Chapter 2
Harry and Sam were scrubbing down the dining hall tables.
"I know for a fact that some of the officers go to that brothel in Molestown," Sam said.
"I believe you're right," Harry agreed.
"Don't you think it's a little unfair. They make us take our vows while they sneak off for a little sully on the side," Sam said. "It's idiotic saying we can't defend the wall unless we're celibate."
"You seem rather upset about it," Harry mused.
"I like girls just as much as you do," Sam said. "They might not like me as much. I've never been with one. You've probably had hundreds."
"No. Just one quite a few times," Harry admitted. "A whore named Ros. Beautiful with red hair."
"I like red hair," Sam admitted. "What about?" He held his hands up to his chest.
"Gorgeous," Harry admitted. "I was thinking about it. If I ever become Lord Commander I'm going to relax the rule on celibacy and make visits to that brothel a reward for good service to the watch. Once a month if you perform good service you get a night at the brothel."
"You might actually get more recruits if you do that," Sam admitted.
Harry glanced towards the door.
"Thorne is coming," Harry warned.
Thorne came through the door and the two teens looked hard at work. This allowed them to avoid another lecture from the prick of a training instructor.

Back in Kings Landing
Ser Hugh was killed by one of the Lannister Bannermen as an "accident" during the joust at the tournament held in honor of the hand of the king. Littlefinger had started playing mind games with Sansa too. Meanwhile Ned wasn't even present. He received a visit from Cersei Lannister in the tower of the hand. Cersei was gorgeous. But by all accounts she seemed a royal bitch.
"You're missing your tournament," Cersei told Ned.
"Putting my name on it doesn't make it mine," Ned said.
"I thought we might put what happened on the kings road behind us," Cersei said. "That ugliness with the wolves." Harry hadn't witnessed the incident. But he had picked up enough since then to know that Sansa's wolf Lady was no longer there. Nor was Arya's wolf Nymeria. "And forcing you to kill the beast was extreme. Though, sometimes we go to extremes where our children are concerned. How is Sansa?"
"She likes it here," Ned revealed.
"She's the only Stark who does," Cersei noted. "Favors her mother. Not much of the north in her," Cersei added.
"What are you doing here?" Ned asked.
"I might ask the same of you," Cersei said. "What is it you hope to accomplish?"
"The king called on me to serve him and the realm," Ned said. "And that's what I will do until he tells me otherwise."
"You realize you can't change him or help him," Cersei said. "He'll do what he wants which is all he has ever done."
"I'm beginning to realize that," Ned admitted.
"You sound like you made a good soldier. You take your orders and carry on. I had always wondered how Robert ended up on the thrown when it could have been either of you. It makes sense. Your older brother was trained to lead. And you were trained to follow," Cersei mused.
Brandon Stark had been killed before he could take up the Lordship at Winterfell.
"I was also trained to kill my enemies your grace," Ned said, rather overt for a threat.
"As was I," Cersei replied.
Harry knew Cersei was a right bitch. But he would like to bend her over.

