Alight guys I hope you liked my intro to this story now we can continue I typically try to post sooner but ive been focused on a lot going on in my life and many other stories as well. That being said I haven't seen much response yet so I'm hoping this reads as well as the first chapter.

I feel the need to explain the difference between the Harry we all know and the harry this story shows. Its clear that he is struggling with dreams reminding him of the fact his world had been changed by multiple people and things. So far he has no idea how to find and work a muggle job. He feels compelled to understand the importance his life went the way that it did but is often weighed down by he's fathers pride that put him there. Also he struggles with the line between what makes him muggle and what makes him him.

We've been told from the first book that muggles and wizards are different based on how much fun they have, how tidy they are, even how nice or rotten they are. Is his new habits depression or is it the lack of spark inside him.

Enjoy!

"Run Lily!" James yelled. Lily traced her fingers through his hair. Tears streaming down her face. Spinning around she protected him knowing she was to be struck down no matter what. She begged to take her life and spare his. They knew if he came it was for him but it was to be this way. Green flashed before him once. Though it was frightening the second flash brought him great pain.

Once again Harry woke from a searing dream to his reality. This particular dream tended to reminded him that some how unknowingly he father sealed his fate. By lying he was considered a half blood like Voldemort whom had great power decided Harry was his greatest rival. In doing so it had given Harry a blessing and a curse.

Truth was all those years Dumbledore felt Harry was so similar to Voldemort the magic inside him made him more so than anyone could have ever known. He proudly wore his abilities and yet it was the magic of this man that killed his parents that he carried.

Then again his parents were not the only ones. Cedric, the Riddle home caretaker, even Ginny had been hurt long before his return. He was no longer proud to have been as strong as he was or gifted. It felt like a lie.

Thinking as he lay in his bed that his father had ruined his life with pride and ego was the only way he could push himself to get up and thrive exactly how he had been afraid to see his son live. A fresh shower and clean room unlike his former habit of clutter and unorganized his shaggy hair was trimmed now that his magic couldn't restore it.

This was his ordinary life as bleak as it was and possibly dreadful as he first felt about it it was growing on him. Toast and eggs for breakfast then grab the paper from outside. The one without his name plastered on it. Often it was to early to see anyone when he woke up however today it was late enough he could see his neighbors leaving for work. He had no experience in the real world as his education was abandoned at the time his schooling to Hogwarts began.

Kingsley was working hard to build a cover or solution. Not that Harry even had an idea what he might do out there. If Hermione joined him perhaps she might help. He considered asking his neighbors more about themselves but he never could fully tell about himself.

Having decided to invite Hermione out with him he waited a bit before he'd go alone if she busy. Actually she was working on something she had yet to tell him. He was aware she might be trying to aid him in some way not that he expected anything to help fix all of his problems.

"You are thinking loudly again. Didn't even notice my fire call."

"Oh gezz sorry 'mione so I guess your free. Great."

"I'm here aren't I? So where to?" She asked ready to go.

"I was thinking around I haven't actually been out to see much more than this neighborhood. I may find something I can do for work. Then I was thinking lunch." He was shoving on shoes and a coat as he spoke. He faced her to see a hint of redness under her eyes. "What happened?"

"Nothing just had another bad discussion with Ron. He came to me after hearing about yours and Ginny's fight."

"It was hardly a fight she excepted I was a terrible boyfriend and she cant sacrifice her family and life for a plain an boring one."

"Regardless he lost his temper and came to me to beg me to force you to stop being ridiculous about all this. I had to explain once again that just because he can forgive and forget so easy that you loved magic doesn't mean you can. He said I was a coward or babying you so I could keep you to myself."

"I'm not anyone's possession! That git actually thinks I'm under your thumb about this or something?"

"We both know you're not. Let's get out and focus on today."

"Yeah." The pair walked by house after house until Harry mentally prepared for the world beyond this familiar neighborhood. No matter all he'd seen in the past or on the run nothing was as strenuous as venturing out with the safety net of magic. He was thankful his friend was there. There were markets, shops, schools, and all the important things for this small town to run. He had seen it all before whether from the Dursleys car if he was lucky enough to go or his rebellious walks from home even though he was to be the unseen or heard child in the house.

It wasn't all familiar but Hermione explained them without judgement. He understood it having known the science behind most everything. He however wasn't sure of the policies. How could someone not need education to be valet driver, car washer, or even a waiter, but you need one to help the city. To be a cop, a fireman, or teacher. He had assumed being an Auror he would receive training but not years of school and training.

He could still get educated but it would be far more difficult than one might think. Hermione left out that she had things she had been looking into. That she was even now thinking of. Wondering if she could fix his situation. She didn't want to creating hope and wishful thinking if it all ended in failure.

Harry saw the distraction but was more willing to leave it be as the. Found somewhere to eat in the town. Hermione said it reminded her of the place she and her parents went for weekend trips. This however made them reminisce on Hermiones trip to recover her parents. It had gone about as well as anyone would guess. They were upset but in the end happy that their daughter was alive.

"How are they?"

"Well you know trying to makeup for lost time but actually really great. Since the house was repaired they haven't need to do much to make it feel right again. I am being made accountable for replacing all pictures I can't revert back to normal by taking new ones every visit."

"Your mums?" Harry asks slightly amused by this as the image came to mind.

