Notes:
I wrote this fic after playing Unleashed and it has sat in a dusty fading notebook for years. Sonic and Shadow are the main characters and there will be some friendship and feelings development between them. OCs have been created just for this story and do not take a main part in it. There will be around 20 chapters, maybe more. First fanfic ever and I would love and appreciate any feedback good or bad.
Chapter 1
The Traveller
It was approaching the nineteenth hour. A single figure trekked across the lonely moors.
The roaring wind blew thick murky clouds across the inky sky like rolling smoke, drowning the stars. The full moon poked it's beaming face through here and there, lighting up the ground below, saving the voyager from being swallowed completely by the illimitable blackness.
A fine mist of rain hung in the air, clinging to everything, softly soaking the traveller's jet black fur. Shivering, he quickened his pace, spurred onward by a sudden blast of fierce wind that forced his well groomed quills almost flat against his body.
His destination, a rundown country inn, looked cosy and inviting lit up against the desolate skyline.
He paused by the wooden front door to shake the wetness from his fur and the mud from his stylish white, red and black footwear. A weathered sign blew back and forth above him, creaking and squeaking rhythmically like a foreboding melody.
The distant sound of a howl rang out from the emptiness somewhere behind him which made his blood run icy cold. Taking a deep breath, he grasped the cast iron handle with a gloved hand, then, pushing the heavy door open, Shadow the Hedgehog entered the Green Lion Inn.
