Chapter 2 - Effie Trinket's diary entry - Day 1 (Late Evening - Reaping)
Dear Diary,
Today I can finally go back to the Capitol. Thank goodness, the reaping doesn't take longer than a day or I'd probably be covered in coal dust and my ears tainted from the language of these people by the time I can get back. On another note, maybe my ears would still be tainted after going back to the Capitol. Honestly, I should just apply for Haymitch to be taught some manners 'cause at this rate district 12 is not getting any other victor to replace him anytime soon. Ah my lovely shoes, they almost got spoiled because of his vomit, and my wig from earlier today… if only someone could get him banned from drinking!
Anyways, I am still glad that I got two cuties this year. They not only are not a bag of bones but also know how to eat.. I almost lost my appetite sharing tables with the tributes last year. But this year I have a pair of good looking kids, even their names start from the same letters. Ah, I am excited about the Games this year. If Haymitch were to sober up and advertise them a bit at least one will have sponsors throwing money at them.
If only, those two rebels did cause trouble on the day of the reaping. Then given these two children's looks, there might not even be a need for worrying about sponsorship. Ah, it is going to be hard on them during the Games coming from the same district as rebels. But still, it would be exciting, after all, it has been a while since we had a new Avox serving, it would be great to not be surrounded by those snobbish girls gossiping in the breakrooms.
Good lord, it is late! Oh no, I need my beauty sleep for the camera's tomorrow. I should have a lot more free time after I reach the Capitol, I'll write more then.
