Book Lover

Chapter: Two

Kagome didn't know how long she just sat on her bed. Too afraid to turn off any lights, or close her eyes, but the alcohol started to win over. Her head felt heavy, and eyes pulled downward. As soon as her eyes closed her head jerked up to keep herself alert, but as she opened her eyes her heart skipped a beat at what she saw. There, and the bottom of her bed was those dog ears... "Who are you..."

The ears twitched adorably as a head appeared, then those eyes... Oh those golden eyes she had never seen on any other living man before. Licking her lips she sat up. "Please, why are you here?" Her heart started to race and she wasn't sure if it were fear or excitement to see him again. "How did you get in here?" His body slowly crawled up the bed, his head tilted to one side as he kept his focus on her. Like a predator locking down onto its prey.

"Can't you speak?" Her voice sounded less and less authoritative as he got closer. Her body instinctively pulled itself against the cold steel bars of the headboard. "What's your name?" She shook her head with frustration when he didn't respond to her. Only that grin that caused her to close her thighs together tightly as a flame lit inside of her. Shaking her head she held out her hand as if to stop him.

The white haired man looked over her hand before reaching for it causing her gasp. He traced his nails up her palm stopping at the tips of her fingers. Leaning in he extended his tongue to draw up her middle finger with the wet digit. Kagome sucked in a breath, and she tried to tell herself to pull her hand back! Smack him! Kick him out... But what if this was a dream? What if he was all her imagination...

Her eyes met those that were staring into her own as he licked each slender finger in a slow steady motion. "Are you real?" Kagome all but just about panted out, and he only gave her a toothy grin. He raised a brow as if testing her to come find out. Pulling herself up to her knees she reached out to touch his chest, and it met the hot toned flesh. "Oh, my..." He sat there completely naked with his hands to his sides and watched her as she touched him. "You feel so very real..." Licking her lips she leaned close until she was just inches from his face. "If this is my dream, I can do whatever I want. Right?" Her eyes met his. 'I've been so alone...' Kagome thought as the another thought crossed her mind. Swallowing hard before she could stop herself she pressed her mouth to his, and for a moment she could taste him, smell him, and in the next she was under her blankets tangled up, sweating, and a very unfamiliar pulsing between her legs.

Looking up to the ceiling, the lights were all off. The sun rising from behind the curtains. It was morning. Sitting up Kagome looked around and all seemed normal. "A dream. All of it..." Laughing it off she shook her head. "A dream." Falling back onto her bed to try and pull herself together. After the moment was over she pulled herself from the bed and began the morning routine, but first a cold shower.

After she was cooled down and relatively stable she remembered all the drinking she had done the night before, thank goodness the after morning affected didn't come this time around. No hangover. "Sunday." Kagome smiled to herself and she worked on a light breakfast with tea. It was going to be a good Sunday. Sundays were her day. Nothing but books, and maybe a glass of wine to end the day. Sundays were good. Finding her little stowaway book hiding nicely in her bedside drawer, but it was open. "That's odd." Knowing she closed it she shrugged. "Maybe I opened you last night?"

Taking the book along with her breakfast to 'the chair' she sat down carefully placing her toast and tea to the side, pulling on the cotton gloves and fixing her glasses on her face. She started right away. "Ah, here we are... To summon a lover... Name?" Mumbling a few loose translations of words. "Speak the name." Talking to herself was how she worked best, thus she couldn't have a roommate. Back in collage days Sango would start to throw her beloved books around. Shivering at the mere thought she focused once more.

"Now, that symbol is for fertility? Next. Deity? Spirit? Malevolent spirit, goddess...It's masculine. No, god?" Pulling in her bottom lip she chewed on it as she thought it out. Pulling her notepad over she started a list of possible names, and or definitions of what the book believed it to be summoning. "Were you worshiped?" The end of her eraser ended up the next thing to be nibbled on. "Dog? InuYahska? No, I think the K fell off from the Hindu translation." Scratching off the K she looked over the name. "A dog demon or god?"

The words gave her a chill as the man from her dreams flashed before her eyes. "Dog?" Those ears on top of his head definitely looked like dog ears... When had she ever started dreaming of fertility dog gods up until now? Kagome's pulse raced as she added fact after fact, but still. It was far fetched, and something her imagination forged because of her loneliness and need for another person's touch. Blowing her bangs from her forehead she sat back and giggled at herself. "I'm even more pathetic in my own mind...

Grabbing her tea she pulled it to her lips to take a sip when that voice danced around her. It felt familiar like a close friend... A sexy friend, but someone close to her. Like she knew the voice by heart, and clung to it. Sucking in a breath she looked around half expecting to see the naked dog deity in her loft once more like a statue that belonged to her, and he was for her only to stare at with appreciation. "Stop it, Kagome."

