Arthur was silent as he disappeared into the alcove. He could still hear Uther screaming about the fact that magic was evil and needed to be removed for good.

His mind went back to the little girl that had come to him. Her eyes told him everything. How is that evil?

How could it be?

The guards rushed down the corridor and Arthur gave a slight sigh when they passed him. How many more lives needs to be lost before Uther would be happy?

Arthur stopped when he hears voices. An irritated frown formed on his face. He pushed himself behind the pilar. He rather waits them out than put on a mask.

It felt like hours had passed before they moved on and Arthur was able to slip into his room. The door closed with a bang behind him. He stood still for a moment as his eyes scanned the room.

A soft sigh left his lips as he walked to the table, with easy movements he pulled the drawer out. He glared slightly at the trinkets before he put them on the table so that he could reach the secrete compartment.

The book stood out like a sore thumb. Quam ut daemonium et accersi.

For a moment Arthur wasn't sure if It would be wise to take the book out, he could still remember the urge that had formed in his heart the first time around. How he wanted to utter the words and just let be.

But the price is high to pay. Who says it would work out like he hoped it would? For all, he knows he would only lose his soul and get nothing in return.

Green eyes flash before his eyes and he knows deep in his heart that there was something to this. Without a thought, he pulled the book from the drawer. His thumb went over the words again.

But maybe it would also mean he would have a friend for real? Or would it be pretended only to have a meal in the end?

Arthur pinched the bridge of his nose as he looked at the book. Before he realises what was happening he opens the book.

No need for a ritual just a simple spell. Without a thought, he muttered the words: Magna voco. Sed tantum dic haec. Et dare animam est. Veni igitur ad Vetus verbum est magnus.

For a moment everything becomes quiet, not an insect could be heard. Just as sudden as the quiet came it disappeared as a cold wind tore through the room.

Arthur's hand's dug into the table, his eyes were wide as he looked at the figure in front of him. It was like a black mist that nothing would be able to get through.

The figure was distorted and all that Arthur really could see was the red of his eyes.

"What can I do for you child?" The voice was like thunder.

Arthur could feel the walls around his heart crumbling to the ground faster than light. "I- I want a friend." His voice broke slightly.

"You want a friend?" The figure almost sounded confused.

Arthur looked at the ground before he nodded, having lost his voice.

"You don't want riches? To rule the world?" The figure tilted his head slightly.

"No, sir. I just want a friend." Arthur looked at the figure before he took a step closer. Now that the adrenaline had calmed down slightly well the figure wasn't as intimidating as he thought.

"You know if we go through with this, your soul would be mine?" The figure's voice was now like a stormy sea.

"I know and I want to go through with it, please." Arthur's voice broke slightly.

The figure gave him a toothy grin before his form started to change.

Arthur took a slight step back as the figure took on a human form. His ears were too big for his head, but the blue eyes were warmer than a normal human's.

"My name is Merlin. Are you sure you want to enter the contract with me? I will be your friend and when you die I will take your soul?" Merlin's voice was low and slightly croaky.

"Yes. Yes Please." Arthur gave the demon a slight smile.

Merlin extended his hand and Arthur took it. A surge went through his body and then the world faded from his vision.
