The next morning an odd feeling of excitement overcame you as you made your way to see the Hokage, a gift in hand.
"Lord sixth? I'm here to drop in the final bit of paperwork sir," you said as you opened the door to his office, gently knocking as you went.
"Great, come on in," he called to you. You approached the desk as he eyed you, giving a soft smile as he did so.
"Oh Y/N, I was thinking it over last night and you wouldn't happen to know where I could get the first book in that series your reading?" The older man asked you as he took the folder from you hands and placed it in the top draw of his desk. Your eyes filled with sparkles as you giggled to yourself.
"Hmm?" You heard the noise from the man seated in from of you and looked to him in time to catch the cute head tilt of confusion.
"Oh sorry sir," you said, still trying to control your laughter. "I was actually also thinking about this last night," you paused and rubbed the back of your neck once again, "I got a little excited and brought this with me." You finished, handing over a book with a white and ice blue cover to the Hokage.
"Oh... is this?"
"Yeah, it's the first one in the series. I'm kind of a book nerd and got a little over excited last night so I was going to offer my copy to you in case you wanted to read it."
"Oh," he said, blinking down at the book, he stared at the book for a minute before turning his gaze up to you, noticing your embarrassment and look of anticipation as you not so patiently awaited his reply.
"Thank you Y/N," you started, giving you a bright smile hidden by his mask, "when I finish I promise I'll return it to you in perfect condition." He finished, not breaking his smile.
"You better," you joked, "because I can and will erase your kneecaps." He laughed as you turned away, in a way that said you were joking but deep down he knew you weren't, you were very protective over your precious books. You left his office hearing him laugh nervously as you closed the door and headed back home, you still had more work to do to set up your new store in town.
You practically skipped threw the village on your way home, excited you found someone who shares your love of reading. When you arrived home, you had the hard job of luging large boxes full of stock down stairs to the store as they'd finally arrived after weeks of waiting around impatiently.
Your mood instantly dissipating into annoyance as your glared down at the countless boxes. This was going to be a long day, but you knew once the boxes were down there you'd start enjoying yourself, after all this was everything you've ever wanted.
