(Kara, now in her twenties, was enjoying dinner with Donnie overlooking the city when he began to pour his heart out from the time they've been in a relationship and soon he went down to one knee. When he held out and opened the jewelry box revealing a single diamond ring; Kara couldn't contain it. Before he could even open his mouth she had tackled him to the ground declaring a loud, "Yes!" and bringing her mouth to his in a passionate kiss. They sat up, tangled in each other and laughing, when he gently took her hand in his and slipped the ring on her finger. She stared down at it in pure awe, rubbing her thumb over it, before reaching her hand to his cheek and stroked it. They stared into each other's eyes and shared another kiss both of them forgetting about their dinner.)

"Kara, 6:15, 15 more minutes or you'll be late." Called out a man's voice from outside her room.

"You can't make me." Groaned Kara into her pillow having failed her mission of going back to sleep. "School won't miss me." She turned over in bed, pulling the covers over her head to block out the lights from outside, internally cursing the city that never sleeps.

"Your principal and teachers say otherwise." The voice said now above her. "Now get up and get dressed. Breakfast is almost ready." Seconds later the blanket was snatched from the teenager's body making her flail her arms above her head. "My fortress of coziness!" Finally opening her eyes, squinting evilly up at her father who had the blanket draped over their shoulder with a grin on their face.
"There she is." He said while pulling the string to turn the lights on, his grin widening from hearing her hiss. "I made your favorite." He began to walk out of the room while dragging the blanket behind him but stopped at the doorway. "If I recall, you and your friends have a big day, right?" His dark blue eyes sparkled below the shadow of his cap, snickering when he saw her body freeze, almost able to see the energy build up in her body.
"I ALMOST FORGOT." Kara jumped out of bed, only to fall on to the floor but began to scurry to the bathroom to get ready.

When Kara skidded in to the kitchen wearing a white tank top, black zip-up hoodie with her father's old band logo on it, black pants, and sneakers she saw her father adding the finishing touches to their breakfast before sitting down to eat. "Hurry, before it gets cold." Cutting up his french toast stuffed with custard and strawberries drizzled with powdered sugar before taking a large bite, already getting custard and powdered sugar in his goatee fuzz. "Now, what was the exciting news again?" He asked between chews.

Stabbing her fork in her french toast piled high with whip cream, bananas, and strawberries and taking a huge bite out of it, almost taking half of it in her mouth with the rest that wasn't stabbed by the fork falling on to her plate. Through puffed cheeks she tried to speak using large hand gestures that told a story her father couldn't understand but he chewed silently, listening to her try to form words before she swallowed her food.
"Use your words, Kara." He chuckled while cutting another slice.

Drinking her milk to drown the leftover bits that didn't go down, she took a deep breath. "The school committee is having final try-outs for a band to play at the Homecoming Dance and my band is in the finale!" She wanted to scream to the world but her father quickly toned her down, pointing down the hall where her sister's room is. "Your sister is still sick." This got her to calm down but blinked when she saw her father's excited expression nonetheless, her eyes shining in glee. "Hm, I feel like this special moment deserves a special gift." He leaned his head back in wonder before bringing his hand up to his head, pulling the cap off to reveal short, spikey, black hair and placing it on top of Kara's head. "What do you know, perfect fit too." He gave her a toothy grin while Kara stared up at it in awe.
"Dad...are you serious..? B-But this is your treasure! You wore this the night you were offered a real music deal. I can't take this." She stood to her feet to take it off but blinked when he held up his hand.
"Yes, that hat has been through good and bad times, but that life is over. The minute you and your sister came into this world I decided that being a father would be my newest adventure. It's time for me to pass the baton onto you, my youngest daughter. Just make sure you take good care of it, I eventually want it passed on to my grandkids." He laughed at her disgusted expression but stood up and hugged her. "I know you'll rock the socks out of the committee. Now, get going, I still need to make your sisters breakfast..and you seriously don't want to smell this." He pulled the cap off and kissed the top of her head before placing it back on her.

"Love you, dad!" She shoved what was left of her breakfast in her mouth before grabbing her backpack and running downstairs to the lower part of the house complex that was turned into her father's music shop and went out the side door with one destination in mind; her besties' house.

Having a spare key gifted by said bestie's grandparents she unlocked the door while quietly announcing her entrance. "Dragan, you ready for school?" She walked further into the apartment, the TV playing infomercials but with no viewers.

Hearing voices in the kitchen she walked further in to see Dragan, her grandfather Hubert, and grandmother Trisha cleaning up breakfast they had just finished. "Morning, family." Kara smiled bright at the elder couple and bestie.

"Ah, good mornin' Kara. Ya just missed breakfast, sweetie." Trisha greeted warmly but with a hint of worry wondering if she's eaten. "How's your sister, by the wye? I hope ma homemade remedy is helpin'."
"No worries, ma'am, had breakfast with me dad, I mean my dad, heh." Kara hunched her shoulders with a light blush, always having a knack of unintentionally mimicking their Scottish accent. "She's doing a lot better than a couple days ago. I guess the medicine puts her to sleep cause boy does she go out like a light. Nothing can wake her up..sucks she gets like this everytime the weather changes.."

"Ye wouldn't be able tae tell wi how she carries herself, huh?" Noticing mentioning her sister had brought her spirits down a little she decided to change the subject. "Just got tae geit ma bag an I'll be set, Kara." Dragan said next to her grandma, helping her dry and put away the dishes.

