Deep in thought he didnt notice the guy aproaching him until he catched the glimpse of gold and black from the corner of his eye. He turned his head and saw Janus walking towards him. Virgils heart skipped more than a single beat. Obsession at first sight, how Remus would had put it.

He looked so gorgeous and elegant in his black hat and dark vest neatly closed over a golden Shirt, the sleeves rolled up to his ellbows. The silver chains on the chestpocket and grey jeans shimered in the light. His dark gloves with yellow seam and embroideries had something sinister to them. Janus was a man, who was very smart and observing, who was friendly and treated everyone he spoke to with respect, but never talked much about himself.

At college, Janus always drew a line of ironic smiles and platonic politeness between himself and others. He never spoke freely, every word was chosen with good care. He had a drink in his hand, but didn't smell of alcohol like most of the people around them, as he came close enough for Virgil to notice.

"Is this seat taken?" Virgil shook his head unabble to speak, as he quickly pulled down his hood. Janus's voice was deep and soothing, and his sent. Like a combination of roses and the start of the rain. Everything on him made his brain go all fuzzy.

Janus smiled slightly as he leant against the glas next to Virgil, his muscular arms crossed over his chest. He sipped his drink before he turned his head to him.

Virgil had a free view at the left side of his face and blind milky eye, which was surrounded by slightly pinkish and pale looking scar tissue. His scar had been the hot topic since the first semester and the rumors grew and grew more ridiculous with every day that passed.

Some even believed that he was a serial killer that liked torturing people in his basement and his eye was the revenge of a victim who managed to get away. Janus's habit of disappearing and reapearing during classes only added fuel to the rumors. Virgil never cared much about those storys, like the others. He loved mysteryies and Janus was the biggest living mystery to him yet.

"I believe we haven't met yet, I'm Janus", he was streching his hand out to Virgil, so he took it.

"V-Virgil. We had met before, actually more than once. We're in the same historyclass." Janus blinked at him in slight surprise, giving Virgil a proper look with his clear green eyes.

"Right, Virgil, the shy guy. Third row on the left. Nice to see you...again." He giggled before continuing in a more serious but worrying tone.

"How are you? I've heard about what happend during springbreak. I'm glad you're back. Though I have to admit I am a bit suprised to see you here. I never thought of you as the kind of guy that enjoys social gatherings like these."

Virgil couldn't speak. His brain still marveld about those light green eyes. He seemed so confident and relaxed, but not drunk, just enjoying himself and Virgil liked that sight of Janus even more. Janus frowned and tilted his head to one side.

His mouth twiched into a small smile. "I struck you speechless just by standing here and talking to you? I must be a serious eyecatch."

Virgil shook his head, as he noticed he was starring at Janus's face and cleared his throat with a slight blush.

"What? No. I mean yes. Of course you look good. You look prefect. Uh..." He took a deep breath before he totally embarassed himself.

"I'm felling great, now that I'm back at college. It was rough to catch up at first but Remus really helped me figure everything out, which was quite surprising not gonna lie." Virgil gave a moody sigh before he continued.

"But you're right. I usually hate partys and big crowds, but Remus thought we need a break and decided to have some fun, so here I am, 'having fun'." He smiled sarcastically before turning away, slightly ashaimed, not really beliving that he was really talking to him.

'The mystery' of all people but again, he would be the only one Virgil liked to had talked to at this hell hole of an party. Virgil glancing over the crowd for a moment to check for any unwanted visitors. When he turned back he noticed that something in Janus's pose had changed.

"And where is this wonderfull friend of yours now?" His tone had became cooler as well.

Virgil crooked his head to one side and looked around, following Janus kind of protective gaze. He could tell that Janus didn't like his best friend. He didn't blame him for it. After all, Remus was... unique as a person, to say at least.

"He went to get us drinks. He'll be right back." 'I think' Virgil added smirking at the not all to bizare thought that Janus could be jealous of Remus. But then again, wouldn't that mean that he had feeling for... Virgil grinned widely on the thought but shoked it right away before Janus could noticed as he put on a straight face to change the subject.

"What about you? Do you know someone from here who invited you or were you forced to come along as well?" Virgil asked kind of feeling confident and relaxed enough to keep the conversation going. Or at least trying to.

"Kind of both. My older sister asked me to come and visit her. It's her last year at college and she wanted to celebrate her birthday with me. It would have been rude to refuse, since she is my sister, but I would have prefered a restaurant then this party to celebrate, if I can be honest with you." They both giggeld in agreement.

"I'm sure she is still really happy to see you".

Janus nodded, "we were pretty close when she still lived at home .We kind of lost touch when she went to college." As the words had left his mouth, a woman maybe three years older than them aproached the two before laying one of her arms around Janus's hip.

"There you are little brother. Who is that friend of yours?" She asked looking at Virgil, who turned away.

She wore a golden dress that was clinging to her hips like a second skin. They both shared the dark blond hair and beautiful bright green eyes.

Janus gestured at his sister then at Virgil. "Jolene. Virgil. We are in the same historyclass." Jolene streched out her hand.

"Nice to meet you, Virgil."

"Same here."

They chatted a bit longer about the party and Jolenes birthday coming up. Virgil listend to the siblings teasing eachtother. He told them about his passion for philosophy and music, besides history. They laughed together as Jolene made fun of her english professor. It was in fact really nice and Virgil enjoyed every second of it.

It was the best thing that could had happen to Virgil and he wished it could last forever. Unfortunatly Janus had to go back to meet some friend that arrived late and excused himself with a bow in Virgil's direction, before he followed his sister down the hall. Virgil looked after Janus until he couldn't see him anymore in the crowd.

"Who are we looking at?" Remus said out of nowhere and stepped beside Virgil, scaring the shit out of him.

"Fucking christ, Remus. Don't sneak up on me like that!", he screeched, now really being on edge. The moment of peace destroyed.

"Why? Did I distract you from something or rather 'someone'." Remus smirked with a wiggling eyebrow as he followed Virgils gaze. "Oh ho, that some nice man over there. Good choice dear Gloomy."

"S-Shut up, dickhead." Virgil blushed embarrassed as he snatched one of the plastic cups out of Remus's hand and chucked the whole contence in one go, not even asking what it was.

Remus just stood there next to him, looking kinda surprised at the reaction, while taking a long sip of his own. In the meantime, Virgil was buisy thinking what the hell he just chucked down. It tasted like nothing he knew off, and was too scared of Remus telling him. So he just prayed and hoped for the best, like for the most things Remus made on his own or brought with.

"Wait! Wasn´t that Janus from our history class?!" Virgil jumped again, almost spitting the whole thing back out.

"Could you please stop yelling like that, I'm right next you." He wipped off his mouth on his slieve before continuing. "Yes it was Janus. He came to me right after you took of to get us drinks. We talked. That's it. End of the story!"

Virgil looked at his friend with cautious eyes. Remus smiled one of his wicked smiles and snapped his fingers.

"I knew it! You have a crush on him! Why didn't you asked him out on a date, ealier. Come on, let's go before he's gone!" Remus grabbed Virgil's hand whereupon Virgil suddenly managed to pull Remus back, swirling him around and against the wall behind him.

"ARE YOU CRAZY!" He shouted through the livingroom.

"You can't just walk over there, what if he-"

"What's going on here!?" An familiar voice interupted him, causing him to flinch. Virgil stood straighter than a pole frozen up. His mind was racing thinking about every possible outcome.
