Chapter 1: The sorting
All of the first-year students were gathered at the stairs in front of the great hall Skylar was among the first row and standing right in front of Mcgonagall she was excited to be part of the sorting this year rather than just watching
"Draco!" Elisa exclaimed upon seeing her friend. Who had instantly spotted Harry and motioned for her to follow him
"So it's true what they were saying on the train. Harry Potter has returned to Hogwarts. This is Phoenix and I'm Malfoy. Draco Malfoy" Draco says approaching Harry with Elisa in tow behind him Ron snickers at his name
"Think his names funny do you?" Elisa says
"No need to ask what yours may be, Red hair, hand me down robes and a stupid complexion. You must be a Weasley" Draco says, Elisa frowned at the way Draco spoke to the red-haired boy. "You'll soon find out that some wizarding families are better than others Potter, You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort, I can help you there," Draco said, Elisa's frown turned into a glare halfway through but it was hard to tell whether she was glaring at Draco or Ron
"I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself thanks," Harry said and turns away
"Leave him alone he's perfectly capable of telling the difference between a good wizard and a bad wizard," Skylar says glaring at Draco after walking over to Harry
"Draco, we talked about this, that is not how you make friends, do you remember anything about what I told you," Elisa says
"What I did exactly as you said," Draco said
"No, you didn't, you did the opposite of what I told you to do," Elisa says
"Hi I'm Skylaris," Skylar says to Harry not wanting to freak him out but wanting to tell him that she is his twin
"We're ready for you now," Mcgonagall says as they enter the great hall Skylar grabs her hand showing she is nervous "Skylar not in front of the other students"
"Zip Zip" Elisa giggles and she holds a vial of glitter
"Sorry Minnie," Skylar says
"It's professor Mcgonagall during the school year in front of the others," Mcgonagall says "Now when I call your name you will come forward I will place the sorting hat on your head and you will be sorted into your houses," Mcgonagall says "Hermione Granger"
"Oh no….okay….Relax" Hermione says as she walks up towards the stool
"Gryffindor," The Sorting hat says Hermione sighs in relief and goes over to the Gryffindor table
"Draco Malfoy" Mcgonagall calls
"See you soon girl," Draco says nudging past Elisa going up to the stool
"Slytherin" the sorting hat immediately says and Draco heads to the Slytherin table
"Ronald Weasley," Mcgonagall says Ron nervously walks up to the stool after taking a big gulp
"Gryffindor," the sorting hat says without having to think
"Frederick Weasley" Mcgonagall calls and Fred walks up
"Gryffindor," the sorting hat says immediately Fred gives his brother a high five as he walks to the Gryffindor table
"George Weasley" Mcgonagall calls George walks up
"Gryffindor," The sorting hat says immediately George joins his twin, and then they high five
"Neville Longbottom," Mcgonagall says Neville walks up timidly
"Gryffindor," The sorting hat says Neville gets up in shock and walks over to the Gryffindor table, and sits down in silence
"Harry Potter," Mcgonagall says Harry walks up
"Gryffindor," the sorting hat says after a few minutes of debate Harry smiles and goes to sit down next to Ron
"Gwen Jaffarenou" Mcgonagall calls and Gwen walks up to the stool but not before face planting. He gets up and acts like it didn't even happen.
"Ravenclaw," the sorting hat says everyone thinks really
"Wyx" Mcgonagall calls
"what," Wyx says
"Just go sit on the stool," Elisa tells him as Wyx walks to the stage
"Gryffindor," the sorting hat says as Wyx tosses it aside and a girl who looks similar to him catches it
"Oh Merlin, he just threw the sorting hat, I don't know who is going to freak out first Professor Mcgonagall or the hat itself," Skylar says to Elisa covering her ears and closing her eyes, Mcgonagall tries not to freak out during the ceremony and grabs the hat from the girl who caught it
"Lillith," Mcgonagall says and the girl who had caught the hat comes forward
"Ravenclaw," the hat says still looking disgruntled about being thrown after the sorting the girl flicks the hat off her sending it to fall to the floor as she vanishes in a bolt of lightning and appears at the raven claw table.
