Re:Time Chapter 2
As the bright light faded Subaru opened his eyes to a field of flowers. The surroundings were unfamiliar, but not at all unpleasant.
"Where am I?" Subaru wondered, looking around aimlessly.
As he looked around he noticed he was in a very beautiful looking area full of colorful flowers.
"Wow, this place reminds me of my first date with Emilia-tan." Subaru recalled as it was one of his most treasured moments.
Subaru looked at his fists as he remembered all of his friends. Clenching his fists he said.
I promise I will find a way to save you all. He thought with a look of determination in his eyes signalling his new goal.
As he walked around he then remembered that all his friends possibly wouldn't even be born. He pondered what a world without them would feel like.
Hmm I wonder where the hell I am and what do I do? Well there doesn't look like there's anybody around who could give me any clues.
Man I got transported into another world only to be once again transported to it's past.
Subaru wondered around the flower field taking notes on the surrounding area. Examining each individual area until he saw a hill that could give him a good vantage point to see where he has been brought too. Climbing at the top of hill Subaru gets a view of a silhouette of what looks to be a kingdom very far away. He would have to make his way there if he was gonna get some sort of answers, so he made his way into the forest that blocked his way towards the kingdom.
Man this forest looks big but it is pretty. Subaru thought.
As Subaru pondered about his ways to get past the forest he heard rustling from somewhere in the forest.
Quickly alerted he took a defensive stance.
"Hello, is anyone there?" He questioned, hoping to whatever god there was that he wasn't going to run into any danger right away
Slowly but surely someone appeared out of the forest. To say Subaru was shocked was an understatement, what he saw could be described as the most beautiful sight he had ever seen, as the woman with silver hair swaying in the wind, her pretty lavender eyes, her small pointy ears.
Satella. Subaru thought with a blush seeing her make her way here.
The woman of silver was walking her way to Subaru as he tensed up thinking about what to say or what to do, as he was thinking he was cut off by a yelp and a pretty half elf falling on top of him.
"Oh sorry I accidentally tripped." Satella said to a blushing Subaru, he took note of her angelic voice
As Satella got off Subaru she began to brush off the dirt from her dress and look at the new boy she just met, she extended her palm.
"Hello there my name is Satella. What's your name?"
Subaru recovering from the previous encounter got ready to do his signature pose.
"My name is Natsuki Subaru, Im clueless and hopelessly broke nice to meet you pretty lady!" he exclaimed proudly, a finger pointed to the sky and a wide grin spread across his red tinted face.
This caused the Satella to blush and giggle at the man's childish introductions
"It's very nice to meet you Natsuki Subaru, may I ask why you're here?"
"Why? is there something wrong with being here?" he questioned, sounding slightly more defensive than he should have.
"Oh goodness no, it's just that this place is pretty far from the kingdom so not many people are usually around here" the woman explained, making small motions with her hands as she did so.
"Ah okay." The black haired man scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "Well, what are you doing here then?"
"Oh well I actually live near here, this is like my own private place I come to when I need to relax. I didn't really expect someone to come but since your here maybe we can have a talk and I can help you out." The half elf offered with a gentle smile that made Subaru's heart do uncomfortable things.
"Sure thing Satella-tan." He chirped. The woman in question tilted her head at the unfamiliar honorific.
"Tan?" Satella repeated in confusion.
"Oh don't worry. Tan is a honorific from my homeland; it's a sign of affection." He explained frantically, wishing not to offend the girl.
Satella, hearing the definition, had a streak of red across her face.
"Well thanks I guess. Uhh, where are you from?" Satella said in a cute low voice, Subaru couldn't have found it more adorable
"Satella-Tan has such a cute voice." Subaru teased, ignoring the question she asked as he didn't like discussing his homeland.
Satella's face was turning more from his behaviour but was quite upset that he avoided her question about his homeland, which was odd to her but she decided to leave it out for now.
"Subaru you dummy!" Satella childishly said with a pout.
"Oh no Satella-tan called me a dummy my heart is gonna shatter." the boy teased, pretending to faint and fall back with the back of his hand pressed to his forehead.
After that both the pair began laughing at the fun interaction they just had.
Satella was the first so speak up.
"Anyway, Subaru where are you trying to go exactly?"
"To be honest Satella-tan, I have no idea. I just saw a kingdom far away and decided that maybe it was too my best interest to go there so I was gonna go through the forest, but then I met you."
"Hmm the kingdom past the forest… ohhhh you mean lugunica right? That's really far from here." She said proudly, as if happy that she knew that relatively common fact.
"How far is it exactly Satella-tan?"
"Well it would take 7 days by carriage and probably a lot longer on foot." she said as she playfully poked at his legs.
"7 days by carriage, that's so much time and I don't even have a way to get there." He muttered dejectedly
Satella looked at him for a minute and wondered to herself before deciding to speak her mind.
"Subaru do you have anybody with you?" she asked with worry clear in her angelic voice.
Subaru looked at her dumbfounded.
"What do you mean Satella-tan?"
"Like a family or friends of some sorts."
"Uhh actually no, I don't" Suabru states sadlyas he remembered his friends and family he left behind too come to the past
With those words Satella knew a hundred percent what to do next.
"Well, you could stay with me." she proposed, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "My house isn't too far from here."
Subaru looked at her for a minute seemingly confused at the offer.
"You wanna invite someone you just met into your own house?" he asked, slack-jawed at the insane kindness of the girl.
"Yes. You don't seem like a bad person, and I can't leave someone who needs help." She said in a tone that made it seem like it was the most obvious decision in the world.
Subaru grinned fondly at her as he remembered when Emilia saved him from the thugs.
"You know what? Sure, who wouldn't want to spend time at a pretty ladies house?" he flirted with a wink.
Subaru loved the way it made Satella's face turn red.
"Well then let's go Subaru"
Satella held up her hand signalling him to hold it, Subaru got the message to hold Satella's hand as she led him to her home, but in the process Subaru was in deep thought. Satella in this scenario looks completely different from the satella he knew, as she was beaming with joy and light, while before she was covered in shadows, as it looked like nothing made her happy unless it was Subaru, and it seems like she sent him to before he met her, which is actually a nice sign. He could build a relationship with her and become her friend, as he needed to find out how this Satella turned into the witch of envy he knew. He pondered on many things. Does he still have Return by death? Will he meet people like the witches of Sin? the thought of meeting them in the flesh scared him, but whatever the future held Natsuki Subaru would face it, because he had what many needed in times of despair, courtesy of the gorgeous half elf holding his hand.
