It was Monday when the boss walked with a particularly bad mood. This wasn't uncommon though, the beginning of the weeks were always much the usual and the employees of Club Chaos moved aside or stood at the ready as Scourge dragged his feet along the neatly polished floors. It was obvious like most mornings that the man was suffering a horrible hang over and his preferable choice of indulgences hadn't made it to his system yet enough to pick up his spirits to get him going. Tails saw this from the second floor of the club and swallowed heavily, he knew what was coming if he didn't get into a better mood soon, everyone knew.
From behind the bar the clubs dark broody bar tender watched from a distance as his boss walked over to where the dancers were having their drinks beginning Mondays usual routine. Shadow sighed wiping down the tables it was still the early hours of the morning. Red eyes watched as Scourge lowered his head down to a blue hedgehog stroking at a peach arm, it was clear Sonic was uncomfortable. The way his blue ears folded back and he blushed with a squeamish expression.
The response was always the same.
"Scourge, stop it. We have to open the club soon…"
Dark lids closed just as Scourge growls and he roughly pulls up Sonic by his arm making him cry out in surprise. Nobody could really do or say much though in fear of that wrath being turned on them. Pointed teeth exposed with the growl, his attention is focused solely on Sonic.
"I wasn't asking babe, you're coming to the back room with me. Or we could just stay here and have everyone watch, its fine either way."
A tan muzzle scowled, Shadow felt sick. The atmosphere of the club quickly turned sour. The dancers near the confrontation were quiet but the expression on their faces clearly said they were terrified. Amy looked like she was struggling not to fight back, Rouge besides her held her shoulders looking worried but she too was holding herself back. Everyone watched as the blue hedgehog bit his lip with a blush and looked up with a defeated face.
Scourge grinned in triumph, a sound like a small chuckle left his lips and Amy sitting at the table besides Rouge bit her lip and shook her head as she looked away sadly. As they walked away, the employees of the club waited around awkwardly hoping the abuse wouldn't be too harsh, at least for today.
Later when the king walked out of the back rooms with a smug expression the club was prepped and ready for opening soon. The green hedgehog adjusted the lapels of his leather jacket running a hand over his emerald quills smoothing them out and reached into his pocket for his signature red shades placing them above his head. He walked by a table with a group a dancers and snatched a drink chugging it down sliding the glass back to a girl with a wink.
"Alright, I'm out. I'll be back later tonight, if the guys don't get too crazy today. Tails kid, you're in charge!"
He waved walking away, his other hand reaching into his jacket for the pack of cigarettes he always had there.
As soon as the doors were closed life returned to the building. The club once again lit up and the employees within moved stretching out their anxious limbs. The dancers huddled around Amy who had started crying the others could hear their words of encouragement leading her away into the changing rooms. From a distance Shadow watched them go disappearing behind the stage beaded curtain. His eyes quickly shifting away from them towards the direction of the back rooms with an odd grumble. It was stupid, he knew, but his legs moved on auto piolet. Gloved hands unlocking the bar gate to leave walking through the array of tables towards the back rooms.
The lights in this hall way were kept a fuchsia pink, the walls in a color scheme of reds and pinks and the carpet that extended down the hall was plush and red. The scents of expensive incense wafting through the air as Shadow walked down the hall, ignoring the numbers on the doors instead heading towards the very back end. This was the VIP room, tan lips scowled in distaste reaching for the knob turning it slowly.
The sight was always the same.
That ever present cocky grin was cracked, turned downwards and bruised at the ends. Hands scrubbed angrily at the tears pooling over, the sound of muffled sobs filling the room made it difficult to breath yet he kept forward sitting on the edge of the heart shaped bed looking away from the crumbled form.
"Want me to get a bath ready?"
The sobs turned to struggled sniffles and he placed his hands in his lap twiddling his fingers there oddly trying to think of something to say to lighten up the mood. He couldn't really think of anything but he tried the first thing that came to mind.
"I'll cover you're shift and dance for you."
Pathetic bubbly laughter left peach lips and bruised arms lowered to reveal swollen emerald eyes. The whites there irritated and red, Shadow smiled softly. He turned to side on the bed looking over the blue form now sitting up on the bed against plush pillows hugging a thin sheet to his naked body.
