My Hero Academia: A Second Chance
Chapter 2: The Early Years
(Age 3)
Being reborn into the MHA universe wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be or what I expected. After being reborn as Tatsuya Montgomery, the first few months of my new life were spent getting used to my new body. Learning how to walk and eat weren't so bad, I mean, everyone's gone to do it may as well start when you are young. Although the potty training days weren't the happiest or the most enjoyable of times but thanks to some help by my amazing new mother and older sister it went easier. The fact that everything seemed bigger and newer gave me a bit of a scare; I was in a new world, in a new body, in a city that I didn't really know anything about. Sure, I had been a big fan of Japanese culture back in my old world and had spoken it as well but being in a new city that was from one of my favorite anime was the definition of a culture shock. Thanks to a lot of practice and listening to my family members I was able to catch onto the language rather easily, even listening to my new father speak Portuguese and even Spanish had helped expand my language repertoire even at such a young age. But since I was so young it was still difficult to pick up languages, so it took a while.
But the biggest pain in the ass was learning how to read. Back in my old day I had to learn to read and write English but in my new world I had to learn Kanji. The symbols themselves were fun to make when they came out but trying to read it was extremely difficult. My mother and my siblings were there to help me when I needed it which made it slightly easier, but it still took a while to learn how to read it and write it. My dad wasn't Japanese but had spent enough time in the country to be fluent in the language, he even helped me get a hang on some of his country's languages. Turns out my dad was half Brazilian-half-Mexican, that was not something that I expected but I guess Alexion and his higher ups decided to add a few twists and turns here and there in my new life.
Now as a 3-year-old I was beginning to finally get a handle on my new body. While It was annoying being stuck in the body of a toddler with the brain of a 20-year-old, I chose to enjoy myself while I was in my child form and really act like a kid. I slept as much as I wanted, begged my parents for treats, and even spent most of my time watching cartoons. It was a nice life as a child, reminding me of the childhood I had in my old life. Speaking off, since Alexion and his bosses let me keep my memories from my past life including already knowing all the events of the Academia universe that had been released in the manga but I didn't let that dictate my new life. I may have known what was going to happen, but I chose to let whatever paths my new life would take me.
Now it was in the afternoon and I was with my mother in the couch watching some Hero cartoons. Even as an adult I loved superheroes and seeing them both on TV and in real life just made my heart soar. My mother was with me, she wasn't a stay at home mother, but she ran a jewelry business from home which allowed her to spend a lot more time with me as I grew. My body was still growing but I kept a few things similar to how I knew I wanted to look when I got older, specifically my hair was short and black that matched the color of my father but my violet blue eyes were an homage to both of my parents . I was excited to see how I would look when I would get older. My mother seemed to like to dress me rather stylishly despite my young age, I wore a collard blue shirt and blue jeans. I had some serious swag as a 3-year-old.
My cartoon was interrupted by a sudden news report, the scene shifted to several villains that were battling in the middle of a populated street fighting against a hero that was dressed like a ninja. I immediately smiled as I recognized the ninja as the Ninja Hero: Edgeshot, he was honestly one of my favorite heroes both in my past and currently. What can I say? I like ninjas.
I jumped up and down on the couch as my mother watched my antics, "Look mama, its Edgeshot! He's so cool! He comes out of nowhere and takes down the villains so easily!" I said excitedly as I jumped on the couch.
My mother giggled at the sight of my actions, "I know he is your favorite hero Tatsu-chan but please be careful. I don't want you getting hurt." She said.
"Oh, don't worry mama. I know exactly what I'm do…whoa!" My foot slid from the couch and I ended up tumbling down off the couch and landing on the living room floor on my back. My vision shook and a small dull pain thudded in the back of my skull.
"Ow." I said as I shook my head to clear the cobwebs.
"Tatsuya," my mother shouted as she was immediately at my side looking me over, "Are you okay? Are you hurt? Does anything feel bad?" she said as she scanned over my body for any injuries.
I smiled at her worry and jumped back to my feet, "Don't worry mama I am A-okay!" I said giving her a double thumbs up.
My mother scowled at me playfully, "Oh you little devil! Don't scare me like that!" she said as she grabbed me and started tickling me. Against my better judgment I began to laugh loudly as my mother kept me in her tickling clutches. Times like this I remembered just how lucky I am to have been given a new chance at life. Even if I am being treated like a child but then again, I am one.
My laughter and the tickling were cut short when the front door opened, and heavy footsteps echoed throughout the entrance way. The towering image of my father entered my vision and I grinned, even at such a young age my brain could tell just how much of a badass he was. His black dreadlocks were cut short to just near his shoulders and his vibrant violet eyes shined with a youthful happiness that you rarely saw in men his age. Not to mention the man was enormous, he stood over six feet and his caramel skin tone made him stand out among the people in Japan. He was dressed in a simple outfit of a sleeveless black shirt and grey jeans with a brown leather jacket over it all along with his signature bracelet. Apparently, he cut his hair shorter after I was born to look slightly more professional in his line of work.
I smiled as I saw him, "Papa, your home!" I yelled happily as I broke out of my mother's grasp and ran towards my father. Juan Montgomery smiled down at me as I ran to him and crouched down to get closer to my height with his arms open. I jumped into my father's arms and he picked me up into his arms.
With a hearty laugh he held me to is chest, "Tatsuya, how are you doing today my little pup?" he asked. After I started learning how to speak, my dad started calling me his little pup. Don't really understand why but I didn't mind it. It was kind of a cool nickname.
"I'm good papa! Mama and I were watching Edgeshot on the TV, he was so cool! He captured a bunch of villains and no one got hurt. It was awesome!" I shouted with my arms raised.
