Author's note: Hello again. I'm back and after such a long time away, I'm ready to get started again. This chapter is not going to go well for the protagonists. In case you don't remember, The Hero of Oakvale's name is Komoth for the purposes of this story. I explained why last time and make sure you do remember because this is the last time I'm going to say anything about it. Anyway, back to the fighting. End author's note.

Electricity crackled across his right hand, while his left held a red vial which he quickly emptied down his throat. A vibrant red light burst from every crack in his armor and the wound in his head closed instantly. He stared at them for a few brief seconds before releasing the lightning held in his hand. He aimed at Qrow, Ren, Jaune and Blake who screamed as it tore through their bodies. Nora rushed in as it was happening and tried hit him in the head hard enough to send him flying, and would have if he hadn't rolled out of the way. As he rolled, he saw the other four collapse and decided to redirect the lightning at his new opponent.

She too, began to scream as he electrocuted her, but what he didn't expect was seeing her start to rush him again. Komoth stopped the lightning and charged a fireball as he rolled out of the way. When he came to his feet, the increased amount of red smoke faded and he began to shrink to his original size again. He threw the fireball and hit Nora in the face with it, knocking her down, but she got right back up again and continued charging. This caught him just enough off guard that she was able to hit him and actually send him flying through the air this time. He landed somewhere near Weiss and stood up almost immediately. When he saw Nora coming at him again, he picked up the unconscious girl and held her in front of him, his fingers grasping her neck firmly.

Nora stopped in her tracks. "You coward, hiding behind a hostage. Why don't you drop her and fight me like a man?"

"Just because you call me a coward," Komoth replied, "doesn't make me one. I'm smart, and you're not." At that exact moment Nora felt something lift her from the ground and saw a pillar of blue fire come to strike her from above. She tried to escape but couldn't move. It hit her so hard it overwhelmed what remained of her aura almost instantly, causing it to break and knock her out in the process. Komoth lifted his hands from the ground and stood from his kneeling position, leaving Weiss on the ground. "That was actually rather fun. I look forward to doing it again, but in the mean time, I'm taking this."

He strolled over to where Qrow had thrown himself over Ruby and kicked him off. He knelt down and lifted the young huntress above his head and threw her over his shoulder. When he began to walk away, he felt someone staring at the back of his head. "What do you want, kid." He turned around and found Jaune looking at him angrily.

"Put, her, down," he said in between breaths.

"Why should I?" Komoth replied. "I'm not going to kill her so why should you care? Is she a friend of yours by chance?"

"If you're going to take anyone, take me instead." Komoth saw the determined look on Jaune's face, but didn't really care too much.

"Not an option kid. You don't interest me like she does. After all, how often is it you come across a being with silver eyes? Never where I come from, that's for sure." He raised his hand to block Crocea Mors. "Don't do this kid. The only reason I haven't killed all of you by this point is because I still have a heart, buried in my soul yes, but it's there, and I'm coming real close to ignoring it." He threw Jaune's sword to the side and turned around. "You may have survived this encounter, but never tempt fate. She's one crazy bitch." He started walking away and ignored Jaune from that point forward.

"You think I'm going to just let you walk away from me?" He ran towards Komoth, but was stopped when a shockwave knocked him out.

When Ruby opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was a golden light. "Where am I?" Her head hurt like crazy and she could barely feel her legs.

"Don't talk. You'll end up hurting yourself." She knew that voice. Her eyes widened in terror and her vision cleared, allowing her to see the same figure but cloaked in a light resembling the sun. He brought up his hand and she began to scream. A bright purple light shone from his chest and a sparkly mist of the same color enveloped her. "I'm not going to hurt you, and please don't scream. It'll only draw in the monsters." He sat down in front of her and held his hand up again. This time, a red light came from Ruby, and when it faded, the purple went with it.

"Who are you?" She asked.

"Didn't I tell you not to talk?" She could see his eyes look at her through his helmet. When she looked away, he sighed. "My name is Komoth, and I come from a world called Albion," he stated. He raised his hand again and the red light appeared. This felt different from the smoke that had been coming off him before. This felt warm and comforting. "Now you can talk, but before you do, let me ask questions." A roaring trumpet sounded across the landscape and it was at that moment when Ruby realized they were in a cave.

"One second." Komoth vanished in a blur into the snow and in precisely one second, he returned. "What are those creatures made from darkness?" He removed a book from somewhere inside his armor and opened it, revealing a pencil between the pages, presumably for writing with.

"The monsters are called grimm. They're found all ov-"

"I don't need to know where they're found. That's something I'll figure out over time. I just wanted to know what they were called." He began writing something down and was muttering to himself while doing it. "Grimm: 15,000." Ruby didn't know what he was writing about, but he was distracted, which meant this was the perfect time to- "Don't even think about it." He said as he continued writing. "If you go out there now, you're going to freeze to death before the grimm can get you." Her head bolted back to him. He finished what he was doing with the book in a few more seconds and put it back to wherever he had gotten it from.

"What are you doing here?" Ruby inquired.

"My home was destroyed and I needed a new one. Someone was calling, so I came. I didn't think it would take me to another frozen wasteland though." He looked out into the white emptiness.

"How long was I out for" Ruby asked him.

"A few hours, which is odd considering nobody I've punched has been out for that long before." He looked back at her, and if she was being honest, his eyes freaked her out. "There's something special about you. The eyes are windows to the soul after all." He stood up seemingly out of nowhere. "Stay put. If I find that you've left, you won't like it." He vanished once again into the blizzard.

Author's note: In case anyone's wondering about why his character changed so drastically, I'm going to be using the alignment meter in the Fable game as a reference. I've noticed that while playing the game, the more monster you kill, the more your alignment goes into the positive, and with him having just killed 15,000 grimm it would make sense that the good part of him has come out. That doesn't mean they're out of the woods yet. The dark part of him they fought and lost to is still writhing around inside him somewhere, and since that is the case, there will always be that constant nagging in the back of his mind to spill innocent blood. That's about as much explaining as I'm going to be doing so until next time, goodbye. End author's note.
