Lysara's POV

"I don't like this idea of hiding" Padme complained to me and Anakin as she stormed into her room.

Last night Obi-Wan and Anakin were successful to find out it was a bounty hunter who was trying to kill Padme. Obi-Wan would try and find the bounty hunter while Anakin would accompany me and Padme to Naboo where she would be safe.

"Don't worry now that the council has ordered an investigation it won't take Master Obi-Wan long to find this bounty hunter" Anakin said hoping to reassure the senator.

"I haven't worked for a year to defeat the military creation act to not be here when it's fate is decided" Padme growled as she continued to pack.

"Sometimes we must let go of our pride and do what is requested of us" Anakin replied calmly.

"I couldn't agree more" I voiced in.

Anakin shot me a grateful look while Padme responded.

"Anakin you've grown up"

The Padawan sighed.

"Master Obi-Wan manages not to see it"

He walked over to the nearby window.

"Don't get me wrong Obi-Wan is a great mentor"

I watched in interest while Anakin used the Force to levitate an object in the air.

"He's as wise as Master Yoda, and powerful as Master Windu"

The object Anakin had levitated returned to his grasp.

"I am truly thankful to be his apprentice, in some ways and a lot of ways I'm really ahead of him, I'm ready for the trials but he feels I'm too unpredictable, he won't let me move on"

"If I were your shoes I would be frustrated as hell"

Again Anakin shown me another thankful look before resuming his rant.

"It's worse he's overly critical, he never listens and doesn't understand, it's just not fair"

"Well mentors have a way seeing more of our faults than we would like" Padme added. "It's the only way we grow"

"If it makes you feel better my parents in my eyes were also mentors and sometimes they were a pain in the ass too"

Padme chuckled at my profanity use and Anakin wore a smirk.

"You have fire in you Lysara"

"Indeed she does" Padme agreed. "That fire is what makes her special"

Now I felt my face turning red by both the Padawan and Senator. Padme then excused herself to do something leaving me alone with Anakin. My inner wolf made a wolf whistle and I threatened to put her in a mental cage if she didn't shut up.

"You look deep in thought" Anakin announced getting my attention.

"It's my inner wolf she's being a pest" I explained. "As a shifter there are a human and animal half, both halves need the other to live"

"I see I take it she likes to tease you often?"

"When she's in the mood"

"I have a question if that's alright"

I nodded my consent for him to ask me his question.

"I sense you have a unique power though it's not with the Force"

It was my turn to smirk before I opened my hand and summoned a shard of ice.

"It's called Cryokinesis" I began. "The ability to control ice"

I then turned the ice shard into a light saber.

"Now that's fascinating" Anakin stated. His eyes didn't leave the icy light saber that was in my palm.

"Not all of my kind have gifts like this" I continued. "My father could heal while my mother didn't have any gifts"

I then sent the ice light saber away.

"I wouldn't mind having the chance to use your ice powers for a day" Anakin informed. The way the Padawan was smiling made my face go even redder.

He's flirting with you my wolf pointed out the obvious.

He should be flirting with Padme not me! I scolded her.

"You shouldn't look at me like that" I told Anakin.

"Why not?"

Oh shit! Did he really just ask that?!

"We are on assignment and need to be alert" I answered before excusing myself from the room. Within my mind my other half was laughing and I was definitely flustered.

"Lysara are you alright?" Padme questioned approaching me.

"I'm not so sure" was my reply. "I'm pretty sure your extra protection was flirting with me"

Padme arched an eyebrow.

"Oh gods not you too Padme" I whined under my breath. "Besides I'm pretty sure he likes you not me"

"He's a good friend in my eyes Lysara and nothing more, perhaps it's time you had your own happiness"

This got me to snort and she patted my back in reassurance. Eventually Padme finished packing her things and we left her apartment thus beginning our journey to Naboo.

Sometime Later.

"I'll be damned Naboo is gorgeous Padme" I complimented.

We had landed a short period ago and we were on our way to meet with Queen Jamilla and her council.

"Thank you Lysara I'm glad you think so"

Anakin was holding some of Padme's belongings. Her other things along with my own were being taken care of.

"I wasn't the youngest queen ever elected" Padme explained to us as we climbed the stairs. "But now that I think back on it I'm not sure I was old enough, not sure I was ready"

"The people you served thought you did a good job" Anakin said. "I even heard they tried to amend the constitution so you could stay in office"

"I was relieved when my two terms were up and when the queen asked me to serve as senator I couldn't refuse her"

"I agree with her" Anakin continued. "I think the Republic needs you, I'm glad you chose to serve"

A bit later we were in a meeting with the queen and her council.

"If the Senate voted to create an army I'm sure it will push into a civil war" Padme explained.

"It's unthinkable there hasn't been a full-scale war since the formation of the Republic" one of Queen Jamella's council replied.

Queen Jamella turned to Padme.

"Do you see anyway through negotiations to bring the separatists back into the Republic?"

"Not if they feel threatened" Padme answered. "My guess is they'll turn to the Trade Federation or the Commerce guild for help"

I tuned out the rest of the conversation since politics were a pain in the ass. However I did remain alert in case there was another assaination attempt on Padme. Eventually then meeting came to an end and Queen Jamella chose to walk with Padme. Anakin and I walked behind her.

"In the mean time we must consider your own safety"

"What is your suggestion Master Jedi?" Anakin was asked.

"Anakin isn't a Jedi yet he still a Padawan learner and Lysara is a skilled fighter, I was thinking I would stay in the Lake Country there are some places that are very isolated"

"My lady are you sure that is where you wish to go?" Anakin asked Padme. "Lysara and I are your assigned protection"

"This is my home and it's where I wish to be" Padme responded.

Anakin nodded knowing a further argument wasn't worth it.
