Walking north, I could see how badly the state of this place was. Buildings lay toppled on the ground, some had large gaps as if something had pierced through them. Ahead of me was one such building. I had to decide if I wanted to explore or continue on forward. The choice was forced upon me as I heard heavy thuds. Quickly rushing inside, I hid myself by the entrance, peering outside through my right eye.
What I saw terrified me. It was an incredibly large creature, much larger than the others. A large number of the albino creatures I fought were running south alongside the creature. There was no way I could fight so many. I had to stay here for over a half hour as more of the creatures ran past my hiding spot. They passed far too quickly for me to count them.
Once they were gone, I waited to see if any stragglers were coming by. Luckily, there were no more. The moon itself had begun to rise, and before I could let out a sigh in relief, a distant bang was heard. The bangs continued, and must be coming from the south. Heading south was a bad idea as I had no clue if the people there were dead already. Even if they managed to be able to fight against those things, I would not be able to aid them in any way.
A different feeling came to mind. I wanted to aid them and yet something was telling me that whomever was fighting there deserved it. I didn't like this feeling, but it lingered there. I had to think smartly. Even if I went that way the monsters could kill me before I would ever be of help and the fighting must be intense. I was of no use to anybody so I had to leave this place as soon as possible and continue north.
There was one issue though, I was tired and the sun had already set. I was more likely to die if I was too tired to hear anything approaching, so I decided to rest beneath the staircase. It was in a terrible state, but it was better than nothing. Closing my eyes, I drifted off to a light sleep.
…..
Once I awoke, I went to see if the sun had risen. The sun was just starting to rise, and no monsters were nearby. With the place safe, and feeling wide awake, I resumed heading north. With the constant danger, there was no way that I would stay here. If just one of those things found me, I was already as good as dead. When one shows up, then there are bound to be more. Not to mention the giant one looked really dangerous. I could barely make out its features as the other ones were obscuring my view.
While walking I started to wonder. The monsters seemed to have a pack mentality. They all followed what looked to be the strongest in the group, so what if I fought the strongest enemy? Would they obey me or attack me instead? I had no real clue as to how these monsters worked and as I tried to think more on where they had come from, a realization hit.
That place I woke up in, how did I end up there? I know that I was not paying much attention to the things that appeared broken, and that oversight could cost me later on. I do want to know why I was alone in such a place. Was I kidnapped? Did someone die? Who did the sword belong to, and why were those red tears able to help me deal with my thirst? If I concentrate too hard on these questions, then I may end up dead if I'm not paying attention to my surroundings.
Shaking my head to clear my thoughts, I continued walking. The fighting I heard had died down and I was glad that no more of those things happened to be around. The further I walked the more I started to feel anxious. Constantly searching for threats was driving me mad. How am I supposed to know where I'm going if I can't concentrate?
No, I can't take a break. For all I know there might be more of those things hidden around the corner. I needed something to calm down, but there was nothing I could think of. So I moved on, my anxiousness wearing down my mind. I must have kept walking for several hours since the sun had finally risen fully in the sky.
Turns out the way I was going had a lot less buildings. The further I walked, the more desolate everything became. Any buildings that remained were already buried. I had no place to hide now. Do I turn back, or continue north?
Looking back towards the city as I was finally at the outskirts, I spotted several of the monsters running towards me. They were five in number, and it was clear that I had no chance to fight them all. North it is then.
Running in that direction was my only hope now. I could feel them gaining on me as I ran. As I rolled to the side, another ended up narrowly missing my head. I felt a tug on my hair, and then pain. One of them managed to tear off some of my hair. The brown bush was gone, and my hair fell back against my nape.
There was no way I could take them all on, so I began to move around them. My hope was that they would attack each other if I had them get in each other's way. This worked out at first, as I managed to get one of them to hit one of the others. Instead of working as expected, they instead ran at me with more ferocity. This was really bad.