"I don't know if you'd be able to fit in my outfits Shads."
A soft hum left tan lips, red eyes gentle as they stared at the cobalt hedgehog.
"What? You don't think I can fit in your fishnets?"
Sonic laughed wiping at his face with a sniffle, his knees coming up to his chest under the sheet. Shadow smiled softly, they both knew this was a sad attempt to lighten the mood but this had become common. Every time as soon as Scourge left the club, Shadow would rush right in to clean up the mess.
Red eyes took note of the body before him, the way a tremble would shake the sheets around the blue hedgehog every so often. Shadow closed his eyes lowering his head with an intake of breath.
"Do you think you can walk?"
It was a moment before the other spoke head raising with a slight smile.
"He went easy on me today, I think I'm good…"
Shadow nodded pushing off the bed moving around the room to pick up the mess of scattered items and clothing, he made a mental note to have the room sanitized before reuse. He was sure someone had preordered the room for the night but that wasn't important at the moment. Shadow held the clothing in his hands, fingers stroking the material sadly as he noted it was hardly worth wearing anymore, it was far too torn and ruined. Red eyes glanced at the shirt, noting it was one he had seen the hedgehog wearing often as he'd enter the club before his shifts. It was Sonics favorite race car red long sleeved sports sweatshirt. It was made of thin loose fitting fabric and it was slightly worn out already but Sonic loved this shirt, his particular infatuation with the word 'SPEED' in large lettering above the race car of the design.
Sonic looked over sadly with a sigh. He knew he'd been caught in his lie, but he evaded the conversation by commenting on the tattered clothing.
"Just throw those out. I'll find something to wear from the costume wardrobe…"
Shadow shook his placing the items within a bag and set it aside on the counter of a glass table.
"Are you sure you can walk Sonic? I can call Mina to cover your shift, you can work the bar with me tonight instead."
Emerald eyes rolled and a peach hand went up running through blue quills with a sigh. The sheet covering his form fell and the damage done became apparent making the situation all the worse.
"Don't… Don't say anything… I know it looks bad… But it doesn't feel as bad…"
"You're a terrible liar hedgehog… I'm assuming you want the pills today then?"
Sonic on the bed nodded stretching his limbs. His legs kicked off the bed and his arms raised above his head stretching out his back with a groan. Shadow rummaged through his pocket taking out his key chain. There was a metal vile on the ring and he unscrewed the top to reveal white tablets within the small cylinder container. He took out a few passing them over to the hedgehog who took them with a smile.
"I think I will take that bath though. I can't work feeling disgusting…"
Shadow laughed moving towards the door to give the other some privacy. He stood in the open door way looking back with a smile at the other hedgehog.
"I'll have the girls bring you an outfit. You know where I'm at if you need anything."
"Thanks Shads…"
As they nodded in approval Shadow closed the door walking away. He wandered away from the intoxicating neon pink halls of the back rooms with distaste. The incense, too overpowering now stung his nostrils with its spices and flowery scent. He never liked the stuff, but Scourge was adamant it gave the place atmosphere. Whatever that meant to his drugged up mind but, Shadow complied only to get the self proclaimed king off his back.
He let go of the breath he hadn't realized he had been holding, the relief apparent in the way his shoulders visibly slouched. Shadow wandered over behind the stage pushing back the heavy curtain of pink color changing crystals. All around the dancers were busily trying on outfits and looking through different make up pallets preparing for their day. He spotted a pink hedgehog in front of a large mirror trying to zip the back of her outfit with a struggle.
Amy flinched feeling gloved hands move hers away from her back. Her head turning back to see Shadow there and she sighed relieved looking back at her reflection in the mirror. Shadow zipped up her outfit she smiled up at him gratefully.
"Thanks, I've been messing with that for a while now."
"It's nothing. Actually I came over to ask if you know what Sonics outfit for today is."
She smiled sadly shaking her head with a sigh but she pointed over to a rack over by another mirror to the left of the room across from Amy.