"Fuck that was good," Ros said as her lover lay on top of her, his manhood still buried inside of her core which tingled with the last dregs of her orgasm.
"Ugh," Harry managed to articulate.
Ros laughed and said, "It must have been good for you too if you can't talk properly."
She felt him draw out of her and shuffle back to the bed. She had been bent over a desk in his room. As far as Ros was concerned they were in an upper class room at an inn in Wintertown. In actuality Harry had hit her with a slight confundus spell and apparated her back to his room in Castle Black. Ros laid on the bed next to him and cuddled into his side. Lord Harry was one of her favorite patrons even if she knew very little about him. He had been coming regularly to see her and inside of her. Normally a man told her more secrets by this point. But the mysterious Lord Harry wasn't spilling any secrets, only his seed.
"I can practically sense your mind at work," Harry said.
"I'm just wondering more about you," Ros said.
"I can tell you more. But you'll need to sign something first," Harry said as he got up and retrieved a contract from one of the drawers of his desk.
Harry brought a piece of parchment and a quill back over to Ros. He handed it to her.
"I know you are literate," Harry said.
Harry had seen Ros eying his books. She had a couple of books stashed away in the whorehouse where she lived. Ros quickly scanned over the basic magical contract.
"This simply says I will not betray anything you tell me in confidence to others unless given your permission nor will I work against you," Ros said.
Ros quickly signed it thinking she was unbound. When the contract glowed and disappeared she felt something settle within her, something strange.
"You know me as Harry. And I do go by that name," Harry said. "But I also have another name."
Harry dropped the illusion covering his face. Previously he had looked like his Harry Potter appearance. Now he looked like Jon Snow.
"Jon Snow," Ros said, recognizing the only man to ever turn down her charms after he had already paid her for her time.
"Yes," Harry confirmed. "But please call me Harry when you see me appear otherwise."
"What are you? Was that magic?" Ros asked.
"Yes. That contract you just signed binds you from telling anyone about this. But I felt it was only right for you to know," Harry said. "Plus I have a proposition for you."
"What is it?" Ros asked while trying to digest the fact that the man who had been fucking her was Jon Snow and that he could use magic.
"If there ever comes a time where you no longer want to work as a whore to any man who can pay your coin seek me out. You can be mine to use personally for sex. I won't pay you every time we have sex. But I will provide you a place to live, food, and will look after you. I can also provide you a little spending money from time to time," Harry offered.
"And can you make me magic items?" Ros asked curiously.
"Possibly," Harry admitted.
"Let me think about it. Will you still come to visit me before then?" Ros asked curiously.
"Of course," Harry said.
"Can you show me some more magic?" Ros asked.
"Sure. Let's show you the top of the wall first. But you're going to want to get dressed more warmly," Harry said with a grin.

The first village Harry had raided contained several maps of the original Valyrian continent. Harry used it to find other villages. A week after the first village had been looted he looted his second village. He decided to get the villages nearest the coast first and work his way inwards towards the capitol. Already he had more money than would be easily spent in one lifetime. The Valyrians had been a wealthy people. That didn't mean Harry was going to stop looting.

Salazar taught Harry how to construct a pensieve. Harry had started copying memories into glass vials for all of the events he was seeing either in his dreams or via his snitch probes. Watching the tourneys going on in Kings Landing at the moment were proving very entertaining. Ser Loras Tyrell was almost killed by the Mountain, a monster of a man named Gregor Clegane, when Loras tried using a dirty trick in their joust. Loras used a mare that was in heat to throw Clegane's charger off. Harry enjoyed Sansa's reactions from the crowd to all of this. It was obvious that Sansa was smitten with Loras from the moment he presented her with a rose. But it was equally obvious that Loras Tyrell only had eyes for Renley Baratheon, the King's younger brother. The two men were what was called in this era pillow biters. They only liked men.
"Sansa is gorgeous," Harry admitted.
While he had access to Jon's memories, there was no sense of the familial affection or obligation that Jon had. That wasn't to say Jon had any such strong feelings for Sansa. She hadn't treated Jon kindly. Harry could appreciate just how attractive Sansa was.
"Should you ever wish to bed Sansa I would see nothing wrong with that," Salazar said.
"Other than the fact she is my half-sister," Harry pointed out.
"In this day and age that hardly matters. Besides, there are magics to prevent any children from being conceived with defects caused by inbreeding," Salazar said. "Do me a favor. Go over to your desk and take out a piece of parchment."
Harry paused the memory he was watching and did so.
"Now what?" Harry asked.
"Spill a drop of blood on the parchment and repeat the following spell," Salazar said.
Harry did so. What appeared on the parchment was not what he expected.
Aegon VI Targaryen A.K.A. Jon Snow
Rhaegar Targaryen & Lyanna Targaryen knee Stark
Aerys II Targaryen & Rhaella Targaryen knee Targaryen Rickard Stark & Lyarra Stark knee Stark
"Bloody hell!" Harry swore. "How did you know?"
"The way Eddard Stark acted whenever Jon asked about his mother was damn suspicious," Salazar explained. "I was reviewing Jon's memories of those times. A simple inheritance test explains quite a bit. So that would make Sansa not your half-sister but your first cousin. It would also make you the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.""Why would it make me the rightful heir? I'm guessing the story everyone was told about Rhaegar kidnapping Lyanna is not true," Harry said.
"Judging by the fact that your mother was obviously married based off of her name I would say there is something wrong with that story. I'm betting Ned Stark is one of the few who knows the true story. I wouldn't be surprised if Benjen knows either," Salazar suggested.
"This is a lot to digest," Harry said. "Blood hell, there is incest on both sides of my family tree. It looks like my grandfather Rickard married a relative. My grandfather the mad king married his sister."
The family tree went back even further. There were some branches that grew back together. Incest was quite common in that world. Harry had a lot to think about.
HP – IC – GoT – HP – IC – GoT – HP – IC – GoT – HP – IC – GoT – HP – IC – GoT – HP
Harry had developed a new snitch probe that didn't actually have to beat its wings to stay floating. This way they were truly invisible. The earlier version could be silent thanks to a silencing charm. But the movement of air by the wings could sometimes be detected. The first of his new type of probes were dispatched to monitor Lord Varys and Peter Baelish. He wanted to know what these spymasters were up to. The next would be dispatched to monitor the likes of Cersei.
It was through this means that Harry observed an interesting meeting between Varys and Illyrio Mopatis, a merchant prince and Magister of the free city of Pentos.
"He's found one bastard already," Varys said. "He has the book. The rest will come."
"And when he knows the truth, what will he do?" Illyrio asked.
"The gods alone know," Varys replied. "The fools tried to kill his son." It was pretty easy to work out from context already that they were talking about Ned Stark. "What's worse is they botched it. The wolf and the lion will be at each other's throats. We will be at war soon my friend."
"What good is war now. We're not ready," Illyrio pointed out. "If one hand can die, why not a second?"
"This hand is not the other," Varys replied.
"We need time. Khal Drogo will not make his move until his son is born," Illyrio pointed out. "You know how these savages are."
"Move fast I reply. This is no longer a game for two players," Varys said.
"It never was," Illyrio replied.
That conversation was full of revelations. Harry had discussed it at length with Salazar. What it boiled down to was that Illyrio and Varys were secret Targaryen loyalists trying to see either Viserys or Daenerys seated on the Iron Throne.