Juan let off a laugh, "Yeah, Edgeshot is a really cool hero. If you had to admire any kind of hero, I'm happy its someone like him."
I nodded, "He is cool but your cooler papa." I said getting a joyous laugh from my dad.
"Glad you can still see that pup." He said as he kissed my cheek. I giggled at the action, sure my older person brain found that a little weird since in my old life I grew up without a father, but this made my new father happy, so I went along with it. My mother came over to the two of us and looked at my father.
"Okaerinasai, anata (welcome home my dear)" She said with a loving smile that my dad returned.
"Tadaima meu amor (I'm home my love)." He said as they engaged in a sweet kiss.
I faked disgust as I covered my eyes, "Eww, papa, mama don't do that! Its gross!" I said with my eyes covered. Of course, I wasn't really bothered by the sight of two people kissing but as a child I had to play up the part.
My parents giggled at my action which made them smile as my father turned to my mother once more, "You should probably get dressed if we are going to make it on time." He told my mother who nodded in response and went off to get changed.
I looked towards my father with a confused look, "Are you and mama going somewhere papa?" I asked.
Juan looked towards me, "Actually, all of us are going to see your grandfather." He said.
I was shocked by this, "I have a grandfather?"
MHA
As soon as my mother was done with getting herself ready, the three of us were now in the family car driving down the streets of Yokohama. I looked out the widow from my spot in a car seat that was placed behind the driver side seat. The city of Yokohama looked beautiful, the city was the second largest in Japan and was littered with various buildings and skyrises some that were decorated with different heroes and even a few video games and TV shows. I chose Yokohama for my new home when I was reincarnated because I had visited it once during my past life and I loved it. The way the city combined the classical Japanese culture with modern technology while still holding the charm of a port town really appealed to me. But now there was something else on my mind. My grandfather. I honestly was not expecting to even have one in this new life but even when being reincarnated I guess life can throw a lot of twists and turns at you.
"Hey mama, how come I haven't met Ojīsan before today?" I asked craning my head over to my mother who sat in the passenger seat.
"Well your grandfather is a very busy man and while he does know of you, it has been very difficult for him to actually get some time to visit. Even your grandmother has a difficult time getting him away from the dojo." She said. Dojo? So, my grandfather was a martial artist? If he was that was cool. I had always been interested in martial arts and I knew that my siblings practiced martial arts as well. If they and my grandfather could teach me when I got older, I could have a lot more to offer the world than just my Quirk. We went and picked up my older brother and sister from their school before we went to see my grandfather. My older brother Ryo was awesome, even at 9 years old. His black hair was styled into black cornrows that looked dope with his dark colored skin and dark blue eyes which he inherited from our mother. Despite his young age, his diligence in athletics and martial arts gave him a muscular build and a great intellect which would no doubt grow as he got older. My brother often doted on me, not in the way that he would spoil me but more in a way that he would help me when I needed it and had no problem with babysitting me while our parent were busy. I was honestly blessed to have a brother like him, cool, calm, serious, yet kind and friendly. Then there was my sister, Izumi.
I never had a sister in my former life, so it was a little new to me, but I was looking forward to having a big sister when I was born again. Then I got to know her. She was a great big sister, kind, loving, and always willing to help others but she did tend to spoil me a lot. She also cuddled me a lot. Like a lot. Any time she could, she would wrap her arms around me and hold me close to her while she stroked my head. It wasn't terrible but it could get very annoying at times. But I was still a child and she was my sister, so I did what I had to do since I did love her, and it made her happy. My sister was a lovely young woman, her long violet colored hair hung down to her shoulders and her bright violet eyes shined with a joy as she looked down at me in my car seat. Both of my siblings wore a school uniform consisting of a white button-up shirt with black blazers and grey slacks for Ryo while Izumi wore a grey skirt.
Izumi looked over at me and lightly pinched my cheeks, "Hi, Tatsu-chan~" she said in a sing-song tone while she fawned over me.
I gave my sister a light smile, "Hi, Nee-chan. How was school?" I asked. My sister still had her hands on my face, she rubbed her hands over my cheeks and stroked my hair almost like I was fragile.
"It was good but I'm more interested in how you are doing. How is it you keep getting cuter each day?!" she practically squealed in joy which made me give her a deadpan look. The way she fawned over me at times did tend to get a little annoying.
Ryo groaned, "Oi Izumi, cut it out would ya? I'm pretty sure Tatsuya can go a few seconds without you gushing all over him." He said as he leaned back in his chair.
Izumi pouted, "Mind your own business Nii-san. With how cute Tatsuya is I'm going to keep loving him as much as I can." She said as she went back to fawning over me. Ryo groaned once more before reaching over and placing his hand over Izumi's shoulder causing her to jump slightly and give off a small squeal.
"Nii-san, that is so not fair! I hate it when you do that." She yelled at our older brother while I gave them a curious look. I suspected that the reason was because of Ryo's Quirk but I didn't really know what it was so I could only guess.
Ryo leaned back again, "I told you to knock it off. The look that Tatsuya was giving you made it obvious he wanted you to stop." He said. I grinned at my older brother and held my fist out to him. Ryo chuckled and knocked his fist against mine, this was something that we had been doing for a long time, so the fist bump was kind of our thing; but the sight made Izumi's face scrunch up even more when Ryo tussled my hair making me laugh.
"Now that's no fair! How come Tatsu-chan is okay with you being close to him?!" she practically yelled which made me cover my ears.
Ryo smirked, "Probably because I don't fawn over him like some kind of doll like you do." He said which seemed to make Izumi even madder.
