He was conflicted between going to see his best friend or his son. He knew his choice should be simple, afterall Christopher was his goddamn son, but Buck was family too and right now he was injured while Christopher seemed unharmed, and according to Christopher that was all thanks to Buck. Eddie's love for his best friend grew even more, God only knew what those two had been through, he felt sick even thinking about what it must have been like. But first things first he needed for Christopher to be checked out, he needed to be sure that he was okay, he knew that the team had got Buck and that Maddie was on her way, so Buck wasn't alone.
The doctors cleared Christopher and they went to the waiting area to see if there was any news on Buck, who had collapsed the minute the team got to him. First thing he noticed was Maddie sitting in one of the chairs sobbing with Chimney trying to comfort her, his heart sank in his chest and he swallowed a lump that was forming in his throat. Chimney was the one to noticed them first and he looked at Eddie with a tired smile and waved them over, at first he was hesitant but then Chimney whispered something to Maddie and she looked up at them; Better get the bad news over with he thought to himself and picked up Christopher to walk over to where Maddie and Chimney was seated. It wasn't bad news per say, they were still waiting for the doctor to bring any news on Buck. Bobby and Athena had gone to fedge some food, and Hen had gone to call and inform Karen that she was alright but that it would be a late night. Maddie had been crying over the whole situation and over Chimney just informing her that Christopher had been found, apparently Buck had called only minutes before Eddie himself had found him to tell her what had happened, and the entire way there she had been scared out of her mind thinking Christopher was lost in the chaos and thinking about what state Buck would be in when she found him, and thinking about everything that could have happened. Christopher had gone and given Maddie a hug
"Buck will be okay, he's Buck" Christopher smiled proudly thinking of his Buck.
"Thank you" Maddie said, eyes tearing up again; "Right now I'm just happy you're okay, and I'm sure Buck will be too" she smiled at him and gave him a kiss on the forehead.
"Is it okay if we sit down and wait with you for news?" Eddie asked Maddie
"Of cause" Maddie nodded
When Hen came back she smiled and gave Maddie, Eddie and Christopher her best wishes from Karen and Denny before joining them in the wait, not long after Bobby and Athena returned to with pizza and drinks for everyone, this had Christopher all hyped up and after dinner Eddie decided to bring Christopher home on account of it being late, but really he just couldn't stand the wait and needed something to do, Maddie promised to call with any news and wished them the best and a good night.
It was a couple more hours before Maddie called, Eddie had already put Chris to bed and was getting restless, going through every single person they had passed or rescued in the water in his mind, thinking that any of them could have been Buck or even Christopher when his phone started vibrating
"This is Eddie" he answered into the phone
"Hey Eddie, just wanted to update you on Buck, he is going to be okay, some minor scrapes and cuts but only one that needed stitches and severe dehydration and exhaustion, possible small concussion, Maddie is bringing him home right now" Chimney told him, and he was relieved to hear that Buck was going to make it
"But what about observation for the concussion or IV fluids for the dehydration?" Eddie asked worried, how could they just be letting him go home he thought angrily
"You know Buck, refused to stay in the hospital, insisted on going to see you because he needed to see that Chris was okay, but Maddie talked him into at least be getting some sleep first, her best argument being that it was late and that Chris was probably asleep right now" Chim explained
"Ese ser imposible" Eddie angrily breath down the phone, before taking a deep breath; "Thank you for letting me know, I'll go check on him tomorrow when I find someone to take Christopher, would bring him with me but probably need to check that Buck is okay first you know" Eddie told Chim
"Yeah I know" Chim told him back, then they bid each other goodbye before hanging up the phone
