found Lt. Wash's body they most likely had it in one of their ships in a stasis pod, keeping her alive as much as possible. The Lieutenant had been shot in the head and then her body had been moved out of the way. The P.G. hadn't even noticed when her body disappeared from Terra Nova; they just figured someone had buried her. Mira knew differently. She had helped the Protectors move Wash's body to where they could get her to their ship and then had moved back to be near Lucas. There was no way she was going to be fingered as a traitor in the midst of the P.G.'s darkest hour for fear of being killed.
To Terra Nova:
The P.G. was stopped from going further into the Badlands by the well-placed weapons fire that destroyed anything that they had been looking for. So they were headed back, back towards where they no longer had control of the settlement, back to where they would most likely be killed just by entering into the clearing headed towards Terra Nova. Lucas was with them, though he had multiple bullets in him and on the back of a rover that they had managed to keep.
There was something in the way the rest of their people acted that told them that they had somehow acquired the spies as well as the rest of the Sixers. There was no telling who the spies were amongst the Sixers until the pivotal point. They would only know who the spies were when they crossed the line of friend to enemy of the P.G. and that line could only be crossed when they got back to Terra Nova. They also knew that whoever had fired the weaponry at the Badlands would most likely be at Terra Nova, waiting to start the end of the battle. This was one step that they had wanted to come back to. They didn't know who was angry enough to destroy the Badlands but knew that it probably had something to do with warning that had been given the P.G. before they had sent the Sixers to Terra Nova.
At The Gates:
Commander Taylor and Jim Shannon were still looking at the girl in the quad when the shout from one of the guard towers brought their attention to the long line of Sixers and Phoenix Group Members headed towards the gate. They were supposed to be moving towards the Badlands. Had something happened to force them to try and take Terra Nova back from those that rightfully belonged? They sure as hell weren't going to allow the Phoenix Group from taking Terra Nova once again. They would fight back no matter what. If only Lt. Wash was there to fight right alongside of them, but she wasn't, (well at least that they knew of). The girl seemed to be anticipating the arrival of the group and even though they couldn't see what she was saying, they could distinctively see that she was signaling something in the sky.
The group of enemies came to a stop about five feet from the gate. Mira saw the girl in the quad and knew her to be a Protector since she was the one that had gotten her to flip on the P.G. She turned and looked at the other spies who were also looking at the girl. They also knew her. With a nod of her head, Mira took notice of the other spies and wondered when they would be able to join the Protectors in getting rid of the P.G. once and for all and those that still held loyalties to the group. Most of the Sixers wanted nothing to do with the settlement of Terra Nova and would stay with the P.G. until they were either destroyed or taken prisoner.
Liberating Our Allies:
I stood in the center of the quad. I had signaled to the ships that our Allies were to be liberated from the P.G. and the Sixers. The ten spies we had amongst the group were first beamed up to the ship that was now visible to the people of Terra Nova and the P.G. then beamed back down to the quad, where they took their places next to me. Spies or not, they had been our spies and shown us what the P.G. and the Sixers had been doing every time they had gotten in touch with the Red Army back in 2149. It was easy to see why they had taken our side over the P.G. and even though they had been enemies of Terra Nova, they would have to learn how to acclimate themselves into living here once again with the family members that we had taken from 2149 after the P.G. went back on their agreements to take care of the families.
Mira and the nine other spies we had within the Sixers were now standing next to me and even though they were enemies of those that lived in Terra Nova, they took the side of the Protectors every day. The iron gun on my wrist activated almost immediately and I pulled my arm up to aim it at the P.G. and the rest of the Sixers. I moved forward till I was standing just in front of the gate, which was closed. I aimed and getting the target I had been looking for (the rover Lucas was on) I pulled the trigger and a blast of energy shot from the weapon, hitting the rover and exploding it where it had come to a stop. I saw Lucas' body fly into the air and over the fence landing in the middle of the quad. I looked back at Mira who bent down and felt for a pulse. She looked back up and shook her head.
Explanations:
Commander Taylor and Jim Shannon had come down from what remained of the command tower. They saw the remains of Lucas laying on the ground and Mira who had stood back up. The girl was still at the gate and Mira was about to move next to her when Commander Taylor grabbed her arm. The explaining was about to begin as Mira and the other Sixers knew that they would have to tell them what had been really going on.
"What is going on Mira?"
"Her name is Ginta; she is one of the Protectors. Before we came to Terra Nova, they came to each of us and asked us to be there spies amongst the Phoenix Group. We took their offer over the P.G. because they showed us what they could do. They protect this planet and all that live on it. The P.G. and the rest of the Sixers will be destroyed in this final battle."
"And why should we believe you after all that has happened?"
"Because, the only reason we were even working with the P.G. and the Red Army was because they promised to expunge our records back in 2149 and promised to take care of our families that we had to leave behind. When Ginta and her people came to us and asked us to spy for them, they showed us what they were capable of and we agreed. It was easier than we thought, spying on the P.G. and lying to everyone else at the same time. Then Ginta came to us and told us that our families had been abandoned and that they were being removed from the year 2149 and would be living on one of the many ships that the Protectors use to make sure people are safe. They have my daughter safely onboard one of their ships."
"And now what exactly are we supposed to do with you?"
"You can help and stand next to us as we take them out!" Mira said pointing to the P.G., Red Army and the rest of the Sixers.
"That we could probably do, but we are going to have to finish talking later."
"Fine."
