(A/N: Okay, so in the first chapter, we learned from the girls that Mario and Peach are getting married today! Now we get to join Mario and find out what he's up to.)

At Luigi's Mansion (which was currently a bachelor pad for the Mario Bros.), Mario was lying in his bed, fast asleep. And the sunlight streaming through the bedroom window wasn't waking him up.

Luigi, dressed in his bathrobe and slippers, opened the door to Mario's bedroom and was not amused to find that Mario was still asleep. Luigi himself had been up for an hour now, and he'd had his shower during that time.

"Mario, rise and shine! Wakey-wakey, eggs and bakey!" Luigi said as he walked over to Mario's bed.

Mario didn't reply. He just turned over in his sleep, seemingly ignoring his brother.

"Mario!" Luigi said in a stern tone, hoping that would wake Mario. It didn't.

"Isn't he going to get up?" Cappy asked as he flew into the room. He spent the night at Luigi's Mansion so he would finish Mario's wedding ensemble in time for the wedding.

"I don't know. I was hoping he'd get up while I was in the shower. My guess is he was too excited to sleep, but I can't let him sleep in on his wedding day." Luigi said.

"Well, good luck." Cappy said, flying back out to the foyer.

"Come on, bro, you've gotta wake up. You're getting married today, remember?" Luigi said, shaking Mario to try and wake him up.

Mario still didn't wake up. Either he was a heavy sleeper, or he was really tired.

"I could tell him that King Boo is coming. That would wake him up." Luigi thought. But then he figured, "No, that's a bad idea. Mario has enough nightmares about him and what he did as it is. And besides, he'd never forgive me if I scared him awake on his wedding day. This is supposed to be the happiest day of his entire life."

Luigi stood by the bed, watching Mario sleep. What could he do to wake his brother without upsetting him?

"There must be something I can do..." Luigi muttered to himself as Mario turned over in his sleep again.

At that moment, Polterpup walked into the room and barked, getting Luigi's attention. This gave Luigi an idea!

"Of course! Come here, Doggy!" Luigi called to his pet.

At this, Polterpup ran to Luigi, jumped into his arms, and licked his face.

"Good boy. Now how about you wake up Mario the way you do me?" Luigi asked, setting the panting puppy on Mario's bed.

Polterpup saw that Mario was asleep and he immediately knew what to do. He proceeded to shower his master's brother in dog drool by licking his face. Sure enough, it woke Mario up, just like it did Luigi.

(A/N: I got the idea from "Luigi's Mansion 3", after Luigi jumps down the laundry chute. He must've blacked out after that 'cause he awoke to find Polterpup licking his face. How much do you guys wanna bet Polterpup does this to Luigi to wake him up every morning?)

"Okay, okay! I'm up! You can stop now!" Mario protested, laughing as the puppy covered his face in doggie kisses.

"Morning, sunshine." Luigi said, glad to see that Mario was finally awake.

"Luigi, who gave you permission to come in my room and put Doggy on my bed to wake me up?" Mario asked, sitting up and wiping his face with his pajama shirt as the dog jumped down from the bed and left the room.

(A/N: My guess is that the Polterpup's name is 'Doggy' because I've never heard Luigi refer to the dog by any other name. I even heard Mario say 'Doggy' to Polterpup in "Luigi's Mansion 3". But I'm still gonna call him 'Polterpup'.)

"I gave myself permission, 'cause I'm not letting you sleep in on your wedding day." Luigi replied.

"Oh, is that all..." Mario started to say, before realizing exactly what Luigi said, and he exclaimed, "Wait a sec! My wedding is today! Mama-mia! I've gotta get ready!"

Without further ado, Mario leaped out of bed, knocking Luigi down as he ran to the linen closet for a towel before racing into the bathroom to shower.

"You're welcome." Luigi sarcastically said, standing back up and dusting himself off. As he passed by the bathroom, he asked, "Would you like me to fix you something for breakfast when you get out of there?"

"Thanks, Luigi, but I don't know if I'll be able to eat." Mario said from behind the door.

"I hate to tell you this, but breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so I suggest you don't skip it. Besides, not eating will give you a headache tomorrow, and if I'm right, you mentioned that you and Peach leave on your honeymoon tomorrow. You don't want to start that with a headache." Luigi told him.

"I know." Mario groaned.

"You're not sick, are you?" Luigi asked, a little concerned.

"No, I've got a tummy full of butterflies as big as Bowser ruining my appetite." Mario replied.

"I should've seen that coming." Luigi muttered, before saying, "In the meantime, I'll just have my own breakfast."

"You do that." Mario told him as he turned on the water and got in the shower.

"How is he?" Cappy asked as Luigi walked past him on his way to the kitchen.

"Very nervous. But that's to be expected. He's marrying a princess." Luigi responded.

"Tiara and I knew he was planning to propose, and we so badly wanted her to accept when he did." Cappy told him as he followed Luigi to the kitchen.

"Mario told me that when he was about to ask, Bowser stopped him and made a last-ditch attempt to propose. It scared him so bad that when he tried proposing, Bowser was trying to force Peach to choose him, and that made Mario try to force her as well." Luigi said.

"And then she turned them both down." Cappy said, sounding unhappy as he remembered. He hated that poor Mario, who had gone through so much to rescue Peach from that big goon, had been turned down by her.

"Yeah. It hurt him so bad, he was nervous about trying to propose again. After he botched the attempt to propose at the Moon Kingdom, he figured Peach would turn him down again if he tried again." Luigi said.

"I was wondering why he didn't try proposing when we were on the Odyssey, going home." Cappy pointed out.