"Okay you two, that's enough. No need to fight over your brother, especially when he doesn't like seeing you two acting like that." Juan said to all three of us from the driver seat. My two older siblings looked away from each other in annoyance which made me laugh. My siblings did bicker a lot, but I could always tell that they loved each other dearly and while my sister did fawn over me, my brother was usually there to keep her in check and look after me. But I did indeed love my siblings, despite all the odd ways that they acted.
I reached over and placed my hands over theirs, "It's okay, Nii-chan, Nee-chan. Even if you guys are weird sometimes, I still love you both." I said with a smile. Izumi immediately got over her disdain at Ryo and cuddle me again like she normally did which made me give her a deadpan look again.
Ryo chuckled at the two of us before he looked towards me, "Hey, what do you mean I get weird sometimes?"
"Ask Tatsuya later, we're here." Our mother said to us. Myself and my siblings stopped talking to each other while they got out. Ryo helped me by unclipping me from my car seat and carried me in his arms. We all took a few steps forwards and I was able to get a look at where we were. The surrounding area reminded me of a typical downtown area but with an obvious Japanese feel, several types of shops selling different foods, drinks, and even a few different clothing places were littered around the area while people milled around enjoying their day. The place that me and my family were at looked like a typical Karate Dojo but much larger than a normal one with sliding rice screen doors in front with a large wooden roof and blue colored walls that were trimmed with black. Over the front door was a wooden plaque sign with kanji writing on it in black. From what I could remember from my lessons, the sign said Mikazuchi School of Martial Arts. Ryo set me down on the ground but held on to my hand as our family walked into the dojo and I was met by an incredible sight. All around the inside of the dojo, several students were practicing numerous types of martial arts, everything from traditional Karate to more exotic ones like Silat. Different types of training equipment were scattered all around the floor and there were even different types combat arenas that had students in them that were practicing real life combat. I had always been a fan of martial arts and being here was making my heart happy.
"This place is awesome!" I shouted at the top of my lungs. My family smiled and chuckled at my enthusiasm, apparently this was something that they expected from me. We all walked through the dojo passing by several student who apparently knew my family member and some even bowed to my mother and father while others high-fived and hugged my siblings. Soon after walking we came to a small group of students who were practicing Karate katas with a rather intimidating looking man in front of them shouting out orders as they moved along in a unified fashion. The man turned towards us and I was able to get a good look at him. He was tall, standing at over 6 ft and was close to my father's height. He had blue hair that was a dark color, almost cerulean, that was long but tied into a stylish ponytail and his eyes were a deep electric blue almost like my mother's. He was also jacked, probably the most muscular old man that I have ever seen. He was dressed in a simple martial arts Gi, but he didn't have sleeves which showcased his muscular and scarred arms along with black pants, geta sandals, and a black undershirt. As I said before he was old, probably late 70s, but he had a sort of youthful energy to him that made him seem younger than he was.
The old man looked over to us and smiled he then shouted at his students who stopped their movements and stood at attention, "Good work everyone, take a break for now and we will get started on the next set." He instructed.
"Hai, sensei!" the students yelled back as they bowed. As the students dispersed the old man began to walk over to us.
"Ojī-chan!" my sister yelled before launching herself at the older man. He let out a hearty laugh and caught the girl in his arms and lifted her up.
"Izumi my dear, as adorable as ever. Have you been practicing the skills I taught you in your down time?" he asked her. Izumi nodded and started animatedly talking to our apparent grandfather with so much energy that I didn't even know she had. After Izumi ran out of breath, the older man walked over to the rest of us with Izumi in his arms. He gave his greetings to my parents where my mother kissed his cheek, due to the eye color their shared I assumed that she was his daughter. Once he got to my brother and I he knelt to look at us easier and put Izumi back on her feet.
"Ryo my boy, growing more and more every day! Soon you'll be taller than me!" he said joyfully.
Ryo rubbed the back of his head bashfully, "Thanks Jī-chan, but I am nowhere near your height yet." Grandpa laughed heartily before he ruffled my brother's hair. The old man then looked towards me. His deep violet colored eyes seemed to peer into my very soul and yet somehow, I also felt calm when he looked at me, strangely enough. Like he was a warrior but someone who would also make anyone around them feel safe.
"And you must be Tatsuya." He said to me. I couldn't exactly form words now, so I just nodded when he said my name. The older man let out another hearty laugh before he picked me up in his arms and swung me around. The sudden moment made me let out a squeal of fear as I was swung around dojo with my grandfather looking at me with a joyful smile.
"How incredible! Another member of our wonderful family and it's a healthy looking boy! Ha, I feel so blessed that I have lived this long to see the birth of another child from my wonderful daughter," he said as he stopped spinning me and held me close, "It's great to finally meet you little one. I am your grandfather, Mikazuchi Sen. It's great to finally meet you." He said. Despite his loud nature, I could tell that Sen was a great man. He had love and joy in his very presence, and it made me feel happy to just be near him.
I gave my grandfather a large smile, "It's great to meet you, Ojī-chan!" I said with a happy tone. Sen let off a loud laugh before he walked over to the center of the dojo with Ryo and Izumi following him. The minute he was in the center of the dojo everyone in attendance looked to him, making me feel a little odd that there were so many eyes on me but a calm look from my parents told me that I was fine.
"Everyone listen up, I want to introduce you to my newest grandchild. This is Tatsuya, the newest man of this family. You will show him respect whenever you see him the same way you do the other members of my family. Is that understood?" he said with immense pressure in his voice.
"Hai, sensei!" the students in the dojo shouted before all bowing towards me and my family. Had to admit, that was cool.
I let out a small giggle as my grandfather walked back to my parents with siblings trailing behind him, "Grandpa, you are incredible." I said and that was the truth. In my old life I never really had any other family members who were interested in martial arts, it was mainly just me although my former big brother was a military man who taught me a bit self-defense. Now, I have a whole family who can teach me something that I truly love doing.
