Thoughts on the Future

"What do you think? The world seems to know what to think. But I want to know what you believe."

"…Skull Island. It was open and exposed for, potentially, the first time in its history in the 1970s. Now it is more sealed than ever before. I still keep looking over the island and find all sorts of lingering signs of the previous conflict that shaped it and the natives who live upon it."

"Brooks knows about that, it's nothing really that new."

"Yes, but the island is rather unstable, was once surrounded by a storm system, and is the site for one of the greatest conflicts potentially in Titan history. Kong and his kind waged war against the horrific creatures that Marlow had named Skullcrawlers. Yet I am certain there is more than just the crawlers there. It became the home of the apes for a reason. It may have even once been greater in scope that we believe. Especially because of the "Hollow Earth" theory having been proven sound through the island alone."

"But still, do you think any government or army is going to be able to understand the choices necessary to be made?"

"Meaning what?"

"They look at the thought of making this world ours and ours alone if the feared assault by them should become a reality." A pause and grimace. "As always, they are looking at him. They are looking at Godzilla."

"There is also Kong. The only Titan that it is said that didn't respond to the call of Ghidorah."

"You would vote for him over the big lizard? We're going to take sides here? That sort of thing is very dangerous. I don't want to be promoting any favoritism or bias into this. The world has enough problems and divides without choosing it's monsters."

"But that is the thing. We are going to have to choose. It isn't like we want to; we are going to be forced to. But there are those who want to wipe the slate clean which is rather dangerous. They aren't thinking about consequences, just the conflict."

"And if we did that, everything would change?"

"What is needed is a champion. That would change everything. It would make people more receptive and give positive reinforcement."

A sigh and glance at the floor. "You really believe that, don't you?"

. . . . .

(The Past)

"You like him too much."

"What?"

"You know precisely what I mean. You just cannot understand what I see."

"You refer unto…?"

"You know who. It's wrong. Even if these others were dealt with, he will still be the last one standing and will be the worst threat ever. Monarch is not doing its job because of you."

"You don't approve of me and what I believe." A quiet removal of the glasses and a pinching and rubbing of the eyes. A side effect of age. "Why do we discuss this?"

"Because you refuse to listen. I look out there and I see the "protectors" trampling our world. The governments and armies see all of them for what they are. If you were to tell them that are so many maybe they would have more faith in you. But instead, clouded by blind sympathy and romantic delusions, you keep looking over everything with rose-colored glasses." A snort. "It is pathetic and unbecoming of you. It is also going to be the death of you."

A shutting of the door and the figure grimly marching out. It was the not the first of arguments, but it was definitely one of the darker ones and the distance seemed to grow with each disagreement. Was there any hope for ever connecting for them?

(Present Day)

"What exactly is it that you desire from me?"

"You have something impressive, but it needs something more. I have helped successfully deal with a certain monster who was a man. And I have something to show you that he had."

The hologram caused the interested party's eyes to widen. "Most impressive. It might be precisely what we need."

"But it is, and I have everything else." A list was drawn up. It was impressive and detailed. A nod of approval was given.

"However, pardon me, but, uh, I seem to believe there is something that…you are supposed to get out of this. So, what is it that would drive you so and make you seek me out?"
