Prologue: Endings are a means to a new beginning
Akira Kurusu, Souji Narukami and Minato Arisato looked over the remains of the battlefield. Their friends layed dead in front of Nyarlathotep who was being sealed a way by a man who had appeared out of no were. His name was Philemon and he now stood behind Igor frowning.
"There is nothing we can do for this timeline now. But there is something we can do to make sure this doesn't happen again." Philemon sighed turning to the three wild cards. "I can send you three back in time. But know that there will be a price to pay will you take it? Or will accept the fate that has befallen you?"
The three gathered wild cards thought for a moment while looking over their dead friends. Akira was the first of the three to speck up. "I'm going back. I… Don't see any point in staying here without them. They are my friends, no that isn't right there like a second family to me… Besides the whole reason I awakened my persona in the first place was to rebel against fate right? I'd just wouldn't be right for me to give up now."
"I'm going back too… I feel vary similarly to Akira-Kun though I have to ask one thing. Philemon you said that there would be a price for us to go back. What is it that we would have to pay?" Souji asked the grandmaster of the velvet room.
"Has you know, the velvet room cannot interfere with the world directly has such we cannot send you back with your memories fully intact you'll received visions of the past but that's all we can give you." Philemon said sadly.
"I see so that means we won't be able to remember much but the same events could still happen. How far back do you think we'll be able to go back?" Minato asked softly. He had been sealed away for years so he hoped that he could get back his lost time.
"Yes, that's correct and to answer your second question we should be able to send you back one week after Tatsuya's second fight with Nyarlathotep. Do you all still wish to go back into the past?" Philemon asked one last time. All three of them agreed looking at their fallen friends one last time.
"Well then I look forward to preparing you for the journey ahead. I now present you with the new contract." Igor said has he showed three books to the wild cards. Soon enough they were signed, and they looked over their friends one last time.
"Yukari, Junpei, Akihiko, Mitsuru, Fuuka, Koromaru, Ken, Aigus. All of you were the reason I found a meaning to life. I wish I had gotten to spend those missing years with you all. You all were the family I never had or knew I needed. I hope in the next timeline things will turn out better. Yukari… I know I said this already and you said it wasn't my fault. But I want you to know this. I'm sorry I couldn't help you raise Mizuki and Mikechi. Everyone else thank you… for being the father and aunt figures that my children needed. I hope when we meet again, we can beat Nyx without me having to become the seal. See you all soon." Minato sighed sadly looking has if he wanted to try and revive them.
Souji was next has he looked over the corpse of his deceased friends and uncle. "Uncle Ryotaro… you were like the father I didn't have growing up. With dad being arrested overseas after his trip to America and mom in the hospital thanks to his actions… I never really had a chance to understand what it was like to have someone other than your mother to look out for you. Yukiko… I wished I had confessed my feelings to you sooner. You were always someone I could talk to and you could always find a way to cheer me up. Hell, all of you could do that but even so… I'm grateful that we all met… Nanako… I'm sorry I couldn't do anything to save you. God, I failed once before… How could I have failed twice! Yet even has you were dying you still called me your big bro… I promise I won't fail next time I swear." Souji couldn't say anything anymore has he let out everything he had been feeling. Minato stood beside him in a show of comfort.
"Hey guys…" Akira smiled sadly looking over his dead friends. "You know, I never told you this but before I came here to Tokyo barely had anyone before I met you guys… It was just me and my mom. Even then it wasn't the best… Don't get me wrong they were good people it's just that I didn't any real friends… If I hadn't been sent to Tokyo, I probably would have ended up with a palace of my own… The point is… I'm glad I met all of you… You are a big reason I built up the courage to go through with that plan we made to deal with Akechi… I don't think I could have faced Shido if it weren't for you guys. I hope we can make things turn out better next time."
With that, the world faded, and time went back to before their journeys began. Back to 1999 Right after the second conflict with Nyarlathotep. Igor now stood in the velvet room with two young girls named Justine and Caroline they were the newest attendance of the velvet room made with the distant battle against Nyarlathotep in mind. They were actually named after the two wardens that Lavenza was split in two by Yaldabaoth.
