Starful Redux
Chapter 2: Complete
Two years into Daisuke's disappearance.
Kanao, his mother, looked outside on the rainy day. She had moved away for various reasons, but one was to not think too much about her missing child. It still wasn't enough. Daisuke was still missing and she was only worried about him.
Ayako, Daisuke's father, came over and put his hand on her shoulder. "Come sleep honey, you look too tired."
Kanao blinked, "but he's still gone…"
Ayako rubbed her shoulder, "he will return…"
Kanao stared down. Slowly closing her eyes, imaging it, his return, one day.
And now, it was true.
Daisuke sat on a chair with a plastic poncho on him as Kanao snipped away from his long hair. Now reducing it to where his ears and back of his neck could be seen. His hair has this natural flow where it looks slick back just a bit. Three antennae strands in front of his face.
"How do you look?" Kanao handed Daisuke a mirror.
Once taking the mirror, Daisuke looked at it and around. Smiling, "it looks good mom, thanks."
"Anything for my baby boy," Kanao happily said as she dusted some bits of hair off his poncho. She then removed the poncho as Daisuke got up and stretched. "Gotten taller…"
Daisuke looked over and smiled, "yeah, I thought I was done growing back then, but now look at me. Taller than dad," he spread his arms quickly.
"Sorry," Kanao giggled, "I'm just happy to see you Daisuke-san."
Daisuke nodded, "I'm happy to see you too mom."
Kanao composed herself, "we got some clothes picked out for you. It might be a little short since you're not your dad's exact measurements, but I hope they are good."
Daisuke raised a brow, "long sleeve shirt?' And Kanao nodded as he smiled, "thanks. I won't take too long."
Kanao happily watched as Daisuke entered the bathroom. She walked over to the kitchen, taking a broom and beginning to sweep up the clumps of hair.
Ayako appeared drinking some water, "done with the haircut?"
"Yeah, I'm surprised he didn't want to keep it. It took forever to make him cut his hair back when he was going to middle school."
Ayako chuckled as he put his hand on her shoulder, "how is he to you?"
"Quiet," Kanao sighed, placing her hand on top of his. "Honestly, I should have expected as much. Not like he's a kid babbling about video games."
Ayako nodded in agreement, he then shifted to the side, "we are going to need to tell him…"
"About Miyuki-san, yeah, I know." Kanao looked down, "he really doesn't know. Is there a chance we can keep it from him."
Ayako put his hand around her neck, "even if we could. One look at that little girl and he would know he is the father. My biggest worry right now is Jun-san, more than Miyuki-san."
Kanao bit her lip before sighing, "I don't know… Jun-san finding would definitely lead to Yamato-san finding out."
Ayako raised a brow, "we can try to keep him from meeting his sister."
"Maybe for a couple months, but Jun-san spoke about wanting kids. She will want to see us and thus him."
Ayako tilted his head and looked up, "we could always tell Daisuke-san and tell him no one wants to see him."
Kanao snorted, "that would work, but still… one person finds out he is here and we are done for. Daisuke-san returning… would be worldwide news. And we still live in Odaiba where all his friends still live."
"We could give him plastic surgery…"
Kanao snorted into laughter before kissing her husband's cheek. "I have never felt happier for something that is so drama filled. Daisuke-san could get a bounty on his head by every one of his friends and I'm the happiest person."
"You probably missed him the most."
Kanao shrugged, "all I know… I wasn't the only one that missed him."
Ayako realized, "yeah… I'll get in contact with Jun-san to meet Daisuke-san tomorrow."
But meanwhile in the shower.
Daisuke lathered his neck with soap now only for the shower to instantly drown it down. His hair is something he focused on since he just got a haircut. But he found himself staring up as the water dripped all over his body. I wonder… how is everyone?
He smiled remembering the update his father gave. Daisuke put his head down in peace, I will see all of you… soon.
The alarm rang, a harsh song with the voice of someone who wasn't aware of the tone. Quickly shut down by a tanned hand.
On the bed, Jun laid with morning bags on her eyes. Groaning as her hair was a mess.
"That is the second time you pushed the snooze button," a bright voice. Jun glanced over to see Yamato putting a tie. "Anymore and you may need to cancel the day."
Jun turned to where she was facing up. "My mom invited me to the mall. Should I just bail on her?"
Yamato chuckled, "I don't know. If my mom invited me to the mom, I would go."
Jun smiled with her eyes closed, "free clothes," she giggled a bit. Yamato chuckled a bit before leaning over and giving Jun a kiss.
After the kiss Jun groaned, "Yamato-san, morning kiss leads to morning sex." She sat up, "and you just put on that tie. Next time kiss me before you dress up."
Yamato got up, "then I wouldn't get out of bed. And I like teasing you here and there." Jun smirked as he exited the room, "going to go get coffee and then I'm off."
"Gotcha!" Jun saluted before jumping out of bed. Only wearing some panties and a long t-shirt.
She walked into the bathroom. Clear as it could be and bright all over. Even after Yamato showered, not a mess around. She went to get a toothbrush and spotted pictures of her and him. Both smiling as they once went to a festival.