Hubert was quietly sipping his coffee when he noticed a new look about her. "Somethin's different about ye dis mornin'. Ye look abit shinier." He gave a half grin when Kara seemed to beam at the compliment.
"Excellent eyesight, my good man." Kara winked while giving him fingerguns.
"Hah, not since the sixties." He laughed into his coffee at his own joke.
"My dad gave me his old cap as a goodluck charm for our try-outs today." Kara adjusted the cap on her head, her smile softening.

Dragan turned around, having her wild, red, curly hair in a ponytail with her bangs over one eye. Wearing an oversized sweater with a tanktop underneath, blue jean shorts, knee high socks and ankleboots. "It looks good on ya; almost like it was made for ya." She smiled but blinked when her grandmother wiped away some water that had splashed onto her freckled cheeks. "Sorry, lass." She said in the background of their conversation, not wanting to interrupt.
"Yeah..kinda feels like it, huh?" She lowered her head in thought but lifted her eyes feeling weight on her head seeing Dragan now in front of her with her hand on her head. "Well, come now, we shuild geit tae the others. Maybe we'll hae some time tae practice before the first bell."
"Ya said it! I-I mean...you said it.." Kara smacked her forehead before turning around and walking out the door. "Goodbye Mr. and Mrs. Macintosh!" She gave them a wave bye while giving Dragan her time to say goodbye as well.

"Ye tak care now, Kara. Come by after school for some cake." Trisha went to give Dragan a kiss on the cheek but blinked when she stared at her with horror stricken eyes. "Grandma, no..." She whispered quietly but it was too late. She closed her eyes already feeling Kara slowly coming out from around the corner.
"Cake?" Kara questioned with curiosity.
"Ok, time tae go, love ya grandma, grandpa! Dragan gave each of them a quick peck before rushing out the door, dragging a frozen Kara, who was still looking at Trisha, in front of her.

It was quiet after the door had closed behind the two girls. Trisha was blinking at the spot they were last at in clear confusion.
"That little lass has a sugar problem." Hubert took a sip of his coffee while closing his eyes but there was an obvious hint of love there to it.

-Somewhere else-

"Toast is done!" Donatello calls out as it literally pops out of the toaster, catching it on the plate in midair before sliding it down the counter to his younger brother, Michelangelo, who was on butter duty.

Only buttering one slice, Leonardo reaches over his 5'1 brother and picks up said slice, popping it in his mouth while finishing setting the table up. "Eugh, I think it might be overdone, Donnie." He said through the bite of rather crunchy toast.

"Yeah, yeah, hurry up with the plates, Leo, foods almost done." Raphael says over the sizzling of the bacon. "And don't forget my orange juice."

"On it!" Mikey smiled while raising the plate of freshly buttered toast and setting it on the table.

While Mikey poured his brother's orange juice and everyone else's drinks he heard steps coming down the stairs til a sluggish Miwa entered the kitchen still in her pajamas. "Do you guys have to be so loud when making breakfast?" Attempting to the rub the tiredness out of her eye while reaching for the carton of orange juice and drinking straight from it.

"You wouldn't be saying that if you didn't stay out late with your friend." Raph narrowed his emerald green eyes as she chugged away at the carton that CLEARLY has his name on it and says, "DO NOT TOUCH" in bold red letters.

Miwa glanced at him mid drink, smirking at him and swallowed. "Ah, nothing beats waking up with a fresh carton of orange juice." She set it down and walked away to get ready for school while Raph yelled at her about how he paid for that himself while raising the spatula, Leo having to hold him back.

"What is all this commotion?" Their father entered the kitchen with a raised brow to see his sons cooking breakfast.

"Morning, dad!" Mikey smiled bright enough to light up his baby blue eyes, his short, curly orange hair bouncing with his movements as he ran to his father and gave him a hug.

Hamato Yoshi chuckled softly, putting his arm around his son before giving his mop of hair a tussle.

"We're just making breakfast before school, dad." Leo said while grabbing the utensils from the drawer.

Raph was too busy grumbling to himself while plating the eggs and bacon. Setting the spatula down he grabbed the carton and gave it a small shake to see how much was left and when he felt the slotch of barely an inch left he squeezed the carton, a vein appearing on his forehead. "Atleast have the decency to drink it all!"

Donnie rolled his brownish red eyes at his literal steaming brother before walking around him with two coffee cups in hand and went over to their father to hand him one filled with tea the way he enjoyed it. "Hope we didn't wake you."

"Thank you, Donatello, despite your youthful energy I was already awake." He gratefully took the cup and gave it a small sniff before blowing on it gently and taking a drink. "Now, let's all sit down and tell me what activities you all have for today."

One by one, each of them sat down, Yoshi at the end of the table with Leonardo and Donatello at his right and Michelangelo and Raphael on his left.

"I have to stay after school to look over the final layout for the Homecoming dance as well as pick a band to play for it." Leo began as he calmly ate his food.

"Still can't believe you were voted School President. You were always wanting to be a leader and here you are." Raph smirked through his fork. "Almost feel sorry for those guys. Almost."

Yoshi said nothing as he ate but looked to Donatello to get a turn.

"I'm helping build the float for the homecoming parade and game so I'll be with Leo after school." Donatello sipped his coffee quietly, eating only a bite or two, his focus mainly on his hot, bean juice; already pouring his second cup.

"Very well then I best see you two return home together. Raphael?"

"I'm gonna be at the gym before heading to work so I'll be getting home late tonight." Raph piled his eggs and bacon on his toast, taking a large bite like a sandwich.

Yoshi nodded then lastly looked to Michelangelo.