Harry witnessed when Ned got the news from a brother of the Night's Watch that Lady Catelyn Stark had captured Tyrion Lannister. Apparently Catelyn believed that Tyrion was responsible for an assassination attempt on Bran. Harry didn't believe that. He was pretty sure that someone else was manipulating events to make the Starks believe the Lannisters were responsible. It was quite possible that other Lannisters were responsible. But Harry didn't believe it was Tyrion.
Shortly after finding out this news Ned was summoned to a small council meeting that Robert Baratheon actually attended.
"The whore is pregnant," Robert declared when Ned walked into the room.
"You're speaking of murdering a child," Ned objected.
Harry found Robert Baratheon to be an asshole of the utmost order. He had no right to put his hatred for Rhaegar onto Daenerys. Robert had an unhealthy hatred for all Targaryens.
"I warned you this would happen back in the North. I warned you," Robert said. "But you didn't care to hear. Well. Hear it now. I want them dead, mother and child both. And that fool Viserys as well. Is that plain enough for you?"
"You'll dishonor yourself forever if you do this," Ned said.
"Honor! I've got seven kingdoms to rule. One King, seven kingdoms!" Robert cried. "Do you think honor keeps them in line? Do you think it's honor that is keeping the peace? It's fear. Fear and blood."
"Then we're no better the mad king," Ned said.
"Careful Ned. Careful now," Robert said.
"You want to assassinate a girl because the Spider heard a rumor," Ned said.
"It's no rumor my lord. The princess is with child," Varys spoke up.
"Based on who's information?" Ned probed.
"Ser Jorah Mormont," Varys answered. "He is serving as advisor to the Targaryens."
"Mormont. You bring us the whispers of a traitor," Ned said with derision. "Half a world away and call it fact."
"Jorah Mormont is a slaver, not a traitor," Baelish felt the need to interject. "Small difference, I know, to an honorable man."
Baelish made the term honorable sound foolish.
"He broke the law, betrayed his family, fled our land. We commit murder on the word of this man," Ned said.
"And if he is right. And she has a son?" Robert interjected. "A Targaryen at the head of a Dothraki army. What then?"
"The Narrow Sea still lies between us," Ned said. "I'll fear the Dothraki the day they teach their horses to run on water."
"Do nothing. That's your wise advice?" Robert said. "Do nothing until our enemies are on our shores!" He looked at the rest of the small council. "You're my council. Council! Speak sense to this honorable fool."
Varys said to Ned, "I understand your misgivings, my Lord. Truly I do. It is a terrible thing we must consider, a vile thing. Yet we who presume to rule must sometimes do vile things for the good of the realm. Should the gods grant Daenerys a son, the realm will bleed."
"I bear this girl no ill will. But should the Dothraki invade how many innocents will die? How many towns will burn? Is it not wiser, kinder even, that she should die now so that tens of thousands might live," Grandmaester Pycelle suggested.
"We should have had them both killed years ago," Renly added.
"When you find yourself in bed with an ugly woman best close your eyes, get it over with. Cut her throat," Baelish added. "Be done with it."
The council had just proved they were all a bunch of yes men.
Ned was disgusted and approached Robert saying, "I followed you into war. Twice. Without doubts. Without second thoughts. But I will not follow you now. The Robert I grew up with didn't tremble at the shadow of an unborn child."
"She dies," Robert said.
"I will have no part in it," Ned said.
"You're the king's hand Lord Stark," Robert said. "You'll do as I command or I'll find me a hand that will."
Ned removed his pin that marked him as the Hand of the King and threw it on the table before the king.
"Good luck to him," Ned said. "I thought you were a better man."
"Out. Out. Damn you! I'm done with you," Robert told Ned. "Go! Run back to Winterfell! I'll have your head on a spike," Robert threatened as Ned walked out. "I'll put it there myself you fool."
Ned ignored Robert's shouts as he walked out of the small council chambers and past the iron throne. Ned left to pack. Baelish came to see him after that.
"What is it?" Ned asked.
"His grace went on about you at some length," Baelish said. "The word treason was mentioned."
"What can I do for you?" Ned asked.
"Before you return to Winterfell I can take you to see the last person Jon Arryn spoke to before falling ill if you remain come nightfall," Baelish said. "If that sort of thing still interests you."
"I don't have the time," Ned said.
"It won't take more than an hour. But as you please," Baelish said.
Baelish was a master manipulator. Ned was being baited into a trap.
Ned turned as Baelish was leaving and told Jory Cassel, "Round up all the guard and have them stationed outside the girls' chambers. Who are your best two swords?"
"Hughard and Will," Jory replied.
"Find them and meet me at the stables," Ned ordered.