She happily smiled before taking some toothpaste on her brush and beginning to brush her teeth.
She sang as the door behind her creaked. "Don't kiss me in the neck or we are going to have sex in the shower."
Yamato wrapped his arm around Jun, "I know, but one day I will and we will have the best shower sex." Jun giggled before getting a cup and filling it with water. Yamato fixed some parts of her hair, "I was thinking… we haven't been on a date in a while."
Jun rinsed her mouth and spit it out, "Yamato Ishida… the day after I said to Annia 'I want to have children'. You're pulling this… playing a dangerous game."
Yamato snickered, "going to do this to me huh? Going to spoil my grand plans of having children."
Jun looked over, "I never said I didn't want it. Just… it's a dangerous game you're playing."
Yamato kissed her lips, "well, consider it a game… I mean date."
"Maybe going to the mall isn't a bad idea…"
"A nice dress huh?"
"Lingerie dummy," Jun and Yamato giggled before kissing once again. Jun looked at the little clock in the corner as she broke the kiss. "Now go to work, don't be late this time."
Yamato gave a final cheek kiss, "I promise to be home as soon as I can." And he was heading out the door, "see you later, babe."
Jun waved before turning to the mirror. "Greatest day of my life," she snickered before whipping her top off. Sliding off her panties and getting the shower ready. "Greatest day of my life so far!" She kept hyping up.
And her excitement continued while driving. Humming the beat to the song currently playing as she sang, "I will have so much fun!" She giggled a bit before turning the street to see the house of her parents in the distance. She turned down the radio before finally parking the car.
"Dad isn't home… cause he's working…" she still sang around as if the song was playing once turning off the engine. "So it's going to be me and mom all morning long…" she continued her singing.
She spun the key around her hand and headed to the door. Finally, stopping and ringing the doorbell.
There was a pause as Jun moved her head back and forth.
The door unlocked and the knob turned. Jun prepping to say hello to her mother in a happy way. And when the door opened, she was met with a raspberry haired young adult with medium spiky hair and tan skin. That look a lot like, "oh, Daisuke-san."
And her eyes rolled to the back of her head quickly as her body became limp. She passed out.
And her mind went black too. Only flashes of that day, the last day she saw him, her brother. He quickly waved before he went out the door. That was it, the final moments they had before he disappeared. And since that day, her life changed. Flashes of her harsh break up with Yamato to the moment they got back in a heat of passion. All of this because Daisuke went missing.
"Daisuke-san."
"I'm here," Daisuke replied as Jun opened her eyes. Looking over at Daisuke who sat on a chair. Their mother beside him as she put a towel on Jun's head.
"Daisuke-san, it can't be…"
Kanao giggled, "so dramatic… fainting and being in denial." Jun stared at Daisuke, "I fainted too when I saw him. Didn't mean for you to see him so abruptly. I was going to ease you in, but I was showering."
"Sorry, Jun-san," Daisuke bowed, "I didn't mean to freak you out."
Jun blinked, "when did you return? You were gone for so long…"
Daisuke nodded sadly, "I know. I returned just yesterday and I'm sorry Jun-san. For being gone… for everything."
Jun looked at the ceiling, "you're back and the world isn't on fire. How can that be? How is that possible? I imagined your return so many times… that I never imagined this… you… being back, just back… I thought you would return with an army of cool monsters trying to protect the world. Something, but this… loser."
Daisuke got a light smile, "I always was a loser, huh?"
Jun looked over at Daisuke, "the audacity of you to return without setting this dumb town on fire… dumb idiot…" Jun's eyes swelled, Daisuke's muddy brown eyes could only stare happily. "You're back…" and she sprung to hug him. He flinched before accepting the hug.
Not letting go and keeping the tight grip, she sobbed on his shoulder.
Daisuke allowed her to sob, only interjecting to make sure she wasn't passed out. "I'm sorry for being gone and for you being hurt…"
"Don't be sorry… I missed you so much." She finally broke the hug, but held onto his shoulder. Staring at him in the eye, "I always was missing something. Even when I married Yamato-san. I was missing something and now… it's complete. You're back, you dummy. And this family…" Jun broke into light sobs, "it's complete."
The chilly cloudy skies traveled through the skies as Hikari Yagami watched.
She had changed very much since the past 5 years. Her figure going from a young teen to showing more curves. Her hair now down to her shoulder. 'She is now a woman' Hikari's mother once said about her. And although Hikari cannot agree due to her age, she accepted for one reason.
She heard a light bell ring and stood up straight. Holding her purse with both her hands.
From her elementary school out came Miyuki Motomiya. Yes, Motomiya.
When Hikari gave birth to Miyuki, she named her Motomiya. She didn't know why, she had given up on Daisuke returning at that time, but something in her wanted her daughter to have that surname.
"Mommy!" Miyuki happily jumped up while running towards her mom.
Hikari smiled softly before kneeling down to slightly match her daughter's height. Miyuki jumped onto her arm, smiling and giggling. "How was your day, honey?" Hikari smiled, the hug broke and both held hands as they began to walk out the entrance.
