Second part alert!

(As typing this as of 5-10-2021, the following was written by past/drunk me, and I feel compelled to leave it in lol).

I'll respond to reviews/ questions at the beginning before the story begins, so if you don't want to bother, go right on ahead and enjoy~

Quick responses/ Clarifications/personal thoughts to reviewers and audience! (Contain spoilers of COB and character's backstories):

Exusiai's 'sister': It was noted to me that Apple pies' sister isn't actually her sister, to which I have already known that and had originally planned for the info to be known via subtle hints/ a side story I've been thinking about (which is still going to happen for you Slice of life, romance, and comedy people), but to those who didn't know, She had grown up with her adoptive sister (whether or not the sister had parents that Exusiai also called family also wasn't told, so I'm presuming it was just the sister as Exusiai's family, since her first words were "sister").

The Incident of Kazdel: We may not truly know what happened with Phoenix (Suffering), Mostima and Exusiai's "sister" (aka OC Lithiai) or why they were truly there. It could be humanitarian aid, armed transportation of goods there/ somewhere else, but needs to pass through, or ulterior motives. It could be presumed that Mostima was the one that pointed her gun at her 'Battle Sister' aka Exusiai's sis, and ended her for an unknown reason, but I believe in the other theory. Posted by u/Laulicon on reddit (god bless this person/ they give great theories/lore analysis on Arknights, so check them out!) it was said in the dialogue that Mostima pointed her gun at the 'Squad Leader', but that does not necessarily mean that it was Exusiai's sister. It could be, by all means, her, but it doesn't make sense to make it sound like the two were different people altogether (unless bad translation, so then never mind).

So, here are my thoughts on what might have happened: an order was given (a morally gray or all-around bad command), infighting occurred amongst the squad, Mostima pointed her gun at Squad leader for a reason (greater good/save someone she cares), She is brought back and punished for her crimes/ forced to work in a secret group (again, check out Laulicon's lore on this, it's what I believe the most), she searches across Terra while working/under the pretense as a messenger for Penguin logistics to collect relics(her staves that can control time) or other high valuable rarities, hidden to the rest of Terra. I feel she works as a sort of Arbiter like in the Halo franchise. An individual sent on high-risk missions to complete for Notarial Hall and its' bidding an unknown reason?.

Exusiai's sister died and/or M.I.A. and/ or ended with Laterano seizing her away so Exusiai can't see her during that incident in Kazdel, which causes Exusiai to chase after Mostima for the truth.

Conclusion: That's my conclusion/responses/ clarification on the lore and other points that were needed to be said. Again, its my own interpretation and my own spin on it while adding OCs into the mix. So a few things was changed, but I feel this is an important talk to have for the many lore lovers (myself included) who feel I may have missed stuff or didn't catch (by all means, I ain't perfect to catch it all).

Thanks to the reviewer who brought this up. Sorry for the one who posted said review, I may have been slightly (heavily :3) drank when I got the review and may have deleted it (I still have your receipt in my email, so thanks again!). I hope you understand my mindset coming into this story (as is everyone else who reads this, hope you enjoy it all).

So, after all that has been done, let us continue with the story of Lyle!

To Be Normal

*Present day… a few months after the Sauin festival. *

One day… Lyle thought as he fixed his uniform and tactical vest, reminiscing about the events that happened that day.

On his vest, a radio on his upper left shoulder that has a connected earpiece leading to his ear. The letters 'LGD' plastered in white on the center of his vest along with the symbol of Lungmen on the right shoulder of his long-sleeve collard black shirt he was wearing underneath the vest. Two forearm protectors on his arms, as well as a pair of gloves, his left hand covered and his right fingerless. Along with black, lightly padded knees, and shin guards just above his black combat boots. Along his utility belt is a black handgun, located on his right hip. Finally, the iconic yet unknown ominous, longsword in its' scabbard rested on his left hip.

Visibly deep in thought, he was half-heartedly patrolling around the perimeter of the scene. Currently his unit, currently under command of Senior Superintendent Swire, along with the head of the LGD Special Inspection Unit, Madam Ch'en, surrounded a small apartment complex near the edge of the slums of Lungmen; Suspected of a small, yet dangerous Siracusan gang operating in the area.

The leftovers from the Sauin festival. Lyle thought as he shifted the memories of that festive night. I swear we got all of them already.

He was soon brought back to reality when he overheard the gathering crowd along the perimeter.

"Why does he look so weird, mommy?"

"What is he, a Sarkaz or a Sankta?"

"Why doesn't he have a halo? And whats wrong with those wings of his."

"These damn Sarkaz just keep getting scarier every time I see one."

"Why is he even in the LGD?"

"Quiet, he'll hear you."

Just the regular banter and slander, ignore them. Lyle murmured to himself. He was a special kind of Sarkaz, a Shade sub race to be exact. They were rare, by all means, and their looks can vary depending on the race opposite of the Shade Sarkaz parent. For his case, his Shade Sarkaz mother had him with his Sankta father. An odd, yet taboo relationship that caused him to have a fading set of wings like his father. A strange, shadowy ooze and presence lingering with his wings and a single, black horn located on the right side of his face, facing forward with a sharp tip, but no wire like tail and no glowing halo.

Lyle himself, despite his racial traits, was a relatively normal looking young adult. Approximately 5'10ft (182cm) tall, his brown eyes matching his caramel skin and his usual unkempt, black crew cut hairstyle. He usually maintains shaving, but he does occasionally sport the five O'clock shadow. While he wasn't crazy strong and stocky like the usual Sarkaz male, he had a more lean, slightly athletic build like his father. Deciding to be more mobile in order to make up for the lack of strength, he trained in order to have the speed, agility, and quickness to defeat his foes. Though his looks aren't anywhere near gawking levels to warrant response, his racial traits are the main reason why many turn his way, causing him to return the signature snarky, wry face and sneering personality; a defense mechanism he developed during his time in Laterano to ward off unwanted actions towards him. His actual personality is shown only to those he trusts. A more laid back, even comedic side of him that tell jokes, both good and bad, but never fails to laugh himself afterwards.

