CHAPTER 2: TV...
I've watched the first 4 episodes of Final Space season 3 and realized that my story is super different to the show lol. Oh well though, I'm just going from the last episode of season 2. Also, sorry I didn't update in a while, I've been busy with school work. I'll be updating more frequently from now on.
Thanks for all the favourites, followers and reviews! It makes my day! :)
Here's chapter 2!
Little Cato walked through the door that led to the hallway which led to his own room. Little Cato smiled smugly as he thought about it. After a particularly large fight, he had with Fox yesterday. Everyone decided that he and Fox should have separate rooms. So now Fox slept in Clarence's old bedroom, while he got to stay in his and Fox's old room, but now he was all by himself.
Although he would slightly miss their pointless fights, he believed it was for the best. With the ship being so full, it was hard to get much alone time, but now Little Cato could just go into his room whenever he wanted to be alone.
Little Cato then arrived in his room and climbed up the ladder to his bed before he lay down on his back.
He soon began to think back to his talk with Avocato. After his dad had been possessed by Invictus, Little Cato had begun to question if his dad really did love him but now he was sure he did. He even actually told him. Little Cato smiled to himself peacefully as he began to think about something or more like someone else. Ash.
Little Cato mentally scolded himself. He had been thinking about her a lot lately and he had absolutely no clue why! He had to stop that.
Sitting up, Little Cato checked the time. It was noon already! He stretched as he climbed down the ladder of his bunk bed and made his way out of the room
As he entered the hallway, he began to wonder where his destination was. Then he saw Gary walk around the corner.
"Hey, Spider Cat." Gary greeted with a grin.
"Hey, Thunder Bandit." Little Cato greeted, happy to see Gary.
"Whatcha doing?" Asked Gary as they continued to walk down the long hallway.
"I don't know." Little Cato replied with a shrug. "What are you doing?"
"I'm gone to play cards with Avocato." Said Gary showing Little Cato the deck of cards he was holding.
"Cool." Said Little Cato.
Then Gary stopped outside the dining area, where Avocato was waiting for him.
"I have to go. See you later, SC." Said Gary with a wave.
"Bye, TB. Have fun!" Little Cato replied as Gary left.
'What should I do now?' Little Cato thought to himself. Finally deciding to just go to the lounge room, he walked further down the hallway.
Mooncake instantly zoomed up to him as he walked through the lounge room door.
"Chookity!" Exclaimed Mooncake, excitedly.
"Hi, Mooncake." Little Cato replied with a smile. He then looked around the room and saw H.U.E on a ladder in front of the TV.
"Hey, H.U.E. Has the TV broken down again?"
"Yes, I am fixing the ship's TV, again." Stated H.U.E as he continued to play around with different wires and cords.
"Do you want any help?" Little Cato offered.
"No, I'm good. I think I'm almost done." H.U.E responded.
"Oh, ok…Well, good luck." Little Cato replied as he walked over to the couch and sat down.
Electronics had begun to randomly stop working ever since they had entered final space. It was strange but then again, what wasn't?
H.U.E took a moment to look at Little Cato. He was staring at the TV but it was obvious to H.U.E that he was lost in his thoughts. H.U.E had noticed that the Ventrexian had recently been spending a lot more time thinking than usual but he wasn't too surprised after all that had happened to him.
H.U.E then looked away from Little Cato and continued to fix the TV.
A few minutes later, Little Cato was taken from his thoughts when the TV suddenly turned on. Mooncake whizzed around the room happily.
"Good job, H.U.E!" Little Cato congratulated with a smile.
"Thank you, Little Cato." H.U.E replied as he got down from the ladder and leaned the ladder against the wall.
Just then the door opened and Fox and Ash came in.
"Hi!" Ash greeted while Fox just gave him a slightly annoyed look as they both joined Little Cato on the couch.
"Hey!" Little Cato responded.
"Chookity!" Exclaimed Mooncake as he hovered next to the couch, slightly above everyone else.
It was obvious to H.U.E that Little Cato's mood had changed. Little Cato was now sitting up much straighter than before and his tail had started moving a lot faster. In fact, the only thing moving was his tail, the rest of him was completely still.
H.U.E found this strange but didn't want to say anything, so he kept quiet and decided he would ask Little Cato about it later. Looking at the others, H.U.E also noticed that the only one who seemed like he was actually watching TV was Fox. This was either because Little Cato and Ash found the channel boring or something else.
H.U.E then noisily turned his body around to face Mooncake, who was still zooming cheerfully around the room.
"Mooncake, would you like to help me make dinner?" Asked H.U.E.
"Chookity Pa!" Mooncake answered as he followed H.U.E out of the room.
Now it was just Little Cato, Fox and Ash left in the room.
"This movie is too emotional!" Cried Fox unexpectedly, only 20 minutes later as the ad break came on. He then exited the room with tears threatening to fall from his eyes.
Little Cato would have responded to Fox with a rude comment but he was too panicky to think properly.
Little Cato's eyes were once again glued to the TV. It was now just him and Ash. He was very nervous. He had never been this nervous around her. He had begun to notice how much he enjoyed Ash's company and being with her made him feel extremely happy. Although being in her presence also gave him these strange feelings. He couldn't explain them but sometimes they made him feel warm, but it was never this bad.