My grandpa let out a laugh before he sat down next to my parents, "Well thank you for making this old man feel good about himself Tatsuya. I can also tell that you are interested in martial arts." He said.
Izumi looked at Sen, "What do mean Ojī-chan?" she asked.
Sen smiled, "I could tell the minute Tatsuya looked around the dojo. He had this spark in his eye that he really loved looking at what he saw. He reminded me of myself when I first decided to study martial arts."
My mother knelt to look at me, "Is that true Tatsuya? Do you like all the different martial arts here?" she asked.
I nodded my head vigorously, "I do! Everything here looks awesome! There are even some things that I have never even seen before." I shouted as my eyes went towards the students who were practicing some different types of forms in foreign outfits.
I then looked to my parents, "Can I learn martial arts here?" I asked.
My parents looked slightly surprised. I bet they weren't expecting me to ask them something like that while I was still so young. But I knew that a lot of young children tend to get into martial arts a young age which leads them to becoming incredibly skilled in the future.
My mother looked at my father with a concerned look, "What do you think dear?" she asked him.
My father thought for a moment, "Well, I do think it would be good if Tatsuya learned some self-defense while he's still young. Especially in the world that we live in now, you never know when something bad might actually happen." He said. After sharing a quick look with my mother, my father nodded before he looked at me.
"Okay Tatsuya, you can learn martial arts from your grandpa, but you have to promise that you will never use what you learn to fight just to fight." He said.
I nodded quickly, "Of course Tou-san, I don't even care about fighting really. I just want to learn so I can be a cool guy like you, Nii-chan, and Ojī-chan." I said with a smile. That statement made my family laugh. I guess they never really thought that was the reason I wanted to learn. Which wasn't totally wrong.
My grandpa stood to full height, "Okay Tatsuya, welcome to the Mikazuchi Dojo. Get ready to become stronger but do a lot of hard work along the way." He said with a smile.
"Let's do this!" I said pumping my arms.
Age 4
A year had passed since I started learning martial arts from my grandpa and I had to say, despite all the hard work that he put me through even at my young age; I was really enjoying myself. I started learning the basics of Karate from the stances to strikes, since I was still young and pretty small and my parents didn't want me to learn anything that was too dangerous or too risky so we started with the basics but I do tend to observe and copy some of the movements of the different styles that I saw around the dojo. But in all honesty, one of my favorite things to do is watch my older siblings when the spar. Since they were older, they already had a lot more experience when it came to fighting and their skills were incredible. Getting the chance to see them in action made me want to learn as much martial arts as I could, especially when I could see that their preferred skills were completely different from each other. My brother Ryo had a style that was like Jeet Kune Do, he was incredibly fast and mobile on his feet and he seemed to specialize in getting in close to his opponent to finish them off quickly. My sister however, with the type of personality she had, was in the process of creating her own style. From what I could tell, it seemed to be a combination of Taekwondo and Savate with some hand movements and strikes from Wing Chun. The fact that she was able to combine all these styles, even if it was incomplete, was kind of mind blowing to me but still awesome.
It was also around this time that I also met my grandmother, Mikazuchi Takani. The older woman I now knew as my grandmother was a wonderful, kind-hearted woman that treated myself and my siblings with nothing but love and care. She was an older woman in her late 60's with long black hair that had a few grey streaks in her hair that showed her age. Visible wrinkles adorned her white skin and her grey eyes held a warmth you could only find from a grandmother. Not to mention she was also a martial artist like my grandpa, but she specifically centered her training around Aikido and Krav Maga as anyone could see from her athletic frame.
Around meeting her I discovered the Quirks of both my grandparents. Sen's Quirk allowed him to generate electricity inside of his body and use it to strengthen his own physical abilities. When this happened, a dark green lightning erupted from his body and made his eyes glow, I even saw him break a tree trunk with a powered up chop which was awesome. His Quirk reminded me of Burns from Fire Force when he would get all powered up.
Takani's Quirk was rather interesting. Her Quirk allowed her to see what she called a person's "Inner Spark." Since human beings emit various chemicals that create certain effects, Takani's Quirk allowed her to look at the chemicals that humans generate and sees them as various animals that relate to who the person is. Basically, she can look a person and tell what their animal spirit is. I did not expect anything like that as a Quirk, but it was cool to know that there was something like that in my own family. My brother told me that his spark was a bull and my sister was a crane while my dad was a wolf and my mother was a hawk. I didn't have one yet since it was a family tradition that I would get it once I turn 5. But now it did kind of make sense why my dad would often call me little pup.
As I continued to enjoy my new life, most of my days were spent with my parents and at the dojo. Currently I had just finished my Karate lesson with grandpa and the other kids my age and was now waiting with my siblings as my brother prepared for his sparring match happening soon. I was currently sitting in my older sister's lap while she had her arms hanging over my shoulders and her head rested on my mine. I didn't mind this, it was kind of nice. While my brother wrapped his hands, my siblings began talking about Quirks and how they recently saw a local hero take down several villains.
I was curious about what my siblings could do, "Hey, Nii-chan, Nee-chan, what kind of Quirks do you have?" I asked.
My sister looked down at me, "Why so curious Tatsu-chan?" she asked.
"I know that a lot of kids my age tend to get their Quirks around now but I was curious about what everyone else in our family could do other than grandpa and grandma." I said.
Ryo finished with his hands and sat down in front of me and Izumi, "Well if you really want to know my Quirk allows me to create blue electricity from my body which I can then use to make really cool shapes." He said demonstrating by holding his hands out. Soon, blue electricity started to form around his arm which traveled down to his hand, he then curled his fist around the electricity which soon began to take from into an electrical gauntlet and surrounded his arm.
