[ Luffy's pov ]

As I reach Gramps I come out of the water feeling like a powerhouse. "Hey! Gramps."

Smiling and crossing his arms. "So you finally know do you?" Watching me nod he continued. "Well don't expect any special treatment. If you are going to be a pirate I guess I better make sure that you are tough enough to survive. Otherwise you would be a disgrace to both your family trees." Turning and walking into the jungle. "I am taking you to a special orphanage, but first we are going to rough it while I train you for a while."

As my eyes go wide. ( gulp ) I know what Gramps training is like. Having experienced it in the past.

[ Time skip ]

As we find a small clearing with a nearby stream high in the mountains.

I also noticed his stough by a tree and three buckets. Placing my stough down Gramps told me the rules. While we are training you won't go in the streem except for a bath got it." Seeing me pout he smiled. "I know even fresh water increases your strength. If I am going to make your base strength stronger you can't cheat." With me nodding he continues. "Shanks will not be pleased if he comes back to find a week boy still here." As I am about to complain he stopped me. "I am not talking about your devil fruit or your mothers gift. You can't always rely on them. I can put a collar on your neck right now that if you change spikes shot into your neck, and with no water around what then." As my eyes bug out he starts laughing. " I wouldn't but there are people who would. Now that you are paying attention. I will lay out your training routine while I am here. First we wake up and will do 25 push-ups, situps, and squats. Then you go for a 5 mile run. Finishing here for training with me. After lunch we are going to do meditation for an hour then work on your devil fruit control, stamina and strength on land till supper. After supper we are going to work on your aerial control. Sleep and start all over again." ( gulp )

As I am exhausted from the workout Gramps gave me I realized he has been going easy on me before. And it is only nine thirty. "Can't we take a break, Gramps I can barely stand now?" As he walked over to one of the three buckets of water he filled earlier he walked back and threw it on me. Instantly feeling better and having my energy return.

I see Gramps with a wicked smile. "Refreshed? Time for more."

As I looked over at the other two buckets. ( Gulp ) 'I am so dead.'

After meditation Gramps asked me to change. I started to have trouble then remember what Shanks said. Allowing myself to get mad it happened more easily. Garp was impressed then he started to train me. And I thought his workout in my human form was tough. Luckily he refilled the buckets.

After supper he told me to fly high fly to either nightfall or I am about to pass out. This will build up my wing muscles. Also explore how my body works with my senses.

While I am up here high enough to look like a big bird I see everything. Apparently my eyes are extremely sharp. It almost feels like that if I am concentrating on something near the ground it appears as if I am right up on it. My guess is that I can easily make out a person clearly a mile and a half away. My smell also increased, a great deal actually when I passed the city of Goa the trash heap beside it is huge. Making me want to barf. Hearing has also increased when I was on land. I can not only hear the slightest sound but also a sense of its direction. I need to ask Gramps about making my nighttime meditation while I am transformed. Flying around the island I see a boy sitting on a rock by a cliff overlooking the ocean. Looking closely I remembered his appearance. Maybe I can get to know him after all. He is a little older than me but not by much.

When I landed Gramps bombarded me with questions. I tell him what I found out and he likes the idea of changing my nighttime meditation to being transformed. I also tell him I see just as good at night as during the day.

As we go to sleep Gramps tells me. "Good thing about your ability to see and manage at night. Tomorrow night we begin night training."

( gulp )

A week later

As Garp leads me to a big house high in the mountains sporting a flag with two swords through three little mountains. Garp tells me. "Now be good for Curly Dadan. Ok? I don't want to hear anything bad. This is going to be your home for two years by the way." As I looked down, Gramps bangs on the door.

"Ok give me a minute." As a big woman opened the door she looked down at us. "What do you want?!" Then after recognizing Garp she backs up a step. "Um I am sorry I didn't realize it was you. What can I do for you, Garp?"

Gramps steps aside and gestures to me. "My grandson needs a place to stay for a couple of years till he goes to sea. I will give you 5,000 beli a month for food along with him being a good hunter." Smiling at me he adds. "He might even give Ace a run for his money on bringing in some meat. "

"What? You are kidding old man, nobody around here beats me in gathering food." A voice called out from the jungle. Then the first boy I saw on the cliff comes out. "Where do you get off saying he may be better?"

Gramps laughing hard answers. "He is a natural hunter Ace." Also Looking at me. "He might become the top cat around here." As I rolled my eyes at that comment.

Ace huffed. "Well how about a competition to see. The biggest catch for lunch. " Smiling, Ace grabbed a metal pipe and left.

"Gramps what have you gotten me into."

Gramps laughing now said. "If you don't show him strength he will look down on you it's who he is."