Little Cato took a split second to glance at Ash. He wanted to say something to her. Anything! But his throat had gone dry and he had no clue on what he should say.
Little Cato could feel his cheeks burning and his tail swishing faster than it ever had before, but why?
Little Cato glanced at Ash again and their eyes met for a few seconds before they both shyly looked away from each other.
"So…Have you and Quinn been getting along well?" Little Cato finally asked, breaking the awkward silence.
"Yeah. She's nice." Ash responded.
"That's good." Replied Little Cato with a small smile before internally cursing himself for being so awkward and lame.
"What about you having your own room. Is that good?"
Little Cato nodded, "Yeah."
There was then a short silence where Little Cato and Ash both pretended to watch TV.
"So, H.U.E's making dinner again." Little Cato stated with a smirk. "Hopefully, H.U.E doesn't try out one of his homemade recipes."
"Yeah, sometimes I wonder if he even knows what he's putting in the food." Ash replied with an entertained smile. They both let out stifled giggles.
"So, what have you been doing today?" Asked Ash, both her and Little Cato were now completely ignoring the TV to look at each other.
"Well…I woke up at 6:00, talked to my dad, went to my room, and then came here. H.U.E had just finished fixing the TV when you and Fox came in."
Ash nodded before Little Cato continued. "Isn't it strange how electronics on the ship have started to randomly stop working? Maybe it's got something to do with being in final space."
"Yeah, I think that too. It did start happening ever since we came here." Ash replied.
Little Cato nodded. Then there was a loud, unexpected bang from behind them. Little Cato and Ash both quickly stood up and turned around, instinctively getting ready to fight.
It was…KVN?
"What the hell, KVN! When did you come in?" Asked Little Cato, surprised and slightly confused. Since he had enhanced hearing, he should have been able to hear KVN come in, but then again, he had been a little distracted…
"I was bored! So I decided to travel through the vents and spy on everyone but that got boring too so I decided to come out."
"How long were you spying on us?" Asked Ash, extremely annoyed. She could feel her power slowly lifting her off the ground.
"Ever since Mooncake and H.U.E left!" Answered KVN with a joyful and highly irritating laugh.
Little Cato groaned in annoyance, then looked over at Ash. She was using her thingy thing. He watched in anger aimed at KVN and slight amusement as Ash used her powers to blast KVN. KVN, however, dodged before flying out the door cackling evilly.
"KVN!" Ash and Little Cato yelled as they watched KVN leave. Once KVN had left, Little Cato shook his head in aggravation.
"I swear he's getting more and more annoying every day!" Exclaimed Little Cato.
"I know!" Replied Ash angrily as her power faded away.
Little Cato glanced at Ash and felt a tingly feeling inside. Ash was kind of cute when she was angry but not exactly like a puppy cute but he couldn't quite explain or understand what that meant. Little Cato then realized what he had been thinking and quickly tried to think of something else. What was wrong with him?
"It's almost 2:30." Said Ash checking the time on the TV. "I promised I would help Fox with a few things."
"Oh, okay. Bye!" Little Cato responded, slightly sad that she was leaving, but not letting it show.
"See ya!" Ash replied with a cheerful wave.
Once Ash had left, Little Cato turned off the TV and headed back to his room. Now that he had the whole room to himself, he was thinking of doing some combat practise.
After Ash had left the company of her brother, it was around 4:00 pm. Ash was currently walking to the room she now shared with Quinn. After Nightfall's death, Quinn had taken her alternate version of herself's bed. She tried not to feel too sad about Nightfall's sacrifice. She was probably happier now. She'd really wanted to be with Gary but her version of Gary was quite a bit different to normal Gary. She was probably with her Gary now. She wasn't really sure if that was true or not but she desperately hoped it was. Nightfall was such a good person. She deserved happiness.
Once Ash arrived, she sat down on her lower bunk bed and picked up her favourite toy. This toy was not just any toy. This toy was special. Extremely special!
Her bedroom door then opened and her roommate, Quinn, came in. Quinn looked at Ash and saw she was once again playing with that toy. She had never seen the toy up close but she'd seen enough to know it wasn't very pretty. Quinn had caught Ash simply holding the toy multiple times before and considering she had only met Ash four days ago, that was quite a lot. She acted like that toy was her prize possession but why? Quinn's curiosity finally got the better of her.
"Playing with that toy again?" Quinn asked staring at the strange toy from the doorway.
"Yeah." Ash answered as she patted her toy fondly.
"Why do you like it so much?" Asked Quinn hesitantly as she walked slightly closer to it. Then Quinn gasped.
"What the hell! Is that Little Cato's fur!" Quinn asked jumping back.
"Mm-hmm!" Confirmed Ash happily patting the toys soft fur.
Quinn didn't know what to think of her having that toy. It was very creepy but Quinn had to admit that in a weird, twisted way, it was kind of cute.
"Does he know you have that toy?" Quinn questioned with a very small smile calming down from the minor shock.
"I showed it to him, but I'm not sure if he knows I still have it." Replied Ash as she put the toy back safely on the top corner of her bed.
Quinn just smiled as she climbed up the ladder to her top bunk. Although she had just met Ash, she had already started to like her. Ash was a great person to have as a roommate, she wasn't too loud or annoying, she was pretty friendly and she didn't start fights. She was a little bit strange but she didn't mind. Besides everyone on the ship was slightly strange.
