Hey! So, chapter two is up quicker than I thought it was gonna be so, without further a-do!
Chapter 2: Security Breach
"Okay, so let me get this straight," Clint stated, furrowing his eyebrows. He was still trying to process the situation. He sat in his chair in a straddled position and leaned forwards looking at Tony; resting his elbows against the rim of the chair and clasped his hands together. "You have a secret child no one knew about until this very moment and her mother was a hydra agent in which forced her through the program. You met up with her in Sokovia and YOU DIDN"T THINK ANY OF THIS WOULD BE SIGNIFICANT TO KNOW?!"
"This is exactly why I didn't," Tony replied calmly, however, he rolled his eyes.
"You're foolish," Clint mutters.
"You're an imbecile." Tony shot back.
"You're a whore." Clint urge.
"Well, you're a whore too." Tony scoffed. Sure, he knew Barton had a wife and kids but he also observed how close Nat and Barton were. They didn't hide it either.
"Oookay.." Pepper stated uncomfortably, ending the men's squabble. A stupid one at that, no significance.
Both men stiffened as they had near forgotten they were in the presence of others. Well, Tony knew; he just didn't appear to care.
"So, where is she now?" Steve chimed in with a curious expression. He was ignoring the fact of what he just witness to turn the subject.
"I wish I knew the answer to that..." Tony said softly. He then thought for a moment. Brushing his hand under his mouth. "Hey, J.A.R.V.I.S!"
"Yes, sir. Alway, ready to be of assistance." The A.I answered over an undisclosed intercom.
"Track the location of the last phone call I received."
"Tracking…" The A.I responded after several moments. On a nearby table, a hologram of the earth had spread out and spun rapidly. And then stopped, zooming in and pinpointing one city on the map.
"The number you requested appears to be a cell phone from the area code 716. A New York state area code. Precisely: Buffalo, NY." The A.I finally answered.
"Anything else, you can tell us?" Natasha inquired, sitting up in her seat.
"No other information available, Miss Romanoff." The A.I replied.
"Well, that's great." Natasha huffed, blowing a strand of her hair that fell in her face. "Burner phone."
"Well, we know where she was when she made the phone call," Steve suggested with a shrug.
"But no way to get in contact with her," Clint added.
"Wonderful," Tony said with a roll of his eyes. He knew she had been in an awful situation but, what was with the insane secrecy that he couldn't even contact her again?
Before anyone was able to chat up a conversation, the lights in the tower flickered for a moment and the whir of the power surging to stay stable could be heard.
"What the fuck?" Clint mutter aloud looking around.
"Language." Steve scolded, receiving an eye roll from Clint.
With that, suddenly the power went down completely; only the backup generator keeping sets of lights on.
"No, really. What Clint said. What the fuck." Tony snapped, getting out of his chair. "J.A.R.V.I.S? ….J.A.R.V.I.S!" A few moments passed and he sighed when he realized even his A.I was now powered down as well due to the outage.
But then everyone's cellphones started blaring with an official alert from S.H.E.I.L.D. it giving the signal of a breach. Before anyone could say anything, Natasha was on the line with headquarters.
"What do you mean there's been an unidentifiable breach?" She snapped, her voice hard.
"We don't know, Agent."
"Well, get some answers."
"Please stand by, Agent Romanoff."
She sighed shaking her head and then looked at the eyes around the room.
"Let's go to headquarters, Boys." She announced, gesturing they needed to clear the building.
When they had all suited up, considering the elevator didn't work they all hurried to what appeared to be endless flights of stairs. The only good thing about this power outage is that the tower itself was safe as in lockdown mode every door automatically locked, making it impossible for anyone to get in unless authorized by a code as the keypads were battery operated.
Before they got to the main foyer of the large tower a young woman, a girl stood in from of the entrance and was supposedly attempting to block the entrance.
"Did you miss me?" She asked, with a tilt of her head she looked straight at Tony Stark.
"Woah, Woah! Hold your weapons-" Tony shouted, stopping in his tracks as he looked at the young woman in front of them. "Madison?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows.
Before an answer could be attempted, James Barnes walked up behind the brunette.
"I'm assuming this little asshole is yours?" Bucky said, arching his eyebrows and he walked forwards and shoved Madison along with him.
"HEY! Watch it!" The brunette yelp, shrugging him off. "They have loaded weapons aimed at me...So much for the welcome committee." She grumbled, providing a glare.
"She's not a threat." Tony and Natasha said in unison...
Thus, everyone lowered their weapons but remained on guard. Natasha gave Tony a glare and in return, he just gave her an eye-roll.
"Look, devochka," Girlie. "We got a situation so, the family reunion will have to wait. Stark?" Natasha stated, turning to him just to know they were somewhat on the same page.
"We'll talk about this later," He said, grabbing his daughter by the arm.
Steve looked at Bucky and shrugged, offering him a smile. "It's about time you got here. Things got interesting."
"That's a shame," Bucky muttered.
He joined them in heading to the S.H.I.E.L.D Headquarters. They knew the longer they waited the more information was being leaked by the second and more lives at risk. At this time the threat was unknown which made everything else to follow just that more complicated.
Oooh! So, I made it a bit exciting. Why is there a security breach in shield? Why did Madison have a burner phone? Find out in the next chapter! Remember to follow, review and tell a friend. :) Give suggestions too!