[ time skip ]

As my strength has left me from the stream I don't want to drag my catch the last mile so I run to the camp to get help. When I get there I ask. "Can I get help carrying my catch?"

As Smiling at me as his boar that is 7 ft long 3 ft wide already on the rost. "Aw is the little boy to ashamed of his catch?" Hearing every one laugh.

Glad Gramps has worked on my temper. Running back into the brush I hear them laugh some more. When I know I am out of sight I change. I have got to work on my half form. It would be so helpful right now. I fly past my catch all the way to the stream. The other alligators give me a wide berth now. I dip into the stream and supercharge myself then take off back to my catch. I know I only have 5 or so minutes till my strength wears off. Changing back I grabbed the crock threw it on my shoulder and started jogging back to Dadan's house. When I am almost there my strength is almost gone. Dragging it the last 100 ft. When I just started to clear the bushes I hear a voice.

"Did the little baby come back empty handed? " Ace comments.

As Ace was laughing hard. I drag my 15 ft long 4 ft thick alligator into the clearing . As I do Ace falls on his but and the others jump back.

Ace stammered. "W-W-what. H-how?"

"I caused a landslide in the river that killed it." Smiling at him. 'Yea after I punched him into the wall the landslide it caused crushed it.' "So can I have some of your boar while mine is cooking? I promise you can have some gator meat." Watching Ace huffed and walked off.

After dinner I leave to take a swim. As I go to the water under where I saw Ace before I examined the water. Memorizing the rock locations I see I can find a good place to dive but others won't. Thinking about it I decided to change that. Figuring what rock formations needed to be removed was easy now to test how strong seawater makes me. As I started to punch the formations I find that this is really easy. As I realize in the ocean I am extremely strong probably equal to Gramps. On human form I can only imagine how strong in my beast form. With a dive place cleared I stick my head out the water to make sure I know where. Even if I did hit something I knew the ocean will heal me so no problem. Coming out of the water on the shore. I walked through the jungle to the cliff. There I see the two boys talking. Ace tells the other one he can't believe I showed him up, and where do I get off.

Walking out of the woods I ask him. "Hey it wasn't my idea Gramps started it. Where do you get off blaming me for it? Also if you want to see how tough we are, how about we jump?"

The other kid spoke up. "Are You Crazy?! There are rocks down there their is no clear place to jump."

Walking up to the edge I look over easily finding the clear spot I made. "It is right there." Pointing at the spot. As they come over to look I continue. " there is a 10 ft radius of safety right off of here." Jumping in the dead center. As I dive in I realized I have lost all fear of the ocean. I feel at home and safe, and strong. Also I hear Ace scream my name. When I poke my head out of the water I see them staring at me. "Come on in the water is fine." As they shake their head no I yell up. "Ok . I will be right up." Disappearing under water I changed then propelled myself up. With my back to the cliff I crest the ridge then do a tight roll backwards landing on my feet near the jungle. As I see them on the ground looking at me I squint my eyes at them. They scurry back to the edge then they look at me then each other. Standing up slowly never taking their eyes off of me then their heart rate increases. I lose it busting out laughing and rolling onto my back. I know it doesn't come out as laughing because I haven't gotten used to the new vocal cords. As they look at me confused like I am crazy I change back still laughing. "You should see the look on your faces. Shishishi. I thought you two were about to jump till I saw you tighten your grip on that staff."

Ace glaring at me yelled. "So that is how you beat me you changed into that thing?!"

Standing up straight I walked up to him. "No I used water not my devil fruit." As I see him tightly grip the pole I tell him. "I wouldn't do that if I was you I just came out of the ocean."

Smiling Ace said. "I am quicker than you can change." Swinging the pole down towards my head.

Grabbing the pole with ease I shove it straight into his chest with the end he was holding. As he let go and clutched his chest I held the pipe in both hands and bent it into a horseshoe. Then drop it at his feet. "Wait five more minutes and then you can beat me, but never attack a descendent of Poseidon that is fresh from the Sea!" Smiling, I hope I didn't go too far. "Look, I want to get stronger in my base form without the ocean or my devil fruit helping me to do it. Grandpa isn't around to train me, and I really don't think any others in Dadan's camp really are capable of training me so. Can we be friends?"

[ time skip ]

[ just outside Cocoyashi village ]

[ Luffy's POV]

"Why again do I have to come here? A week before my birthday, It's not fair." Crossing my arms over my chest.

Garp side "look Luffy a world noble is coming to Goa in two weeks. The official statement for the visit is to inspect the kingdom. The real reason is to kill the big bird in the mountains. Namely you. He is not leaving for two months. How will you, your mother and Shanks meet up huh?"

"Yes but on my birthday I won't get to see Ace or Sabo." Still pouting.