But they're right… I am a freak. Lyle thought as he ran his hand through his short black hair. Before he had to hear any more of the snarky remarks and succumb to the inevitable inner self-depravity, the blaring sound of a radio from a nearby drone was heard with an all too familiar voice.

"CITIZENS! PLEASE STEP AWAY FROM THE PREMISES AND REMAIN BEHIND THE PERIMETER LINE, THE LGD HAS THE SITUATION UNDER CONTROL!" Soon some of the crowd had begun walking away, yet still remained near the edge of the perimeter set. The voice that came from the loudspeaker, Superintendent Swire, later reappeared and focused her attention right at Lyle, and much to his dismay along with a chill going up his spine, she made a beeline to him.

"How many times do I have to tell you to direct traffic and set the perimeter, Detective Lyle!" Swire chastised him.

"About 4 times, including just now." Lyle retorted with a wry smile and a wink, Swire able to see that all too iconic look, even if his shades are covering his eyes.

"I ought to have you transferred to the archives department, maybe that will remove that cocky look." Swire pouted.

"Well, if you did that, you'll miss out on the many opportunities of my everyday attempt to piss off Cobalt." Lyle retorted, clearly enjoying the irritation coming from Swire.

"I think that's a win win situation for me…" The banter between the Superintendent and Detective was cut off when the sounds of gunfire and a ramming of the accelerator of a car was made clear as they both looked in the direction of the noise, the basement parking floor of the apartment.

Over the radio on much of the surrounding officers, a voice of the strict, yet virtuously young leader, Madam Ch'en, can be heard.

"Ground team, be ready, an escape van with armed Sicilian personnel is heading towards you." It was clear that Madam Ch'en was fighting inside the apartment, most likely taking care of the ringleader of the gang.

The Guardsmen quickly diverged the people back and prepared themselves behind the barricade of cars and cement blockades placed to protect themselves and stop the car simultaneously if it decided to force itself through.

"UGHH, why does SHE get to command MY unit on whether to be ready or not!" Swire, clearly mad that, what many could call her rival, just gave her another order.

"Well, sorry to state the obvious, Lil miss, but she is our boss~" Lyle trailed off, earning a few chuckles and snorts from his fellow guardsmen before he reached and armed the pistol on his right hip and aiming towards the entrance.

"Do NOT start with me, Lyle." Swire remarked in her usual higher pitched voice, shutting everyone up, her weapon, a long flaying mace, ready to be launched.

Just right as he was going to push her buttons further, the crashing sound of metal on metal was heard and the van Ch'en had described made itself known, hurriedly coming out of the building's underground parking lot and faced the bullets from the officers waiting.

The screeching of the wheels and the sound of the van metal exterior clashing with bullets, arrows, and bolts was heard as the van swerved and crashed into a post nearby thanks to Swire's flail. The guardsmen quickly surrounded the van and ordered the battered and bruised Lupos to come out with their hands up.

"Well, that was easy." an officer said as one by one, the members of the gang were arrested.

"Hmph, this couldn't have been done without MY deployment of the perimeter" Swire huffed next to Lyle in a cocky manner as she crossed her arms, clearly trying to gain some sense of credit in the situation.

"Whatever, Lil miss, if it helps you sleep at night" the voice of Madam Ch'en was heard as she casually walked out of front entrance of the apartment, sheathing her grey sword to her back while her other rose-colored sword still attached on her lower back. Never seen unsheathed to the eyes of any, including the main squad in the Special Investigation's unit. Alongside her, Hoshiguma and her large, triangle shaped shield in her hand with a light grin on her face, and Cobalt, with his large pump action bowgun with a covered bayonet tip at the end, slung over his shoulder. A large, cocky smile on his face as he rests his hands around the back his neck. A unique weapon that is ultimately meant for close range and roars like thunder. Firing only arrowhead tips that Cobalt manufactures personally, it could, however, utilize specially made arrowheads that contain electrical type arts manifested by Cobalt's natural affinity for electricity, causing pain for a chain of individuals that are unlucky to face the opposite end of that barrel.

Cobalt himself could be considered by many, even Lyle, to be the stereotypical frat, party guy, both by personality and by looks. The tall, 6'2 (189cm) Vouivre is described best like a super soldier in a video game or superhero movie. Light chestnut-colored eyes with his signature cobalt, gelled spiked hair style along with faint steel-colored highlights on the spiked hair portion. Steel colored pair of horns facing up towards the sky on the sides of his head with the tips of the horns being cobalt. His tail is black with a cobalt underside that follows from the base to covering the tip of his sharp, arrowhead-like tip. Along with a skin complexion similar to that of Ch'en and Hoshiguma, he is much more muscular and bulkier than Lyle. While also having formidable speed, reaction time, and endurance, it makes him a prime candidate for the all-around strongest in the LGD. Though, his inability to use his head at times is the reason why he hasn't ever been able to beat Ch'en and Hoshiguma ever in a sparring match. Confidant, flirtatious, and happy-go-lucky, Cobalt is the epitome of outgoing and loves making everyone laugh around him as well as flirt with ladies. Though he knows his limits and has his 'code' that he follows, he is a good guy all around. While a handful to deal with his antics, cares about people and can be depended on.