Littlefinger's Brothel
"She looks like him," Mhaegen, one of the whores who looked to be about fifteen, said while holding her baby for Ned to see. "Don't she my lord? She has his nose. His black hair. Tell him when you see him my lord. If it please you. Tell him how beautiful she is."
"I will," Ned said.
"And tell him, I've been with no one else. I sweat it my lord. By the old gods and new. I don't want no jewels or nothing. Just him. The king was always good to me," Mhaegen explained.
"When Jon Arryn came to visit you what did he want?" Ned asked.
"He wasn't that sort of man m'Lord," Mhaegen assured. "He just wanted to know if the child was happy, healthy."
"Looks healthy enough to me," Ned said. "The girl shall want for nothing," Ned added.
He then left the room to find Baelish waiting in the next room with two girls.
"Brothels make a much better investment than ships I've found," Baelish said. "Whores rarely sink."
"What do you know of King Robert's bastards?" Ned asked.
"Well, he has more than you for a start," Baelish said.
"How many?" Ned asked.
"Does it matter? If you fuck enough women some of them will give you presents," Baelish replied.
"And Jon Arryn tracked them all down. Why?" Ned asked.
"He was the king's hand. Perhaps Robert wanted them looked after. He was overcome with fatherly love," Baelish suggested.
Neither of them believed that.
"Come," Ned said as he began to leave.
Jory was rather distracted by one of the two whores in the room. Ned nudged him. When they exited the brothel it was to find a lot of spear wielding Lannister men assembled. Harry was prepared to apparate in and get Ned out. Jaimie Lannister rode up on a white horse.
"Such a small pack of wolves," Jaimie said as he dismounted.
"Stay back ser. This is the hand of the king," Jory called.
"Was the hand of the king," Jaimie corrected. "Now he is just lord of somewhere very far away."
"What's the meaning of this Lannister?" Baelish demanded as he exited the whorehouse like he wasn't the one who alerted the Lannisters of Ned's location.
"Go back inside where it's safe," Jaimie replied. "I'm looking for my brother Tyrion. It seems he had some trouble on the road."
"He was taken at my command," Ned lied. "To answer for his crimes."
Jaimie drew his sword. Jory drew his as well. All the Lannister men lowered their spears.
"I'll bring the city watch," Baelish said as he backed into his brothel.
"Come Stark, I'd rather you die sword in hand," Jaimie said.
"If you threaten my lord again," Jory began.
"Threaten," Jaimie interrupted. "As in I'm going to open your lord from balls to brains and see what Starks are made of."
"You kill me and your brother is a dead man," Ned pointed out.
"You're right," Jaimie admitted. "Take him alive. Kill his men."
The Lannisters attacked. Harry's soul concern was Ned as he prepared to apparate in with an illusion covering his face. Harry hadn't yet mastered an invisibility spell on himself. The best he could hope to do was a disillusionment charm. Within the first few moments of battle Jory's two best swords were impaled by spears. Jory himself was killed by a dagger through the eye by Jaimie Lannister. Ned was then left to engage Jaimie in sword combat. A ring of Lannister spearmen surrounded them.
The two men fought. Jaimie Lannister was one of the best swordsmen in the realm. Ned was no slouch and held his own. But then when they backed off for a moment one of the Lannister spearmen stabbed Ned in the back of the calf with a spear. Jaimie actually looked upset at this as Ned was driven to one knee. Jaimie walked over and knocked out that spearman. Another Lannister spearman brought Jaimie his horse.
"My brother Lord Stark. I want him back," Jaimie said before riding off, his men following behind.
Ned collapsed to the ground with only a few spectators nearby. Harry had learned a little healing magic from Salazar but not enough. He cast a spell to stop Ned from losing blood. He took the opportunity to cast a piercing curse at the downed guard who had stabbed Ned. It wasn't long until the city watch came along and took Ned back to the Red Keep.

