The next day, Jude was serving customers over at Stick It. Last year, Stick It was closed due to several health violations, but one day he saw all of the health hazard signs and out of business signs gone so he reopened it. Luckily everyone else seemed to have forgotten about it, and he kept it relatively cleaner so it worked out, though in his free time, if he needed extra cash, he'd still ride the Zamboni around since he loved to drive that. But anyway, the line was so long it was about half the length of the distance from Stick It and The Big Squeeze (a.k.a. The Lemon). As Jude was serving a customer he saw a tall skinny figure walk towards him - it was Jonesy. "Duuuude." Jude held out his spare hand for a fist bump. "Jude!" Jonesy reciprocated the fist bump, completing their signature greeting amongst each other. "Whatcha doing here, bro? Did ya get fired again?" Jude asked. "Yeah. Turns out my first shift was yesterday and not today." Jonesy shrugged. This happened so often he was more or less indifferent to it, unless it was a job that involved hot girls, his favorite thing in the world. "Bummer, dude." Jude said, not breaking eye contact with his customers as he served them. He was surprisingly good at multitasking. "Eh, Hot Topic isn't really my thing anyway. It's mostly a punk and skater oriented place. Actually, you and Nikki would fit right in." Jonesy said. "Cool." Jude said. Although the laid back skater was more or less acting like his old self, Jonesy could tell something was going on with him. "So, what's on your mind, man? Is something wrong?" he asked. Jude sighed. "Yeah. It seems like Jen and I haven't had much time together lately, between school and work. Actually, between you and me, I've been dying to ask her to the Spring Fling next month but I haven't really been able to. I'm just hoping I can before it's too late." he admitted. Jonesy understood. He liked to give Jude and Wyatt (mainly Wyatt) crap about girls but he could tell this was important to Jude. The fact that Mr. Laid-back was worried meant that this was a problem. "I understand. Is that all that's bothering you?" Jonesy asked. "No, but that is the biggest thing. The other thing is we had our yearly anniversary a couple months ago. With everything that's been happening she probably forgot, and that's cool, it doesn't bother me. But I don't want her to think I forgot. Actually, you mind if I let you in on a little secret?" Jude leaned in and whispered in a low voice, still serving the customers. "Go for it, man." Jonesy said, impressed at Jude's ability to multitask so impeccably. "Well, you know how Jen's been wanting the Snowathon 3000 for a while?" Jude whispered. "You mean that snowboard she wants?" Jonesy asked. "Uh-huh. Well I saved up for it and got it around the time of our anniversary. It's been sitting in my closet since then, I'm hoping I get the chance to actually give it to her." Jude told him. "No worries man, I'm sure you two can get together after finals week. Maybe invite her over at some point when you can that way you can give it to her and ask her to the dance, two birds with one stone." Jonesy said. Jude was surprised. Jonesy was usually terrible at giving advice but this was pretty good advice. "That's a great idea. Thanks, dude." Jude reached out his fist for another fist bump. "Anytime, dude. I'm gonna go look for another job. Later." Jonesy reciprocated the second fist-bump then left.