My eyes widened at the sight, "That is awesome!" I exclaimed as I left my position on my sister's lap and went over to my brother. He seemed to smile at my enthusiasm and transformed the electricity into a long spear that he clenched in his fist.
"I can't make anything too fancy or complicated, but this does give me some cool advantages over some enemies I may face when I become a hero." He said extinguishing the electricity. My brother had already told me that he wanted to become a pro hero which I though was awesome. Having a hero as an older brother meant that not only could I see the hero world first had but he could also train me so that I could be ready for when I decided to become a hero.
"Nii-chan, you are going to be one awesome hero!" I said giving him a thumbs up. My brother gave a chuckle and ruffled my hair.
"Ne, Tatsu-chan. Look over here." I heard my sister say. I turned my head and what I saw slightly shocked me. My sister had appeared to transform into what can only be described as a wind fairy. Her skin seemed to become gusts of wind, her hair transformed into wispy steaks of silver mist, her eyes became solid green, and there was even a set of shimmering fairy wings coming out of her back giving her the ability to hover. I was completely stunned at the new appearance my sister had taken on; I could tell that Izumi was a lovely girl but now she just looked mythical.
"Nee-chan, you are beautiful!" I practically shouted which made a lot of the people around us laugh but some of the other boys seemed to agree with my statement.
Izumi giggled as she floated around the dojo like a graceful fairy, "Thank you Tatsu-chan! My Quirk allows me to take on this wind fairy form that lets me fly, move really fast, and I can move the wind around me to help in any way possible." She said as she landed back on the ground and reverted to her normal self.
"That's amazing Nee-chan! People are going to love you when you become a hero!" I said with a smile.
Izumi giggled, "Thank you Tatsu-chan. Maybe I'll be an even bigger hero than Tou-san was?" she said.
That took me by surprise, "Tou-san was a hero?!" I nearly shouted.
Ryo nodded, "Oh yeah, I guess you never knew that did you Tatsuya? Back when Tou-san was younger, he graduated from U.A and was very popular among some of the smaller communities and even worked a few missions with All Might." He said.
My eyes widened, "Tou-san worked with All Might?! That is awesome. I had no idea Tou-san was so cool. I thought he was just a tattoo artist." I said.
Ryo nodded, "Oh yeah, Tou-san ended up becoming a tattoo artist after he met Kaa-san and I was born. Apparently, he wanted a stable job that didn't involve him getting into danger every day, especially since I was so young, and Tou-san didn't want to risk me growing up without a father." He said.
I nodded, "Oh, okay. Is Tou-san's Quirk like yours Nii-chan?" I asked.
Izumi shook her head, "No, Tou-san's Quirk is like mine. Tou-san can create strong gusts of wind that he can shape and use in various ways to help him. Ryo-nii-chan's Quirk is like Kaa-san's because she can generate electricity from her body and let it surround her making her stronger and faster." She explained.
"Wow, so your Quirks are similar but not the same. I guess that makes sense." I said. I already knew that when it came to Quirks, children often inherited either the same Quirks are either of their parents or some kind of mutation of their parent Quirks like Todoroki who developed two quirks from his parents or Iida whose family was known for their engine Quirks. I did know what kind of Quirk I would be getting but it was kind of cool knowing that my siblings and parents had similar Quirks that could help me in the future.
But then a shadow of doubt crossed my mind, "But, what would happen if I don't get a Quirk?" I asked. My siblings looked at me with a concerned look. I knew that I was going to get a Quirk but the thought still crossed my mind. Would my family still care about me even if I didn't have a Quirk or would I be ignored while my siblings got more popular.
My sister hugged me tighter, "If that happens Tatsu-chan, our feelings will never change." She said.
Ryo nodded and tussled my hair, "Quirk or no Quirk, you are still our brother and we will still love you. A Quirk is just something that we are able to do but it doesn't define who you are." He said. I couldn't help but smile at the comments my siblings made it really felt good knowing I had such a loving family.
"Ryo come on let's go. Time for your match!" we all heard Sen shout from the sparring mat. Ryo nodded towards him and got ready for his match.
"Nii-chan," I said as Ryo turned towards me where I had my fist held out, "You got this." I said with a smile. Ryo smiled at me and knocked his fist against mine. He left me and my sister and headed towards the mat. His opponent was someone his age with thick blonde hair that and bright green eyes giving him a sort of rich boy appearance. Which from what I knew about him, he was. I had nothing against people who had a lot of money, but I did have a problem with people who thought they were better than other people just because they had money.
The blonde boy smirked at Ryo as he walked towards him, "Come one Ryo, just give up now and let me win. I always get what I want." He said cockily. The mere insult made me growl, this guy had such a big head and he knew the right words to get under a person's skin.
Izumi wrapped her arms around my shoulder again, "Calm down, Tatsu-chan. I know what he said makes you angry, but you have nothing to worry about. Ryo-nii-chan, never lets anything rattle him when it comes to a fight." She said calmly. Despite being so young, I did sometimes let the emotions from my former life get the better of me, but my sister was always there to calm me down right away. It was really weird how she was able to tell when I was angry. I then looked towards my brother who gave the blonde boy a cold look, Izumi was right. He never let anything rattle him and just continued to put the rest of his sparring gear on before getting into a fighting stance. I knew he didn't need any encouragement, but I really wanted to get under the blonde boy for the snide comment that he made to my brother.
"Nii-chan, ganbatte (do your best)!" I shouted waving my arms. A lot of the other students in the room chuckled at the sudden action while my sister gushed. I couldn't see it all that well, but my big brother looked like he had a small grin on his face.
