Glenstorm's Daughter Chapter 1

Something big is coming. If the signs in the stars are anything to go by, as Lorna's father Glenstorm would say, a great change is rapidly approaching the land and could occur at practically any day now.

For hundreds of years Narnians have been forced underground into hiding to prevent another massacre from the oppressive Telmarines after they invaded these once peaceful and sacred lands. Many have lost hope to ever reclaiming ownership over this territory again after the Kings and Queens of Old vanished without a trace. As rumors of Glenstorm's prediction slowly spread throughout the remaining population a sort of excited restlessness began to emerge from some though not by all. So much time has passed that there is still so much skepticism that even a victory these days can be achieved without the proper leadership to guide them. But through the woodwork, there are others who have felt close to the same inkling as to the centaurs.

A very wise and regarded badger among the community going by Trufflehunter. He's a close family friend and confidant to many deep in the woods including the centaurs.

And it is at his burrow that the unexpected yet not unwelcome occurs, altering events in Narnia that'll set everyone there on a path of no return.

Lorna is passing through by chance and upon seeing her Trufflehunter invites her inside to join him along with two Dwarves called Trumpkin and Nikabrik who were already visiting there with him. It was a good visit and Lorna was just about to take her leave for home when a sudden commotion is heard nearby. Their guard up Trumpkin and Lorna are the ones to emerge from the home in the tree to investigate.

Imagine the surprise and fear that surges through the group the moment they spot the Telmarine boy lying down flat on his back in front of their earth, his horse galloping off in the distance without its rider. Initially the Telmarine had been watching his horse depart in despair until he heard the door to the burrow open. His eye widens in disbelief and shock.

Noticing this first, Nikabrik said "He's seen us."

At the same time the Telmarine finds his sword lying a few feet away from him. Nikabrik and Trumpkin draw their weapons with the latter charging at the intruder. He's about to swipe at the Telmarine before he can grab the fallen blade when he notices Queen Susan's horn lying on the ground. It's enough to halt an assault.

Lorna notices it, too, and immediately recalls her father's prophecy. Could it be?

There's not much time to ponder on this. Shouts and the sound of pounding hoofbeats draw closer. A squad of Telmarine soldiers is after this lad. Quickly comes up with a plan in order to divert their attention.

One absolutely none of her friends are clearly going to like. In fact she may catch an earful once this is over and done with.

Briefly glancing back at her friends, Lorna said "Take care of him."

Immediately afterward Lorna breaks into a run directly at the approaching Telmarine soldiers, not once looking back.

Upon seeing her rapid approach the Telmarines stop in their tracks taken off guard at the approaching adversary. In the dark they might've mistaken her for their quarry in the darkness, but under the light of the moon and as she got closer it's made clear what she is. This realization doesn't stop her. She bulldozes right into their midst causing their horses to whinny and squeal from the sudden intrusion. But the directive works. They are now focused on her form and chase after her.

Out of nowhere behind her a horn sounds. One that doesn't belong to any Telmarine.

No one has heard it for over a thousand years yet to all Narnians it can be recognized anywhere especially the magical pull it instantly creates.

Queen Susan's horn has sounded at long last. The call to fight has begun.

Lorna didn't get too far before capture ropes are thrown and wrapped around her for capture. The soldiers in the squad spread out forming a circle where she can't escape and they have alternate angles to keep her secure. Lorna fought them hard with her sword, but can't break away. They've got her.

From behind the others, the actual head of this pursuit General Glozelle moves forward on his horse, finally getting a clear view of this foe that has thwarted Prince Caspians capture.

"A centaur," he breathed in both awe and terror. "Narnians have been extinct for centuries."

"Not as much as you think," said Lorna, spitefully and unyielding.

"Sir, the Prince has vanished. Without him in our sights it'll be impossible to track him now," mentions one of his soldiers.

Disregarding that for now towards facing this new discovery, General Glozelle said "We'll deal with that problem later. Lord Miraz is going to want to know about this most interesting prisoner at once. Form up! We're taking her back to the city!"

Just her luck. Lorna's family is not going to be pleased about this.