Ned awoke in the Red Keep to the sight of Cersei and Robert Baratheon beside his bed.
"Your pardon your grace. I would rise. But," Ned began while trying to sit up.
But he couldn't.
"Do you know what your wife has done?" Cersei asked.
"She did nothing I did not command," Ned lied.
"Who'd a thought she had it in her," Robert said.
"By what right do you lay hands on my blood?" Cersei demanded.
"I am the King's Hand," Ned tried.
"Were the King's Hand," Cersei corrected.
"Both of you shut your mouths," Robert shouted as they continued to argue. "Catelyn will release Tyrion and you'll make your peace with Jaimie."
"He butchered my men," Ned said.
Cersei snorted and said, "Lord Stark was returning drunk from a brothel when his men attacked Jaimie."
"Quiet woman," Robert said.
"Jaimie has fled the city. Give me leave to bring him back to justice," Ned said.
"I took you for a king," Cersei told her husband when he didn't immediately respond.
"Hold your tongue," Robert said.
"He's attacked one of my brothers and abducted the other," Cersei said. "I should wear the armor. And you the gown."
Robert turned to her with a look loathing. He drew back his right hand and delivered a powerful smack to Cersei's left cheek that saw the bitch rock back grabbing her face. When Harry watched this he grinned. He wasn't a fan of hitting women. But Cersei Lannister was an utter bitch.
"I shall wear this like a badge of honor," Cersei said after recovering herself.
"Wear it in silence or I'll honor you again," Robert declared. Cersei threw one last heated look at Ned before leaving the room. Robert turned back to Ned and said, "See what she does to me? My living wife." He poured himself another cup of wine. "I should not have hit her. That was not kingly."
"If any woman could drive a man to hit her it would be that woman," Ned said.
Robert snorted and nodded.
"Coming from you that makes me feel better," Robert said.
"If we don't act there will be a war. We have reason to believe it was Tyrion Lannister that sent an assassin after our son Bran," Ned said.
"What reason?" Robert asked.
"The dagger used by the assassin was a dagger Littlefinger said he lost in a bet to Tyrion. It's made of Valyrian steel so is quite distinctive," Ned explained.
"Ned, you're too fucking honorable for your own good. You haven't had to live in this den of thieves and liars. Someone is running a game on you. I wouldn't trust what Littlefinger says," Robert advised.
"Catelyn vouched for him," Ned said.
"Yes. And your Tully raised wife who has been living in the North for decades is such a good judge of character. She hasn't seen Littlefinger since he was a boy. People change," Robert advised. "I'm half a kingdom in debt to the Lannisters. I cannot press this any further. Gold is what pays for armies. And the Lannisters have it more than anyone else."
"I believe I should return to Winterfell with your leave," Ned said. "I need to think on this."
"You aren't well suited to being here," Robert admitted. "I need you to stay. But perhaps it wouldn't go amiss for you to send a raven north for more household guards, say a few hundred more. I will tell you this Ned, I never loved my brothers. That is a sad thing for a man to admit. You are the brother I chose. We can talk more when I return from my hunt."
Robert tossed the pin for the Hand of the King on the bed.
"You're going on a hunt?" Ned asked.
"Yes. Killing things clears my head," Robert said before he left.