"Uh, well, my friend Mondo and I are going to the skatepark to try out some new moves then hit the arcade. There's this new game out called "So You Think You Got the Moves." and I wanna be the first one to try it out." Mikey said through a full face, spraying bits and spit everywhere, one landing on Raph's cheek making him flick it off with an annoyed look.

Miwa slid down the stairwell and landed perfectly on her feet before taking her place at the table, grabbing some food.

"And what about you, Miwa? What are your plans for today?"

She took a bite out of her bacon while idly playing with her fork."Oh, you know, just hang out with my friend's today. They want to show me this new place that opened a week ago."

"May I assume you will be joining my class after school? It would not only show that the art of Ninjitsu can be taught for everyone but give the younger children a confidence boost to continue the art."

"So, I'm pretty much going to be free advertisement for your Dojo?" Miwa raised her brow a small smile on her face.

"Of course not, you are my daughter and I ask you out of respect...but yes." He tried to hide his smile behind his tea while the brothers snickered around him. "I expect you all, except Raphael, to be back as soon as your activities are completed and we will continue your training tonight."

"Yes, father." They all said as once before finishing their food, and heading to school, their father cleaning up for them.

Students were either chilling around the entrance to the high school or making their way inside. The main hallway walls were littered with lockers, posters advertising the homecoming dance, the time and date, and the voting for King and Queen along with decorations matching the school's sport's colors.

Kara and Dragan walked past groups of teenagers talking amongst each other about things that neither bothered or cared to listen in to for they both had a single objective; gathering the band members.

"Ah, there she is." Dragan pointed to a lone girl sitting at the farthest table in the cafeteria with a plastic tray on one side of her with half eaten cafeteria breakfast and the other side homework that was due that day. The girl's chestnut, past shoulder length hair bounced with her movement as she bobbed her head to the music she was listening to through her headphones. The sleeves of the girl's green hoodie were pulled up to her elbows showing off her pale skin.

Kara smiled, immediately running to their drummer and stood behind them ready to give them an early morning surprise til, "Don't even think about it." The girl didn't bother looking up while writing the next equation of her math homework but the smirk on her lightly coated lips told that she was expecting this. She lifted her head slightly while removing the headphones and tilted her head some, her steel blue eyes moving to look at them. "Morning, Kara, Dragan." Her smirk switched to a smile upon seeing two of her three friends.

"G'mornin', Jaylene." Dragan smiled in return, glancing at Kara. "Guess she's more awake than ye thought, huh?"
"Oh, I'll get you Jay, when you least expect it." Kara had a wicked smile on her face before plopping down beside her while Dragan went around on the other side to sit across from them. "I still never understood why you always wait til last minute to do your homework. You're smart enough to get it done at home." Kara laid her head on the table watching her finish her homework.
"Because, it's not on the top of my list. Besides, you said it yourself,-" She set her pencil down and began gathering her completed homework, "-I'm smart enough to." She put away her homework and slide her tray in front of her, her focus now on her half eaten microwaved pancake. "So, what are you planning?" She glanced at Kara, her cheek puffed while chewing her food.
"I was thinking we could get some early practice before the first bell rings. We just gotta find our last member."
"Ya know, we still haven't decided on a song tae play for the committee." Dragan raised her brow while holding her head in her hand, leaning against her arm.
"We will discuss that with Leafe. Finish your breakfast, Jay, while we look for her." Kara stood up, dropping her backpack on the table. "Watch our stuff too, please!" Kara was already running off in a random direction.
Jaylene watched her run off and sighed softly before turning to Dragan. "That's our leader, huh?" A small smile crossed her lips, her brows lifting giving her a 'she's hopeless' look. "You know where Leafe is, correct?"
Dragan chuckled, nodding in agreement to her expression. "Aye, o' course. I'll remind her..." She looked up noticing Kara had come out from the hallway she went into and was going the right direction. "Oh, looks like she figured it out. We'll be back." She set her stuff down as well and ran off to catch up with her.

Jaylene looked at her friend's items and rolled her eyes before going back to her cheap breakfast. "Should of stopped at Donald's instead." She muttered to herself before pulling her headphones back over her ears. She lifted her eyes noticing two tall and semi muscular teenagers wearing their football varsity jackets were heading in the direction Kara and Dragan were. Knowing what was down there she narrowed her eyes having a feeling trouble would start but closed her eyes knowing her friends could handle themselves.

Dragan had caught up to Kara, passing through the glass doors that lead out in to the garden and walked up to her blinking in surprise to see she had stopped. "Is she not he-" She stopped when she noticed Kara's tense and angry expression, her hands clenched in to fists, and followed her gaze to see the lead quarterback towering over Leafe with his arm above her head having cornered her against the wall.
Leafe's green eyes burning a hole in the spot she refused to take her eyes off of not wanting to look at him, holding a potted flower against her chest, the flower blocking the lower half of her face while the football player spoke to her. It didn't take a genius to paint a picture of the scene before them and neither of them were going to stand by and let it continue.

Kara stomped over to them, grabbing the football player's jacket sleeve and pulled hard so he was looking at her instead. "Hey, Lance, I hope we interrupted your speech." She narrowed her eyes at him as his look of surprise turned into anger, Dragan gently escorting Leafe away from them. "How many times do I have to tell you to leave her alone. She doesn't like you and wants nothing to do with you so back off." She spoke the last two words with force, her eyes never leaving his.

