Chapter 2; The Inquisitor's Intro To Remnant, Part I
AN: Time to show you all how trash I am at writing action
Cobalt Angelo was a simple man. He couldn't find a job after being convicted of manslaughter, so he stuck to mugging people for cash. He also tended to know his limits, which is why he always stuck up the guys he knew were too weak to put up a fight. So, when a dazed teenager stumbled out of an alley, Cobalt could be forgiven for thinking that this was easy pickings. Then, the teenager turned around and showed his face.
Cobalt had seen a few things, but that face….
Now, with his hands burned by lightning and his legs broken by some kind of telepathy, Cobalt knew how wrong he was.
"P-p-p-please! Lemme go! I won't do anything like this again!" he screamed, desperate to live.
The teenager smirked cruelly, speaking in an unintelligible language, before grabbing Cobalt's head.
The last thing Cobalt remembered was screaming, before everything went dark
Hadrian Kallig breathed deeply. How nice it was, to wake up and be given a fresh victim right out of the blue. Perhaps he should've kept the man alive, made him a new plaything. After all, life without suffering was truly a bore. Hadrian saw his reflection on the knife, and froze. Instead of seeing the features of the 21 year old man, Hadrian was greeted with the sight of a 15 year old child. Fuming at this strange turn of events, Hadrian peeked into the man's wallet, taking a few bits of this world's currency (Lien, his mind supplied. A whole new world, without the Republic of the Empire around, after all). He waved his hand, duplicating it a few times, before stuffing the currency back into the wallet. Hadrian then proceeded to strip his victim of the clothes on his back, before disintegrating the body.
This will not do. A man of my station ought to look the part. Hadrian thought, before he started to transfigure the clothes. The ratty clothes were transformed from their near ruin to a neat, grey three piece pinstripe suit, complete with a tie, gloves, and a pin of the Sith Empire where one would put a rose. The final bit to complete the ensemble was a mask which Hadrian summoned. Holding his hand out, Hadrian materialized a black mask with red pulsing lines flowing throughout, almost like veins, and quickly fastened it. No need to terrify the general populace with his hideous features. With that, Hadrian took a walk around Vale. It was an… interesting place, seeing as how neither the Republic nor the Empire had influenced it in any way. Idly, Hadrian wondered if anyone else from the Empire's Fury had come to this world he had ended up in, and if they hadn't, what would he do next? Consolidate power? It would be laughably easy, considering that he may as well be the only Force user in this world. The most fun that came from murder and mayhem was when there was at least someone to put up a half decent fight.
Suddenly, the Force pulsed. Hadrian turned, seeing a small shop with the label "From Dust Til Dawn"
"Interesting" Hadrian muttered. Perhaps there was something for him to do after all.
Hadrian walked into the shop, and sighed. There was literally nothing of importance here. Just an old man, some girl in a cape, and….
Wait a minute. A girl...in a cape?
That was rather unusual.
Hadrian walked forwards, wondering if this girl was what the Force was pointing him towards. Suddenly, the door burst open, and a ginger haired man with a group of men (most likely criminals) came in. Two men took out their weapons and pointed it at Hadrian, while the ginger haired criminal started talking to the shopkeep. Hadrian smiled. This day just kept getting better and better.
"Gentlemen, while I would loath the opportunity to rid myself of you fine people, I will give you one warning. I am going to count down from ten, and if you do not leave this place when I am done, I will kill each and every one of you."
The criminals in front of him laughed.
"Hey Joe, look at this guy. Thinking he's all threatening with that little mask on."
Hadrian's smile got even wider. "Ten"
"Alright kid, that's enough. Put your hands where I can see them!"
"Nine"
"Are you deaf? Hands in the air!"
"Zero"
And with that, Hadrian released a torrent of black-red lightning on the two goons, their screams renting the air, before disintegrating to ash.
Hadrian dusted off his hands, laughing. "I got bored." he stated, as if he was talking about the weather.
With that, Hadrian noticed that the windows of the shop had been broken, and the girl in the cape unfolded a rather impressive scythe.
Hadrian found himself liking this one.
As the goons rushed towards the girl, Hadrian enhanced his speed with the Force to quickly dash to her location, before stopping one of the goons in his tracks with two fingers to the temple.
"Wha-" the goon exclaimed, before thousands of volts poured into his nervous system, frying it almost instantly. Hadrian turned around and saw the girl that had been the main focus of this evening.
The first thing that immediately stuck out to Hadrian was the girl's eyes. A light silver, filled with innocence and resolve
(He hated them)
The second thing that stuck out to Hadrian was that the little pulse in the Force that had bought him into this store was tied to the girl's presence.