Cobalt was wearing a slightly modified uniform compared to Lyle. While Cobalt chose to wear an all-black compression undershirt, he wore an extra black compression sleeve to cover the rest of the left side of his arm as he wore his tactical vest over it the Lungmen insignia on his right shoulder. Also, on his right shoulder, a large, sheathed combat knife could be seen. On his left forearm, a protective bracer similar to that of Lyles, but on the superior side of his forearm, another combat knife can be seen and easily accessible. Metal protected riot gear gloves covered both his hands. He has a much more protected lower half than Lyle, with extra padding on his thighs along with the padded knees, shin guards and combat boots. On his utility belt and tactical vest, extra arrow tip cartridges to easily reload his unique weapon. A more commando like outfit compared to the more standard issue uniforms from other members of the LGD, but it perfectly matched his enforcer like style of fighting.

Cobalt became one of Ch'ens go to members for special operations alongside her right hand operative in Hoshiguma. Lyle, on the other hand, was still considered new compared to the others, with Ch'en having four years of combat experience and Hoshiguma having seven years on record; though he was unsure why she wouldn't be in a higher position, but he never wanted to ask or pursue the thought. Cobalt and Swire had three and a half years on record. He himself, on paper, only had about two years of experience during his time serving in the LGD, though he chose to not provide any other prior experience he's participated in combat wise.

Don't want the others to know my prior excursions…already have Chief Yenwu on me as it is. Lyle noted as he was soon brought to attention with Swire and Madam Ch'en coming into contact with one another.

As Swire attempted to give Madam Ch'en an earful for… whatever Ch'en did; Cobalt approached him and slung his arm around Lyle, who was crossing his arms as they watched their two superiors' bicker, while their senior, Hoshiguma, sweat dropped at the whole ordeal.

"Have fun out here, Cap? Shame you weren't chosen to breach inside." Cobalt said with a smirk towards his rival Lyle. The nickname jabbing at Lyle as he was the captain of his sports team back in college. Lyle and Cobalt, being captains from rival colleges, fought numerous times against one another, creating a rivalry that extends even after their time in college. Though Cobalt takes it much more seriously than Lyle… so Lyle wants himself to believe.

"Sure thing, though it did seem a lot more beautiful out here before your ugly mug arrived~" Lyle responded with his usual smile, though it could easily be seen that the phrase had affected him, his left brow twitching profusely.

"The hell you say about me?!" Cobalt responded as he and Lyle locked heads, wanting to rip each other to shreds. Joking or seriously was dependent on how severe the burn was.

"Enough you two." Hoshiguma sighed, putting her shield behind her back, and promptly slapping the two behind their heads, effectively shutting them up.

After all the bickering had ceased amongst the five, they gathered and watched as the mobsters and the leader was being escorted into the large prison car to be sent off to jail. The Lupos being in their typical business-like attire.

"Damn that guy is huge." Lyle stated, slightly surprised at just how freakishly big the brown wolf leader was before realizing what he said, and face palmed, bracing for the known reactions that followed.

"That's what she said!" Cobalt stated quickly with a large, goofy grin, earning snickers, and cackling from nearby officers who heard.

"Gross, pervert." Swire said in slight disgust, not enjoying the inappropriate comment made by Cobalt.

"Heh." a single chuckle was heard by Hoshiguma, who quickly stifled the laugh and returned to her usual stoic attitude that was usually seen during work.

"Boys will be boys." Hoshiguma heard from Ch'en, who had a second long smirk, either because of the antics by her subordinates or from the joke itself is unknown to Hoshiguma, before crossing her arms and glaring at the two male idiots next to her.

"Time and place, you two! Save it until after work or I'll personally see to it you're both dealt with properly." The model commander said with the all too familiar strict voice. She doesn't allow for such inexcusable behavior, but the occasional attempt at lightening the mood after months of consecutive missions and long hours of searching and restraining Lupos is always good for morale and everyone's sanity.

Cobalt simply just smiled in response and gave a goofy salute with a 'Aye, Madam' response while Lyle could be heard simply saying 'Dumbass' quietly towards Cobalt with his arms crossed, but Ch'en decided to not even bother.

Ch'en treats everyone at the LGD with a same level of respect and formality with the expectation of absolute compliance, but only a few does she actually hangs out and meet with during her time off work. When she first initially joined the LGD after graduating the Royal Victorian Guard School, she soared through the ranks of the LGD and being the leader of the Special Investigations Unit. She holds a harsh demeanor of being cold, unforgiving, and unforgivingly strict to everyone throughout that time. Straight to the point and never giving more than necessary to her coworkers, but recently she slowly began to be more open and talk to those closest and most dependable with her on a level beyond coworkers. Hoshiguma, being her first true ally and friend, she can rely on her more than her own skill to watch her back when needed, and the quantity of trustworthy allies only increased from there. Cobalt was also an unlikely candidate that she never thought she would be cordial with outside of work, but despite his antics and unwanted flirts towards her and Hoshiguma, which usually ends with work and physical repercussions, he is a dedicated person who wants to help others and extremely dependable to keep morale high and lift everyone's spirits. Even with Swire, whom she initially didn't even care to acknowledge despite growing up together along with a certain rat girl, became someone she can gracefully let her guard down and jeer in a rival-like manner. She may never tell it to her face, but she is a very reliable leader that is capable of keeping all under her command in shape and disciplined to the bone for any situation they faced and rewards them for going the extra mile. While scarcely they concurrently perform operations, she does feel to have a weight off her shoulders when delivering orders. Internally though, she felt satisfied, even grateful, to have individuals she can trust to back her.

This leads to her lingering problem she's been dealing with, Lyle. She knows very little about him on a personal level and his files don't speak of anything before his time in college. She's known of him a few years before she actually met him due to Cobalt's talks about his 'battles' with the younger Sarkaz on the basketball court. An intense captain that led his team through his actions rather than words. The stories from Cobalt were immediately questioned once she met him in person. What ultimately led her to be suspicious and skeptical towards Lyle was because of his recommendations that all but forced her hand to enlist him. Her Uncle and Chief Executive of Lungmen, Chief Yen Wu, recommended him to immediately join the Special Investigations Unit while training under the tutelage of Swire and Hoshiguma. Questioning further on the matter of his background or whether he could be trusted led to the only response she received from her uncle.