"Kara." Her name left a sour taste in his mouth from having being interrupted. "I'm surprised to see you here with Dragan no less." His hazelnut eyes lifted to the door behind them to see his two lackey's just now coming to the door, out of breath. He glared at them knowing he'd have to have a talk with them about them not doing the one, simple job he asked them to before his angry expression relaxed and he leaned against the wall. "All I was asking if your lovely friend would like to accompany me to the homecoming dance. Is that wrong? Or..are you jealous of the attention you're no longer getting?" He leaned down so they were face to face his lips curling in a smug smirk. "If you want it back then just admit you miss me and things can go back the way it use to be." He stood up straight while reaching his arm around her but she grabbed it instead, stopping it just inches from her shoulder.
"Leave. Now."
She watched with narrowed eyes as he clicked his tongue and calmly walked away from them. When his hand grabbed the door handle he stopped for a sec, barely pulling on it, "I will get you back, Kara, count on it." He opened the door and walked past his lackey's shouting at them that they're leaving.

"T-Thank you, Kara, that was..uncomfortable." Leafe moved her pale blonde hair behind her ear relieved to be saved by her friends but blinked noticing Kara was still standing in place with the same tension despite Lance being long gone. "K-Kara?" She set her potted flower down and reached her hand to touch her shoulder only to jump when she jerked, Kara staring at her with wide eyes. "I'm sorry.." Leafe whispered, hunching her shoulders.

Dragan noticed Kara expression and placed her hand on top of her head, the added weight seeming to snap her out of her thoughts. "Don't worry, lass, ye just need tae find the right button." She gave Leafe a grin and it only widened when she saw her smile. "Anywyes, Jaylene is waitin' for us in the cafeteria tae discuss our band meetin' for after school."

"Oh, yes, right, let me finish here real quick and I will join you immediately." Leafe turned around, picking the potted plant up and dug a fresh hole for it, picking the plant out of the pot and placing it gently inside the hole before covering it up. "Our teacher got a fresh batch of these in this morning and asked me to start planting them but I can come back after our try-out." She smiled at the two and stood up, wiping the dirt on her blue jeans, and picked up her back up. "Ok, I'm ready."

"Finally! Let's get a move on or the bell is gonna ri-"
"BRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNGG~"

Dragan and Leafe looked at each other then over to their leader as she fell to her knees quietly sobbing in defeat. Leafe covered her mouth with her hand to try and stifle her giggle. Dragan rolled her eyes at her exaggerated reaction before walking over and pulling her to her feet. "Come on, lass, I know you'll geit through this as alwyes. You'll think o' a song in no time an we'll win the committee over."

Leafe went to her other side, placing her hand on Kara's shoulder, "I have to agree with Dragan, you were always good at decisions like that."

All three of them walked arms around each other before they gathered their belongings and departed to their first class.

The day felt like a blur. Kara was no where near coming up with an idea on what song to play for the committee and it was irritating her to no end. While her teacher spoke of equations she was barely paying attention due to, secretly scrolling through her playlist on her phone, she was completely unaware of the sapphire blue eyes watching her.

It had to be a song that not only wowed the student committee but one that her whole team could play but it seemed out of reach. One hand scrolling through her phone the other tapping her pencil against her cheek she was brought to attention when she felt a light tap on the side of her head and looked down when she saw a paper wad land in her lap. With a raised brow she picked it up and unwadded it to see a note that read, "Shouldn't you be paying attention?" She glanced up at the teacher to see their back still to her and the students then turned her head to see the student president, Leonardo Hamato, wearing his blue varsity jacket that it seems he never takes off, his limestone toned hand laying against his cheek giving her the side eye with a smirk on his face.

A soft blush crossed her cheeks not only at getting caught but the president being the one to catch her. Letting out an inaudible sigh she gave him an apologetic look before turning her phone screen off and laying her eyes on the teacher. She tilted her head to Leonardo and lifted her brows as if asking him if this was better to which he responded with a nod making her smile.

Guess she'll have to ponder her thoughts when he wasn't around.

"Listen up, class, we're going to play a little game along with today's lesson which will be about Ancient Egypt." Mrs. Christine announced with a smile while drawing a scoreboard on the chalk board for two sides. "I will separate you into two teams and-"

"Can Dragan be on our team, teacher?!" One student shouted while raising their hand.

"Well, if they get Dragan then we get Donatello on ours!" Another student yelled.

"No fair, I wanted Donatello on our team!"

"You snooze, you lose, Brandon!"

Mrs Christine watched her class go into a frenzy over her two smartest students and a vein began to appear on her forehead. "I didn't even call our teams yet." She said through a calm anger that she had seemed to master.

Dragan had a drop of sweat slide down the side of her head, chuckling nervously at the students around her when her eyes fell on the 6'2, bronze brown rival that is Donatello Hamato who had taken a pencil from behind his ear brushing against his short, unkept yet still somehow stylish espresso dark hair and was writing something trying to hide his blush only to blink when he felt eyes on him. When he found Dragan to be the source she gave him a small smile and shrug with which he responded with a toothy smile of his own, showing off his gap, before narrowing his brownish red eyes, his smile changing to a smirk. She chuckled again, her smile now a grin, accepting his silent challenge.

Jaylene stared at their teacher explaining the anatomy of a turtle; their latest session being on reptiles when she heard snickering off to the side. Trailing her eyes over to it's source she watched the class clown and partner in crime poke and giggle at their textbooks before lowering her eyes to her own curious to know what was so funny but before she could further investigate the teacher's loud voice called her back to reality.

"Michelangelo! Would you like to enlighten the class as to what you find so funny?"

All attention was now on he and his short, skater friend, Mondo.

Jaylene's eye widened slightly thinking her question would be answered only for him to become bashful and lower his head with a rub. "Nothing, Mr. Kraymer."

