In the heart of a busy metropolitan city, lies a futuristic looking high-rise building. Situated within are numerous Governmental Departments and a couple transportations hubs that allows Travel to and from the Digital World.

Digimon and Humans both are going about their day to day lives and routines. A Male with brown hair and wearing a loose fitting shirt with jeans is rapidly filling out some paperwork at a desk whilst a woman who appears to be roughly the same age is scratching the head of the knee high obsidian wyvern like creature next to her. She tucks a errand strand of red hair behind one of her ears.

"You sure you want to go through with this Rich?"

"I'm certain Maria. I haven't had any luck finding a Digimon Partner on my own. Never had that moment where things just clicked." He snapped his fingers for emphasis, "Like it did for you and Vorvomon. I'm willing to go through the Analytics and have one assigned to me."

The Vorvomon's yellow eyes peered at him. "Yeah, but c'mon Richard. If you get one Assigned to you, you're automatically enrolled into the Security & Defence programme." It exhales a small plume of flame & smoke from it's nostrils "Typically no one wants to have orders and missions randomly given to them to complete from your Human Government, unless they're actively employed by them."

Richard flipped over the paper he was working on and resumed filling it in. "The people protesting it have exaggerated how often the Government needs to draw on people through that programme. We now have plenty of people & Digimon employed in the Military & Law Enforcement to ensure that nothing short of a City Wide Emergency, or something even worse, would be needed for them to actually bring that into play."

He quickly signed the final part of the forms and stood up, then pressed his knuckles into his back to help crack his spine.

"Damn, that took longer than expected. Alright, let's go and find out who my Digimon Partner is going to be."

A young woman is walking though the forest, with a yellow larva like Digimon riding on her shoulder. It's antenna twitching, monitoring for any potential threats. It's blue mandibles clicked together a couple times.

"Not feeling anything here Vicky." The Digimon chittered. "We sure people have been spotting odd lights and hearing strange sounds around here?"

Vicky ran a hand though her blonde hair, as she scanned the forest. She then raised her arm and pressed a button on the device attached to her wrist. A screen began being projected in from the device which using her other hand she began touching and swiping though different pages on the holographic touch screen.

"I'm sure Kunemon. Multiple sightings of random bursts of light which range in colours and hues, also sounds of electricity crackling and static… all of which points to a Portal into the Digital World being forcibly opened."

"Well I'm not able to sense anything, either all of these potential breaches between here and there have failed. Or something else has been causing them."

Vicky dismissed her holographic screen and continued walking about the forest, both her and her Digimon scanning around them as they did.

"I don't think theirs anything else that could generate those phenomenon, at least not simultaneously."

After searching for the majority of an hour, Vicky and Kunemon were about to give up and report back to the Digital-Travel Bureau that the reports appeared to be false, when they spotted a Digimon slumped against a tree. It was human like in appearance, with bluish skin and wearing a tattered jumpsuit with a ratty looking blue cape and a mostly ruined wizard hat

"Huh, maybe we should ask that Wizardmon if he knows anything about the possible portal." Kunemon suddenly tensed up on her shoulder, and released a hissing noise. "Kunemon? What's going on?"

"Take another look at them." The Digimon's voice was wary and full of vicious protectiveness, "Something's wrong with it."

Vicky looked again and began to notice what her partner was sensing. The Wizardmon had several patches of it's body that were flickering with static, and it's hands were missing. Green Wire-frame mesh showed where the data would make up the Digimon's hands, but left only what in computing terms would be considered the skeletal data. Beyond the obvious damage that the Digimon had suffered, there were strange wriggling chains of violet digital coding sprouting from it's chest which had coiled around parts of it's body before embedding themselves into the Wizardmon again.

The Wizardmon suddenly jerked up to it's feet and turned to face Vicky. Half of it's face had turned to static, and it's only visible eye shone with an eerie violet light that matched the chains.

"Stay…back." It's voice was strained and distant. "Infected. Program not finished. Escaped." The Wizardmon took three unsteady steps backwards before collapsing to it's knees.

"Trigrams going to attack. Beware the Glitch Digimon."

The Wizardmon suddenly let out an agonised scream. It was forcibly jerked back to it's feet by the chains embedded in it's body. "Out of Time" he stated, before charging a ball of lightning in one of his hands.

Kunemon leapt from Vicky's shoulder and shouted "Electric Thread" before shooting an electrified stream of silk from it's mouth.

The Wizardmon jerkily attempted to dodge the attack, but failed to fully move out of the way. The Kunemon's attack hit the arm that had been charging up the ball of lightning. When it struck the chains embedded in the arm vanished.

A small smile flitted across Wizardmon's face. "THUNDER SQUALL" he bellowed, as he plunged his now unchained arm into his own chest, directly onto the spot where the chains were originating from.