Garp sank his shoulders. "It was the only time I could arrange it inconspicuously. Now I want you to be good for Belle-mère. She was a proud marine sniper till she got injured in a battle. She also found two orphans in the battle and decided to raise them."

"And why do you think she will let me stay?"

Garp laughed. "Because I helped her get her adoption passed seeing as she was so young and a single parent. I wanted to help her out, and I plan on paying her times have been tough lately because of an overwhelming number of the tangerines in the market. I plan on making an offer overwhelmingly generous." As we came up to a house on the edge of a tanjareen field I saw a young lady about 26 coming out of the tangerine field with a full basket. She was a relatively slim woman with long fuchsia hair tied in a ponytail, grey eyes, and a rather unique hairstyle similar to a mohawk known as a chelsea hawk. She wore a green checkered shirt with the word "MACE" on it, indigo trousers and brown sandals and a cigarette.

The woman put her hand on her hip and said. "Ok Garp. What do you want?"

Garp looks hurt. "Want? What makes you think that Belle-mère? " As she put the basket down and crossed her arms. "Ok you caught me. I need to have a place for my grandson to stay for a few weeks. That's all and I will even pay you 500,000 for a few weeks."

Rolling her eyes Belle-mère asked. "What did he do or who is after him? Their is no way you would offer that much otherwise."

Garp faked another hurt impression. "What can't I try to help out my best sniper?"

As she glared at him. "In case you forgot I left the marines so I don't take orders. Also you know I have daughters now so if it endangers them. No deal. So spill!"

Garp threw up his hands. "Ok you win there are two reasons. The most important is his mother is a princess from a far-off land. And she is coming to see him in three weeks, but a world noble is coming in two weeks and staying two months in Goa. So he can't stay there."

Belle-mère looking sad. "Awww. That's sweet but tricky. I want double."

Garp "What?"

Belle-mère Smiling now. "Look if it wasn't important you wouldn't come here, and I have two daughters. Times are tough I need to think of them." As Garp nodded he smiled. 'Oh oh what did I miss. Wait he had two reasons.' "What Is The second reason? " Glaring at Garp.

Garp laughing. "During his mother's visit Red Haired Shanks will come and pick up the boy."

Belle-mère storming up to him putting her finger on Garp's chest. "I knew you agreed to easily. You handing him off to Shanks! That is major. Why didn't you list it first?"

Garp got a serious look. "Because that really and I mean really is minor compared to his mom."

As Belle-mère takes a step back she gets worried. "Now I really do wish I had asked for more."

[ time skip ]

[ Luffy's POV]

As I'm running through the town and up the road before the sunrise I see Nami following me. It has been two days and I just try to do my workouts. Gramps has increased them over the years to 150 sit-ups, push-ups, squats, and now 50 pull-ups. Then a 15 mile run, before beast mode for 2 and a half hours. After that 2 and a half hours of swimming, then lunch. Nami is keeping up with me man can she run. After the run I asked her. "Where did you learn to run like that?"

Nami responded. "I don't know. I always run like that. Nobody on the island can keep up with me. Except maybe you." As I gave her pause she continued. "Can I train with you? I hate to run alone." Watching her look down.

'Man this is going to cut into my beast form. However I have missed someone to train with without Ace and Sabo.' Smiling back. "Yea sounds great.

[ time skip ]

[ Luffy's POV]

It has been 5 days since I agreed to running with Nami. I have snuck out a few times at night but I miss my daytime flights. Watching her stop and talk to Nojiko I started running faster. I get ahead of Nami finding a clearing I change fast and take into the air. While in the air I feel free, like nothing can touch me after all on my birthday I deserve it. After a long time I landed in the same clearing. What I didn't expect was to see Nami start screaming and running through the jungle away from me. Flying fast I grabbed her and flew into the sky. There I found a place away from the town at a stream near her house and set her down. "Wait Nami I mean you no harm, honestly. Please stop yelling it hurts my ears."

As she stopped and looked at me very confused. "How do you know my name?"

"I know my voice doesn't sound the same but it's me Luffy."

As she looked confused I walked up to her. Then we hear some people running up to us. I hear a gun cock. Working on instinct I jump in front of Nami. ( BAM )

"Get away from her!" Belle-mère cried, still pointing the gun at me and reloading. And Nojiko right beside her.

"Ow jeez I am sorry I didn't mean to scare you I just didn't want the whole town to hear her scream so I took her here." As I said that the two new girls' eyes go wide.

Belle-mère counted. "Scare us! You were stalking her."

Rolling my eyes. "That wasn't stalking." Jumping back I crouched down low raised my hips in the air a few times wagging my tail then jumped at Nami landing just in front of her. ( BAM )

"Mom!!" Nojiko and Nami yell in unison.