There was no way out. They had me surrounded, and any attempt to escape would be fatal. I need to kill all of them but how? One of them just tried biting my leg, but a swing to its head stopped it. I yelled out in pain as one of them managed to hit me in the chest with its tail. My chest, something wasn't right. I think something broke.
As I struggled to stand, one of them went for my left leg. Pain laced through me. It bit off my foot. Yelling in pain was all I could do before something else began to take place. As my leg bled out, my left hand began to change shape. A strange red claw took the place of my hand and I found myself sinking it deeply into the one that went for my foot. Fighting through the pain, I shoved the clawed arm directly into the thing's face.
The others were trying to eat me as I struggled to swing the sword in my right arm. I had not noticed that I left the tear shaped object back in the city ruins. As my clawed arm sank deeper into the monster, I began to feel it start to stiffen. It finally fell to the ground before mist began to come out and enter through me. My foot stopped bleeding, and I could feel something trying to sprout from my leg. I had no time to dwell on this as the four other monsters were still attacking me as I sat on the ground.
After yanking my clawed hand out of the dead monster, I thrust it against the one coming at my left and managed to gouge out its left eye. This claw was a much better weapon than the sword, yet I could feel my left arm was starting to tire. Dropping the eye, I shoved the claws directly into the hole I made after taking away its eye. Feeling a strange circular object, I yanked it out with enough force to send me toppling backwards.
As I rolled back, one of them had tried hitting my previous position with its tail. Two down and three to go. As the strange mist entered me, I felt an intense burning in my leg. The foot I lost was back, but my shoe was gone. The foot itself felt foreign and numb. I could not fully move it, but had no choice but to stand.
As I stood up, I looked towards the other three that began to circle me again. It was getting harder to focus with how tired I was, and how much pain I was still in from the impact to my chest. I think my ribs might be cracked.
My left hand returned to normal. It had gone completely numb during the fight. I was unable to move it anymore, and the monsters were getting ready to strike. Rolling to the side, I narrowly missed another attack.
It took some time but my new foot was no longer numb. The best way to test it out was to run and so I did. I had not noticed it earlier but the more I fought these things, the stronger and faster I got. For whatever reason, killing them seemed to restore parts of my body. That did not mean I wanted to see what would happen if it managed to remove an entire limb. I felt that whatever was causing me to regenerate body parts would take far too long to give me back anything useful. My foot might be back but that did not mean I could properly run on it.
As I continued to run away from the three, I noticed the distance was widening. They stopped following me and went back towards the city ruins. Sighing in relief I collapsed to my knees. The sword fell beside me as I began to laugh out of relief.
The fighting was intense and my new foot kept itching. I really wanted to scratch at it badly but I was afraid that it would be a bad idea. Not to mention the strange orb that came from one of the monsters I had slain was back near the outskirts at the city. There was no way I was going to go back to this place so in the end I decided to continue north. I doubt there would be anything else that could hurt me but this was all I had.
I really hope there might be someone that could help me. I was so lost and had nothing else to help me in this place.
…...
Several days passed before I ended up at what looked like an abandoned wheel with strange seats connected to it. Looking around the place, I managed to find a couple of wrappers. The thing was old, as the date on the thing seemed to state it was from 2050. Faded words stated it was oc late. I had no idea what oc late may be so I dropped the wrapper. The giant wheel looked like it needed something to power it as I approached.
There were levers connected to an odd platform once I was close enough to properly see. Walking towards the seats, I found that they had quite a large amount of dust. Touching the cushions revealed them to be softer than the ground at least. Sitting on the dusty seat, I laid my head down. This place was better than nothing as I had yet to encounter any living creature for the past few days. Blissful sleep finally overtook me.
So I got a shot today lol. Also been watching the god eater anime and did you know that Aragami can bleed? It's really surprising how they can bleed in the anime. Anyways, hope you find what's happening to be interesting. The healing abilities themselves are not as op as you would think. Things will be explained soon enough.