A brilliant flash of light enveloped the Wizardmon, and then he simply vanished. Kunemon quickly scanned the area with it's antenna. It's body began to relax and it's voice came out quiet and sad.

"Their gone. He chose to delete himself…I only wanted to restrain them"

"It's okay Kunemon, whatever was affecting them must have made it seem like the only option. I'll send off a quick report but they'll want a full debrief." she began typing up a quick message to send to her boss through her holographic screen. "Is there any data left from the Wizardmon? We might need a sample to analyse it for whatever it had been infected with."

"None. Maybe it was already too damaged to leave any data behind. Or whatever those chains were may have erased them as it was destroyed."

"…as annoying as it is, it might be for the best. Come one. Let's head back, and we'll grab some honeycomb ice cream on the way home. I think we've earned some comfort food."

Richard stood in a large circular room with a hi-tech platform in the centre. A holographic banner floated above occasionally displaying the name of one of the other people in the room. As each person was called up to the Platform a Digimon that was determined to be their ideal Partner would materialise from the Digital World. He had already seen several people collecting their assigned Partners.

"Kinda weird that we have to watch other people collecting their Partners, and that other people will be watching us meet ours for the first time huh?"

Richard turned to see a guy around his own age whose hair was brown, but had a dyed yellow stripe through it and a scruffy beard.

"True, I'm Richard."

"Nathan." He replied as they shook hands. "Any hopes or preferences for your Partner?"

Richard shrugged. "Might be cool to have one similar to my Cousin's Vorvomon"

"That's the volcanic dragon Digimon right?" Richard responded with a nod. "Cool, personally I'm hoping I get either an Insect or Beast themed Partner."

"I've heard about people trying to go into the Analytics in an attempt to get a specific Partner. Way I heard it, they always failed but still ended up with the Partner that best suited them… even if they didn't get along well at first."

They watched as other people in the room were called up to meet their Partners. Some of the Digimon they had seen included a Fanbeemon, Gizamon, SnowAgumon, and an Apemon.

The banner suddenly showed Nathan's name.

"Welp, looks like I'm up. Hope you get to meet your Partner soon Richard." Nathan gave him a salute before heading over to the Platform. After a few moments, a bipedal white hedgehog with yellow quills appeared.

"Hi, I'm Herissmon"

"Nice to meet you, I'm Nathan, but if you want you can call me Nate."

Nathan and Herissmon started making their out the room and Richard saw his own name show up. A few moments later a Mechanical Bird like Digimon appearred before him.

"I'm Jazamon, pleasure to meet you."

"Richard, nice to meet you too. C'mon, I want to introduce you to my cousin and her Partner."

A man with Blonde hair and wearing a rust coloured leather jacket is trudging through knee high snow as wind would sweep back and forth across the tundra plain. Swirling flurries of snow around him. Holding onto his back is a orange furred bipedal lion cub, who had a tuft of flames on his tail & a ball fire attached to the circlet it bore.

"Hey Isaac, how the heck are we supposed to find Alastor & Bulucomon in this weather? Isn't there some kind tracker in the Digivice?"

"There is, but whenever those two head off on one of their Expeditions they disable their tracker after reaching the general Region they decide to go exploring in." Isaac grumbled. "You know I always check for an active signal before we head out Coronamon."

"I know, just tired of us having to chase them down so often… how come none of the others every get asked to look for them when their AWOL?"

"Honestly? It's either because we're the only ones friends with him outside of work, or due to the fact the others have never been successful."

Coronamon chuckled at that, as a beeping came from the Digivice strapped to his Partner's wrist. Isaac checked the device and let out a confused grunt.

"It's a message from Alastor. Bulucomon is using a new technique to try and control this mini snow storm, and they've provided Map Co-ordinates we've to meet them at…."

"That's odd. Are they use the tracker to see how close we are? Also do you think they've found something?"

"Only one way to find out." He replied to the Digimon.

Using the map function the duo made their way towards the co-ordinates provided. The closer they got, the worst the weather became, until suddenly they entered the eye of the storm. With the calm and peaceful area, the pair spotted the blue dinosaur like Digimon with ice coating parts of it's body standing on top of a large boulder, his arms moving through the air and eyes closed. Teeth clenched tightly as it was attempting to influence the surrounding storm.

Alastor stood nearby, wearing a simple grey jacket. His dark hair swept back. Upon noticing Isaac and Coronamon joining them, he waved them over and showed them something unexpected.

Obscured by the boulder that Bulucomon stood upon, was a block of ice which contained a what appeared to be chains of violet light in the form of Digital Coding, in the shape of a human sized stick figure.

"Bulucomon and I were attacked by this thing… we might have some kind of new and hostile Digital Lifeforms wandering around."
