{3rd P.O.V}

"I-I refuse to leave you!" A boy with dark hair shouted, defying what she wanted him to do. Tears were rolling down his face as he stared down at the injured girl before him, the girl slowly losing consciousness as blood seeped from a particularly nasty wound. "Look at the state you're in. If I have a heart, then I won't leave you. You'll be tortured, and I won't be able to live with myself if that did happen, so please... Allow me to stay by your side...!"

A tender smile brushed across her face, as her own tears slipped down her cheeks. "You must leave me, Zeref-Sama." She raised her right hand, which wasn't injured that much, and shakily placed it against his cool skin, allowing it to rest there. "It wasn't in our destiny to become what we wanted to be. I-I don't want you to leave, but Zeref-Sama, please, leave me here and go! Don't look back and run away as fast as you can, I'm begging you."

"I can't! Even if it means that I die, I don't care, just let me-" Zeref began but was cut off by a pair of lips brushing against his ever so gently, bringing him in for a kiss, their first kiss. His eyes widened in surprise, his heart pounding against his ribcage as time seemed to slow down, just for them, leaving enough time for the two of them to enjoy each other's presence and their first kiss. "L-Lucy..."

"I wanted to kiss you... Sumimasen, Zeref-Sama. But please consider this a goodbye present." A weak smile lit her face, making his heart lift at the very sight but at the same time, make his heart ache at the fact that he would never be able to see her or her beautiful smile again. He returned the smile half-heartedly, gently lifting her head and pressing his lips against hers, smiling whilst crying. He could taste the saltiness of the tears that had slid down her face moments before. "So, please, leave me. I'll be fine. Really..." She pushed him away lightly yet desperately.

"Sayonara, Lucy-Chan." Zeref let go of her gently and placed her back down on the ground, standing up and he began to walk away, not looking back at her. I promise that I'll get you back. I just need to get stronger, and once I have, I'll begin my search for you. Then, we can finally reunite and become what we've always wanted to be.

"S-Sayonara, Zeref-Kun." It was the first time he had heard words of endearment or an honorific that suggested they were close... His heart swelled, and he tried to follow her wishes, trying to harden his heart but his love for her overcame this feeling and he ran back towards her, only to see Lucy laying on the ground with a sword impaled through her heart, her eyes forming tears that remained unshed.

Blood splattered on the ground as she coughed violently, crying out in pain for the first time since he had ever met her. Zeref acted quickly, once he had been snapped out of his horror by her screams, and rushed to her side, engulfing her in a gentle hug. His tears spilled out of his eyes and his shoulders slumped, knowing that it was only a matter of time before she lost all consciousness and passed away.

"I'm sorry Lucy... I'm so sorry!" He cried, rocking her back and forth as he continued to hold her in his arms. Her warmth felt so comforting, and loving. All he had wanted was to save those who he cherished and yet, they were all on their deathbeds or already dead. First it was his parents, then Natsu, his younger brother, and now his most cherished person besides his family, Lucy.

As her head dropped to the side, her form no longer breathing, he let out an anguished scream, rattling the trees and nature nearby. His sobs were heard and those who walked by, did not dare to walk in for fear of something monstrous popping out. But the Heavens seemed to hear his cries, and dark clouds formed, rolling into the once clear blue sky and covering the sun's bright rays with darkness. Rain tumbled down, washing away the blood that had once lain on the dirty ground. All signs of death and despair disappearing.

"I will never love or feel anything! I promise you, and whoever has made her die, I will kill them all! I will never forgive you, life, and I will continue to defy life and this World itself for her sake. I won't let go until the day that I am allowed death!"
