Just trying out chapter 2. I've never written Lilo and Stitch before, so don't be too harsh.
Ever since Gantu found Little Harry and quit Hampsterviel, things have been balancing between good and bad for the former captain and 625.
...
The pros of having a new kid:
1. Better than catching experiments for an evil gerbil
2. He makes Gantu happy
3. 625 will look forward to teach him how to make sandwiches
But the cons:
1. No more money after buying things for Harry like diapers, food, a crib, etc.
2. No child support since Gantu has no job
3. No mother or siblings for Little Harry
...
So that's how it had been, 625 had complained about having no money to buy sandwich ingredients, and seeing how terrible Gantu was at trying to take care of the little guy. Sure he started out fine, but uh, let's just say from his view that Gantu needed help.
Occasionally the ship smelled like poop a lot of the time, leaving 625 to run outside for air. He made up his mind that day: to reluctantly visit Lilo's family and tell them, for they were probably wondering where Gantu had disappeared to.
He felt nervous, stepping up to the door, hoping Gantu will forgive him for this, talking to their rivals. Taking a breath, he knocked.
"I'll get it!" Called a voice. It opened to reveal Lilo, who was surprised.
"625? What are you doing here?" She asked. He grinned nervously.
"Uh, hey, Lilo. Probably been wondering why me and Gantu haven't been capturing experiments, huh?"
Lilo nodded, and Stitch showed as well. "Cousin?"
"There's a reason for it. But we aren't gonna trick you, I promise. It's hard to explain, you'll have to see for yourself," 625 said, shifting his feet. Lilo and Stitch looked at one another. They could hear the sincerity in the sandwich maker's voice. Perhaps it couldn't hurt.
"Let me talk to my sister and see if she'll let me go. If I say you aren't gonna hurt us, perhaps she'll agree to it," Lilo said. "Stitch, stay here with him," she said. Stitch nodded. "Ih," he said.
Lilo found Nani in the kitchen, and explained. But she had a frown on her face.
"Are you lolo, Lilo? Why should you trust them after everything?" She shouted. Lilo folded her arms.
"He didn't sound mean, Nani, and he looks desperate. Please?" She begged, giving Bambi eyes. Nani moaned, she always couldn't resist.
"Okay, fine, but take Jumba and Pleakley with you," Nani said, and Lilo hugged her.
"You're the best, Nani!" She exclaimed, then heading out with her Uncle and 'Aunt' who were reluctant, but ended up going.
...
625 took the gang with him back to the ship, where Lilo meanwhile was wondering what caused Gantu to change.
"Okay, before we go in, just don't freak out at what you'll see," 625 warned them. Pleakley's eye widened.
"I knew it, it's a trap! Run for your lives!" He squealed, but Jumba grabbed him by his arm.
"Hold it, noodle head, Jumba wants to know what is 625's purpose for bringing us here," the scientist said. 625 smiled at his creator before he opened the ship doors.
"G, we have visitors!" He called, guiding them in.
Gantu came out, looking rather sleep deprived. "625? Why are they here? I don't want anyone involved in this!" He snapped. Stitch growled but Lilo took his arm gently.
"625 just wanted to help you, Gantu. He's your Ohana, right?" She asked. The shorcan rubbed the back of his neck, groaning. He now admitted he was having trouble. Taking care of a human child was much tougher than he thought.
Gantu then reluctantly sighed, nodding. "Okay, come in, I'll explain," he grumbled. The gang followed him in.
Everybody gasped at the inside of the ship, for it had changed: it now housed things that a kid or a baby would normally used. Had Gantu gone nuts?
"Gantu, what is all this?" Exclaimed Jumba curiously, picking up a rattle. Gantu blushed.
"So, here's the story: I quit Hampsterviel," he revealed. Stitch tilted his head.
"Gantu no catch cousins anymore?"
Gantu nodded. "Yeah, guess you can say I turned a new leaf, because of er, this," he said, going into Little Harry's room and bringing his child out.
He opened his hands, showing the small boy who cooed at the sight of their visitors. Pleakley gasped, hands over his mouth. Jumba was speechless, and Lilo smiled.
"A baby, Gantu?" She giggled. Gantu looked down embarrassedly but smiled. "Uh huh. Found him abandoned. Don't know who left him but I couldn't leave him there."
Stitch approached Little Harry, sniffing him, then smiling toothedly. "Gantu do good, save baby," he said in his broken speech.
"Guess I did do something good for once," he mumbled. 625 looked sheepish. "I hope you're not mad I brought help?" He asked. But Gantu shook his head. "No, I'm not anymore, it's alright now."