"Now you know." Luigi replied, deciding to fix himself a bowl of Lucky Charms and a glass of orange juice.

"I should probably fix Mario some Lucky Charms. Maybe that'll help with the butterflies in his stomach." Luigi said after swallowing a spoonful of the cereal.

"Maybe." said Cappy.

A few minutes later, Mario came into the kitchen. He was wearing his robe, and his hair was still damp from the shower. By then, Luigi had finished his breakfast.

"Hey, bro. What do you wanna eat? Perhaps some Lucky Charms?" Luigi asked as he took his bowl, spoon, and glass to the sink to wash them.

"Do you have any cereal bars?" Mario asked.

"Yes, but don't tell me that's all you want." Luigi said.

"If I say it is, do you promise not to get upset?" Mario asked.

"Mario, if that's all you're going to eat, at least have something to drink with it." Luigi said.

"Okie-dokie." said Mario.

"What do you want to drink?" Luigi asked.

"Surprise me. Now tell me where you're hiding the cereal bars." Mario said.

"Fine. I'll get you a drink, and for your information, I'm not hiding the cereal bars. They're in the pantry. Check the second shelf from the top." said Luigi. He reached into the cupboard, which was right over the sink, and got out a glass. Then he went to the fridge and poured some milk into the glass.

By that time, Mario had found a strawberry cereal bar to eat, and he unwrapped it as he sat down at the table with it.

"Here you go." Luigi said, handing the glass of milk to his brother.

"Thanks, bro." Mario replied after swallowing a bite of the cereal bar.

"That's what brothers are for." Luigi replied, sitting down and watching his brother eat.

"What are you doing?" Mario asked.

"Making sure you eat. I don't want you getting married on an empty stomach." Luigi said.

"I have a cereal bar, and a glass of milk. I'm planning to finish them both." Mario said.

"And I'm also planning to wash the dishes as soon as you're done with that glass of milk." Luigi told him.

"Okie-dokie." Mario said.

"Besides, you should be happy I had Doggy wake you this morning. I was thinking of telling you that King Boo was coming, but that wouldn't be nice. You already have enough nightmares about what he did to you as it is. I didn't want to scare you awake." Luigi said.

"Good thing, too. I never would've forgiven you if you scared me awake today." Mario said.

"Yeah, I'm glad I thought of something else." Luigi said, but he was thinking, "I knew it."

"Thanks, Luigi." Mario said, smiling.

"You're welcome, Mario." Luigi replied, returning the smile.

In a minute, Mario finished his breakfast, and then began making his way back upstairs.

"Are you going to get dressed now?" Luigi asked.

"Not yet. I still have other things to do." Mario replied, leaving the kitchen.

"Wait! I'm going with you!" Cappy said, following Mario.

"Okay." said Luigi as he started washing the few dishes.

Mario, meanwhile, had gone back to the bathroom to brush his teeth, and his hair, and he even combed his mustache.

When Cappy saw where Mario was going, he flew into Mario's bedroom to wait for him.

Once Mario was satisfied, he went back to his bedroom and found his white wedding tux. He quickly put it on and checked himself in the mirror.

"I hope Peach thinks I look good, 'cause she's going to look so lovely that I can't wait." Mario said to himself.

"Wait a sec!" said Cappy. He quickly set himself on Mario's head, acting as his wedding hat.

"Oh, right." Mario said.

"Now you're all set." Cappy replied.

"You think Peach will like what she sees?" Mario asked.

"No." Cappy said.

"What?!" Mario asked, upset.

"She's going to love what she sees, 'cause you're the groom, not Bowser!" Cappy said.

"Oh, right! Thanks." Mario smiled, relieved.

"You're welcome." Cappy replied.

"Of course you'd be dressed and ready to go before me..." Luigi said as he came upstairs to see that Mario was all set for the wedding.

"Don't blame me. You're the one who wanted to wash the dishes." Mario said.

"I know, but I'm not one to let them sit in the sink all day. I'll go get ready, and then we'll head to the chapel." Luigi said as he walked into his bedroom. He would finish preparing in the master bathroom, and then get dressed.

"I just hope Peach isn't there before us, or if she is, that she's not in plain sight." Mario said.

"Why? Don't you want to see her?" Cappy asked.

"Yes, but not before the wedding. It's bad luck to see the bride before the wedding." Mario said.

"Really?" Cappy asked.

"That's what they say." Mario replied.

As Luigi got ready, Cappy remembered what Luigi told him.

"Your brother said that after Peach turned you down, you were scared to try and propose again." Cappy said.

"I was. But I had thoughts of trying again, though." Mario said.

"Why didn't you?" Cappy said.

"Every time I thought about doing so, the memory of her turning me and Bowser down would resurface, and... I lost my nerve. I was too nervous to go and get an engagement ring for her because I was scared of her not accepting it." Mario sadly explained.

"Didn't you propose to her at all?" Cappy said.

"No. She asked me. It took her seeing me almost done in by Sephiroth that did it." Mario said.

"Why did she wait so long, but more importantly, why did she wait until you were almost killed again?" Cappy said.

"I didn't ask, and I'm almost afraid to." Mario explained.

"You can ask her when you're married." Luigi said as he stepped out of his room, dressed in a sharp, black tuxedo.

"You're not wearing white?" Mario asked.

"No. I didn't want people to have trouble figuring out which of us is the groom." Luigi said.

"Good point. Let's-a go!" Mario said.

"Right!" said Luigi.

They got in their car and drove to the chapel where the wedding would take place.
