The dark and gray storm clouds that seemed to be locked in place finally moved after what seemed like a month of darkness. The sun shining in the sky suggested that it was early morning and the sound of crows caws filled the air. Thanks to the sunshine the dreary landscape of rubble brightened up, although not by much. The strange blistered and three-eyed crows gathered around, pecking at a peculiar object on what appears to be a fallen rooftop of an old building. It seemed to be a small blue robot tucked into a statis lock of sorts, with its limbs and head tucked into the body with only its, what appears to be, solar panels exposed. The sun's rays made their way to the robot causing the panels to glow a bright blue and the head to make a start-up noise of sorts, scaring off the crows. The strange robot's limbs and head moved from their positions, revealing the robot's full body (as if there was a whole lot to look at.)
The little blue robot stretched and "yawned" "Jesus… how long was I out for...?" The robot talked in an unspecified East Coast dialect, he proceeded to look around for a second before it hit him "What the hell happened here!" He shouted with a feeling of great distress.
He started to pace back and forth with hands on his head "Easy Astro, easy… okay, okay you just took a nap on the wrong side of town that's all." Astro tried to keep his cool, but the sight of the city just kept throwing him into a panic. He eased his way down from the rooftop and stumbled along on a barren street. Astro looked up and around at all of the destruction, he couldn't believe his optics at the sight of it all, if he had a stomach it'd be turning right now. "Oh man, oh man. What did the hell happen? I don't remember Queens looking this bad. I hope someone's around…" Astro continued his way down the street, climbing over overturned cars along the way. If he had a nose he'd get a waft of rotten corpses mixed with burnt flesh.
The sun rose to its highest position in the sky, a murder of crows flew by heading east and the clouds gently traveled through the sky. Astro seemed to find himself on a crumbling and cracked expressway. Puddles pooled in various spots on the ground from the month's rain, Astro could only guess that it was either April or early May, but who could possibly tell. Astro halted in his tracks at the "end" of the expressway. His right foot stepped back into a puddle "Aw gross! What the hell else could happen!" Astro shook his foot in disgust causing him to lose balance. The poor robot tumbled all the way down from the ledge hitting every bit of rubble on the way. He faceplants onto the asphalt down below followed by a loud crash of a rock hitting his head. Astro managed to lift himself up, although a bit disoriented he caught something in the view of his optics it looked like a few shadowy figures - humans?
Astro's faceplate shaped a smile "Oh thank god! I'm a people 'bot anyhow!" Astro said as he raised himself from the ground and started clumsily running towards the shadowy figures. Astro managed to get a better view of the figures his smile disappeared rather quickly. Their humanoid shape remained the same, but anyone could plainly see that they weren't human… or at least used to be. They were grotesque and horribly deformed with various fluids that only God could know what they are. Flesh that seemed to melt together, empty eye sockets that dripped endlessly, an aimless gait, and even some had two heads or more fused together. Astro immediately hid behind an overturned car "Jesus dude, what the hell are those!?" He leaned up against the car "Maybe if I pass by quietly those things won't notice at all. Just gotta-" Astro tiptoed gently around from the car "Easy-" He watched for their reactions as he stepped ever so close to the creatures. While he gauged their reactions Astro did not see the large rock in front of him causing him to trip and triggering a response from one of the creatures. Astro let out a high-pitched scream before running as fast as he could from the horde of monsters. The monsters gave chase with their horrible gurgling and clicking noises, Astro spotted a potential hiding spot up head if he can make it before he's torn limb from limb. Astro occasionally looking back could've been his worse mistake as the monsters seem to get closer with each head turn, but he was so tantalizing close to the building. His continued panicked screams didn't help as they attracted more oozing abominations towards him, but he made it against all odds! Astro made his way inside then quickly barricade the entrance with anything he could find or move for that matter.
The interior of the building itself was completely dark except for the bluish glow of Astro's solar panels, the surrounding walls were cracked and falling apart a perfect match for the faded tile flooring. In front of Astro was a receptionist desk that was suffering from a serious case of dry rot while above it was the impression of letters and an emblem that Astro couldn't make out. The little bot wandered aimlessly around the lobby room until the floor beneath him caved in. Astro began falling down several floors, banging every part of his body on the way down. He finally landed after what seemed like it'd be an eternity "Well... that hurt. What fresh hell did I get myself into now…" Astro looked up from the ground "Whoa-ho what's all this then? Am I in some kind of secret basement?" Astro dusted himself off and decided to explore his new surroundings. The hallway was lined with empty charging stations of sorts only illuminated by dim red lights, Astro made his way down the hallway marveling at the peculiar sight. He was halted by a tall door that was a bit loose at the hinges, but thanks to Astro's unwavering curiosity he had the desire to open the door with all his might. Finally, with enough might and effort, the door gave in to Astro's desires and opened revealing the room behind it. The room was like the hallway before it, dark and dimly lit by eerie red lights, along the walls were monitors that barely functioned anymore and dusty control consoles surround the room except for one section of the room in the very back. Astro didn't know why, but he felt compelled to move towards whatever was back there. Whatever it was made Astro fall onto his backside, a simple "Whoa…" was all he managed to get out. In front of him stood a tall, humanoid, black and red robot that was hooked up to a charging station behind it. The giant eye in the middle of its face came on in an instant, the eye slowly scanned top to bottom suddenly stopping when it came eye-to-eye with Astro. That's when Astro knew he was in trouble...
