A/N: hello! so I've never done a fic like this before, but there are going to be several flashbacks sprinkled throughout the story. here's the first. I hope you enjoy!
Summer Vacation; Part One
Sarada had been looking forward to this family vacation for weeks. She and her parents were leaving the bustling city of Konoha to stay at this massive cabin situated right up against a gorgeous freshwater lake. It was almost a miracle to be able to spend time with her parents, both of which were incredibly busy with their careers.
As one of the foremost trauma surgeons in the country, her mother, Sakura, was always in high demand. She often worked crazy long hours and got called in almost every time there was a complex surgical case, making her gone most nights and sleeping throughout most days.
Her father, Sasuke, was an archeologist, who was away from home more often than not. His research and findings about the ancient Otsutsuki civilization made him very well respected in his field. But with her father gone on expeditions for months at a time, almost always without cell phone service, Sarada rarely even spoke to him.
She had high hopes that during this vacation they would finally be able to connect and build the relationship she had always wished they could have.
Maybe she should have suspected something was up when her mom showed her pictures of the cabin because it was much bigger than her family of three needed. Even so, Sarada was still startled when they walked in the door and a blonde man practically jumped on her father.
"Sasuke!" he greeted with an enthusiastic bear hug.
"Could you least let me get in the door?" her father grumbled. When the man laughed and stepped back, Sarada finally got a good look at him.
"M-Mayor Uzumaki?!" she mumbled, so completely confused.
"Hi, Sarada! It's so good to see you again!" Naruto grinned before turning to Sakura and pulling her in for a hug. Before Sarada had the chance to question what the hell the Mayor of Konoha was doing at their cabin, his wife, Hinata walked over to them.
"I'm so glad you guys could make it," she said with a sweet smile. "Do you need help with your bags or anything?"
The dots soon began to connect in Sarada's mind. No, no, no. This was not happening!
If both his parents were here that meant… her dark gaze anxiously scanned the room, only to find Boruto lazing on the couch, playing his handheld game with his feet propped up on the coffee table.
Bored blue eyes flickered up to meet her and Sarada sighed, "You have got to be kidding me."
"Ew, who invited you?" Boruto scowled.
Her initial plan was to avoid Boruto completely, but within the first day, it became apparent that that would be impossible.
He just seemed to pop up everywhere she was and they would end up bickering about the stupidest things, like what movie to watch or what game to play. As much as she didn't want to interact with Boruto, Sarada didn't want to hide away in her room and miss the opportunity to hang out with her dad.
But for some unfathomable reason, Boruto seemed just as interested in Sasuke, always up in his face, asking questions about his expeditions with stars in his blue eyes.
Most of the bedrooms were on the second story of the cabin, but Boruto and Sarada were given the two in the basement that connected to the big entertainment room. As such, they were forced to cross paths quite frequently.
It was early afternoon when Sarada found herself venturing outside toward the lake behind the cabin. She stood out of the edge of the dock breathing in the fresh air and taking in the scenery. It really was gorgeous, it might be nice to pull up a chair and read outside later.
She hadn't noticed him swimming up until Boruto pushed himself out of the water to sit up on the dock. "My, my, look who we have here," he grinned as he ran a hand through his damp blonde hair.
Sarada scowled in his direction, his existence alone put her in a foul mood. She could hardly fathom how the girls in her school year found him attractive.
Sure, his face was conventionally handsome and his eyes were a stunning shade of blue… and he was rather fit, with clearly defined arm and chest muscles… Sarada couldn't help when her gaze fell, staring at a droplet of water as it slithered down the ridges of his tanned abs… She shook her head out of her trance.
It really didn't matter if he was good-looking because his annoying personality canceled everything out!
"You look hot," Boruto said as he stood up with a devious smirk on his lips.
"Excuse you?!" Sarada tried her best to sound disgusted by the idea that he would compliment her despite the fact that her cheeks suddenly colored a bright shade of pink.
He took slow steps towards her, cornering her on the edge of the dock. "I said you look hot, maybe you should go for a swim."
Oh. Hot as in temperature, not hot as in attractive.
But before Sarada could even reconcile with the fact that she was a little disappointed that he didn't mean the latter, an involuntary squeal escaped her lips as Boruto scooped her up into his arms.
"Ah! What are you doing!? Let me go!" she shouted, flailing in his tight hold.
"Okay!" Boruto grinned before tossing her off the edge of the dock.
Sarada tensed as her body was enveloped by the chilly lake water. Her skin prickled from the unexpected change in temperature. The moment her head resurfaced from the water, she gasped out a big breath and screeched, "what the hell is your problem?!"
