Chapter 2-Calling Luke
Hector couldn't believe his luck. He was so excited that David was able to get him an interview. He spent all Sunday night trying to decide the perfect outfit. He decided on chinos and a blue button down but was going to put a bag with jeans and a shirt in the truck. He printed out his resume and was ready for whatever Tuesday brought.
Hector called Luke at 10 on Monday morning. He figured that the big breakfast crowd would be over and they might have a chance to talk.
"Luke's"
Hector, a little nervous, said, "Hello, I am looking for Luke."
"This is Luke. Who's calling?"
"This is Hector Rivera. David Morgan gave me your name. I am in culinary school with him and am ready for my internship. David mentioned that you might be interested in letting me do my internship with you. Are you interested or was he wrong. Sorry I'm a little nervous."
Luke replied, "Yes I'm interested Hector. David mentioned something about coming tomorrow to talk to Sookie and Lorelai. Are you available to come with him tomorrow?"
"Yes, I am available to come tomorrow. David said he was meeting Lorelai at 11:30 so she could show him around the inn and then they were planning on coming to your place for lunch and then going back to talk to Sookie. I can have David drop me off at your place on the way to the inn if that works."
Luke thought for a moment and said, "That would work great. We can sit and talk for a bit and then we all can have lunch if you would like. And then talk about anything we might have missed. David tells me you are a cook so I am going to want you to cook me a hamburger and a turkey burger both with fries and make a salad. Nothing fancy. Just want to see how you work in the kitchen. Will that be a problem."
Hector chuckled and said, "No, that definitely won't be a problem. I love to cook good American diner food. Honestly I am excited for David as that's his dream internship but that food is a little too fussy for me."
Luke then chuckled and said, "Hector relax. I think we are going to get along just fine as I too think that food is a little fussy for me. See you tomorrow. Have a great day."
"You too. Thank you. See you tomorrow."
Hector called David back and they spoke about his conversation with Luke. Hector felt so much more at ease after talking with Luke.