"Him being here in Lungmen and joining the LGD is that of a more… personal matter of his. As for whether he can be trusted. His will and his blade fights for a dream that could only benefit the wellbeing of Lungmen, but if you don't believe me, he will show you through his actions." Chen had repeated what he had said to her. She had been annoyed that he gave a response so ambiguous that it only led to her further discontent towards discovering the Sarkazian's true motives.

Was he was testing me again? What kind of lesson was to be learned by trusting a Sarkaz and his damned motives? Chen mentally noted before leaving it at that as she walked toward the other four who were standing next to each other.

As the five members looked on as the large sized Lupo boss was about to enter the vehicle. In a blink on an eye, he quickly broke the handcuffs with his brute strength and side swiped the officers restraining him, grabbing one of the guns in the process and aimed it at the five.

As Hoshiguma dashed in front of the four with her shield in attempt to intercept the shot. The others braced themselves for the bullet that never came. They had realized that the Lupo was still in the same firing position, but there was a familiar shadowy ooze that had enveloped around his body and the gun. Judging by the look of anguish on the Lupo's face, it was constricting his movements and causing pain. As quickly as they had come to their senses, they quickly disarmed and restrained him onto the ground, with Cobalt pointing his weapon's now uncovered bayonet at the Lupo's head, Hoshiguma putting her knee around his lower back, and lastly, Swire and Ch'en having quickly cuffed his hands and ankles, respectively.

"Shouldn't have done that, pal. Don't want to piss off this bunch." Cobalt said as he cocked his bowgun.

"Yeah, shouldn't have done that, Lupo." said by Lyle, his left hand was half-clenched in the direction of the Lupo, as if he was attempting to squeeze and crush an object in his hand, as a shadow substance radiated around his left arm. His longsword was unsheathed and carried with his right hand, his Sankta wings disappearing.

Lyle's sword in itself, was as unique and perplexing as its owner. The pommel of the hilt had a flat top shape in a silver color and a small middle section of the grip also silver; The entirety of both the grip and rain guard was black. The rain guard itself was in the shape of a diamond with the slanted eyes of a Sarkaz etched in the middle in silver coat. The cross-guard that the rain guard attached to was silver in color and sharp edges on both sides of it. The singular fuller (groove) of the blade was black in color and had incomprehensible runes of a long-forgotten language etched through the fuller. The blade's strong (base) is slightly thicker as it thins towards the weak (end) of the blade. The condition of the blade itself, from the base to the point, looks sharp enough to cut the very air as the point and edge could barely be seen but a thin black line outlining the sword. A silver coated blade, lastly, gave the entire sword its powerful presence as it was held by the Sarkaz. The scabbard that the sword was but a moment sheathed in, was black and silver in similar colors to that of the sword. The silver opening (locket) of the scabbard was designed in a 'V' like way, enough to where when the sword and the scabbard meet, the diamond of the rain guard is seen attached to the 'V'. The rest of the scabbard was all black except where the point (chape) of the blade is also silver.

The same shadow-like substance that was on the Lupo surrounded his longsword in a twirling motion, his usual brown, slightly slant edged pupils becoming white.

"Wa- Wait a minute. I've seen that sword before, Sarkaz." The mob boss said, a tinge in his voice apparent. "You, you let that monster work for the LGD?" The Lupo mob bossed stated towards Cobalt, fear in his voice much more apparent. Cobalt stared at Lyle with a confused look, who only responded with a shrug.

Was that fear? Noted by Hoshiguma as she dug her knee a bit harder on the wolf's lower back. It was obvious it was fear, but due to familiarity? Do they know each other?

"Huh? Maybe during the Sauin festival. I had to deal with a lot of you idiots on my day off." Lyle responded, slightly annoyed at the Lupo's wild comments at him. He stood next to the Lupo's head in a way for them to see each other's face.

"Perhaps you've mistaken me for another handsome Sarka-"

"Winchester Estate, Siracusa." The Lupo cautiously said, as if saying the words itself will cause harm to all that hear it. Lyle froze from that comment.

"Winchester Estate? You mean the Winchester family of Siracusa, correct?" Hoshiguma asked as she looked at the others, with shrugs and looks of confusion from Swire and Cobalt. Ch'en, meanwhile, was glancing at Lyle, who's begun staring daggers at the Lupo below him, his fist seen clenching a little more tightly around his sword.

A nod of confirmation from a now shaking Lupo. "Yes, one of the strongest and largest Lupo families ever seen in Siracusa for the past 100 years, before they were suddenly found massacred in their home. "The mob boss said, fear still in his voice but also anger being heard as he feebly attempted to shake his grasp, only for the rest to put more pressure subduing him.

"Okay, and what exactly does that have to do with me? Why are you here in Lungmen?" Lyle stated, daring the Lupo to continue further while simultaneously attempting to change the subject.

Don't you dare say that in front of me, you've no idea what happened.

"I created my own family from the underlings and lower packs that had previously served the head family and came here to create our own home of wealth in Lungmen. There were descriptions of two individuals that attacked the outposts and the main estate. One is a Sarkaz assassin was dressed in a black suit, uses an array of blades and firearms. Most likely the infamous 'Reaper'. The other description… a Sarkaz male holding a silver and black sword with unknown runes etched on during the attack. Multiple accounts from other activities prior comes from a member of the mercenary group filled with Sarkazians that once aided the Winchesters and that sword was being carried by one of the mercenaries. He had one horn and that… demon was behind him massacr-" as he spoke midsentence, the sword of Lyle was thrusted right in between the gap where the mob was speaking. If he had his mouth closed, or if it were mistimed by Lyle, it would most definitely had passed right through his cheeks.