The blonde boy didn't seem to like it all that much and growled towards me, "Annoying little brat."
"Watch your language." My brother said with a cold tone in his voice. My brother did not like it when people insulted me or anyone else in the family. He entered his usual fighting stance which was an On Guard Position that you traditionally see in Jeet Kune Do and started bouncing on the soles of his feet like Bruce Lee. The blonde boy just smirked and raised his arms in a traditional fighting stance.
Sen raised his arms, "Okay boys, ready? Now remember this battle is purely hand-to-hand, no Quirk usage allowed. Is that understood?"
"Hai Ojī-chan." Ryo said.
"Yep, got it." The blonde boy said cockily.
Sen raised his hand, "Okay then. Ready. Begin!" he shouted brining his hand down. The two young fighters began circling each other while the other members of the dojo cheered them on. I wanted to join in but I was to busy watching their movements. My brother kept his stance up while he continued to bounce on his soles, the blonde boy just smirked at this. He clearly thought that Ryo had enough openings for him to exploit. Which he used. The blonde boy rushed at my brother and went for a straight punch, my brother kept calm and used his forward arm to parry the strike and struck the blonde's chest with the same fist making him back up. The blonde boy seemed shocked by this and Ryo used that to his advantage and pressed his advantage by landing multiple blows to the blonde boy which he tried to block but a lot of the blows landed.
"Yeah Nii-chan! Take him down!" I couldn't resist shouting. I guess seeing my big brother beating the crap out of some guy who was so full of himself made me feel good. Ryo seemed to be spurred on by my cheering and smiled, he took a step back slightly with his guard raised in case of any other attacks. Ryo would have continued his strikes, but grandpa had a rule that the younger kids would fight but there would be no forceful beatdowns when a person couldn't fight back. That's why Ryo backed off. The blonde boy rushed at Ryo and threw several punches and kicks that Ryo blocked but the force behind the strikes pushed him back bit by bit. I had to admit, the blonde guy was annoying, but he did have some skills. My brother may have been getting knocked back but I could tell that the strikes from the blonde guy weren't all that strong because my brother was barely moving from the impacts of the strikes and his blocks were so stable that he was able to absorb all the attacks that were being thrown at him.
The blonde boy threw a wild haymaker, but Ryo moved into the strike and elbowed the blonde boy in the stomach, causing him to double over. Ryo took advantage of that and hooked one arm under the blonde's and grabbed his other arm. He then used his momentum and executed a judo throw and got the blonde boy on his back. Ryo and the blonde boy wrestled on the ground to try and get an edge over the other but my brother was able to maneuver himself into a better position every time the blonde tried to escape.
I raised my arms in joy, "Yeah, Nii-chan! That's the way!" I cheered. My sister giggled at my energy and reactions but the blonde boy didn't seem to enjoy it.
"Shut up brat!" he yelled at me as he tried to escape from my older brother who had moved the blonde onto his side while Ryo moved behind his back and got him into a sleeper hold.
"Yeah Nii-chan! Take him down!" I shouted. Now I was really excited. I really wanted my brother to win. During my new life, I had grown immensely close to my new older siblings and I loved them deeply. They were kind, supportive, loving, and were always there to help me whenever I needed help with anything. Now I wanted to repay the kindness they had shown me in any way I can and right now I wanted to cheer my big brother on in his fight.
"Go for it Nii-chan! Show him whose boss!" I shouted. My brother seemed spurred on my cheering and pulled his grip in tighter to choke the blonde boy out but the blonde glared over in my direction and pinned me with a hateful glare.
"I said," he said as he pointed his hand towards me which glowed with a bright yellow light, "SHUT UP!" he roared out as a bright stream of fire shot towards me and my sister.
My brother quickly released his grip and shot to his feet, "Izumi, Tatsuya!" he shouted as he tried to run towards us. At that moment, my instincts seemed to jump into hyperdrive and slowed the world around me down. I could see my brother reaching out towards me, my grandfather activating his Quirk to get to my faster, and my sister freaking out while the stream of fire raced towards us. The only thing that I wanted to do right now was help my sister.
I pushed my sister out of the way with as much strength as I could muster, "Nee-chan, look out!" I shouted as she moved away from me. I could tell she wanted to protest but the stream of fire that raced towards me was my focus now. But there really wasn't anything that I could so all I did was cross my arms in front of me and closed my eyes. All I could do now was pray that I would get out of this unharmed. Is this how my new life was going to end after it had barely begun?
I waited for the searing blaze to scorch my skin but it never came. I opened my eyes and was shocked at what I saw. My entire body was enveloped in a stormy, azure cyclone that protected my body. It was by no means powerful, but it was strong enough to keep me from getting burned. The minute I saw this I knew what had happened, my Quirk had finally manifested. Soon the fire outside the tornado died down, I didn't want the storm around me to go wild, so I used what control I had over it to keep it calm. I willed the storm around me to slowly withdraw, I lowered my hands and the stormy winds calmed and seemed to dissipate in the air around me. The winds faded but I could still see small amounts of swirling wind around my hands that crackled with electricity. The entire dojo had fallen silent at the events that just transpired. My brother and sister had stood stupefied at what they saw, and the blonde boy was sweating immensely whether it was because of his attack or from the fact that he had just attacked a member of the dojo master's family.
And that honestly made me angry, I didn't really care that the attack almost hit me; I was angrier at the fact that his attack almost hit my sister.