"Oh Merlin one no last name threw the sorting hat and the other flicked it off to the ground, how do they not understand that the Professor is supposed to take it off for them, Professor Mcgonagall is going to freak after this" Skylar says Mcgonagall picks up the hat and dusts it off
"Elisa Phoenix," Mcgonagall says
"About time," Elisa says skipping up to McGonagall she places the hat on her head and it takes longer than anyone else who has yet to decide what house she shall be in
"Gryffindor," the hat says finally and Mcgonagall takes the hat off of Elisa's head before it can get thrown again and Elisa skips over to the Gryffindor table as the Slytherin table erupts in an outroar of 'boos' and 'resort'
"Silence, there are no resorts" Mcgonagall snaps "Darra Anasaki" Darra timidly walks up after giving his twin sister a hug
"Gryffindor" the hat shouts out and Darra timidly walks over to the Gryffindor table and sits a little ways away from the others
"Imogen Anasaki," Mcgonagall says Imogen walks up just as timid as her brother and takes a seat on the stool
"Ravenclaw," the hat says Imogen looks up and starts to freak out she's never been separated from Darra before she runs to The Gryffindor table and gives her brother a hug and then trudges over to the Ravenclaw table and sits down a little ways away from Gwen
"Skylaris Potter," Mcgonagall says, Skylar tiptoes up and takes a seat on the stool Mcgonagall places the hat on her head
"Gryffindor," the hat says, Skylar takes it off and kisses it
"Sorry you got thrown twice my friend," Skylar says and flips to the Gryffindor table and sits next to Elisa
"Shadow Swan," Mcgonagall says and a boy with sandy blonde hair walks up to the stool, after him there were only two children left
"Gryffindor," the hat says and he shrugs and walks over to the table once Mcgonagall takes off the hat
"Alastor Smith," Mcgonagall says and the 12-year-old boy with midnight black hair and bright blue eyes and a white cat tail walks up
"Slytherin," The hat says and he walks to his table and is greeted by the other Slytherins with a sea of "look at his tail"
"Willow Smith," Mcgonagall says and A Girl almost identical to Alastor walked to that stool, the only noticeable difference was she had no tail.
"Gryffindor," the hat says and the girl goes and sits down next to Elisa and hugs her tight
"Too tight Wills," Elisa says Willow pulls away with a sheepish grin
"That concludes our Sorting ceremony," Mcgonagall says "Let the feast begin"
"Finally," Elisa says
"I wonder if that kid is ok he seems sad that he got separated from his sister," Skylar says to Elisa
"Which kid? They're three sets of siblings who were separated" Elisa says
"The boy sitting apart from the rest of us," Skylar says
"Honestly, I think both the Boy and Girl are sitting away from everyone," Elisa says
"Yeah, but did you see the way they hugged each other before she had to go sit at her table?" Skylar says just then Bill Weasley walks up
"Yeah," Elisa says
"Hello Skylar glad to finally have you as one of us, welcome to The Gryffindor family, and to you too Elisa nice to see you again bet you're going to cause chaos along with my brothers huh," Bill says smiling and placing his hand on Skylar's shoulder
"You know us, Bill," Elisa says "trouble might as well be my middle name"
"Just try not to get caught at least I don't want to lose the house cup to Slytherin," Bill says
"I won't make a promise I can not keep," Elisa says
"Keep it low key at least for your first year I don't want to have to be that head boy who scolds you all the time," Bill says
"Does bringing a dragon to school count as low-key?" Elisa questions with fake innocence
"Elisa please no," Bill says "that will make us go into negative points I don't think I can handle it"
"That sounds…" Fred says
"Like a fun little challenge Bill," George finishes for him
"Fred George I swear I will send a letter to mum and she will yank you out of Hogwarts so fast," Bill says " And Elisa I swear don't you dare bring a dragon, or I will tell professor Snape"
"Don't worry you two there are tons of other things we can do. Let's see how fast we can get detention" Elisa tells Fred and George
"Bill quick question are people from other houses allowed in the common rooms?" Skylar says
"Unfortunately not sweetheart but there are plenty of places for you to hang out with people from other houses so you can hang out with them especially by the lake or in the courtyard," Bill says
"Hey What do you think would happen if I waxed the floor with grease" Elisa whispered to Fred and George
"Elisa I swear to Merlin don't you dare," Bill says overhearing what she had said
"Do what?" Elisa says innocently
"You know bloody well what don't act all innocent young lady," Bill says "oh and don't get any ideas about doing anything stupid with Malfoy"
"Draco is my friend," Elisa says
"I know kid but don't let him lead you into getting into trouble," Bill says
"He would never do that" Elisa says
"Yes he would he did it to one of my friends and they got banned from a store," Bill says
"How about I rephrase that, he doesn't do the leading" Elisa says "I don't let him"
"Well then don't lead him into doing anything stupid and get into trouble that way either" Bill says as a boy walks up to them
"Hi I am Shadow and I am kinda lost," Shadow says "can you point me to the Gryffindor room," he asks
"How are you lost we are in the great hall?" Skylar asks
"We will be headed to the common room in a little bit after dessert," Bill says "I'm Bill, Bill Weasley I'm the head boy of Gryffindor house so if any trouble happens you come to me if you can't find Professor Mcgonagall ok"
"Ok I will keep that in mind," Shadow says
"And, don't mess with her, she is trouble," Willow says softly pointing at Elisa