She tore her glasses off and glared at him with furious dark eyes. But apparently, her angry stare was absolutely hilarious to him, because Boruto's laughter seemed to grow even louder. He bent over holding his stomach as he chuckled, "that's what you get for tattling on me for pulling the fire alarm last year!"
"You are so immature!" she screamed as she swam back toward the dock. Her clothes were heavy, soaked in water. Boruto scurried away toward the house still laughing to himself.
The following morning, Sarada walked up the stairs into the main floor to find most everyone was already awake. Her parents and Naruto were in the living room chatting, but the delicious smells drifting from the kitchen had her walking in that direction.
"Good morning, Sarada," Hinata greeted, standing in the kitchen, donning a frilly lavender apron. She flipped pancakes at the stove while Himawari set the table. "Would you be a dear and go wake up Boruto?"
Her mouth opened, ready to protest interacting with that nuisance, but then a mischievous smile spread across her face as she was struck with an idea. "Of course," she replied. "I just need to grab something real quick.
Sarada slipped out the back door, grabbed a bucket from the side of the house, and bounded toward the lake.
She was filled with devilish glee as she softly opened the door to Boruto's room, finding him sprawled out on his bed with the blankets tangled around his legs. Sarada carefully hugged the bucket to her chest, making sure the contents didn't slosh around too much as she snuck over to the edge of his bed.
"WAKE UP!" Sarada shouted and proceeded to dump a bucket of cold lake water right on top of him.
Boruto jolted awake, his blue eyes wide and confused until they landed on a giggling Sarada. "What the fuck!?"
Her hand covered her mouth as she struggled to contain her riotous laughter. "You should've seen your face!"
"You bitch!" Boruto growled as he tried to launch himself at her, but she dodged with a squeak and he stumbled and fell to the ground, his legs still tangled up in his sopping wet sheets.
"Time for breakfast!" Sarada called over her shoulder as she ditched her bucket and scurried up the stairs.
It was a solid ten minutes before Boruto finally made his way up the stairs, grumbling as he carried a wad of wet sheets in his arms.
"Look who decided to join us!" Naruto jest from the dining table where everyone was already seated and filling their plates with the breakfast feast Hinata had prepared.
"Oh honey, what happened to your bedding?" his mother asked as Boruto threw his sheets and blankets into the washing machine.
"He probably peed the bed!" Sarada interjected before he could answer.
His face grew red from anger and embarrassment while Himawari giggled hysterically at the suggestion. "Why, you little—!"
But Naruto cut him off before he could finish his insult. "Boruto, be nice!"
Sarada sat in the living room, curled up on the couch with a blanket and her book. The parents had gone out on a double date and Himawari was sleeping over at a friend's, so the cabin was particularly quiet that night. As the evening wore on, dark rain clouds consumed the sky, and heavy raindrops tapped rhythmically against the tall living room windows.
She didn't notice him until she felt the couch shift as Boruto plopped down on the opposite end. "You're reading?" he chuckled. "Honor students have it rough."
"Some people read for leisure, moron," she scoffed. She expected him to grow bored and walk away, but when he didn't Sarada glanced at him from the corner of her eye. "What do you want?"
"You don't own this living room. I can sit here if I want to," he grumbled, staring at the stone fireplace that painted his features with its warm glow.
When he didn't say anything more, Sarada turned her attention back to her reading. It was several moments before Boruto piped up again.
"So, uh… what's that book you're reading about?"
"You must be seriously bored if you're asking."
"Whatever," he muttered and crossed his arms over his chest.
Sarada peeked at Boruto again, watching him watch the fireplace for a moment, before she closed her book, leaving her finger to mark her page.
"If you really want to know," she sighed. "It's about this girl who's a figure skater and she can't find anyone to be her partner so she ends up asking this hockey player, but then things start getting more complicated because they have all these repressed feelings after they start having sex."
She watched as Boruto's expression morphed from simple curiosity to actual interest at her last word. "Ooh spicy," he said with an intrigued smirk. "I didn't realize you were into that kind of stuff, Sarada."
"I… uh…" She looked down, suddenly feeling too shy to meet his gaze. "I like it for the plot."
"Oh, I'm sure you do. Like how graphic are we talking?" he asked, scooting a little closer to her. "Read some of it out loud to me."
"I'm not going to read it out loud to you!" Sarada squeaked, her face suddenly feeling hot at the way his blue eyes were looking at her.
