The next day you went out early the moment you finished tending to your animals. You decided to buy more seeds after harvesting the ones you just planted, this time you have more money to buy a different variety of seeds. Along the way you heard a voice calling you "Y/N!", you looked behind and saw Rick catching up. "Hey, how's it going?", "Mom asked me to do some groceries, I'm heading to the supermarket", "That's where I'm also headed!", "Really? Mind if I accompany you?" "Sure no problem!" you smiled. As you two were walking together going to the supermarket, you exchanged stories and laughter. This went on for a month, you both got used to it like a schedule. Sometimes Rick would wait for you outside your farm so that you two can walk together going to the supermarket. One day after you two were going home already from the grocery run when he said "Wait, I think you should have breakfast with us tomorrow, it's mom's birthday and she'll cook a lot" , "Oh i'll try but I might be late, also is it really ok for me to come? I mean your mom-" he cut you off with "No it's fine, she doesn't have many visitors, besides you are already close to us" , "Alright then, see you tomorrow" with that you smiled and waved goodbye.
You cooked strawberry shortcake for Lilia the next day before heading out. You looked at the clock and noticed, Shoot! You're late! It's already 10am! You carefully packed the cake you made before hurrying to the Popoultry farm. "Happy birthday!" You gave the cake to lilia which she received delightfully "Thank you dear, have a seat". As you take a seat, you noticed that Rick and Popuri are still not yet around. "Um, may I ask where is Rick and Popuri?","Oh Popuri went to buy my medicine and Rick is upstairs just fixing his things, actually...I wonder what's keeping him so long.. Y/N dear can you check him upstairs and ask him to go down already?". You nodded and went upstairs, you knocked and you heard a faint voice of Rick say "come in". You slowly opened the door and revealed Rick sitting on his bed while holding a box with a wristwatch on it. He was about to cry as he was staring at it for a long time. "Rick what's wrong?" , Rick sniffles "I-it's just that..dad still hasn't come home yet for a couple of years now." You sat beside him. "He left me this watch before leaving, he said he will go find a cure for mom's disease but I-I don't even know if he already found one or if he's ever coming back, I just feel bad for mom, she always celebrates her birthday without dad...I just wish someday dad will come back during her birthday". You pat his back gently to reassure him and offer him your clean handkerchief to wipe his tears away. "Thanks" he smiled at you. "You know, I think you should keep this…" He gave you the small box where the wrist watch is. "I don't think I sh-", "no keep it for me, please?". You nodded in acceptance and carefully closed the box. "Dry your tears, your mom is waiting for you downstairs", "Y-yeah! Let's go'' Rick chuckles "You can go ahead, I'll just prepare my gift for her, tell her I'm coming down soon". You picked up the box and placed it in your bag as you head down to celebrate. Soon Rick and Popuri came to surprise their mom with gifts as well. It was a fun day. Nothing is more charming than a man who is not afraid to cry and express his feelings, you thought before sleeping. The more time you spend with Rick, the more you see who he really is and it just makes you fall for him more. Could this be more than just a crush now?