While in appearance they shared the same looks, hair style and personally has their counterparts their outfits were different. Justine wore a dress similar to Margret's though the sleeves were slightly puffier. Caroline on the other hand had an outfit similar to Elizabeth's though it had sleeves that slightly drifted off the shoulders. Philemon entered and looked at the new attendance. "I take it that their ready Igor?" He questioned.
"Yes master. I made sure that every detail was set exactly has you instructed. Shall I call in my attendants?" He asked with a smile. Philemon smiled back and nodded to his servant.
"Yes… call them all immediately. We haven't a second to waist Igor. We must be prepared for when Nyarlathotep makes his move once more." He ordered. Igor smiled softly and sent out a butterfly to call his own servants and told them to come to the main part of the velvet room.
Meanwhile the attendance were in another area of the velvet room doing various things. Margaret who was the oldest of the bunch was helping Lavenza who was the youngest at the time learn about how things worked in the velvet room. Elizabeth was reading about the human world while Theodore was serving snacks to his siblings. When a blue monarch butterfly flew into the room.
"Oh? It seems that we're all being summoned by the master. I wonder what could be happening." Margaret wondered aloud. She turned to her siblings ushering them towards the main room.
"Margaret… has something like this happened before?" Lavenza asked her oldest sister the velvet siblings. Out of all the siblings Margaret was the closest to her due her due their similar personally.
"Yes, it has. But only a few times and vary far between. Mainly to introduce a new attendant but sometimes, very rarely for an emergency. But then again you were only introduced a two years ago… Normally we have to wait five years in the real world's time in order to receive a new attendant." Margaret answered to her younger sister.
They arrived at the main section of the velvet room and stood at attention. Igor smiled at them with his usual smile and looked over them to make sure they were all there before beginning. "Thank you all for your prompt attendance today. Has you can see we have two new attendance. This is Justine and Caroline they are now the youngest of the rest of you." Igor started with a smile.
"Hello, I am Justine. I hope that we can all get along…" Justine introduced herself with a smile.
"I'm Caroline! The rest of you better pull your weight if you want to stay on my good side." The younger of the two snarked.
"Caroline! Take a friendly approach to guest when you start receiving them. Not every guest will have knowledge of the room beforehand so it's important to give them a warm welcome." Igor scolded softly.
"Indeed. But that is not why we called you here…" Philemon stated in his usual calm demeanor. This caused the attendance that had just entered to gasp. It was rare for the man to visit the room despite being its overall master. This was due to his responsibility of keeping Nyalathotep in his place and finding potential persona users to gift the power to.
"Master Philemon what's brought you here?" Elizabeth asked the masked man. While preparing to bow. Philemon raised his hand with a smile to dismiss her formality.
"I'm here today due to some matters that have arisen in the world of the collective unconscious. I will explain has they are of the upmost importance." Philemon answered has he began to explain the events of the previous timeline.
"So, what you are saying is that the crawling chaos will rise once more if we do not act…" Margaret said gravely. Philemon nodded his head sadly.
"I am already preparing to take measures of my own. One of which I rely on you all of you including the twins to carry out to the letter. Igor will explain it to you himself. In the meantime, I must prepare for my next move to be made. I leave this part of my plan to you Igor. Do not fail at all cost." Philemon smiled at his servant and left.
"Of course, master. Now then there isn't a second to waist. I will be giving you all your assignments to this task. Remember to take care of them very carefully." Igor began has Theodor raised his hand in a timid fashion.
"Sir what shall we do about any gust that come here while caring out these task?" the timid attendant asked.
"You shall treat them like any other guest you receive. However, there are some upcoming exceptions to this. Which have to do with the task your about to be given I will now be telling you about a guest you will receive in the future. You are to be far more attentive to these guests then normal due to the importance they sever to this world. You will also be given a book containing all the important information regarding them. Read it carefully for it will affect how you can guide them. I will now begin. The first guest of importance is Minato Arisato he shall come along on April fourth of 2009. Elizabeth and Theodore, you two will be in charge of his contract. Make sure to guide him will the upmost care." Igor started.