"Kagome..." The voice whispered as if it were learning her name to heart. "My name, Kagome... Say it."

Looking around she practically gave herself whiplash at how fast she moved her head from side to side. "What?" Breathing out the word, but she somehow knew what she needed to do. Knew what she needed to say. "Say your name?" Looking down at her notes she paused before she let it slip from her tongue. "InuYasha."

"Again." The voice sounded closer this time, stronger.

"InuYasha." Kagome said it with a little more umph.

"Once more, for me." It purred and felt like it was right in her ear.

Kagome closed her eyes feeling a vibration roll through her core as the voice washed over her like a blanket. "InuYasha." This time almost a moan, but then everything stopped. The buzzing in her ear, the vibrations of her body, and even the noise around her... Calmed. Like an eerie white noise took over the room. Slowly she opened her eyes, but nothing... Nothing changed.

Slowly her eyes searched the room for any change at all, but it was all... very normal. Boringly so. Sighing, she let out a noise of disappointment. "Like a book would actually summon a Lover, Kagome. You really have lost your mind." Pulling out her cell phone from her Pajama shorts pocket she downloaded the dating app Sango kept recommending. "It's time you get out there." Hitting download and placing the phone down on the chair so she could finish her breakfast.

Poking around the book some more she was making more and more headway with the language and how it was coded. "Every three words are in Yi, the second is old chinese, then the first is Japanese? This makes no sense whatsoever." Rubbing her forehead she went ahead and tried to translate, but doing three different languages at once was no easy feat, and soon she felt a pounding headache pulsing at the back of her head.

Placing her pencil down, she looked over what she had been writing and frowned. The words described the exact scene of her first dream... 'He came to me at night, and touched me that it felt so real I think I would feel it for the next year. His gaze so deep that it burned, and only smiled while he did it. Why does he not speak?' Reading over her own text it must be some kind of mistake. Lack of sleep, maybe she started to journal instead of translate?

Shaking her head she stood up and closed the book. Pulling off her gloves she tossed them to the cushions and turned from the mess around her. Walking into the kitchen area she poured herself a glass of water and downed it. The wheels of her mind still going as she tried to put together some kind of explanation. Any explanation. "You've lost your mind. That's all there is to it." Nodding she never took her eyes off that book. "Yup." Looking to the stove she forced her eyes to stop looking at the book. Her mind to stop thinking about that damned book. Easier said than done.

Groaning at the time she tapped her fingers on the counter top. It had already been five hours since she started, and all she managed to get was probably one incorrect paragraph. Kagome's stomach growled in protest of a break, and her head pounded in agreement. Just then her cat decided to appear and rub against her. Looking down she sighed. "Fiiinnnnee. I'll go get food. Chinese?" She asked and Buyo mewed with approval. "I wouldn't dream of forgetting your tuna roll." He mewed once more. "Oh, now you're pushing it buddy." Leaning over she patted his head and told him she would go get some food and return shortly. Dressing only to look presentable in public, but did sweat pants and an oversized sweater really say presentable? Probably not.

Walking into the small family owned shop she waved to the owner. "Hey Hojo!"

"Oh! Hello, Kagome! The usual?"

"Yeah, and some extra crab rangoon filling on the side. "

"Ah, Buyo's birthday?"

"Nope, just a spoiled kitty." She laughed when he did, and he nodded before disappearing into the back to start the order. As she waited she scrolled on her phone. "Oh." Opening the app she downloaded she started entering in her information. Making a profile and cringing when it asked for a profile picture. "Skip, skip, skip." Smiling down at the phone once it finally let her start swiping. Reading the instructions quickly it did start presenting plenty of eligible bachelors in the area, but what striked her as a surprise is when she found Hojo's profile. Just as she was about to click on the profile, he appeared with her order. Hiding her phone quickly, she pulled out some cash, but he only shook his head. "Please, this night is on me. You two enjoy it." He smiled warmly at her, but it did nothing for her. Not like a certain made up, golden eyed, sex god's grin did for her...

"Thanks Hojo, I owe you."

"Well, maybe dinner some night I'm not working, and the museum closes at six every night, right?"

Kagome was a little taken back by his request and statement, but she nodded dumbly. "Yeah, but I sometimes work late... But yeah. Some night." Grabbing the food she quickly said her goodbyes and snuck out with her head down. 'What in the world?!' Kagome thought to herself as she walked herself home. Living so close to your favorite Chinese restaurant was dangerous, but would she soon have to find another? Could she show her face inside that place ever again? Groaning she walked up to her apartment, unlocked the door and let herself in.

Her mind still going, she tried to find a remedy to her current problem. "Honey, I'm home" Looking for Buyo to welcome her, but all she found was her naked man...
