Sitting in front of her mirror looking at her reflection for the last time, Kai gave herself a nod. She still couldn't believe that it had been a weak since she and the prince started dating.

She could still picture the face of Hilary, her personal maid, when she came bursting into her room reading the paper.

Flashback—

"You are the talk of the town Miss" Hilary came running to her room.

Kai put the brush down and took the paper from Hilary's hand. A paper that have all the gossip for the mama's written by Lady Middleton.

Her opinion is the only thing that mattered. If they had fooled her then the whole town will take her word for it. Opening the paper she read-

For those who missed the royal ball, you missed the most remarkable coup of the season. It appears that our duchess, our diamond of the season Duchess Kai Hiwatari has captured the interest of the newly returned crown prince.

How our duchess was able to do was still unsure but two could be seen with each other for the entire ball together after our crown prince was announced.

"She thinks I am the diamond of the season?" Kai asked.

"Isn't it wonderful. You are the diamond Kai" Hilary said still excited.

"But she never called anyone a diamond" Kai said.

"Oh stop it. Now let me fix those hair" Hilary said picking the hair brush up.

End of flashback—

The prince had been nothing but polite to her and she will not deny that she might have a tiny crush on him.

But even Hiro cannot change her mood today. She to attend the ball held by Lord Willis, Maria's father. She had fought with Voltaire about this ball and had gotten back slapped for it. So now she had to hide her bruise with make up.

"Prince is here miss" Hilary said.

Kai nodded and stood up to reveal her pink ball gown with embodied flower.

Walking in the hall with prince by her side she was greeted by a grinning Maria.

"Ah duchess its so nice of you to come. You as well prince" Maria said.

"Well thank you for inviting us Miss Willis" Hiro said.

"Oh, please prince. The pleasure is all ours that you could join us" Lady Willis said coming ut of no where.

"Well I had keep all the other suitors away from my diamond" Hiro said making Kai blush.

"Why don't you let prince and duchess inside" Lord Willis said seeing his wife and daughter trying to hold a conversation at the entry only.

Kai smiled at the old man. He had always been nice to her and treated her as her own daughter.

"Walking around the room Kai could make out some of the faces.

Vicountess Mariah was talking to her group.

"Those are the girls you need to be away from" Kai said pointing to towards the group.

"Why is that?" Hiro asked.

"Vicountess Mariah will do anything to get the man she lays her eyes on, Miss Mariam is just as bad as her, Marquis Emily thinks everyone is below her and Lady Julia do not talk to anyone unless it is in her favour and believe me once they see you it will be hard to get rid of them" Kai said pointing to every girl as she told Hiro about them.

Just as she finished talking she saw the mentioned girls walking towards them. "And here they come" Kai said with a fake smile on her face.

"It is a pleasure for us to finally meet you prince. We would have been in the royal ball but we were out of town" Mariah said curtsying.

"Well I was there but you were too occupied with you partner" Mariam said shooting a glare at Kai's direction which she returned.

"Well I have to say this but I remember it to be the ball of Willis's so why are you dressed up so much duchess" Emiy said eying Kai up and down.

"Well I sorry to burst it to you but unlike you I care how I represent my family Marquis Emily" Kai said which mad Hiro chuckle.

"Well at least we didn't learn martial arts. I mean why do yu need to learn to protect yourself. Who do you think is going to attack you" Julia said coming to the defence of her friend.

"Duchess can I borrow you for a minute if you don't mind prince" Tala said seeing the murderous look on his friends face.

"Of course not. Go ahead" Hiro said smiling gently.

"Why do you even bother to talk to them?" Tala said once they were out of hearing reach.

"Well I can't just let them insult me" Kai said.

"Anyway so I started courting Claude and I have no idea what to do" Tala said changing the subject.

"Well, give her flowers every time you meet her and be a gentleman. Ask her about her interest and take her to her at picnics and accompany her to every ball you go for now" Kai said.

"That's it?" Tala said.

"I said for now. Once she is comfortable with you pen up to her more" Kai said. "Now I am going to save our prince before those horrid ladies scare him away" She said turning around and walking to where she left the group.

"Well if you lot are done tormenting the prince, I would like him back" Kai said which was ignored by every girl.

"Excuse me but now I would like to dance with my partner" Hiro said leading Kai to the dance floor and started ranting about the girls to her in a hushed tone making Kai laugh.

The other people around the ball room looked at the ppair with different emotions. Some adults looked at them smiling. The other mama's looked with hate as it was not their daughter with the prince. The girls looked at them jealous at their friendly nature towards each other and some happy to see the most loved girl of the town so happy.