"Sir normally only one of us is assigned for guest. Why are two of us being assigned this time?" Theo asked his master.
"Yes, but has I said before these guest are extremely important to the future of this world." Igor smiled at the twin brother of Elizbeth.
"Honestly Theo you should have figured that at by not now." Elizabeth snarked at her twin.
"Elizabeth! Now is not the time, Master Philemon has given us orders of the upmost importance. We must focus on that instead of Theo's short comings." Margaret scolded.
"Indeed Margaret, that is the absolute truth. We mustn't waist any more time. Now then your guest Margaret is named Souji Narukami the fourth of April of 2011. You are to make sure his compendium is at the ready at all times for he will be a guest here more than once. You will also be in charge of training the younger twins." Igor smiled before turning to Lavenza. "Has for you Lavenza you will be attending to the final of these three guest. Their name is Akira Kurusu and he will arrive on April fourth Lavenza you will also be assisting Margaret in the younger twins training. Am I understood? Has for the younger twins your first guest will be known has Nanako Dojima she will be the one to lead the charge against Nyarlathotep when the time comes."
"Yes sir!" All the attendance said before leaving to being their assignments. Meanwhile in Philemon's ethereal plane he summoned a previous group of persona users. Well, more accurately two groups with interconnecting stories. Once the groups had been summoned, he allowed them to get their bearings before explaining the situation to them.
"Hello once an again all of you. For those of you who do not remember me I am Philemon." After explaining the group what was happening, he turned to four children who were in high school or almost out of it. "It has been quite some time you four, but you'll understand soon enough."
"Philemon why did you summon us here? You told us last time if my brother and the other three with him were to regain their memories of the other side this reality would be destroyed." Katsuya Suou a police detective in his mid-20's asked the being.
"Katsuya, you know him? What is he talking about anyway?" Katsuya's brother Tatsuya asked.
"I'll explain in a moment Tatsuya. But I must say it's nice to see you again miss Amano." He smiled at the woman across from him.
"Nice to see you again to Katsuya. You too Ulala, Baofu, Kei, Eriko." The woman named Maya smiled back happily.
"Eh same here. How it's going?" Smiled Baofu. Greeting was exchanged amongst the group. Even the high schoolers were involved due to having encountered the second group on their journey.
"Now that everyone has reacquainted themselves. I shall explain why I summoned you here today." Philemon announced with a hidden smile. "You see has some of you know reality had been reset not too long ago. However, this has now happened a second time. And I fear Nyarlathotep is to blame for the necessity of the matter."
"What?! But I thought that we had defeated him? How did he come back?" Maya shouted.
"Nyarlathotep… Why do I get the feeling I heard that name before? Why does it make me so angry?" Tatsuya asked himself quietly, but another girl Lisa Sliverman heard him.
"You're not the only one who feels like this. I feel like I should remember that name to. Said Lisa with a confused look on her face.
"You have met him before in the past. You simply do not remember him. You especially Tatsuya will remember in a few moments. Philemon then held out an orb that shined showed someone who those who had not only a week ago managed to defeat Nyarlathotep. This was Tatsuya Suou of the other side.
"That's me… But how?" This side's Tatsuya asked in a confused tone. Katsuya then explained his resent involvement in the resent joker case. This just served to confuse the young man more than he already was.
"He gave his life in the previous timeline so that the three wild cards of that time could live. Those three are the ones who you must guild to victory along with their allies. His final wish was to be sent back in time in the form of his memories so he could help with this task." Philemon explained with a smile before turning the other Tatsuya back into the orb and sending into this timeline's Tatsuya. Which caused a shock to Tatsuya which resulted in him passing out.
"Tatsuya?! Tatsuya are you alright?! Come on wake up!" Katsuya called out while holding the passed-out boy.
"He shall be fine when he wakes. His mind is simply processing the information that has been given to him. I shall send you all back to reality in a moment. Before that I have two things, I need to give all of you. He then handed out a book and a key. "This book holds all the information regarding the now previous timeline. The key is to the velvet room. Use these resources wisely. I wish you all the best of luck. The fate of humanity lies on your shoulders." Philemon said before sending them back into reality. And so began the new timeline.