With a nod, their teacher turned back around to continue the lesson. Jaylene huffed a soft sigh for the answer will forever be out of her reach. Still, a smile came to her lips just enjoying their light, childish giggle.

Having an off period in the middle of school hours wasn't the best for Leafe, specially when she didn't have a vehicle to leave so she would assist the office, or what her bullies called; being their gopher, but it was quiet which is what she preferred. Hall pass in one hand and student slip in the other she made her way towards the Extra Curricular Hall heading to the Auto Shop. Slowly opening the door she poked her head in to see no one, not even the teacher, were at their desks and instead the whole class was in the garage section for she could heard the teacher's lesson loud and clear even from where she stood. Taking in a deep breath she went further into the class and went behind the teacher while ignoring the stares of the classroom but when her eyes spotted Lance she immediately looked away nervously.

"You got two steps out of three right." The teacher said to his student, both of them leaning over the vehicle looking inside the hood his grey one piece jumpsuit covered in oil stains and other vehicle liquid she knew nothing about.
"Um, sir, e-excuse me.."
"Now the text book says do it like this but you'll find you'll get the same results doing it this way."
"Sir, I'm here for a student, Raphael Ham-"
The teacher suddenly jerked up, smacking the back of his head against the hood, the ends of his dreadlocks bouncing as he grabbed his head and thrashed his upper body around while trying not to curse out loud, already having been punished for that, the whole class getting a laugh out of this.

Leafe jerked in response, placing the slip in front of her mouth to cover her shock. "I-I'm sorry. Are you ok?"

After his little dance, the teacher rubbed at his sore head, wincing softly and looked down at her. "It's not the first and won't be the last. You said one of my students names, why?"

"Oh, I was sent to bring him to the principal's office. I-"
"Is he in trouble?"
"Um, sir, I don-"
"Did he get caught doing something bad?"
"S-Sir, please, I-"
"Is he getting expelled?"
"Sir, I'm just the messenger, I don't know!" She finally squeeked out while hiding behind the slip.

The teacher blinked down at her realizing just how close he was to her and sighed while standing up straight, leaning backwards abit with his attention now to his class. "Yo, Raph!"

"What?!" A loud voice from the back of the class called out til a 5'9, muscular, bronze brown male with shiny emerald green eyes, and espresso dark, short, buzzcut wearing a red shirt, layered leather jacket, jeans, and boots walks up to the two with an annoyed look on his face.

"Cut the attitude, Raph, you've been summoned to the principal's office. It's close to the end of class so take your stuff with you."

"But I didn't do anything wrong, Mr. Jason! Why should I go when I'm innocent?" Raphael Hamato crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes that moved over to the messenger who looked as though they were about to faint.

"Calm down, the sooner you go the sooner it's over with."
"But!-"
"If you did nothing wrong then it should go by that much faster. Now, go, you're disrupting my class." Mr. Jason gave his shoulder a light jab, he being the kind of teacher to be lenient and relaxed with his students; even letting them call him by his first name but wasn't afraid to remind them whose in charge.

With a huff through his nose Raph turned around to gather his things, glancing side ways when he heard Lance talking smack about him being in trouble. Giving his backpack zipper a hard pull and throwing it over his shoulder he walked out of the classroom with Leafe not too far behind him.

Donatello was doodling in his invention notebook during chemistry class where the teacher was going over their lesson through showing slideshows, he taking notes here and there on important facts though it wouldn't be hard for him to remember them. He glanced to his right hearing soft breathing and saw one of his classmates had fallen asleep during the lesson, their head facing him. It was dim enough in the class for their teacher not to notice yet bright enough to where he had no trouble with seeing what he was doing or noticing her distraught look; almost as if she was having a nightmare. Becoming worried for her not only getting caught but imagining a bad dream that would cause an expression like that he reached out his hand to gently shake her awake when her eyes snapped open, giving him a glimpse of her different colored eyes before she reacted in a way that had him yelling out with a start.

It wasn't til Kara had fallen asleep in chemistry that her mind finally gifted her with THE song to perform to get, in her eyes, the big gig.

With a jolt of her upper body she sat up straight as if the monster of Frankenstein had been awoken, shouting,"I'VE GOT IT." Not hearing a sudden, startled yell on her left.
"...But this is a slideshow.." Her clearly confused teacher told her but Kara ignored them and the staring eyes of her fellow students around her for she grabbed her backpack and high tailed it out of class trying to make a break for the library only to have her teacher catch her before she could even leave the room and escort her back to her seat.
"I don't know what's gotten in to you, Kara, but we're still in the middle of class. Don't disrupt it again."

With a pout she sat back in her seat while the teacher went back to the front of the class to resume their teachings, the class going back to normal.
On the other hand, Kara was becoming jittery in her seat. She HAD to get to the library and print out the music sheets before P.E. which all her friends shared together. She closed her eyes to give her a moment to think; the second lunch bell was going to ring in about 10 minutes she could try and sneak into the library at the start. Since it was usually dead during the lunch hours the computers shouldn't be occupied so she could get in and get out and still have time to eat.
A smile curled on her lips at her fool proof plan. "Heh, there's nothing that's keeping this from succeeding. I'm such a genius.~"

"Here you go, girls. This is the song that will get us our first gig." Kara handed each of her friends their proper music sheets, beaming with excitement in the locker room while they each looked over the song.