"His outfits are over there. Scourge has a special set for him…"
He nodded walking over to the outfits running his hands on the expensive fabrics. Some of silk and others of metallic shiny colors along with a few jewel studded outfits that Shadow wondered if they were actually comfortable, he figured they would be horribly itchy. Amy giggled behind him and he looked over with a raised brow. She walked over with hands on her hips smiling cutely.
"It's alright, I'll help you choose one."
Shadow nodded as she walked over eagerly.
"Thank you…"
Quickly she fanned through the clothing clicking her tongue in distaste at some of the more revealing items until she came across she deemed one worthy with a gasp.
"This one's perfect. It's new and he hasn't worn it yet either. I think the green reflective glitter on the white would definitely bring out the color in his eyes."
She went over to a trunk of accessories reaching over for a pair of small fluffy white wings hanging off the lid and turned around handing the items to Shadow.
"All this?"
Amy laughed skipping over to the drawers.
"No silly, there's still the stockings and shoes, not to mention he still has to put on his stage make up."
Shadow rolled his eyes letting the girl go about getting more items till she filled up a spare gift bag handing it over to the hedgehog with a smile.
"Is this everything finally?"
"Yup!"
She nodded happily with a small skip making her breasts bounce in the tiny studded bra she was wearing. Shadow blushed looking away making her laugh more as he turned to leave the dressing room.
"Bye Shadey!"
The girls cooed out with giggles as the man left fuming red.
By the time Shadow returned to the back room Sonic was clean and out of the showers lounging on a couch, a towel around his waist lazily. He looked up from his from his phone as the door opened, Shadow walking in with the bag of clothing.
"Amy picked this stuff out for you so don't blame me if it's not to your liking."
Sonic snorted out a laugh getting up from the couch to take the bag inspecting the items with interest.
"Of course she would…"
Shadow raised a brow at the comment but Sonic waved him off walking back into the bathroom to change. The hedgehog stood leaning against the wall by the door till Sonic walked out of the bathroom fully dressed .
"Well this isn't the outfit I had in mind for today but it'll do, Shadow? What do you think?"
A red eye looked over, dark lids blinking before they opened fully viewing the hedgehog standing in the middle of the room. Tan lips huffed out a breath in surprise, Amy was right.
"It suits you…"
Sonic looked up suddenly with a blush, the gentle fond tone in Shadows voice hardly discrete. The ebony hedgehog coughed moving off the wall towards the other. His gloved hands coming out to grasp at peach shoulders, the pads of his thumbs rubbing circles on the peach fur beneath them. They stood there silent with Shadow staring down at Sonic while emerald eyes looked away nervously. There wasn't a single thing that Shadow could think of to say and instead he opted for adjusting the straps of the fluffy wings on Sonics shoulders looking into those green eyes momentarily getting lost before looking away with an intake of air.
"Come on… The others will start to worry…"
The blue hedgehog nodded smiling as they walked out of the room locking it behind them.
Later in the afternoon, Shadow caught sight of Sonics routine. The lights changing in an array of neon pinks, blues, and purples with smoke coming out from the sides of the stage.
The scene was easily captivating, his hand stopping its circular motion from cleaning the bar counter as his red eyes focused on the show ahead. Shadow watched as blue hips swayed against a metal pole dancing to a particularly recent new song. He remembered the beat, hearing the girls excitedly discussing ideas of a dance routine for the clubs shows.
Silver joined the front stage besides Sonic in a similar outfit to Sonics but black and glittered with the many sequins stitched to his attire. Shadow leaned on the bar watching them from a distance, nobody was ordering drinks anyways. Amy slithered her body against Sonics their hands rubbing along their limbs sensually, both wearing smirks eagerly expressing their excitement as the beat picked up and the female vocals on the speakers went into a rap. Amy swung a leg around a metal pole rolling her hips against it and spun on it playfully with a giggle. Her leg extended outward as her pink quills fanned out with the movement.
Shadow smiled from the bar, Amy loved dancing and it showed as she moved about the stage with nothing but smiles and giggles and it made her look beautiful. His attention quickly focused back on Sonic though as he spun towards the edge of the stage blowing out glitter to the crowd making Shadow laugh. It was a stupid move but funny none the less, he knew Tails was watching somewhere from a distance mentally fuming about the mess he'd have to clean later. He could see Silver roll his eyes at Sonic as they continued their dance walking to opposite ends of the stage for Sonic to come forth for the finishing number.
