"Good Morning, Andrea." Miranda offered after Andy let herself in with her key.
Andy took off her face mask. "Good Morning, Miranda." She beamed admiring Miranda's outfit. "I love your shoes." She blurted.
"Thank you, they're part of the new Prada line," Miranda said glancing down at them. "Let's get to work. I already have our coffee waiting." She said as she motioned for Andy to follow her upstairs.
"Wow, I didn't realise you'd remodelled your office?" Andy exclaimed, glancing around the room.
Miranda smirked. "I figured, since we may have to work here for a while we'd need a decent workspace." She trailed a hand over one of the chairs as she moved behind it. "So this is your desk, I thought it would be more convenient to have it opposite mine. There's water for us in the fridge there." She flicked her hand. "And I prepared some office supplies for you. You should be able to hook up your computer to the printer." She explained. Miranda was satisfied to notice that her assistant seemed pleased with her. It left her feeling a little proud that she'd done this herself.
"I'm impressed that you got all this done so quickly. I love it, thank you." Andy sat down at her desk and got out her electronics for work. "Mhh the coffee smells good." She said as she discovered her cup.
"Yes, well, let's just hope it's still hot," Miranda stated as she sat behind her own desk and sipped her mug, returning her focus to her work. Her phone was ringing off the hook. Glancing at the display, she lifted the receiver. "Ahh, Nigel, it's you. Yes, I'm aware, but we simply need to get the layout done with the tools we have now. It's not easy but I am very sure you can manage this...very well. If you need anything let Andrea know and she'll take care of it. Email me the layout ASAP. That's all." Miranda demanded in a soft tone. She was only ever like that with Nigel and her Andrea.
Andy was already having a hard time concentrating due to the sight of the beauty in front of her. The way Miranda moved and talked drove her crazy, in the best and worst possible way. She tried to focus on setting up her workspace while handling her first calls, which was one apparent crisis after another.
"...alright, no! You need to stay home. I'll make sure it is sent via express. It'll be with you this afternoon. Don't worry." Andy continued to attempt to calm down colleagues who hadn't received their electronics or needed other devices to be able to work properly, as soon as possible.
Her whole morning was spent on the phone fixing everything that had gone wrong. When she finally stood and grabbed herself water she waved one at Miranda silently since she was on a video conference call.
Miranda nodded and smiled briefly before realising she was on a zoom call.
Andy made sure she didn't get in the picture but poured the water and grinned at her. It was fun flirting with Miranda when she knew she couldn't really react.
Miranda licked her lips and cleared her throat when Andy went back to her desk.
Suddenly two redheads peaked inside the office and Andy motioned to Miranda that she would take care of it. She put her finger over her lips and smiled to let the girls know their mom was on the phone. Once they were out of the office Andy hugged them both."Hi girls, what do you need?"
"Hey Andy, mom said she'd make lunch for us on our break," Caroline said.
"Yes, and we are starving." Cassidy continued.
"Oh no, we can't have that now, can we?" Andy teased happily with a grin. She led them into the kitchen. "Are you up for my famous turkey sandwiches?" She asked while she looked around the ingredients.
"Yes!" The twins pumped their fists. "Can we get some juice as well?"
"Of course, how about you guys get the juice and the glasses and I'll make us the sandwiches?" Andy suggested.
"Okay, Andy," Caroline said, grabbing the juice.
Cassidy smiled and helped her sister setting up the breakfast bar. "Do you think mom will eat lunch with us?" She asked.
"Yes, she will," Miranda said, surprising them all with her sudden presence in the doorway. She was smiling at the picture before her. "What are we having?" She asked as Cassidy got Miranda a glass of juice as well.
"I am making Turkey sandwiches for everyone. I hope that's okay?" Andy asked.
"Acceptable." Miranda sat next to her girls as Andy served each of them.
"Yummy," Caroline said with her mouth full.
"What's in this it's so good," Cassidy added.
"Oh, that's a big secret. I'm not sure I can tell you." Andy chuckled.
Miranda enjoyed her sandwich, silently watching the lovey scene before her eyes. She adored how her assistant was with her children and how much the girls liked her Andrea.
"Please!" Cassidy begged. "If you don't tell us then you'll have to come over every time we crave it."
"Alright, alright. But you have to promise not to tell anyone else." Andy insisted, acting all secretive.
The twins looked at each other and nodded. "We promise." They declared solemnly.
"I add Italian herbs to the mustard," Andy admitted.
Miranda smirked. "I thought I tasted a little oregano." She announced before turning her attention to the twins. "So how have your classes been?"
"Ugh, it's okay. But I really miss going to school and actually seeing my friends." Caroline said.
"Yeah me too," Cassidy added.
"I know the feeling. I miss going to the office as well. We will get through this though." Miranda reassured. "We have each other." She hugged them to her briefly before they cleared their plates.
Andy was touched to see such an intimate moment between Miranda and her daughters.
"Alright girls, let's get back to work. Andrea, we need to continue as well. I need you to take notes at my next meeting with Patrick and Nigel." Miranda told her.
"Of course." Andy happily agreed as they all went back to their desks.
"Here, you can sit next to me," Miranda said and pulled a chair next to hers so she'd see and hear everything.
Andy swallowed audibly and started sweating a little. This woman would be the death of her at some point, she was sure of it. Working close and in one office was one thing, but now, sitting so close to her, smelling her perfume, that was just overwhelming.
Miranda sensed her discomfort. "Are you okay?" She asked and smirked. She knew full well the effect she had on the younger woman.
"Uh...yes...yes, of course," Andy said, trying to get a grip. She sat down and attempted to focus solely on her notes and the importance of the meeting.
She wondered how she would ever survive working so close to the editor at her house, for God only knows how long, without resisting her acute desire to drag her into her bedroom and do what she ached to do for so long...