I glared at the blonde with as much anger as my young body could muster, "You, you attacked my sister! You tried to hurt my family!" I yelled at the top of my lungs and my Quirk seemed to respond to my emotions. Savage, stormy winds circled around my arms and hands and whether it was by my Otaku knowledge from my past life or if it was the pure adrenaline that coursing through my veins, I knew what I wanted to do. I condensed the swirling winds into a small funnel in between my hands. Once the wind was at a decent size, I threw my hands forward and shot the miniature tornado at the blonde who guarded himself quickly.
The force of the winds knocked the blonde off his feet and threw him back towards a set of mats that were set against a wall behind him. The blonde hit the mats and the air was knocked out of him and he bounced off the mat and hit the ground. I knew that he wasn't entirely hurt but the impact that he had received would get the wind knocked out of him and now it felt like something was happening to me as well. I suddenly felt like my limbs were made of lead and I could feel my body heat rising like in was getting an intense fever. The entire feeling dropped me to my knees, sweat came off my brow in waves, and I huffing and puffing like I was having an asthma attack.
"Tatsu-chan!" "Tatsuya!" I heard my sibligns yell as they immediately ran to my side to check on me.
"Nii-chan, Nee-chan, wha-what is happening to me?" I was able to studder out in between breathes.
My sister rubbed my back gently, "It's okay Tatsu-chan just breathe, slowly in and out." She said calmly.
"You used your Quirk in ways that your body isn't used to so its going to take a while until you're used to the recoil that comes from using your new powers. Just focus on your breathing for now." Ryo said to me. I nodded and closed my eyes. I took a deep breath in and focused on getting my breathing back to normal. I could feel my body shaking slightly and sweat still falling from my forehead but the more deep breaths I took quickly calmed that feeling and I was able to get myself back to normal.
I got back to my feet and rolled my shoulders, "I feel better." I said getting my siblings to breathe a sigh of relief before my sister ensnared me into a tight hug.
"Baka! Don't you dare scare me like that again! I was so worried you were hurt!" she shouted. I couldn't see her face but from the tone of her voice I could tell that there were tears in her eyes.
I then felt another form press into my back, I looked up slightly and was able to see my brother hugging both me and my sister.
"I am so glad you two are okay. Izumi is right Tatsuya; next time think about your own safety as well okay?" he said with a stern yet caring tone in his voice.
I quickly wrapped my arms around both of my siblings and closed my eyes, the three of us had just gone through a rather frightening ordeal and the only thought on any of our minds was to make sure that all of us were okay.
"Gomen ne, Onee-chan. And I understand Nii-chan. I'm sorry for scary you both." I said as we all hugged each other tighter.
Our grandfather came over to us and knelt to our level, he looked over all of us and made sure that none of us had any injuries but the smile on his face was easily recognizable as one of immense pride.
"I am so glad that all of you are okay," he said before he grinned at me, "And Tatsuya, this is incredible!" Sen shouted before he picked me up and swung me around as he had come accustomed to doing.
"You protected your sister in a reckless fashion and manifested your Quirk at the same time! You truly have Mikazuchi blood in your veins!" he said.
I blushed slightly at the comment and rubbed the back of my head, "Thanks Ojī-chan." I said bashfully.
"Hey! What about me?! I was the one who got thrown into a wall!" the blonde boy said as he stood up with an angry look on his face.
Sen put me down before addressing the blonde boy, "You were thrown into the wall and yet you seem surprisingly unharmed despite that. Seems like my grandson has a bit more control than you do, Tsukuda-kun." He said crossing his arms and giving the blonde a stern look.
I couldn't help but giggle, "Tsukuda? That's his name? Sounds kind of funny when you say it out loud." I said causing the others around me chuckle as well but also made Tsukuda fume with rage.
"Don't you dare mock my name, you stupid brat!" he said as he began to march over to me but my grandfather blocked his path. The mere presence he was giving off felt like there was an intense pressure he was exuding onto everyone in the dojo but Tsukuda looked like he was about to wet himself.
"You are very lucky that Tatsuya had enough control over himself that he didn't hurt you. But despite that you still violated the rules of my dojo and used your Quirk in a hand to hand only match." Sen stated his heavy presence never leaving him.
Tsukuda swallowed hard, "I was getting annoyed because the brat was shouting so loud! I just did what came to me first." He said.
Sen's eyes seemed to flash with anger, his bright violet eyes flashing as he did. I also noticed that his Quirk seemed to react along with that as bright streaks of electricity arched off his body. My siblings quickly pulled me away from our grandfather like they could tell that he was about to go off in some way.
"You haven't learned a thing by being, here have you? I teach everyone here that if you let you're anger get the better of you then that leads you to make stupid decisions and that was just proven today by you. You got angry all because Tatsuya was cheering on his brother and that led you to use your Quirk which could have severely harmed someone," he said as he pierced Tsukuda with a deathly glare, "You almost hurt one of my grandchildren. A member of my family! You have just committed a grave offense and as such you are no longer welcome in my dojo." He stated shocking everyone.
Tsukuda's eyes widened, "What?! Oh, come on that is not fair!" he shouted.
"I don't care if you think that. I make the end decision in this dojo and I say that due to your behavior today and the attitude you have had for the past few weeks, my decision is final. You are no longer a student at the Mikazuchi dojo." Sen stated. Tsukuda gaped at the older man with a look of complete disbelief but he knew that he couldn't speak against Sen, mainly because he was absolutely terrified of the man.
Tsukuda growled, "Fine! But my dad is going to hear about this!" he said.
Sen shrugged, "If you say so," he said turning to one of the elder members of the dojo with thick black hair tied in a braid and silver colored eyes, "Akashi, send the boy home." He said.
Akashi nodded to Sen, "Osu, Sensei." He said and turned to Tsukuda. Akashi held his hand out a portal appeared right next to the younger blonde boy.
