Setting: Cave

(Y/N is batting together with Siebold and Serena against Morty and his Trainers for their Tomes.)

Siebold: Heheh. I like my victories like I like my desserts - sublime!

I do believe that we have enough Water Tomes to unlock my level cap now to further my bonds with my Clawitzer.

[Choice selection]

⁃ Shall we go take a seat somewhere?

⁃ Let's take a rest nearby.

Siebold: That is a good idea. Shall we take a seat at the benches in the park?

Setting: Park

Siebold: Y/N, if you do not mind, I have a question I must pose to you. Do you think Pokémon battling can ever be worthy of being called an art?

[Choice selection]

⁃ Yes

...Indeed. You see, cooking is the type of art that disappears as soon as it is completed. Pokémon battles are the same.

Even memories of sweet victory soon fade after the battle ends. To devote yourself entirely to such a life, made up of fleeting experiences--that is truly artful.

⁃ No

Fool! You silly, unseeing child! If all you seek in life is to fill your stomach with some tasteless matter, then why are there Chefs in this world?!

We labor tirelessly to make something wonderful that will disappear from sight as soon as it is enjoyed. That is the life of a Chef! That is the life of a Trainer!

...Ah, I do apologize for snapping like that. I do feel emotionally overwhelmed whenever I hear someone who does not appreciate the artform that Pokémon battles are.

Serena: He's asked me the same question back when I challenged him at the Elite Four, Y/N.

Siebold: Indeed I have. I've met several Trainers in my service as a member of the Elite Four, and posed the same question to each one of them.

I wanted to see which were the ones who could truly appreciate Pokémon battles as a form of art.

Serena: (Whispering) To be honest, Y/N, I don't get what he is saying most of the time, but I simply answer 'Yes' to his question to prevent him from flipping out.

However, occasionally, when I challenge him at the Elite Four, I would intentionally answer 'No' just to see his angered reaction for fun.

(Y/N and Serena begin giggling, causing Siebold to shoot them a glance.)

Siebold: What might you be finding so amusing over there?

Serena: Oh, it's nothing. Don't worry about it!

Siebold: ...Fine. As long as the topic does not concern me, I shall not worry myself over it.

Serena: ...

Siebold: Y/N and Serena, I have been thinking about the new café that has recently opened opposite my restaurant.

I believe I have a seen a poster advertising a '1-for-1 Opening Special' outside the café. If you are free after this, shall we go there together?

Serena: But there are 3 of us. We won't be able to enjoy the 1-for-1 special that way.

[Choice selection]

⁃ How about inviting one more person?

⁃ Let's ask one more person to join us!

Serena: That's a great idea! I know, I'll call Calem and ask him to join us!

(Serena gives Calem a call on his Poryphone, and then turns back to Y/N and Siebold.)

Serena: Calem says he's in the midst of a battle now and will head over after he is done. I'll go over and watch him battle. Y/N and Siebold, you two go first! Don't worry about me.

Siebold: Very well. Shall we head over to the café right away, Y/N?

[Choice selection]

⁃ Sure!

⁃ Let's go!

Setting: Café

(Siebold and Y/N are sitting at a two-person table in the café, looking at a menu on the table.)

Siebold: So, they are offering a 1-for-1 promotion on their selection of cakes. All of these cakes look delicious, Y/N. Which one would you like to pick?

[Choice selection]

⁃ Chocolate Truffle Cake

⁃ White Forest Cake

⁃ Cookies and Cream Cake

⁃ Blueberry Cheesecake

Siebold: Yes, I had wanted to try that one, too. Excuse me, Miss, may we have this cake, please?

(Siebold calls out to a waitress and places his orders.)

Siebold: It is refreshing to be served once in a while, just as I serve customers at my restaurant daily.

Are you surprised that I am not only a chef, but also a waiter? Normally, the role of a chef is to simply cook his dishes, and leave the serving to his waiters or waitresses, but not for me.

I personally serve my customers the food that I have made myself, so that they may meet the one who has prepared their dish, and that I might see their faces of contentment after enjoying my food.

I have a few waiters and chefs working under me, but they fulfil the same role I do, too.

...Speaking of them, I do not understand why, but I sense that they do not find me very approachable.

They seem to become tense in my presence and dare not relax around me.

Do I really give off such a strict vibe to the people around me?

[Choice selection]

⁃ Not at all.

⁃ I don't think so.

Siebold: I see. You are one of the few who can relax around me. That is wonderful. Somehow, I feel the same towards you as well.

I wonder what I can do to make my staff feel more comfortable around me...

(Just as Siebold said that, the waitress returns with two cakes in her tray. She sets them down before Y/N and Siebold.)

Siebold: Ah, the cakes are here at last. Let us dig in.

...Wonderful. The baker indeed put his or her all into baking this cake. As a Chef, I can tell how much effort someone has put into making a dish with just a single bite.

What do you think, Y/N?

[Choice selection]

⁃ It's great!

⁃ It's delicious!

Siebold: That is most delightful. I am glad that you appreciate the hard work of us chefs and bakers. Something so transient, and yet so beautiful - a work of art, indeed.

Pokémon battles are the same, and yet not everyone can appreciate its artform...

Ah, I do apologize for rambling on again. Let us continue eating our cakes.

(Y/N and Siebold finish their cakes, and the waitress returned with a chocolate sundae topped with whipped cream and a cherry, together with two spoons.)

Waitress: Mr. Siebold, the owner would like to thank you for patronizing our café today by offering you and your lucky lady a chocolate sundae on the house.

Siebold: The owner? So he knows that I own the restaurant opposite this café? ...Delightful. Thank you very much. Please pass my regards to him.

(The waitress nods and leaves, and Siebold hands a spoon over to Y/N. Siebold eats a little of the sundae with his spoon and gestures to Y/N to have some too.)

Siebold: Go on, have some of it. This sundae is really delicious.

...Why is your face turning so red? Are you uncomfortable with sharing a sundae with me?

[Choice selection]

⁃ T-that's not it!

⁃ It's not like that...!

Siebold: Well then, hurry up before the ice cream begins melting.

...

Come on. Do you need me to feed you the ice cream or something?

(Siebold picks up Y/N's spoon, scoops up a large serving of ice cream and puts it in front of her mouth.

Y/N freezes for a moment, but opens up her mouth and accepts the ice cream. The sweet and creamy texture melted in her mouth like a heavenly flavor.)

[Choice selection]

⁃ I can't believe how great it tastes!

⁃ It's amazing!

Siebold: See, this is why I told you to hurry up and try the sundae already. If you do not, I might have finished all of it by myself before you even got to act.

Well, shall we finish up the rest of it, then?

(Y/N nods, and the two of them finishes the sundae together.

Siebold then asks for the bill and places his money on the check.)

Siebold: Do not worry about the bill, for I shall cover it. Please take it as a token of appreciation for accompanying me today.

(At that moment, Serena came into the café with Calem.)

Siebold: Ah, there you are, young lady. I'm afraid that we were about to make our leave.

Serena: No worries! The two of us will enjoy our time here then! See you next battle!

(Y/N and Siebold leave the café together after waving goodbye to Serena and Calem.)

Siebold: Y/N, I need to return to my restaurant now for my evening shift. However, I enjoyed your company with me today. Let us meet again another day, alright?

(Siebold waves goodbye to Y/N before heading into his restaurant.)