"I suggest you stop talking, Lupo. Spouting such ill hearted fictions such as that nonsense is in bad taste. It wouldn't be wise to speak about such past incidents so sparingly." The voice with a murderous intent came out of Lyle, who had a malicious grin and wide eyes, before he subsequently drove the sword more into the concrete ground and closing the gap between the blade and the Lupo's inner mouth. The sword's runes and the etching on the diamond rain guard began to glow white and radiated a pearlescent white glow. Lyle stared right at the Lupo who returned with a look of terror before eventually being picked up by the others on the command issued by Ch'en.

"Stand down, Lyle!" Ch'en ordered, grasping the sword on her back and looked right at Lyle in a readied stance. The two stared at each, both daring the other to act first.

"Hmph." Lyle quickly withdrew his sword from the ground to his scabbard before crossing his arms again, the same wry smile forming feebly in attempt to conceal his anger as he looked away.

Great, now I've got to deal with this. He needs to be dealt with soon. Lyle angrily thought.

As the members quickly threw the Lupo into the vehicle, the Lupo made one last ditch effort to speak on the matter, but not before he suddenly bit his tongue hard and began bleeding profusely. A large whine came from the wolf as he retreated back in the end of the caged back of the vehicle with the rest of the goons. Ch'en had quickly noticed of the lingering shadow that revealed itself from within the Lupo's mouth just before he bit down and quickly looked at Lyle, who was getting reprimanded from Swire for the earlier outburst and a shoulder pat of emotional support from Hoshiguma. Ch'en discovered the wings of Lyle had reappeared and pieced together the clues in her mind.

When he uses his arts, he loses his wing. Ch'en concluded. She has never seen Lyle fully use his arts consecutively through the time she has known him, but that was the least important thought on her mind. She had, or anyone within the LGD for that matter, known about Lyle's previous experience or full story since he's been serving. The only clues that could be pieced was that he was born in Kazdel and grew up during the Civil War, he attended college in Lethanien where he and Cobalt met, currently in the LGD, and is close with a certain penguin from the Logistics company. What exactly is the connection between Lyle and the Winchester family? Was he actually a part of the massacre, or a mere mistake or coincidence made by the Lupo… no, there's no point in him tricking them.

What is the Sarkaz hiding… Could he be trusted? Ch'en's final thoughts were made before she walked away to speak with other officers to gather all items of interests and clean the mess.

"That's what you get for causing a bigger hassle than necessary, asshat. Now we got to make sure he gets medical attention when he gets there." Cobalt said as he slammed the back of the door shut, slightly irritated at not only having to exert more energy, but from what said commotion did to Lyle. They may get at each other's throats and he may get furious at his attitude, but he's still a friend, and he won't let others slander him while he's there.

You are just a whole enigma aren't you, Lyle. Cobalt's last thoughts before he heard the cheers and claps of the crowd a bit away from the vehicle. Luckily, they didn't hear what was said during the altercation.

"You saw how fast they all reacted? So cool!"

"Why did the Lupo not fire at the officers? He had a clear shot."

"Who cares! I expect nothing less from the LGD!"

Just your average day with the LGD. Cobalt sighed as he tried desperately to avoid the press and disperse the people.

*Later that night, at a local bar* (Play some sort of light-hearted/happy tavern music if you want)

"Finally, we get some peace n quiet, eh Jerry!" A grey, formal feline said.

"Tell me bout it, Tom. I've hadn't a good ol rest since dat dem festival ended." A brown Zalak responded, a farmer like accent apparent on his voice.

"Excuse me, Artyom! Can I get another round here for the lads!" A blonde Vulpo female requested.

"Aye, no worries, my friend! This rounds on us!" A large, burly Ursus, now known as Artyom, responded with a deep, prideful statement. The Ursus sporting a lumberjack style look with a beard and green/black checkered shirt.

A roar of cheering and clinking of drinks followed suit as the now off-duty LGD Lungmenites could finally experience a bit of R and R. The sounds of the bards being played in the background. Quite unusual to a more technologically advance city state in Lungmen, but according to Artyom, it brings a homey atmosphere that welcomes all. To which Lyle very much agrees with.

Lyle chuckled as he took a sip from his glass quietly at a table far from the celebration near the back of the establishment as he continued to write into a small, dark green notebook. It was 15 until midnight and they had finally got done with the large amounts of reports and answering to the press about the arrest of the remaining Lupo boss and his goons. The LGD members are currently relaxing at their favorite spot, the Blue Dragon. A small, cosey tavern and very LGD friendly, even giving members the place to themselves on certain days and special occasions. One such special occasion is the capturing of high-end criminals… so a common occurrence for the tavern.

All the present members were wearing a more laxed version of their otherwise work outfits or armored uniforms. Lyle was wearing his black work shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows and his sword he never leaves without was strapped to his back. Lastly, he wore a pair of thin-framed black glasses. Lyle hardly needs to wear glasses at all, but it was noted by a certain blue-haired female long ago that he looked less threatening with them on, so he wears them often when in public.

*Flashback – Years ago, Lyle's house, Laterano. Lyle's POV. Overcast: Raining* (Temporarily pause the tavern music if you want here)

"I look ridiculus with these things…" I grumbled, fixing the very bulky glasses I was wearing as I looked at the large mirror.

*giggle* "Well maybe with THAT pair. Hmm, let's see here…" responded the blue haired Sankta as she rummaged through the bag filled with a variety of glasses frames to find the one best suited for me. As I sat on the chair staring at myself with such ridiculous eyewear, I suddenly found myself staring at the person behind me as she searched inside the bag on my desk.