"Again really. I was just showing what stalking really is." Changing back I see her lower the gun. As the blood is staining my shirt I take it off. It hurts a little on the right side but hay nothing new. When I take my shirt off I hear gasps. I don't know if it is because of my Six Pack abs, my developing muscle, or the bullet holes in my right side and upper right arm. Belle-mère drops to her knees in tears with a hand over her mouth. "Don't worry I have gotten used to it. This isn't the first time."

As Belle-mère looked worse said. "Not the first time?"

"Yea when I first changed a group of bandits." Stopping there I glance casually at Nojiko and Nami, then staining directly at Belle-mère. "Wanted to hurt a woman I considered a mother in a certain way." Looking eyes with Belle-mère her eyes go wide at my implications. "I changed and was attacked by the whole group. Also some hunters have gotten lucky over the two years since then."

Belle-mère still on her knees asked. "So this is why Garp wants you hidden?"

Smiling I say. "Not mainly." Walking into the water I hear Belle-mère protest about the water making me weak. When I am knee deep I turn and let them see my shoulder. As two balls fall out and the wounds the wounds closed I hear all three gasp. "My mother is Hazel God of hurricanes and daughter of Poseidon God of all the seas from their world. As Belle-mère gets more worried as to who my mother is and having just shot me. Nami and Nojiko have stars in their eyes. "I am what they call a demigod half human half god. Garp and my mother don't want the world government getting their hands on me."

Belle-mère in a shaky voice. "A-and Y-You're mother is coming in a few weeks?" As Nojiko and Nami get worried about their mom and what she has just done.

"Don't worry I won't tell her anything. Besides you were just protecting Nami. I am sure my mom would do the same in your place." Watching all three relax.

When we got back Belle-mère stopped outside the house. "Nami get a clean shirt for Luffy please." When Nami returns we all enter and upon entering that all sing happy birthday to me. As tears are in my eyes they all give me a hug and Nami gives me a kiss on the cheek that everyone thinks is cute.

As we get ready for bed Belle-mère comes up to me. "I am sorry for shooting you. If you ever want to talk about what has happened to you let me know. I will always listen." Ruffling my hair she leaves.

[ time skip ]

[ Luffy's POV]

Two days later Nami catches me before I go swimming. And asked "I sure wish I could go with you Luffy. I bet it is beautiful down there. " With her pouting.

Looking at her I remember what Makino told me. "There is a way for me to transfer some mobility, the ability to breathe, and to communicate like sea creatures underwater." Blushing red.

Nami with a big smile. "Pppplease. I want to see the water like you."

"My step mom that raised me because mom had to go back home told me after I found out what I was my mom transferred those powers to her for an hour with a kiss." As I started blushing harder.

Nami Turning red asked. "On the cheek or lips? "

"Sorry on the lips. I don't know if there is a way to do it otherwise. I will understand if you said no."

Nami looked shy. "I will. I just wanted to make sure." As we kissed she smiled after. "Did it work?"

As we entered the water I thought of her. "Can you hear me?"

With a surprised face I feel her thinking back. "Yes. Can I breathe now?" As I nod she tried. "Wow this is amazing."

As she is trying to swim with her arms I laugh. Watching her pouting I stopped. Just watching you brings back memories of when I first learned. "It is more like funneling the water around you as a means of propelling you through the water. Like this." Moving left then right sideways, then I streamlined myself with my arms by my side and torpedoed straight 20 feet stopped and turned. Watching her repeat the process.

As time went on we explored the coast. Avoiding netting and even exploring a few of the sunken ships. I found I could tell when I touched her how much time we had left. As the time went on Nami wanted the kisses to last longer. Nami said she wanted to see if it would make the time last longer too. We were exhausted when we came back for supper. I figured it was from sharing my power. Which I hadn't tried to do before today.

At supper Nami wouldn't stop talking about her experience. The feeling and freedom. All through dinner it was captivating for the others that was until Belle-mère asked. "So how did Luffy share this gift with you Nami? I mean the power that is." Nami choked on her drink. You could hear a pin drop.

Nami cleared her throat and looked at me. "Luffy we forgot our daily run we better get it in before bedtime." Darting out the door.

I smile at Belle-mère as she turns to me. "Coming." Jumping out of my seat and bolting out the door.

Belle-mère screams. "Come back here!" as her and Nojiko run to the door. 'Dammit. No one is faster than those two. With his training and her natural gift. Ok, I want to play hard ball.' Smiling and turns to Nojiko. "Did you see that face?"

Nojiko laughed. "You mean the, I got my hand caught in the cookie jar face?"

Smiling back Belle-mère answers. "I don't think he did something bad, just embarrassing I hope. After all he is a good boy, but I would hate to shoot him again on pretense. So find out before I get too nervous."