Harry had found numerous materials on dragons in the libraries from Valyria. This included how to hatch the things. Usually a powerful magical fire gained through the sacrifice of slaves was required to hatch them once the warm-up process was done. But Harry thought he would have other options since he was magical. Placing an egg in heat began the warm-up process. Harry started heating one of his eggs at the same time Daenerys began doing the same with hers by instinct. She placed one of her eggs in the coals of a fire. When it had heated up she picked up the egg without being burnt. The magic of the dragons awoke some of the Targaryen family magic.
Harry cringed when a few days later Daenerys was forced to eat a raw horse heart in a Dothraki ritual. Harry didn't understand all of what was going on. But he knew it was some type of ritual to do with her baby.

Harry wasn't able to spend all of his time watching Ned live in Kings Landing. He had other duties he had to attend to as a trainee for the Night's Watch. He caught a recorded memory of Ned issuing the orders to have Gregor Clegane hunted down because Clegane was leading a band of brigands to savage the Riverlands. This was most likely in response to Catelyn Stark knee Tully taking Tyrion.

"I want to take you up on your offer. I will come be your kept woman," Ros informed Harry. "Where will I live?"
"I purchased the brothel in Molestown. I want you to manage it for me. I'm going to fix the establishment up. You won't sleep with any of the clients and will have help. You'll have a really nice room there," Harry explained.
"I can do that," Ros agreed.
"What made you decide that way?" Harry asked curiously.
"Well I was already leaning that way anyway. But pretty soon I expect there will be war. A lot of young men will be sent off to fight. There won't be a lot of need for whores in Wintertown. It was either head towards Kings Landing to work there. Or I come work for you. I like you a lot better as a prospect," Ros explained.
"You won't regret it," Harry assured.
Ros felt he was right.

Ned told Sansa and Arya that he was sending them back to Winterfell. Sansa did not like that one little bit. Arya didn't want to leave her sword instructor. The same night Ned was going over the last book Jon Arryn read. The records of the Baratheon children born all showed them to be born with black hair. Then Cersei's children came along and all were blonde haired. Ned realized that Cersei's children were not Robert's children.
At the same time across the Narrow Sea Viserys Targaryen made an idiot of himself. He tried to push too much with Khal Drogo and got burned for it. He literally had a pot of molten gold poured on top of his head and died. Harry wasn't sure what to think about that. He had threatened his sister's life. So he thought it was good riddance to bad rubbish.

"Salazar, is there a way to get Sansa to form a crush on someone else?" Harry asked his teacher.
"Many ways. But the easiest would be a spell which would send her naughty dreams about a particular person. Might I suggest using your Harry Potter form to do so," Salazar suggested.
"Teach me," Harry requested.

Solar of Hand of the King
Ned Stark felt something was off. He looked up from his desk where he was working and had to do a double-take. A small creature that almost looked like a woman with twigs grown into her hair was standing in the room before him.
"Eddard Stark," Rosetta said. "I am Rosetta."
"You're…are you a child of the forest?" Ned asked.
In fact this was nothing more than a complex illusion generated by Harry. Harry was hidden under a disillusionment charm in the room holding still.
"Yes. Your people called me that. I came here to warn you," Rosetta said.
"Warn me of what?" Ned asked.
"Our ancient enemy the White Walkers, the Others, have awoken in the north. It won't be long before they gather their army and lay siege to the realms of men. You have a few years at most," Rosetta warned.
Harry had heard stories at the wall of the Others moving. He wasn't sure if they were true or not. But he figured it wouldn't hurt to warn Ned.
"No," Ned whispered. "After so long."
"There is more," Rosetta said. "You are handling affairs here in the far south very foolishly. You need to flee. Do not deal with these southerners. They lie. Do not trust any of them. You must make all haste north. If you do not then you will die south just like your father and brother."
"I will," Ned promised. He had already been preparing to take his girls north. "I may have some difficulty getting out myself."
"This may help," Rosetta said as she appeared to set a small figurine of Ned on his desk. "Spill a drop of blood on this and it will grow to your size and shape. For maybe three days it will act like you. Then the magic will break down."
"Thank you," Ned said.
And then Rosetta was gone. Ned blinked. She had just vanished.

