CHAPTER TWO: Sneak inside

Joe Hardy parted ways from his girlfriend, Iola Morton and smiled as his brown haired brother, Frank greeted him.

"How was your science class?" He asked as they fell in step beside each other. Frank shrugged before smiling. "Oh, come on, we know that you did great, didn't you?" The older Hardy grinned and nodded.

"Great job, Frank, but tell me, is that new girl, what's her name?" Frank groaned and rolled his eyes.

"Cathy," He answered as they walked towards their dirtbikes. Joe shook his head in disbelief.

"You still like Callie, huh?" He teased playfully. Frank glared at him as he hoisted his backpack on his shoulders more comfortable.

"We need to get home, Joe," Joe put his hands up in surrender and got on his dirtbike.

"I'm thinkin' that Cathy wants to go out with you," Frank put his helmet on and muttered something under his breath.

"What was that, Frankie?" Joe asked putting his own helmet on. His brother waved his hand annoyed and revved the engine.

"You know I'm still dating Callie,"

"I know, I was just teasin' you, bro," As they pulled out of the high school parking lot, Joe noticed a limo driving away from the school area.

"Hey, look,"

"What?" Frank asked then Joe pointed but it was gone. That was odd.

"Couldn't you see it?" Frank shook his head.

"Don't know what you're talking about but we really need to get home. Aunt Gert said something about cleaning out the garden."

Joe pulled into the Hardys' driveway, he sighed as he pulled of his helmet. He did not want to do anything with the garden out in the backyard. All he wanted to do was rest from the fistfight he had earlier with a jock. He touched his stomach gently and nodded. He was definitely gonna be sore right there. He saw a flash of black beside the house, his senses on high alert.

"Frank, I'll be right there," He called as his brother walked inside the house. Joe cautiously started to walk to the other side of the house when someone very agile jumped down from a rope. Joe followed the rope with his eyes...it was hanging from his bedroom window. Why would someone rob a house in the middle of the day?

"HEY!" The person looked up from the backpack he was holding and gasped. Joe started to run towards the guy but suddenly out of nowhere the same limo was there beside the street. "STOP!" The guy jumped inside the open limo and they pulled out of there like a tick on a dog. Joe groaned before running to his dirtbike as fast as he could. He looked at the limo's license plate: XAVIER.

"Joe! What are you doing?" Joe's dad was standing there since he had just pulled into the driveway.

"Hey, Dad, I saw someone just climb out of my window! I really should catch them."

"Wait what? Calm down, Joe, where did the person go?"

"The person went into a limo,"

"A limo?"

"Are you sure you aren't imagining things?" Joe restlessly looked back and forth between his dad and the empty road called Elm Street.

"Its too late to catch up with him anyway," He mumbled.

"You okay, Joe?" He nodded as his dad put his hand on his shoulder.

"Well, if it was a limo then did you see the license plate?"

"Yeah, it was XAVIER." Dad's face paled as Joe studied him curiously. Why would he freak out with a license plate name?

"Dad?"

"Huh?"

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, nothing at all." Dad answered quickly. "I'll go tell Ezra about it. Why don't you go inside and rest?" Joe nodded and walked into the house.

Xavier smiled at Caine. "Is that the evidence?"

"Yes sir," The detective grinned and thanked the driver. "I had never thought someone could run that fast." He commented to Stanton who shrugged.

"Where would you like to go now, sir?" The driver asked the millionaire.

"Did you tap the phones also?" Xavier asked.

"The home phones, sir," Xavier smiled and looking at the documents in his hands.

"So you say that Fenton left the New York City police department?" Caine nodded. "Do you think he took my son during that time?"

"He could have," Caine agreed. "What we really need is to have a statement from Fenton Hardy that he admits adopting the kid OR kidnapping him." Xavier looked out the window and asked Caine where they should go for now.

"The Bayport hotel?" The detective suggested.

"Yes, I would like to keep a low profile." The driver heard the request and started to drive to the nearest hotel. "Now, when do you think that I could finally meet my son?"

"Hmm... Tomorrow. I have the whole plan ready and waiting." Xavier's heart lifted a little at the thought of meeting Shaun.

"Thank you, Evan, thank you very much for everything that you have done for me."