"And you're not?" Elisa questions
"Ah looks like dessert is finally over if you will all follow me to the common room," Bill says
"I also lost my new friend Wyx. Have you seen anyone named Wyx" Shadow asks
"There" Elisa points at the demon boy who vanishes into the shadows "He Gone," Elisa says
"Great first night and already one student has vanished just what I need," Bill says " I better go tell Professor Mcgonagall"
"No Bill you'll get into trouble and so will Gryffindor maybe we can find him," Skylar says "at least wait until first period tomorrow before reporting it"
"Don't worry, he'll be back" Elisa says her eyes doing the strange thing where they changed color making her look more like her father
"How can you be so sure Elisa," Bill says
"He's special. Like me" Elisa says
"Let's just head to the common room maybe he'll catch up with us there," Skylar says
"So what do I do if I get lost on the way to classes tomorrow," Shadow asks scaredly
"Ask someone," Elisa says
"Don't worry we will lead you around the first few weeks and then you just follow the people who are in your classes" Bill says
"Ok I will try not to get lost but I get lost extremely easy," Shadow says
"Don't worry I know this place backward and forwards I'll try to help as much as I can" Skylar says "I'm Skylaris Potter"
"Oh hi," Shadow says shily
"And I'm Elisa Phoenix," Elisa says
"Alright come on we gotta get to the common room," Bill says
"Can I lead the way Bill you know I know this castle better than anyone?" Skylar says
"I guess so biscuit just take it slow so everyone can keep up," Bill says
"Ok Bill, everyone, follow me," Skylar says heading for the door "now the staircase is the most direct path to the dormitories but keep an eye on them they like to change"
"So the staircases move. Wonderful" Willow says
"Don't be a scary cat Jag" Elisa says
"Also stay off the third floor it's forbidden don't get Gryffindor into trouble" Bill chimes in
"That sounds like a challenge" Elisa whispers to Fred and George
"Elisa I am begging you no please," Skylar says as they walk up the stairs and Get to the door to the Gryffindor common room
"Password," the fat lady in the doors portrait says
"Caput Draconis," Skylar says and the door opens "Welcome to the Gryffindor common room, Girls your dormitories are upstairs and down on your left boys the same on your right, You'll find all of your belongings have already been brought up"
"Alright now I'm going to tell you what is going to happen tomorrow morning, we will all get up and get ready and be down to the great hall for breakfast by 7:00am sharp, after breakfast, I will escort you all to your first class, then after that class is over I will meet you outside the class to bring you to the next one and so on so forth for three more classes then we will all gather in the great hall for lunch after that we will go to three more classes and then gather once again in the great hall for supper and then afterward we will have 30 minutes of free time before lights out, no one is to be out of bed after lights out is called, Elisa, Frederick, George, I am looking at you, I don't want to hear about any of you wandering the halls after hours am I clear?" Bill says glaring at the three of them who are whispering and making plans for mischief, "I swear if you get caught doing anything after hours I will make your lives miserable here at Hogwarts, this is not a challenge, this is a promise, got it?"
"Bill what about me? You know Mcgonagall has had me help the teachers roam the halls to make sure students were in bed and they would send me in all of the common rooms to check on the students so I know all the passwords to get into the common rooms, do you think she will have me do that this year?" Skylar asks
"I don't know Skylar, you always were able to sleep in afterward because you didn't have classes, now you have classes and you don't have your own room as you did in years past" Bill says "Now you three are we clear on the point of you behaving yourselves especially at night?" looking over at the twins and Elisa they all head up to their respective dormitories and Skylar looks for her stuff but can't find it, but there is an empty bed, just them Mcgonagall enters the common room
"Skylar Potter where are you?" Mcgonagall calls
"Yes Professor" Skylar replies walking to the balcony that oversees the common room
"What are you doing in here your room is upstairs next to mine you know that," Mcgonagall says
"What? but Professor I am a student now I belong with the other Gryffindors here in the common room" Skylar says
"No no no, you may be a student now but I still need to keep an eye on you," Mcgonagall says
"But Professor you promised no special treatment," Skylar says
"It is not special treatment," Mcgonagall says crossing her arms
"Really because it sure doesn't seem like you are treating me like every other kid here, they all get to sleep in the dormitory with each other why can't I?" Skylar says putting her hands on her hips
"Don't you sass my Skylaris Grace- Lily Potter" Mcgonagall says
"Minnie this is my chance to finally make real friends that are close to my age and be a normal kid and my chance to meet a certain someone," Skylar says nonchalantly motioning to Harry who isn't paying attention
"Fine Skylaris I suppose you are right so I will give you one chance but if I determine that you need an extra eye kept on you you will come back to your room," Mcgonagall says and she pulls out her wand and waves it suddenly all of Skylar's stuff is on the empty bed and Mcgonagall walks out seemingly mad that she lost the argument. Lights out time come fast and they all snuggle into their beds and talk for a bit before drifting off to sleep.