Gardens of the Red Keep, A Few Hours Later
"You appear to be in pain," Cersei said as she approached Ned.
"I've had worse Your Grace," Ned said as he stood.
This was the golem of Ned. The real Ned was already secretly making his way out of Kings Landing. To outsiders it would seem he was merely preparing a ship for his daughters to be sent back to Winterfell.
"Perhaps it's time to go home," Cersei suggested.
"I would like nothing more," Ned said. "The south doesn't seem to agree with you."
"I will speak to my husband about releasing you from your duties as hand," Cersei said.
"I don't know that you'll be able to convince him," Ned replied.
"You'll find I know how to convince my husband when I really want to," Cersei said.
"In regards to the matter of your younger brother, I have received word that he was judged in a trial by combat and came out the victor," Ned reported to which Cersei nodded her understanding.
Unknown to Ned, Cersei had dispatched her cousin Lancel to try to get Robert killed on his latest hunt.

The Wall, The North
"I miss girls," Sam complained from where he stood on the wall next to Harry.
"You know…I may be able to sneak you out to the brothel in Moletown. Or I may be able to sneak one of the girls to your room easier," Harry suggested.
"Really?" Sam asked interested.
"Perhaps," Harry said. "What is that? It's a horse."
"We should blow the horn," Sam said.
"If there was an actual rider yes. That horse has no rider. We should blow a single horn and then go down," Harry said. Sam nodded. They did just that. When they got into the courtyard the old bear Jeor Mormont, the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, was watching some of the men trying to quiet the frightened horse. "That's my Uncle Benjen's horse," Harry said.
Harry used a summoning charm to summon some hairs from Benjen's saddle. He would later try a tracking spell with them.

Meanwhile Down in Kings Landing
Renly Baratheon was the one to inform Ned's golem of the mortal injury Robert Baratheon had sustained while hunting. A bore had gored Robert in the gut. It was a mortal wound for those times. Harry could have saved the man with healing magic. But Robt was not someone Harry wanted to save. In fact he didn't even bother seeing what the man said on his deathbed. Harry simply stored the memories for later in case he wanted to view them.

Harry had finally found her. He had managed to locate Daenerys in Vaes Dothrak. It was the only city in the Dothraki Sea. He was even then watching as she walked through the market place with her attendants and Ser Jorah Mormont. Seeing Daenerys so close made him realize just how truly beautiful she was. When Daenerys found a wineseller in the marketplace and he learned who she was he meant to give her a free casket of good stuff.
"You honor me good ser," Daenerys said with a laugh as her bodyguard accepted the casket.
Harry knew of this plot from watching Varys plan it. The man was meant to poison Daenerys. Harry had prepared just the series of spells. Suddenly the flaming letters that spelled out poison in the common tongue burned themselves into the casket which the bodyguard dropped. The assassin himself suddenly found the word assassin brand itself on his forehead.
A bewildered Daenerys caught a glimpse of the man from her dreams before it vanished even as her bodyguard captured the assassin.