"Wow, that graphic?! You surprise me, Sarada," Boruto teased.
"Shut up," she muttered. But then a few moments later, a question was nagging at the back of her mind.
"Have you…" she hesitated."...ever had sex before?" Her ears turned pink, wondering what even compelled her to ask such an invasive question.
"Maybe I have... maybe I haven't," he shrugged with arrogant nonchalance.
"With who?!" Sarada gawked, suddenly more interested than before.
"Okay, so I haven't," Boruto muttered and averted his gaze back toward the fireplace.
She scoffed and rolled her eyes. "You're so annoying, why wouldn't you just come out and say that."
"Because! Being a virgin is so fucking lame!"
"Being a virgin isn't lame!" Sarada defended. "I'm a virgin!"
"Ugh!" he grumbled. "Of course, you are."
"What is that supposed to mean?!"
"It means you're uptight! And uptight, prissy girls like you are always prudes!" Boruto told her with a scowl.
"I'm not a prude!"
"Oh yeah, then why are you still a virgin then!?" he challenged.
Sarada frowned. "If I wasn't a virgin you'd probably be calling me a slut or something! Seriously, girls can never win in that situation! It's a stupid double standard!"
"Who cares if people call you a slut?!" Boruto questioned emphatically. "At least you know you're having more fun than all the lame-ass virgins out there!"
"Okay, who started this rumor that sex was super fun?!"
"Isn't that like common knowledge?! I mean people talk about sex like it's the greatest fucking thing ever invented."
"I know…" Sarada sighed.
"Ugh, I hate being a virgin because I hate not knowing what all the fuss is about!" he pouted, crossing his arms over his chest. "Like I need to know if it's really so great!"
"I get what you mean…" she mumbled as her fingers traced over the edges of her book. "Especially when you read about it, you just can't help but wonder if it's really so magical."
"Would you…" he began, but then immediately cut himself off with a shake of his head. "Never mind."
"Would I what?"
"Nothing, it was stupid," Boruto muttered, suddenly too embarrassed to meet her gaze.
"No, what were going to say?!" she pressed.
"I was just gonna say... would you…" Heat bloomed across his cheeks and his nervous voice grew quieter with each word. "Want to do it... with me?"
"What?!" Sarada squawked.
"That's why I said never mind!" he defended. "It was stupid! Forget I said anything!"
"Why would you even ask something like that?!"
"I don't know! I mean we were both just saying we don't want to be virgins and well... we have the equipment to solve that problem if you really wanted to."
Sarada stared down at her fingers nervously tracing over her book. "... you would really want to do it with me?"
"Sure, why not?" Boruto shrugged. "You're not ugly."
"Gee, thanks…" she scoffed.
"God, Sarada! What you want me to say!?"
"Maybe a real compliment! You should be nice if you're trying to have sex with me!"
Blue eyes widened. "...wait, what? Like you're really considering it?!"
"I-I don't know," Sarada blushed. "I mean... maybe? I just think you made an interesting point. Like if we just got our first time out of the way then we wouldn't have to wonder why everyone acts like it's so great."
"Exactly!" he exclaimed. "We could do it just this one time, and then we'd know!"
"So…" Sarada bit her lip. "When should we do it?"
Boruto glanced around the empty cabin. "Um, how about right now?"
"Wait, like right now, right now?!"
"Yeah, I mean we have the whole place to ourselves. When are we going to find a better time?"
"I smell like the woods right now!" she whined.
"So do I!" Boruto countered.
"I feel like I should take a shower first."
"If you take a shower, then I have to take a shower too or else it would be weird!" he complained.
"Okay, then we'll both go take showers and meet back up in your room."
"Or... we could take a shower together?" he said with a suggestive wiggle of his brow.
"No! I need to shave my body! I want to be smooth and soft for my first time!" Sarada suddenly jumped up from the couch and Boruto watched as she marched away toward her room. "Oh my god, I need to put some lotion on!"
Wait... so were they really about to have sex?
Cool!
Boruto hopped up and ran toward his own room turning on a hot shower and lathering himself up, the irony not lost on him that he had a pine-scented body wash.
After toweling off, he slipped on a pair of athletic boxer briefs and nothing else. Why bother, right? They were about to get naked anyway.
Blue eyes glanced around his room. Shit! He should probably clean up! Boruto began frantically picking up all the clothes off the floor and throwing away any random trash.
Should he make the bed? We're you supposed to have sex on top of the bed or under the covers? Or did it matter?
He was startled by a knock at the door. "Come in."