"It was good, I took a nap and had a dream about flying!"
Hikari giggled, "so fascinating. What were you flying over?"
Miyuki jumped up, "the world mommy, I felt like I could see our apartment from where I was flying," she laughed.
Miyuki Motomiya. Hikari's happiness, her pride and joy, the only reason Hikari didn't spiral into a pit of depression.
Hikari would never complain about her daughter. She was perfect. A loving child with an excited attitude, but it was something else. It was the fact that this girl was too much like her father at a young age. Excited for everything. Runs a lot around. Her raspberry hair and his wide smile. Although her facial features resemble more of Hikari when she was younger, everything else screams Daisuke. And Hikari can't help to always think of him when she sees her daughter, every single time.
And recently…
"Mommy," Miyuki pouted, "one boy in class told me his daddy was the strongest person."
Miyuki is starting to question her father.
Hikari dreaded, but knew this day would come. Cutting off anything of her father once Miyuki learned to speak. But it was boiling up little by little. Hikari tried going on dates with other men hoping they would become a father figure, but those dates would never work out. Ever.
Miyuki looked over, "where's my daddy?"
Hikari stopped and looked down. Should I just get it over with and tell her that her father knocked me up and left. No… she's only four… Hikari knelt, "Miyuki-san," she touched her daughter's cheek, "your daddy is somewhere right now where I don't even know, but he will come."
Miyuki looked down, "you said that last week too… Mommy, do I have a daddy?"
"Every good little girl has a daddy. Just some take some time to show up."
Hikari noticed it. Miyuki slight disappointment. It's hard for her to grow up without an answer and see other children have parents. "The other classmates… They want to see my daddy. They want to see my cool dad!"
Hikari smiled, "of course they do, and I promise you will meet him soon."
Miyuki glanced up, "how is he like?"
Hikari looked to the side, "he's nice and he's caring…" a slight frown came over her face remembering the times he wasn't there. "You will see him one day." She was determined to get rid of Daisuke's influence in her life and now more than ever.
Hikari got up, "now come on, we have some dinner to make. I bought your favorite nuggets. The crispy once shaped like flowers."
Miyuki brightened up, "let's go!"
Hikari happily watched as Miyuki ran forward. Seeing how Daisuke used to run ahead. I don't miss him… I don't need him. He's gone. Forever. Never coming back. I don't care about him. He's dead to me. He died a long time ago. Get that in your head, Hikari.
"Miyuki-san, not so fast," Hikari said to get her daughter's attention.
Hikari knew Miyuki's life would be incomplete without her father. And she needs to find one soon.
The steam coming from the grills filled the air for a bit. "Three burgers coming right up!"
"Make that four with less pickles," Jun said to the cook.
"You got that young lady," the cook said putting another piece of meat on the grill.
"Daisuke-san, you feel cold?" Miyako questioned seeing her brother looking at some birds in peace.
He turned over. He was still only wearing his long sleeve black shirt, jeans and sandals. "I'm not cold, but thank you for asking."
Jun raised a brow, "the little brother I knew wouldn't thank me for asking."
Daisuke blinked, "I didn't back then… sorry," he looked down.
Jun took a sip of her drink, "you have grown in many ways little brother. Now completely taller than me and you talk like a nice adult."
Daisuke blushed a bit, "It's nothing. It's just how I am."
Jun smirked, "not how you were."
"Enough, Jun-san," Kanao, their mother, returned as she sat down beside Jun. "I don't want you messing with your brother."
"Come on, mom." Jun giggled as she put hands on Daisuke's shoulder, he flinched a bit before calming. "Aren't you weirded out by Daisuke-san new found properness."
"He's an adult and acting like one. I expected no different from you, especially since you're married."
Jun blushed, "marriage doesn't mean that I need to be uncool."
Kanao frowned, "being pushy towards your brother is uncool…"
The burgers were handed out except for the extra Jun just ordered. Each Motomiya said, "thank you." Before Daisuke ended with "very much."
Jun glanced over seeing Daisuke slowly chewing in the burger. "You look like you haven't eaten in a while. The old you would have been scarfing the burger down like no tomorrow. Eat… I ordered the extra burger for you."
Daisuke looked over surprised.
Kanao joined in, "your sister is right. You look a bit boney, we are going to get you back into proper shape by end of this week." She joked as the two female Motomiya laughed.
"But really, eat up."
Daisuke smiled softly, "thank you," he nodded and ate slightly faster.
Jun couldn't help to smile to see her brother happily eating a burger. Just like old times. She felt her phone vibrate as she pulled it out. The texts reading.
Honey, I might be a bit late today than I thought. Is that alright? - Jun
No problem. Did something happen - Yamato
Jun hummed seeing that response. Looking over at Daisuke chatting with their mother on how the burger taste better than he remembered it.
Jun text back
I am just having a good time with my mom shopping. See you tonight anyways.
And with a heart icon, she returned to eating her burger. Smiling, happy that Daisuke is around for the first time ever.