We were both wearing our school uniforms. The uniforms had a black, white, and blue color scheme to it. As a result, a variety of school outfits and combinations was worn amongst its student body. I wore a simple back tee under a school approved (barely) blue and white trimmed jacket underneath a black blazer with the sleeves rolled up near my elbows and the school insignia on the left side. Lastly, black, form fitting trousers and black school approved shoes. Mostima was wearing a white dress shirt with a blue vest atop it and blue-black trimmed blazer. A black and blue checkered skirt and lastly, short black socks and school approved shoes. While some chose to wear leggings, Mostima opted to not wear it, much to my enjoyment.

God she's gorgeous. Was the only thought I could form as I stared at her. I could never get over how the uniform… or any outfit for that matter just suited Mostima. She never failed to leave me flabbergasted. As she absentmindedly fixed her falling blue hair behind her ear with her left hand, her hair barely reaching the level as her shoulder blades. Her bright, bluish halo and equally colored wings only complemented her entire demeanor. She wore very little makeup even though Lithiai has been trying to have her incorporate at least a little bit of a makeup or eyeliner design, like a, and I quote, "cat eye" or something Lithiai recommended.

I keep telling Lithiai to not force anything that Mostima isn't 100 percent with. As long as she is confident and comfortable with herself, its fine.

Though I need to do the same thing … I chastised to myself internally before I began eyeing her body from the down up in a more… intimate matter. From her slim and slender legs, she always showed off, to her perfectly curved-

"Ahem. Oh Lyle?" As I moved my eyes to her face, our eyes met as she was staring back at me. A small smile and a blush plastered on her face. She had noticed me checking her out and I could feel my face go hot from being caught. As I quickly looked away, embarrassed, and flustered of having been caught. I once again heard giggling behind me with a sound of footsteps following. A pair of arms reached around me, enveloping me into a hug.

"Hmm~ What were you staring at just a second ago, Lyle~" Mostima whispered into one of my burning ears before moving back and blew air onto the back of my neck, sending shivers down my spine and feeling my entire body go several degrees hotter. I couldn't reciprocate or rebuttal in any sort of way. As if I was stuck in time, having to endure such embarrassing consequences of succumbing to the inevitable discomfort that is male puberty.

"Hehehe~ You're too easy. You know that, right?" Mostima said before she moved to face me and took off the abhorrently bulky glasses and put on a thin, black framed set of glasses.

"Wow… take a look at these, Lyle. I think these are perfect." Mostima affirmed as she stepped aside so I could look at myself in the mirror properly. It was as she said, it fit me fine. I repositioned it with my hand.

"You- you're spot on this time, Mostima. This will work, though, I doubt it will ch- change what the others at school will think of me." I stuttered pessimistically, still slightly flustered.

"Jeez, have some confidence in yourself. Don't worry about them. They're only scared of the things that aren't in their comfort zone, they'll warm up once they can see that you are as normal as any other person." Mostima asserted before she quickly straddled my lap, much to my embarrassment and pleasure.

"Besides…" Mostima said as she trailed her fingers up and down my chest before grabbing both of my cheeks, her blue eyes staring into mine.

"Mo-Mostima, what are you doi-"I managed to stutter out before she quickly silenced my lips with her own. Taking a quick kiss no longer than five seconds, she pulled away, a bright red blush tint on her face mirrored to the one on my own.

"I'd say you're a perfectly normal teenager like myself and everyone else… I was beginning to think you weren't truly interested in me~" Mostima said with a teasing smile.

"I-I do! I- I'm sorry I didn't mean to stare… no wait, I meant to, but I-"before I could further put myself in this disastrous pitfall of fluster. Mostima quickly put her finger on my mouth and leaned into my ear.

"I never said I disliked it. As long as it's you, I don't mind~" Mostima stated once again, smiling down at me. Unbeknownst to me, that was the tipping point and I felt something activate within me.

Before she and I knew it, we were suddenly on my bed, with me on top of her as she had her eyes closed and a look of slight discomfort. I had accidently teleported us on my bed! With the help from my dad, I had learned to suppress my arts so I wouldn't be randomly teleporting or destroying random things around me during school like when I first discovered my arts. I haven't mastered it yet, and it could be extremely dangerous to teleport anyone with me through the shadows.

"Mostima! Oh my god, oh my god. I'm so sorry! Are you alright!?" I urgently asked as I finally saw her eyes open and look around.

"I'm fine, just a little dizzy… did you just teleport us with your arts?" Mostima asked as she locked eyes with me, not at all shocked as I nodded my head.

"Yeah… I can manipulate shadows to grab things and even phase through it to move around. Why aren't you surprised at…" before I began to mumble even more I realized she snaked her arms around my neck. A dark red blush and smile on her face.

"I've known you had such abilities, since middle school, I recall. All those materials and belongings of bullies suddenly levitating or disappearing and reappearing in random places. Sometimes in little pieces…" Mostima chimed quietly as she pulled me closer to her.

"But enough reminiscing about that. Let's forget everything and enjoy ourselves~" Mostima finished saying as we enjoyed each other's company. The soothing sound of rain being heard outside.

*Present day* (resume the music!)

That was a good day. Lyle thought with a stupid grin, recalling the events that followed that evening.

But damn I couldn't do anything whenever she teased me, not like I mind it from her… gods, I was such a pushover! Lyle covered his face with his palms in embarrassment at the sudden prognosis he gave himself.

When we see each other again, I'll show her just how much I've changed. Lyle thought as he uncovered his face to reveal a devilish smile due to the conniving thoughts popping up in his head.

"Um… excuse me, sir?"