"Worse my father." Hermione groans rubbing her forehead in embarrassment. "He has even went an purchased playground set I use to play on just to recreate it. I can only slide down a kid slide so many times before it's weird." The pair laughed about this and more through the whole meal an the walk back to his home.

Entering the home again Harry stepped in behind Hermione she spun around with a question on her lips. It looked as though it was stuck the moment she realized how close he was behind her. His height was just slight taller than hers and so her breath swept over his chin and neck. As she went to step back he placed a hand on her waist. This however she steps out of his hands hold.

"I'm sorry, I noticed the work you did outside. I was going to ask where you found the supplies. You are to quite. I practically whipped your face when I turned around didn't I?"

"Um.. A little but well I didn't.. Right sorry I scared you thought you were gonna trip just now."

"Right, no I'm..fine" The moment was gone again and once again the two wondered why something was there in the first place. Neither realizing yet it was mutual. How could they when merely months ago they had told Ron vehemently that there was nothing between them.

"I went to a place on the other side of town with my neighbors husband. Once and I can't remember where it was." He grew red in the face a little. He didn't wear his embarrassment all night long though. Nor did he blow up trying fix the leak of emotional expression. Harry was so much unlike Ron but in a good way.

Even though Hermione was making comparisons in her head of the man who wanted to date her again to the man she felt comfortable staying with until she needed to head into work for some papers she was still listening. She was talking and they had no problems when the time came for her to go.

If Harry had known that through the fire place that Hermione had left by she was walking through the ministry halls. She was walking straight to her co-workers office not grabbing papers. In fact this was as off the books as it could be thanks to her connections to Kingsley who approved the side project if it got Harry Potter back into the magical world. Harry would not approve of this she knew.

"Evening Ms. Granger." A nerdy looking lab coat employee greeted her.

"Evening Elidon how is the studies coming?" As the leading potions expert/creator in the ministry Hermione enlisted his help as she was good but not good enough to get this kind of progress. Across the laboratory strew several destroyed cauldrons and three still brewing. The three still brewing were separated from one another and sat beside them doing the stirring were assistants that she would not have.

"Oh the challenge has been made my friend but we are not breaking under the pressure." He said coolly while fixing his specs.

"Good to hear. I know this project is a bigger stretch in its field than most would like but I am so glad you find it so invigorating."

"Well the theory is all here." He says pointing to the original file she wrote up to prove the possibilities of an outcome. "When you asked me to help you make a potion to tap into a squibs power. Essentially unlocking it I was thrilled to give it a go. My Gran's sister is a squib you know. They get along so well but it would have been so nice for them to be closer."

"That's why I wanted it. We all have someone we want to bring into our world better." Hermione though of Harry and how out of place he was in the muggle world. He had latched on to the idea of magic so fast he never let go until the day his power disappeared.

"Yeah Mr. Potter should feel lucky you are looking out for him like this."

"It's not just for him. I can't give him false hope. This has to be in play and above board for me to give this to him."

"Ms we are off the books though Kingsley said-"

"I know that's just to get the nit and grit out of the way. The real work begins when we have a close enough formal or brew made to go to a board with."

"Ah of course." Beside Elidon she observes the assistants work and finds them adding notes as each new stage appears to record the work progress and findings. Hermione is happy to help when they talk over ingredients and realize some things that are out dated can be tried again with more modern yet similar ingredients. Only a few that Hermione knew from the muggle world could apply.

"You seem to have so much progress made and a very clear direction your going let me know if I can be more assistance to you and if you make a break through I'll get the paperwork started and we can really make things happen." Hermione naturally didn't work on this floor she was still a nobody doing nothing at all towards her dreams yet but she was going to one day if she kept on.

Leaving the ministry she hardly intended to run into Ron but as soon as she walked into the elevator she wasn't purposely leaving now. Even with the ministry worker Ron looked ready to railroad her. She got off on her own floor. She didn't have a private office but she knew Ron was there following her into a empty communal office.

"Hermione." He says as she closes the door. " I'm sorry I was so short with you. I just thought you and Harry have more in common when he's like this. He's my best friend and I don't get him at all right now. If he could just try you know. He was to young for the triwizard tournament and we helped him get through that."

"It's not the same Ronald. You weren't short with me for that reason alone. You felt if Harry don't have Ginny and I'm not with you we might kindle some feelings. That's possible for anyone in his position but I'm helping him an while I have no intention of crossing lines I'm not certain you and I are happening right away anyways."

"What do I have to do to make this happen?"

"I can't tell you. I'm not an easy person to win trust from. We had just survived an extremely dangerous situation. Our interest in one another prior to you abandoning us was still fresh but now you have no reason not to know what to do on your own."

"You're still mad 'mione we've been over this before. It happened the way it did for a reason. I'm sorry I left. No, no Hermione that's a lie okay. I'm sorry you did come with me. I would have gone back that night with you after blowing off steam."

"Typical."

"What you still want me to beg I'm done begging."

"No Ron I wanted a fucking date you idiot. A proper date. We are done."

"Wait really a date? I can fix this by taking out?"

"Could have. Now I don't think so. Bye Ronald." She wanted to add he should tell his family but but her tongue.

"Ppft sure you're just say that because you are shagging him aren't you. Just needed an excuse didn't ya?"

"Sure Ron that is just what I do you know. Bookworm whoring around! Bugger off eh you clearly don't know me." She storms out of the office leaving Ron standing dumbfounded. If it was not aimed at him the rant and steaming fury of the brunette would have been alluring. Yet it was anyways.