"Just think really hard about where you want to go, and my portal will take you there but take this walkie talkie just in case you get lost." He said throwing the small black device to Tsukuda. The boy caught it and huffed before walking through the portal which Akashi closed as soon as he was gone.
I let out a deep breath, "Wow, that certainly was something." I said.
Ryo chuckled, "Yes it was but let's look on the bright side of what just happened. You finally manifested your Quirk Tatsuya, just wait until Tou-san and Kaa-san hear about this." He said with a smile,
"Hear about what Ryo?" all of us turned our heads to see Juan and Rino walking into the dojo. I was really excited about telling my parents about my Quirk, so I immediately ran towards them with a huge smile.
"Papa, mama guess what? I finally got my Quirk!" I said happily as I held my arms out and willed miniature storms to surround my arms.
Both of my parents' eyes widened in shock at this sight and quickly pinned me with a look, "When did this happen?!" they both shouted while I had an immense smile on my face as both me and my siblings began talking over what happened.
MHA
The whole family had moved back to the Montgomery house to hold a miniature celebration for the arrival of my Quirk. It wasn't anything fancy but the whole family including my grandma and grandpa were in attendance while my mother and sister cooked up a few dishes that had become my favorite since I was reborn. While everyone mingled around, I was busy with my brother who was giving me some pointers on how to better control my Quirk.
"Now remember Tatsuya, even though our Quirks are amazing they are also physical abilities. What you felt today could possibly have been a lot worse if you overused your Quirk but thankfully nothing bad happened. So always be mindful of how you use your Quirk." He instructed.
I nodded my head in understanding, "Hai, Nii-chan." I said.
Ryo then smiled, "Good, now try and create a tornado like you did earlier." He instructed. I nodded my head put my hands in front of me, so they were facing each other, I concentrated my power and soon a miniature azure tornado appeared in my hands. The tornado swirled with mighty winds and flashing lighting along with small amounts of water and ice mixed in. I kept it at a steady size so it would be easy to control but I decided to have some fun with it and moved my hands around to make the tornado move around me and my brother which caused him to laugh. My actions soon got my entire family included as they watched me use my new Quirk, I was slowly getting used to using it and I had to admi; this felt incredible. The childhood dream that I had was now a reality, I had superpowers.
Sen chuckled, "Look at him, the boys a natural." He said.
Juan nodded, "He truly is something isn't he and he has such a unique Quirk as well. Like it's a combination of both mine and Rino's." my father said out loud which got me thinking. When I was selecting my Quirk for when I would be reborn I stated I wanted to be able to manipulate all the elements of a storm so it got me wondering. Would I be able to control the various elements of a storm if they were separated? I quickly decided to put my theory to the test. I crossed my legs and focused on the storm in front of me.
Izumi became curious about me new serious look, "Tatsu-chan, what are you trying to do?" she asked. Instead of responding back to her I focused on what I wanted to do. I visualized the tornado in front of me separating into two different elements. I slowly pulled my hands apart from each other and as if responding to my will, the tornado separated into a cyclone of pure wind and a circling helix of lightning. My entire family was shocked at what I had just done and how easily I made it happen.
Juan crouched down next to me, "Tatsuya, what exactly did you do?" he asked.
I smiled as I made the wind and lightning dance around, "Well when you said that my Quirk was a combination of both yours and Kaa-san's I came up with an idea of taking the storm apart. So, it looks like I can control both the wind and thunder in the storms that I make." I said as I dispersed the wind and thunder.
Rino had a look of disbelief on her face, "I cannot believe that Tatsuya was able to think of something so unique involving his Quirk." She said.
Haruka giggled, "Seems like Tatsuya-kun has inherited his mother's sly mind." She said making Rino playfully slap her sister's shoulder.
"If Tatsuya can think of something with his Quirk at such a young age, who knows what he will be able to do once he has more control." I heard my grandfather say. My grandmother nodded to her husband and made her way over to me.
"Tatsuya, I have something for you," she said as I stood up, "As with the traditions in our family, I have decided to give you a totem that symbolizes the animal of your inner spark." She told me as my eyes widened.
"Eh, really?! But I only just got my Quirk?" I exclaimed.
Takani giggled, "Oh Tatsuya, I found out what your inner spark was from the moment I laid eyes on you." She said.
"Huh?! Then why did I have to wait until my Quirk showed up to find out what it was?"
"Its tradition." Everyone else said. My shoulders slumped at the simple response that my family gave which irked me slightly but I let it go.
I then turned to my grandmother, "So Obā-chan, what is my spark?" I asked. My grandmother smiled as she reached into her coat pocket and pulled out a hand carved wooden totem of a bird totem with its wings outstretched. It was colored a deep grey with black sidings and a yellow beak. The totem itself was strung onto a leather cord.
Takani placed the totem around my neck, "Your inner spark is the falcon, the lord of the skies. The falcon symbolizes success, victory, and rising above any situation. With the falcon guiding you, I have great faith that you will tackle whatever challenge that comes your way with the utmost courage." She said with a smile.
I gazed down at my new necklace and gave my grandmother a smile, "Arigato, Obā-chan!" I shouted before kissing her cheek. Takani gave me a warm smile before she kissed my head. At that moment, my father and mother grabbed a set of drinks and raised their glasses which everyone else mirrored.
"Let's all make a toast, to Tatsuya. Our youngest member who has successfully manifested his Quirk and is on his way to learning how to use it and becoming a strong man in his own right. Cheers!"
"Cheers!"
A warm feeling began spreading throughout my heart as I felt the love that my family had for me. I just wanted to thank Alexion and all of his bosses who gave me a second chance at this new life that I was loving so much. And I could not wait for what the rest of what my new life was going to hold for me.