Lyle fell out of his trance as he eyes wondered towards the shy female voice to his right. His gaze met the equally brown eyes of a young, Ursus woman, no more than in her late teens. Like Exusiai, she has short, chopped brunette hair with a clip to prevent pieces of hair to cover her forehead and a pair of brown, Ursus ears on top. A few dimples covered both her cheeks with a simple pearl-like earring on her right ear. She was wearing the usual employee outfit that many of the other servers were wearing. A simple green apron and red flower design covered most of her body as she wore a dark green sundress underneath.

"Yes, Miss Anya?" Lyle responded formally and respectfully, trying not to intimidate the young girl. Unlike many Sarkaz, or people in general for that matter, he has had the prospect of manners and etiquette instilled in him growing up. He knew better then to respond with his usual attitude and risk, or at times guaranteeing, some kind of negative reaction or ill notion that can be added. Maybe even reinforced against him, at times.

"W-w-would y-you like another d-drink, sir?" The girl responded as she shakily raised a bottle of Lungmen Baiju. Though very popular amongst anyone native to Lungmen, it sure wasn't for Lyle.

"No thanks. I'll just take another set of rum and pop, please." Smiled the Sarkaz. Hearing a loud hum in response the girl ran off in a fast walk.

*sigh* "Tried my best there…" Lyle whispered to himself, knowing all too well that despite having been a regular since his time in the LGD, and being on friendly terms with the owner and her father, Artyom, Anya was terrified of him still.

Won't even attempt to drop the sir and be more casual with me. Lyle pouted mentally. Even after showing people that he isn't a threat to them, they just stand more cautious than ever.

"Anya! That's too many mugs for you to handle! Let me-"Artyom cautioned as he began walking out of the bar and head towards Anya, who was about to attempt to carry a stupidly large amount of glass mugs from the buzzed officers.

"Yes Anya, let us help at least." One from the gathering group of server girls said from afar as they headed towards the Ursin to support.

"No… I'm fine. See?" Anya managed to say as she lifted all the glass mugs all at once.

She got that Ursin strength alright. Lyle noted as he once again looked up from writing in his notebook to see the event take place.

Well, as long as she doesn't slip on anythi-

"KYA!"

"CYKA!"

Well damn… Abyssal grip.

Anya screamed and Artyom cursed in his Ursin language as she slipped over a wet area on the floor, and she threw all the mugs in the air. Much to the looks of horror amongst the workers and the few LGD who were sober enough tried to rush over several steps too late.

Anya had prepared for the worse as she slipped and everything moved in slow motion as she closed her eyes to an inevitable fall and clashing of glass that never came. She opened her eyes to see glass mugs floating in midair with a strange dark substance around each mug. She herself felt a strange, cold feeling wrap around her as she came to the realization that she wasn't on the floor, but instead floating.

"Are you alright, Miss Anya?" the voice of a slightly worried individual was heard as she was subsequently forced upright and felt her feet connect with the floor before the cold feeling disappeared. She looked up to meet the glowing white eyes of the Sarkaz who saved her. A warm blush suddenly forming on her face as she saw him warmly smile at her.

"Are you ok, Anya? I told you not to carry all those at once." she heard her father console and chastise her as he hugged her. Much to the embarrassment of her.

"I- I'm fine, dad. Now let me go, it's embarrassing." Anya said as she slightly pushed her father away after a brief hug.

"Artyom, I'm going to move the mugs over by the counter, is that fine?" Lyle said as Artyom and Anya looked at him with a look of confusion before looking at several members of the LGD. A few of which were still slightly frozen at the turn of events. Some were sitting with mouths agape at the floating glass mugs. Others had stood up in attempt to save the girl, but they themselves were also still, if not slightly swaying back and forth from all the hefty beverages they drank.

"… I'll take that as a yes then." Lyle said with an unsure smile in response to the confused looks of the tavern owner. He then moved his with grace towards the counter and all the mugs began flying toward the direction where Lyle had shifted his hands towards. Lyle then elegantly moved his hand up and down gently and on command, the mugs all neatly placed themselves next to one another all along the counter.

Lyle took the same hand and placed it on his chest before taking a deep breath, his eyes closed. Almost immediately the wings that had disappeared on his back reappeared once again, and his eyes turned back to brown as he opened them once again.

Lyle turned to face a round of applause and cheers from his Lungmenites guardsmen and tavern workers alike who witnessed the spectacle and gave a slight bow and a smile. Either due to the drink's effect or because he enjoyed the positive response, it didn't matter to him.

Artyom walked and stood in front of Lyle and gave the smaller Sarkaz a giant bear (pun hehe) hug and swung him around off the floor.

"Thank you for saving my daughter, young Lyle." The burly Ursin responded. "Please, if you desire anything. If its within my power, I shall give it to you."

"Please, Mister Artyom. I'm just doing the right thing and keeping your daughter safe." Lyle said as he raised both his hands up in attempt to calm the grateful father.

Anya herself felt herself go hot once again and was receiving teasing looks and elbow bumps from her fellow servers and friends.

"Ahh, a truly humble, morally-just, and a capable gentleman to boot! Please, I implore you to marry my daughter. I'll even give you the Blue Dragon after I retire. HAHAHA~" Artyom roared in laughter after such a proclamation of offering his daughter and blessing to the Sarkaz who was taken aback, embarrassed and flustered.

"FATHER!" Anya yelled. If she was red hot then, now she had practically exploded in embarrassment.

Goodness gracious…I can't even begin to wonder how Mostima will react if she heard about this. Lyle thought as he covered his eyes and blush to avoid seeing the looks of excitement as well as the sounds a variety of woos and cheers.

"Ehh~ shame on you, Anya. You should be grateful for being matched with him." An Oni girl said as she began eyeing Lyle with a smile.

"Sh-shut it, Reiko!" Anya stammered.