Most nights Shadow wasn't this lucky, the place usually too crowded around Amy and Sonics shifts he'd be too busy passing out drinks to pay attention to the dancers but when he did have the chance he stole the moment to observe the shows in interest, especially the nights Sonic was dancing.
The blue hedgehog moved to the beat of the music, his movements fluid like water as he swayed and rolled his hips. The glitter on his outfit reflected prettily against the white fabric coming off in shades of yellows and greens against the neon lighting. Just like Amy had said, the colors reflected off the glitter accented Sonics emerald eyes. He smiled at the thought resting his chin on a hand continuing to watch the show, a soft smile set upon his tan muzzle as he focused on the blue hedgehog center stage. Sonic had lowered his knees down to the black reflective floor of the stage. His hips lifting in the air, pointed blue tail pointing upwards as he crouched down crawling to the front of the stage like a predatory animal. It was an interesting sight, with the angelic attire and Shadow found himself swallowing thickly pulling at his tie. Tight glittery tiny white shorts stretched as Sonic came back up, his hands reaching down to grasp his knees spreading out his legs with a smirk on his face as the song ended rolling his body out towards the crowd and winked ending the song.
Shadow blinked, the people sitting around at the tables watching the show clapped and whistled as the hedgehogs exited the stage for the next act. They were making their way towards the bar obviously thirsty after their dancing. They hoped onto the bar stools with laughter and friendly chatter as Shadow mixed their favorite drinks in front of them.
"Ugh and that glitter, really? Over do it much Sonic?"
Amy giggled at Silvers comment, finally Shadow walked over to the group with their usual drinks. When he got to Sonic however, his gaze lingered wanting to say something but he closed his eyes deciding against it letting the group chatter between themselves until he was called into the conversation.
"What did you think Shadow? We worked all weekend on that routine."
Shadow looked over at the pink hedgehog who had started sipping her red glittery drink. She swirled the berries in the glass waiting for a response.
"You don't need reassurance from me Rose, you know the performance was flawless as ever. And you were all very stunning."
She giggled with a wide grin making him chuckle at her childish behavior she was cute though so he never teased her about it, nobody did. Silver besides her chuckled rolling his eyes at the older broody hedgehog.
"Okay Shadey, whatever. Quit flirting with us so much and one of us might actually date you."
Sonic burst out laughing despite the comment, Shadow smiled at least the morning fiasco hadn't soured the day completely.
Luckily for them, Scourge and his crew were held up downtown Westopolis in a cop chase after robbing a couple places. He wouldn't be returning that night, and with any luck they wouldn't have to see him for a couple days. Every time the cops got involved the green hedgehog would go missing and only resurface once the heat died down.
The clubs employees closed down the place peacefully for once and everyone began to leave the building one by one as the random few finished up with individual clients in the back rooms. By the time everyone was gone the clubs main floor was left empty except for Shadow who was doing a final sweep of the bar and Sonic laid stretched out on another smaller near by stage taking a nap as he waited for the other to finish up.
Tails came downstairs from the sound booth with a tired smile. He pulled off his tie with a sigh walking over to Sonic laying his head on the hedgehogs stomach in heavy heap. The tired muffled groan that escaped the teenager made Shadow huff out a chuckle as he put away some empty bottles and locked up the cabinets.
"Okay you two, we can go now."
The both sighed dramatically making the ebony hedgehog shake his head at the siblings. They got up gathering their things and they walked over, Sonic had a key ring swinging on his finger with a smirk.
"Bet you didn't even know I took these."
Shadow smiled letting the hedgehog have this, he knew the key had gone missing earlier but he knew it was because Sonic needed the pain pills in the vile on the key chain. He placed his hands on his hips as the other grinned.
"You cheeky little thing…"
Tails laughed besides them. The group gathered their things locking the building behind them and left the club.
It was Monday when the boss walked with a particularly bad mood. This wasn't uncommon though, the beginning of the weeks were always much the usual and the employees of Club Chaos moved aside or stood at the ready as Scourge dragged his feet along the neatly polished floors.