Castle Black Courtyard
All of the trainees were assembled.
"You came to us as outlaws," Jeor said to the assembled trainees. "Poachers, rapers, killers, thieves. You came alone, in chains, without friends, or honor. You came to us rich. You came to us poor. Some of you bear the names of proud houses. Others only bastard names or no names at all. It does not matter. All that is in the past. Here on the wall we are all one house."
Sam looked over and said, "You're allowed to look happy. You are going to be a ranger. Isn't that what you always wanted."
"I think Thorne is going to screw it up for me," Harry said. "Besides that. I'm more concerned about finding my uncle."
"I wish I could help you. But I'm no ranger," Sam said. "It's the stewards life for me."
They returned to paying attention to the speech.
"You have all learned the words of your vow. Think carefully before you say them," Jeor said. "The penalty for desertion is death. You can take your vows here tonight at sunset. Do any of you still keep the old gods?"
Harry stood and said, "I do my lord."
"You want to take your vow before a heart tree as your uncle did?" Jeor asked.
"Yes," Harry replied.
"You'll find a weirdwood a mile north of the wall," Jeor said.
"My lord. Might I go as well?" Sam asked as he stood.
"Does house Tarly keep the old gods?" Jeor asked.
"No my lord," Sam answered. "I was named in the light of the seven."
"Why would you forsake the gods of your father and your house?" Thorne asked.
"The Night's Watch is my house now. And the Seven have never answered my prayers," Sam answered. "Perhaps the old gods will."
"As you wish lad," Jeor agreed. "You've all been assigned an order according to our needs and your strengths."
Harry only listened for the highlights. Pyp went to the stewards. Grenn went to the rangers. Sam went to the stewards. And Jon was assigned to the stewards. Harry took it with grace. He later found out that Jeor Mormont requested Jon as his personal steward. Again, Harry didn't say a thing. He was very close to knocking Ser Alliser Thorne off the top of the wall.
Later that evening Jon, Sam, and four other men of the Night's Watch went north of the wall. It was a brisk walk to the heart tree. As soon as they got there Harry and Sam knelt down.
"Halt," Rosetta said as she appeared out of the forest.
"By the gods," Gared said as he took a step back. "It's a child of the forest."
"Yes," Rosetta confirmed. "These two must not swear your oath."
"Why not?" Dwayne asked.
"This one has a destiny far beyond the Night's Watch," Rosetta said while pointing to Jon. "He will serve among you for a time and even become your leader for a time. But he must not be bound to the Watch by an oath. This one will aid him," She added while pointing to Sam.
"Alright," Gared said.
"Just like that?" Dwayne asked.
"When one of the children of the forest tells you to do something it is best to do it," Gared said.
"There is more. The White Walkers have awoken. In a few years they will come to the wall. This one will be essential to defeating them. Do not tell others that these two did not take their oaths until the time is right. Until they are ready to reveal it themselves. You may tell of the White Walkers awakening though," Rosetta said.
"Of course," Gared said with a bow.
Then Rosetta vanished.
"Fuck me," Dwayne said.
"Well that was unexpected," Harry said as he rose form his kneeling position.
"Aye," Gared agreed. "I guess as far as everyone else is concerned that you are now part of the Night's Watch until you are ready to be released."
Harry nodded. Sam was still too shocked.

Robert Baratheon died that evening as well. Joffrey Baratheon immediately moved to assume the throne. Cersei fearing that Ned Stark had learned too much from his investigation into Jon Arryn's death ordered Ned arrested. She got his golem. The real Ned Stark was on his way north with his daughters.
Meanwhile in Vaes Dothrak Khal Drogo swore that he would take his people across the Narrow Sea and conquer the iron throne because of Robert Baratheon's assassination attempt against Daenerys and their unborn child. He would see his child sitting on Baratheon's throne.

A Black Cell Beneath the Red Keep
"Varys," Ned Stark's golem said.
"You must be thirsty," Varys said dressed in his guard uniform. He came and handed Ned a skin of water. "I promise you it isn't poison."
Ned took the water and drank.
"Thank you," Ned said.
"You'll be happy to know that it appears your daughters are safely on their way back north. Cersei appears to be happy having you as a prisoner. She believes that with you as a hostage she can make sure the North's good behavior," Varys said.
"That explains why she took me," Ned said with a nod of understanding. "What excuse is she manufacturing?"
"She is saying that your attack on her brother was just the first step in a cunning and twisted plot to question Joffrey's legitimacy. She is saying you were planning on making up some lie about Joffrey and that she is still unraveling the plot," Varys said.
"She has more cunning than I thought. Draw attention to the major weak spot her son possesses without actually naming it so that if anyone else says anything about it then she can point it out as a law, draw doubt upon it," Ned said.
"And you have more cunning than I thought," Varys admitted. "You just confirmed you knew of Cersei's secret but did not reveal it to her. I feared that you would."
"What of my men here in the city?" Ned asked.
"I managed to convince Cersei that perhaps you could be used a hostage against them as well. With you captured before they could intervene they laid down their swords. She sent them out of the city to head back North. This served to prove to Cersei that your being a hostage was a good move," Varys said.
"I thank you," Ned said.
"No need to thank me. I preserve life whenever possible. But when necessary I see it end to preserve even more," Varys said.
With those words he left.