But Jumba then spoke.
"Gantu, you have no child support, how can you take care of little child?" He asked.
"Still working on that," Gantu said in sadness, his jobless situation still in his brain. Lilo felt pity.
"We can help, right Stitch?" She asked, seeing Stitch playing with Harry. Stitch nodded enthusiastically. "Ih!" He said happily.
"I'm sure if Nani knows he's an orphan she can figure out who left him and why, and maybe provide you with stuff you need," Lilo suggested. Gantu hesitated, but nodded. He wanted what was best for Little Harry, even if it meant giving him back to his real family.
Gantu took Little Harry with him to Lilo's house. Nani was startled at the appearance of an orphaned child, but ended calling Cobra Bubbles and asked him to track down the child's abandoners.
Gantu felt nervous as they waited with a cellphone outside since he couldn't come in, holding Little Harry close. His heart felt torn if he had to give him up.
Jumba earlier had noticed his scar, thinking how curious it was and how it could be in the shape of lightning.
Then Nani came out, her face rather interesting looking.
"Um, Cobra found the child's former caretakers and has them on the phone," she said. Gantu growled, taking the cell, wishing to tell them off like Hampsterviel.
"Is this my son's abusers?" He snapped into the phone. The voice that answered sounded like a pretty mean human man.
"I happen to be Vernon Dursley, and that would be my no good sister in law's son. Their family had been a waste, and we tried disciplining him for years, but he wouldn't listen. So that's why we left him, he is of no use to us."
Uncontrollable anger flooded Gantu. "He is your Nephew, and you just leave him in a place where he could get hurt?! You're sick!" He roared.
Vernon spluttered over the phone. "I don't know who the heck you are, pal, but no one should be defending that freak nephew of mine!" He hissed.
Stitch heard, eyes flashing. "Meega Nala Kweesta!" He snarled, angry at them for insulting his new friend, and Lilo grabbed him before he ate the cellphone, Gantu holding it out of reach. "It's tempting, but hands off, Trog!" He snapped.
"Don't, Stitch!" She exclaimed. Stitch growled again but retained himself. Gantu turned back to the phone.
"Now you listen, it is child endangerment what you did. I myself don't know much about children, but I know leaving your child in the woods is wrong, no matter what you say about him."
"It is what freaks like him deserve!" Vernon screamed back, and Little Harry began to cry, holding onto Gantu. Lilo looked offended at that second insult, too, reminding her of Myrtle. This was the last straw.
"Just shut up!" Gantu bellowed. "My Harry is not a freak, you are! You made him cry! I'm keeping him away from you, so you can never hurt or abandon him ever, ever again!" He hissed, turning off the cell, and throwing it, Jumba catching it before it broke. Nani was stunned at the way Gantu defended Harry, it really now showed her how much he changed. Her heart felt warm from it.
"I-I'll call back Cobra, excuse me," she said, taking the cell and going back inside, seeing how angry Gantu was now.
Gantu held Little Harry gently. "It's okay, it's okay," he said softly. Harry sniffled, clinging onto Gantu's fingers. Pleakley looked ready to cry himself. 625 wiped his nose, sniffling at the tender moment. The second best telling off after Hampsterviel.
"So...does that make Harry and you two part of our family, if you want?" Lilo asked, giving a small smile. She was also proud of Gantu for standing up for Harry. Gantu had a surprised look, but knew this was the only way for him to have help in taking care of Harry.
"Sure. Harry needs more family who cares for him besides me and 625," he said in a soft tone.
Lilo was happy now. "Welcome to our Ohana!" She exclaimed, but then looked at 625. "But you need a name. We can't keep calling you numbers all the time." 625 grinned at the idea of having a name.
She thought for a while. Then it hit her. "I say you look like a Reuben," she then decided.
"Huh, the classic corn beef and sauerkraut on rye. I like that!" He said, accepting his new name, Reuben.
"Listen, I'm sorry about everything I did, everybody. But I wish not to hurt anybody anymore," Gantu said apologetically, realizing he hadn't apologized. But Lilo took his arm, smiling.
"We forgive you, Gantu."
After that, they all celebrated their new Ohana members with a nice party, while discussing plans for Harry's future in the family, Gantu grinning from ear to ear, holding his Little Harry close, who slept peacefully in his arms.
Really wanted a Gantu telling off Vernon scene in this chapter, and I hope people liked Lilo naming Reuben almost like in Leroy and Stitch.