"But you're a girl." Leafe looked at her as if that hadn't been apparent.
"...And?" Kara asked with a raised brow.
"A guy sings this song." She continued.
"Yeah, so? I can still sing it. Watch." Kara took in a deep breath but was stopped when Jaylene placed a finger over her mouth. "I wouldn't do that if I were you. Not here, anyways."
"Why?" Kara looked at her in confusion til Dragan grabbed her head and turned her around to see the leader of her competition. She narrowed her eyes when she saw Randy Wyse inconspicuously watching them.
"Ye need tae keep watch o'er these. Ya know she's a sly one that'll try anything tae win."
"Yeah, you're right, I better keep these in my locker for safe keeping." She placed the music sheets in her locker under her backpack and changed into her gym clothes before snapping the lock shut on her locker, all of them heading out to start gym.

Mr. Jackson greeted his students with a beaming smile that got most of the girls blushing and melting into puddles while he explained the activity they were going to do after their warm ups of push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, and running a mile around the gym.

The kids partnered up for the exercises; Dragan with Kara, and Leafe with Jaylene.

"So, you seemed a little stressed when getting ready. Did something happen during lunch?" Leafe asked while spotting Jaylene for sit ups.
"Bet they didn't have any jello for dessert today." Jaylene huffed between breaths while grinning, them and Dragan giggling at the knowledge of their friend's sweet tooth.

"Hardy-har guys. No..I ended up missing lunch while getting the music sheets. I didn't realize people would want to use the computers the EXACT time I needed it." Kara groaned while doing her sits up before they switched. "When the bell rang it seemed EVERYONE was walking like an old lady. It was irritating." Kara sighed, holding Dragan's knees. "It's like the world is trying to keep me from playing for the committee."

"Only two things happened tae ya, lass, don't let that stop ya from doin' what you love."

All Kara could do was nod but there was still that itch of doubt at the back of her mind.

During the jogging hour Kara kept her head down not really paying attention to where she was going, they were going in a square so there wasn't a lot of options on where to go. The faster the doubt in her mind went her feet would copy speed til she was doing a full run.

Dragan noticed this and began to grow worried til she realized she wasn't paying attention to where she was going; heading straight for Donatello and April. "Kara, slow down! You're gonna-" Before she could finish her sentence she winced when Kara collided with the two.

"Ouch.." Kara groaned while rubbing the back of her head unaware of the soft yet lean cushion below her til a quiet stutter grabbed her attention. She looked down to be face to face with a boy who looked familiar, maybe she had a class with him? Wow, for someone with dark skin he sure was glowing. She stared into his eyes and gasped softly at how pretty they were.

"Um..c-could you please get off me?" The boy below her asked nervously feeling as though his head was going to explode from the close proximity with his classmate; who was also a girl!
She looked down at him to see she was practically straddling his lower half and leaning against his upper half. "Oh my gosh I am so sorry." Her cheeks were beginning to burn which he noticed were bringing out her eyes and causing him to stare while she picked herself up. "Here, let me help you up." She extended her hand and when they made contact both of them froze for a second, their hands feeling warm in the other, til she shook her head and hoisted him up with surprising strength. She gave his back a quick dust off and a small smile before going back to her jogging, Dragan and the others catching up with her.

"Hey, you ok?" April stepped close to him noticing his far off stare, watching her leave. "Hellooo? Earth to Donnie?" She waved her hand in front of his face and when he finally looked at her she crossed her arms with a raised brow. "Do you know her?"
"Not really, no. We just have a class together." He gave her an apologetic smile, chuckling nervously before both of them went back to finishing their jog unaware of the eyes of two certain lackeys having witnessed the whole ordeal.

It was finally time.
The bell to end the school day had finally rung and not even a second later had Kara sprung out of her seat, practically throwing her backpack across the room in an attempt to get it over her shoulder before racing out the door and towards her locker where her three friends would soon meet.

By the time they had arrived she had just closed her locker, adjusting her cap on her head and beamed at her friends in excitement. "Are you guys ready to wow the committee members with our amazing talent?" Hearing her friends equally excited answer they raced to the band hall where the music teacher had graciously let them hold their instruments.
Gathering their equipment and placing them on a platform cart they drug their things to the gym where the committee was discussing not only decorations but overlooking the handful of students that were building and decorating the homecoming float.

Upon seeing them arrive the president excused himself from his brother and walked over to them. "You guys are a little early. We're going to listen to Randy and her band first then you'll be next, that ok?"
"Yeah, no worries, my du-" A gentle yet firm tap on the head corrected her mid sentence."-yes, sir."
Leonardo raised a brow looking between Kara and her tall, curly red-haired friend, his eyes staying on her for a second too long. When Dragan noticed this she gave him a friendly smile which had him clear his throat and point. "Um you guys can set your instruments over there." He quickly turned around and left before any of them could notice the light tint to his cheeks.

While Kara and the others were setting up for their turn Donnie and April were making paper flowers for the float on the other side of the float, Randy's band already starting their song.
"Thanks for helping me with this, Donnie, I didn't think Irma would bail on me at the last second."
"Heh it's no trouble, really. I was already working on the float anyways so this is nothing." Donnie blushed while smiling wide at his friend that he secretly had a huge crush on. Though it seemed none of his advances or flirting ever worked. He wondered if she even felt the same way towards him.
Not noticing they had gone through the white paper already, his hands continued to move despite the lack of material within them til April called out his name.
"Donnie. Donnie? DONNIE." She raised her voice loud enough for him to hear which caused him to tense up like a cat, his heartbeat freezing for a second. "Yes, what is it?" He asked as if he almost didn't have a heart attack right there.
"We're out of the white construction paper for the flowers. You're not folding them anymore." She chuckled softly knowing he tends to zone out at the weirdest times.
"Oh,no worries, I'll get them. They're in the art room, right?"
"Yeah, oh and get more green as well."
"Your knight in shining armor won't let you down." He stood up with a wide smile, showing off his gap and gave her a wink before running off passing Lance and his two lackey's, who he thanked a higher deity that they ignored him, and left out of sight.