The girl was visibly shaken.
"If you do not wish to be killed by these thugs, then back me up."
The girl was still shaken, but she nodded. Shaking her head, she used her scythe to leap over one of the swings of the thugs, before flipping over and landing a two heeled kick on her attacker. After landing, she fired her scythe and used it's recoil to deliver a brutal swing on one of the thugs, flipping him over several times before he landed on the ground. The girl then swung downwards, the back end brutally crushing the man.
Hadrian shook his head. And this girl was shocked that he was killing them? The way she was going, he guaranteed at least one of the fools was dead by now.
One of the goons took out an SMG and started firing on the girl, before screaming in pain as black-red Force Lightning hit him in the back, killing him within seconds. He dropped unceremoniously on the ground, twitching from the remaining lightning coursing through his system.
The ginger haired criminal was afraid now, there was no doubting it. Against the girl, perhaps he could've stood a chance. A Dark Lord of the Sith?
Not so much.
The ginger haired criminal snarled, before pointing his cane at the duo. Hadrian, realizing what the hole shaped into the cane was, grabbed the girl, shielding her with his body before the criminal fired. Their surroundings exploded in fire, shrapnel from the ground was thrown everywhere.
Fortunately, Hadrian had just enough time to erect a Static Barrier to protect him and the girl. As the dust cleared, Hadrian noticed that the criminal was no longer in front of the store. He turned around, and spotted the criminal hastily climbing a metal ladder. Hadrian growled, before throwing lightning onto the ladder. Unfortunately, the criminal was barely able to make it on time before the ladder coursed with electricity, surely killing anyone that would've been unfortunate enough to climb it.
"You ok if I go after him?" He heard the girl ask the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper nodded, before the girl started to jump after the criminal.
Hadrian snarled. Stupid fucking teenagers, all action and no sense. He'd know. And now, not only was he one, he had to go after one, because the Force seemed to think she was important.
Girl, you better pray that I don't light you up like a Christmas tree when all this is said and done.
Hadrian enhanced his legs with the Force, allowing him to perform a massive jump to get to the rooftop. Once there, he spotted the girl in front of some kind of airship.
"End of the line, Red!" the criminal shouted, before throwing a red crystal at the girl's feet. The girl made no motion to move.
Cursing the girl in his head, Hadrian dashed to the girl and put up another Static Barrier. As the crystal exploded, Hadrian was a bit shocked to find that nothing had hit the barrier this time. He looked up and saw a blonde woman shielding them from the explosion with some kind of magic. Giving a noncommittal grunt at the situation they were in, the woman proceeded to attack the airship with a dozen purple projectiles, each one hitting some part of the ship. Hadrian, not one to miss out on the fun, unleashed his own attack of black-red lightning on the ship. The woman looked a little surprised, before unleashing some kind of small thunderstorm of ice on the airship. Even though the ship's engines appeared to be smoking heavily, it was still airborne, and now, a woman in a red dress stepped out. Hadrian winced. Something about this woman seemed to be familiar, but for the life of him, he couldn't put a finger on it. The woman in the red dress started throwing out her own attacks, gouts of fire and explosions meeting them. Hadrian snarled, before unleashing a beam of concentrated lightning on the airship. The woman in the red dress threw her own fire at it, but Hadrian could tell that her power was just stalling it. The beam inched closer and closer, and the woman seemed to be in extreme concentration, desperate to survive the attack. Out of nowhere, a strong magical presence manifested itself in the red dressed woman, and she was able to disperse the attack like it was nothing. The red dressed woman seemed to be surprised, before collapsing in exhaustion. Hadrian had frozen in shock. He has only seen that kind of power once before.
"Brother, brother, look at what I can do!"
"That's great, little sis! Just don't show mom and dad, alright? Jim would get pretty angry."
"What about Pyrele?"
"You can show Pyrele. She'll love it!"
But that wasn't right! They died! He had seen them both die!
Hadrian fell to his knees. Nothing made sense! What was going on?!
At that moment, Hadrian could detect hostile intent from the blonde woman. She wished to take them both into custody. Hadrian scoffed. Not happening. There was too much happening today, and he needed answers as soon as possible.
And then, almost mocking him, the Force pulsed with the girl.
Again.
Hadrian wanted to tear his hair out. However, with this new revelation that had come from just a few minutes of interaction with the caped girl, he couldn't help but wonder what other mysteries he'd unravel if he stuck with her.
