This is kinda the second chapter. But actually is part of the first one(?)
FYI: I guess is pretty easy to figure out when the wolf is talking. If not, his lines are in italic.
Enjoy!
Getting to know you
Remus knew the feeling. He was nervous. And while that was expected, giving that this was his first time teaching, he was more anxious about getting to see her. Well, Moony was desperate to see her. And Remus was late. He went into the classroom and prepared himself.
"Good afternoon," he said. "Would you please put all your books back? Today's will be a practical lesson. You will need only your wands."
He saw their reactions, and even if most of them were curious, hers was happy. "Oh, look at those adorable teeth, her smile is ours."
"Oh' Right then," said Remus, trying to ignore the wolf. "If you'd follow me."
He guided them to the staffroom and, after a little encounter with Peeves, and Snape, he found his students waiting for something entertaining. And seeing Severus dressed up as Neville's grandmother certainly was. Overall was a good class, despite feeling Moony getting protective over his mate facing a boggart, though she didn't.
It was hard to admit that he couldn't see her facing the boggart, either. Admitting something like that was admitting that he, as Remus, was getting protective of her. And he did.
The desperation of being with his mate was so strong that the transformation that he had was the worst of his life. And that simple fact, admitting that girl as his mate, was both a curse and a blessing. He was calmer when she was around, and extremely furious when not, even if these were the wolf's emotions.
She was brilliant. Hermione Granger, best friend of his best friend's son. "The top of her year, isn't she beautiful?" asked Moony, looking at her as a puppy. "And she loves chocolate too!"
He knew, he saw her eat chocolate cake almost every night. And he felt terrible about it. "It is not wrong, she is ours" would say the wolf every time the guilt of having this pull towards her makes him feel miserable. But it was so wrong. He was almost twenty years her senior, he was the same age as his best friend's father! Besides, she was way younger than the legal age.
Remus breathed out as he saw her get out of the great hall. It was almost Halloween and already the hardest part of being at Hogwarts was trying to maintain himself away from her. Even in the hallways or in the main hall, she was his focus. Her laughter and beautiful hair, her…
"I am not going to do anything, not until she is of age," he said to himself. "No, I'm not doing anything at all. Way too old, and poor."
"She is our mate! She will be safer with us, and happier. Do not deny us, human."
"She deserves better," he answered, thinking how close she was with Harry. Suddenly, a fury so strong that made his knees weak, that made his insides hurt, appeared. "She is mine."
And his she was. Remus felt himself turning into some kind of stocker, watching her from afar, taking care of her. He was definitely not jealous of Weasley as he saw them go together to Hogsmeade, he was just worried about her. And Harry. Right.
Talking that day with him was good, it made him forget for a little while that his mate was out there, with Sirius getting closer. Bloody hell!
"Pack!" the wolf screamed at the back of his head. "He is out there!"
But that was not true. He was in here.
"She said to trust him," Remus said, looking himself in the mirror, after making sure everyone was safe in the great hall. "She said to believe in him, "Trust Sirius, Love, always trust him". But who was she?"
He could not remember her face or her voice, but he knew she was important. Really important. He had to make sure to follow her instructions. Do not tell Dumbledore our secrets, ever. That he promised.
And for once he was one with the wolf. The pack would not hurt his mate.