Lance spotted Kara and her friends and smirked before calmly walking over to them. He moved as if he was heading for Kara before turning heel and moving to Leafe's side. "So, before we were so rudely interrupted, you never did answer my question." He slid his hand around her waist, bringing her close to him while using his other hand to gently stroke her bangs out of her face.
She let out a quiet squeak, her face immediately glowing, her instincts having her freeze up in his arm. She really wished he would just leave her alone.
Kara and Jaylene were setting down one of the speakers when she heard a voice she didn't want to hear right now. She looked up to see Lance with his arm around an uncomfortable Leafe; Kara having a sense of deja-vu from this morning. She gritted her teeth while narrowing her eyes and walked over to them.
"Kara, don't start anything." Jaylene warned while reaching her hand out to stop her but grasped air when she wasn't quick enough. She let out a heavy sigh and glanced at Dragan both of them hoping whatever happens doesn't have them losing their chance to play.

"Lance! What have I told you about leaving her alone?" She shouted a little too loud; grabbing the attention of everyone in the gym.
"You need to stay out of other people's business, Kara. This has nothing to do with you." Lance narrowed his eyes as both of them were face to face with each other. "Why do you keep butting in?"
"Because I know what you're planning and I won't have you hurting my friend now leave her alone."
"You don't have the slightest clue what you're talking about; I'm just trying to get a date for the dance, honest! Unless.." His sly smirk returned and he leaned down close so only she could hear, "You're really wanting my attention and are too stubborn to admit it. You want me back, don't you? You. Need. Me." He reached over and took a piece of her bangs in between his fingers. "Things can go back the way they were if you just admit you were wrong and I was right. Then I'll leave your friends alone."
Kara stared at him with wide eyes; she felt so much anger that she couldn't process words at the moment. She turned around, her eyelids lowering and she began to walk off but stopped and turned her head slightly to give him a sideways glance. "I'll show you how much I need you." She was going towards the exit which confused not only him but her friends as well. It wasn't til someone had entered the gym that they saw Kara grab the person by their shirt collar and pull them down to her level, kissing them smack on the lips.

The whole gym was frozen in shock. Dragan and Jaylene were staring with wide eyes and mouth agape while Leafe had her mouth covered. No one was as mind-blown as Leonardo not because it was indecent or out of the blue but because she was kissing his little brother.

Donatello was borrowing the art classes push cart to carry the paper to the gym while thinking to himself how proud April would be of him bringing what they needed to decorate the float. He used his back to open the door and walked in slowly while pulling the cart and turned around in time to get grabbed by the shirt. He didn't have time to react for he felt a strange pressure on his lips. His eyes practically sprung out of his sockets staring down at the person who he realized was the same girl who tripped on him in gym class kissing him! He stood frozen in place while his mind tried to register what was happening, his eyes darting in every direction trying to find help but everyone watched instead. His shoulders began to relax and the second he was actually beginning to enjoy it she released him from her lips and walked back to her friends continuing what she was doing earlier.

Lance was the first to snap out of it and turned his head in Donatello's direction, glaring daggers his way. After bringing his lackey's back to earth he snapped his fingers signaling them to follow him and walked off. While walking past Donatello, Lance gritted his teeth, shoving his shoulder hard against him and causing him to stumble against the push cart, this getting a snicker from his lackey's.
"Lance, now that I remember, something happened between those two earlier today." One of his lackey's said into his ear causing his brow to raise questioningly before lowering in rage. "Tell me everything."

When Kara didn't react to anyone's reaction things slowly went back to normal.
April sped walked towards Donnie, not only to see if he was ok after that shove but the kiss as well. She had a million questions going through her brain so she blurted the first one that moved to her mouth, "What was that all about?"
His brain remembered it had a body to function and his knees immediately went weak, his upper body swaying side to side before he slouched forward, spirals in place of his eyes. "I uh...heeee..have no clue." He breathed out wondering what he did to deserve a day this stressful but his mind replayed the kiss scene which triggered the sensation on his lips and reminding him how soft they felt. He went to reach a hand to his lips but when April squinted her eyes he moved so it was on her shoulder. "L-Let's just work on the float, hehe.." He lead her back to the float only to stop and go back for the cart, glancing over at the girl who kissed him to see her moving her bass guitar strap over her shoulder.

Once Randy and her band had finished their song it was their turn. Kara took a deep breath to calm her nerves while Leonardo and the rest of the committee spoke to them Jaylene, Dragan, and Leafe gathered around Kara for their pep talk but instead of motivation-
"So, are we going to talk about the elephant in the..gym?" Jaylene asked with a raised brow.
"What do you mean?" Kara questioned.
"Oh, I don't know, something havin' tae do wi ya kissin' Donnie?" Dragan wanted to raise her voice but knew Leonardo wasn't too far away.
"So that's his name? Huh." Kara seemed surprised at this bit of news but turned her attention back to her bass guitar, sliding her fingers down the strings.
"Kara...you do realize that was Leonardo's brother, right?" Leafe whispered nervously only to cringe when Kara tensed up, her fingers scratching against the strings and her eyes widening. "WhathaveIdone.." She whispered in horror. "I didn't know! They don't even lo-"
Dragan immediately covered her mouth and sighed heavily. "Lower your voice, lass. Thay're adoptive brothers."
"How do you know of Donnie?" Jaylene asked Dragan.
"I hae History wi him. We geit pitted against each other due tae us being the smartest in the class. He's a nice guy." Dragan smiled making Kara blink in surprise; for some reason that sentence alone sticking to her. She shook her head and looked over at Leonardo when he gave them the thumbs up to start only to blush and look away from Kara when their eyes met. She turned around, smacking her forehead wishing she was dead.
"Don't worry, Kara, Leonardo is a fair person, he's going to judge us on our talent alone. I can feel it. We got this." Leafe smiled brightly making Kara look at her then over to her friends who were nodding in agreement. Seeing the determination in her friend's eyes had Kara grinning and turning back around. "You guys are right. Whose ready to wow some pants off?" Her grin widened when that got a chuckle from her friends as they all took their places; Dragan the electric guitar, Jaylene the drummer, Leafe the keyboardist, and Kara the bass and lead singer.