"C'mon, He may be intimidating, but he seems like he has a good heart, and he's exotic to boot! Look at him." A female feline quipped as she teasingly elbowed Anya.

"E-Erin, not you too…" Anya muttered as she found herself looking at the Sarkaz Sankta mix, who was currently being smothered by his coworkers. An embarrassed smile on him as he looked like he was trying to deescalate the situation but failing tremendously. His right hand on a necklace while his left hand was in a 'calm down' motion towards the LGD members.

Well, he isn't half bad… and he's really respectful and nice. Anya thought as she eyed him more before noticing that she was caught by Reiko, Erin, and the other girls. All of whom were giving her wide grins and all-knowing looks. Immediately she covered her face as she began thinking of all the romantic ideas that could be thought of.

I'm never going to live this down. Anya's last thoughts as she endured the onslaught of teasing and romantic advice given to her.

"Nice job saving the girl. I expect nothing less from our very own Lungmen Sarkaz." Tom chirped as he wrapped his arm around Lyle, standing on his left side.

"Didn't know ye such a smooth guy, ain't ya, Lyle. All dis so ya can get de girlz all smitten wit ya?" Said from Jerry, who was playfully punching his stomach and he heard a few of the workers giggling and teasing.

"N-no Jerry. I'm just being a good p-person. Besides I'm take-" Lyle began to say before the doors blew open to the arrival of four individuals ready to drink in celebration.

"I guess the party started without us, right Ch'en?"

"I suppose so, Hoshiguma."

"We could've been here sooner if it wasn't for Cobalt messing up that report… what's happening here?" Swire soon stopped her prior thought as she saw the spectacle that was unfolding.

"Huhhh? Eh, who cares about that… HEY LADS, LET GET THIS PARTY STARTED!" Cobalt cheered and grabbed a random mug and downed it in one go.

Cheers and more glasses clanking against one another as the night continued with the arrival of the senior workers and the LGD party animal showing up.

While Swire is the only member to wear the same outfit beside the protective gear. Ch'en with her LGD coat slung over her shoulder, Hoshiguma with a loosely button up white dress shirt with a black tank top beneath, and Cobalt, with a white collared shirt with a loose black tie.

"What's happening here, Linda?" Ch'en questioned as she, Hoshiguma, and Swire sat down at the now vacant spots. The previous seaters are now encircling Lyle, who's being forced to down a whole mug courtesy of Cobalt.

"Aye, sir. Lyle might get married here with Anya." The female Vulpo, now known as Linda, explained in detail the previous events that took place.

"… I see." Ch'en said with a raised eyebrow, receiving their drinks as she took a sip from it. While the sudden event of the proposal was interesting. What actually caught her interest was the fact that he once again used his arts so… casually.

"Wait… doesn't Lyle already have a significant other? Right, Hoshi?" Swire remarked as she chewed on a bit of fried fish, before taking a sip from her own glass.

"I believe so." Hoshiguma confirmed as she took a large swig from the mug. A quarter already gone.

"How do you two know this?" Ch'en questioned. Taking note of the amount Hoshiguma downed in one go. She'll have to train better if she's going to beat the titan drinking champion that is Hoshiguma.

"We were training him and saw his necklace. We told him to take it off and he said that it's too dear for him to take it off. Said it was given as a blessing from his girlfriend's grandparents." Hoshiguma said nonchalantly, watching Swire down the whole glass before asking for another one, clearly feeling the effects take place.

*hic* "He's not as secretive as you think he is. Just talk with him and he'll have a reasonable sponse." Swire slurred the last bits of her remark.

I guess I'll have to question him later then. Ch'en thought as they continued to watch the shenanigans the two idiots. Cobalt and Lyle were both on the table and began to sing the infamous 'Blue Dragon' song. The alcohol finally taking over Lyle as he lost all sense of self restraint and shame. While Cobalt was stone cold sober, but instead just doing it because… Cobalt.

*hic* "Hehehe, Lyle and Cobalt are dancing again like idiots." Swire said. Now red face drunk and hasn't even touched her second glass.

"You're drunk from the first glass…Lil Miss."

"DON'T CALL ME THAT."

"Hehe, oh how I love the Blue Dragon." Hoshiguma said before downing her drinking and heading towards the mayhem to break up… or even join in on the fun.

Ch'en just sighed and smiled as she drank and conversed with the others.

Just a normal day…

(One month before the rescuing of the doctor and the events of Chernobog).

Authors notes

Look, look, look. I can explain why it took so long… life and college.

Little known fact: I actually had most of this done when I posted the first chapter, but I didn't like how it came out, so I redid it all. All the while I was outlining how to progress the story and such.

What did you think of the 1st person perspective? I felt a bit out of touch with it, but hey, I'm going to be trying out all kinds of writing styles.

I'll be releasing the "OC Operators bios" soon so you could refer to those without having to remember a ridiculous amount of information and give more lore about them through there.

I'm also thinking of two more side stories (TBA, so look forward to that) and a whole miniseries dedicated to fluff and such (we all like a bit of fluff, don't lie).

Edit: Will make future edits for grammar mistakes… even after looking over it a dozen times, I still find mistakes. Sorry!

As for the story:

Have no idea of any of the ages the operators are, so I'm not going to bother attempting to have a specification on anyone (Though I believe Ch'en had said her age before, but I don't remember or possibly haven't gotten there yet in the story as of now on chapter 6. Hey, I'm taking my time, bite me). So, I decided that I will give broad generalizations and phrases (such as young adult, late teen, etc.,) to describe them as best I can for some or not give any at all for some (you know how it is with the whole 'I lived for hundreds of years' and still look hotter and young… unlike ya boi (yikes self-burn, but jkjk).

Until next time (which hopefully wouldn't take longer than it did, but don't count on it)!
