What if Uzushiogakure had made more plans in case of an attack? What if they had been ready for it and made sure that a part of the clan would survive? What if a fourth of the clan had been on mission outside the village at the time of the attack? What if the clan had a way of saving not only the knowledge of clan, but also most of their artifacts and knowledge?

It happened all at once all over the continent, the citizen of Uzushiogakure had stopped moving. The first ones to notice were the citizens of Konoha, when a Kurokami merchant suddenly stopped haggling with a kunoichi off duty. She tried to wake him up, but failed to even touch him as a small barrier appeared to cover him. She looked around and noticed that the two Uzu shinobi that were with him had also been stopped mid movement. All around the land of fire, similar sight would be noted. In the land of wind, a small group of Kanitsumo shinobi stopped in the middle of the desert as a Sunagakure patrol was following them. In Iwa, a caravan of merchant stopped as they were passing through the gate of the hidden village. In Kumo, three Uzu spies meeting in a tavern had been frozen mid drink. Again and again, all over the continent, Uzu citizen, civilian and shinobi alike, went still.

It was most notable in Uzushiogakure itself, where everyone stopped all activity when they felt the telltale of the Fuinjutsu known as the voice of the sea. The Umi no Koe Jutsu was a rarely used jutsu. It had been created so ever citizen of Uzushio could be contacted at a moment notice. Every citizen had a series of seals inked into their skin, the most important one was the Umi no koe seal, the one Takashi had just activated. All over the continent, the citizens of Uzushio had frozen in place, protected by a stasis barrier specially conceived so they would be protected while the message was transmitted. All of them were seeing the Uzukage like if he was standing before them and heard him like he was specifically talking to each and everyone of them.

"Children of the Eddies! I am speaking through the voice of the sea to make the most tragic of announcement. Our mother, Uzushio, is under attack. Three of the great five and two of the smallest of hidden have joined forces to attack us during the darkest of night, when we were at our most vulnerable. Kumo, Iwa and Kiri accompanied by Kusa and Ame have launched the most devious of attack on our Homeland. Aided by the filthiest of traitors, they have come to our home, during the darkest time of night, to exterminate every last one of the Children. Our escape routes are compromised, our hidden safe zones destroyed, our great sealed barriers under-powered. Our defences will not last more than five days. We have no other choice but to activate the contingency plan created at the dawn of Konoha. We are activating the Great Exodus operation. For those inside the village, seal your houses, take everything that could be used against us, save the memories of Uzushio and pack to leave... Forever. For those who are outside of the hallowed halls of or home, do not come to us. Follow the currents of our people and go to Konoha, go to find Uzumaki Mito-sama, she will welcome you as per her duty as the Uzumaki of the leaf.

DO NOT CRY CHILDREN OF THE EDDIES! FOR WE WILL PREVAIL AND SURVIVE. UZUSHIO IS MORE THAN A FEW BUILDINGS ON A SMALL ISLAND, IT IS THE PEOPLE! SAVE YOURSELF, SAVE YOUR COUSINS AND FAMILY, SAVED THE OTHER CHILDREN AND THE VOICE OF THE SEA WILL SURVIVE IN ALL OF US!

Farewell my brothers and sisters. May the eddies of time help you through these difficult times."

The time moved again for the children of the eddies, giving them the time to take in their surrounding and regain control of themselves. The shinobi on mission practically move as one, turning their heads towards their home, towards their mother Uzushio. The civilians did the same, but where the shinobi became ice, the civilian became water as their tears fell from their eyes. The Kunoichi who first saw the merchant froze was also the first one to see him cry.

"Are... are you alright?"

"No, girl. I am not."

"What... what just... just happened? You... you froze, I was scared something was happening to you!"

"... It was the voice of the sea... I need to close my stand and go see Uzumaki Mito-sama."

"Why?"

"The voice of the sea is a jutsu used in the direst of time by Uzushio. My village is under attack and a global evacuation order has been given to all citizens of my nation..."

"Wait?! Uzushio is under attack?! I must tell the Hokage! We have to send reinforcement!"

"Its... Its to late. Our village will... it will fall. I must be prepared to welcome the survivors, I... I might... Might be the only member of my clan here and... I... I must prepare..."

The kunoichi, unsure of what to do, helped the merchant close his stand and pack up his merchandise. All around them, the news spread like wild fire. The shinobi of Konoha spread the news to their superiors, demanding to be let out, to be given the occasion to help their ally. By the time Uzumaki Mito addressed the gathered population her message was clear.

"Uzushio has five day. The village will fall. Their is nothing any of you can do to stop it. What you can do is prepare, because this heinous act has been done not only to destroy my people, but also to weaken Konoha as a whole! They mean to make us weak, but they don't understand the resolve of the Will of Fire! Our brothers and sisters hidden by the eddies are coming here for help, dozens of them will be fleeing our enemies to come seek sanctuary here and not only shinobi, but also civilians, they will come to Konoha for protection and we will give it to them! GO PREPARE FOR THIS IS WAR AND BY THE TIME UZUSHIO FALLS WE WILL BE READY TO BLEED OUR ENEMIES DRY!"

The entire shinobi forces mobilized in a matter of hours, entire battalion of shinobi leaving the village in waves. By the third day, the borders of the Land of Fire were secured, supply routes had been established, all shinobi on mission had been recalled and scouts had started studying the borders of their enemies. During all that, the stranded children of the eddies started trickling in Konoha. It started by a few shinobi, usually alone of in small teams, then came the Kanitsumo teams, the merchant caravans, the refugee families and even the single academy aged class that had been conducting survival exercises. They would continue to come on their own for the month following the beginning of the war. Later on search and rescue teams would take the lead and bring back the last surviving children of the eddies.