Kara tilted her head towards Leafe who nodded with a smile, her fingers dancing on the piano keys starting the song then pressing a button to add extra sound. Kara took a deep breath, opening her mouth to sing.

"I was just an only child of the universe and then I found you, and then I found you.
You are the sun and I am just the planets spinning around you, spinning around you."

Kara, Dragan, and Jaylene joined in the song with their instruments, the song beginning to pick up.

"You were too good to be true; Gold plated.
But what's inside you, but what's inside you.
I know this whole damn city thinks it needs you but not as much as I do, as much as I do. Yeah.
Cause you're the last of a dying breed, write our names in the wet concrete.
I wonder if your therapist knows everything about me.
I'm here in search of your glory, there's been a million before me.
That ultra-kind of love you never walk away from
You're just the last of the real ones."

Donnie had gone inside the float, which was just a driving golf cart underneath all the decorations to work on what he was assigned to do when he heard the music start. Recognizing the song as one of his favorites he popped his head out the window only to stare in shock when the girl who kissed him was singing the song. His mouth opened slightly in awe while listening amazed to hear a voice that beautiful coming from someone with a somewhat rough exterior. He idly rubbed the back of his head remembering the pain of being crashed into while his eyes focused on her face, the emotion carried with every lyric, the focus, determination, and passion in her eyes. His cheeks began to blush watching her work as if she were singing to an actual crowd instead of a few onlookers in the gym. He glanced over to April to see even she had stopped what she was doing watching them perform.

Dragan's fingers glided against the string of her instrument, nodding her head to the beat while singing the added background to certain lyrics of the song. Her eyes happened to trail over to the group that would judge their performance and landed on Leonardo who had a surprised expression on his face. When their eyes met she gave him a soft smile before it turned into a grin when Kara began to sing the chorus.
Like his brother not far from him, his mouth was slightly open as he took in their performance from how they played to their singing. He turned his head slightly to see even his partners were moving to their song with a nod of the head or a tap of the foot. A crooked smile came to his mouth, going back to watching them, and hearing Dragan singing behind Kara who had a talented voice, no doubt about that, but he wished to hear her alone, to sing for him.

Jaylene never stopped moving, from her hands clenching the tools that were used to create the sound from the drums to her feet stomping the petal to make more sound til there was that split second break in the song before she was back at it again, her head banging to the rhythm of her drums and the song. Sweat was gathering on her forehead as her body moved with precision to the song, never missing a note; as if she was using the song to let out some pent up emotion that she never could release til now. She had energy and she was using it all for this very moment. When the long break came she placed her hands to her side but her foot continued to step on the petal to hit the bass drum.

Leafe's eyes were on her keyboard. She could feel everyone's energy being put into this one song and she wasn't going to let their talent, time, or emotions go to waste. With focused eyes and nimble fingers she conquered her solo til Jaylene and the others picked back up.

"I'm here at the beginning of the end
Oh, the end of infinity with you.
I'm here at the beginning of the end
Oh, the end of of infinity with you."

Kara's eyes traveled her surroundings despite seeing the in awe group she didn't let that get to her, didn't let it stop her from singing her heart out, wanting them all to know not only what she was capable; but what her friends could do as well. Her eyes stopped on the one Dragan called Donnie and she lifted her brows as if to say sorry but when she saw his expression, their eyes meeting, she instead sang to him.

"I'm done with having dreams.
The thing that I believe.
"Oh, you drain all the fear from me.
I'm done with having dreams.
The thing that I believe.
You drain the fear from me."

She banged her head along to the music while singing the last chorus, getting into the song, herself becoming somewhat sweaty from putting today's energy into her performance.

After the song was over everyone stood still trying to catch their breath, Kara with her head lowered and her cap covering her eyes with shadow. Despite the song just ending it was too quiet for her; she needed to say something but what? Her eyes darted under the shadow of her cap flap trying to think of something but when nothing came she took a loud gulp of air before pulling the mic close to her mouth and lifted her head. "Thank you." She gave them her high spirited grin while letting go of the mic and went to walk off the stage when the people began to cheer.
Her cheeks began to feel warm at their cheering and grin only widened in pure joy, looking back at her friend's to see the same reaction.

Once the committee got everyone to quiet down Leonardo cleared his throat. "Now that we've heard both bands we'll discuss who will be picked to play at the homecoming dance at our next meeting. Thank you, everyone who played, you are dismissed."
It was quiet in the gym once more when a lone, "Boo!" came out of nowhere making Kara laugh and the others snicker. With a sigh she turned to her friends and nodded her head. "Come on, guys, let's go home." She removed her guitar from around her torso and started putting everything away along with her friends completely unaware of Donnie watching her shyly, trying to gain the courage to go up to her and talk, and Lance with his two lackey's by the exit who all turned and left.
