"And here it says there are places covered in sand called deserts. Very interesting, isn't it? I would like to visit someday~. You'll come with me, of course! Ah, but maybe it will be too hot for you…"
"Meow…"
Outside, the light drops of a gentle spring rain showered the world. Kiriya was reading some books and commenting them every now and then, while Giyū was dozing off by his side, lulled by the soft rain.
The sound of light scratching made the boy look up from his book. At the other side of the room, Shinobu had suddenly become very interested in exploring what was under the cabinet. Ah, her ball had rolled underneath the piece of furniture and now she was trying to get it back. With her small size, it was quite easy for her. Giyū didn't like the cabinet: he once got stuck under it and they had to ask a Kakushi to lift it up to help him.
It has been already a few days since the small she-cat arrived in their lives. Unlike Giyū, Shinobu was quite lively, always exploring around, always asking them to play with her. She was quite noisy too, the sound of her high-pitched yet soft meowing replacing their otherwise silent afternoons. She had no problem settling in her new home and the child was pleased to see she was happy with them. The only problem was…
Shinobu pushed the ball and it finally rolled back into the room, stopping near Giyū. But when she approached him, he swiftly got up as if he wasn't sleeping at all and laid back down on Kiriya's other side. The boy couldn't help but let out a small sigh.
Giyū still hasn't shown any sign of friendliness towards Shinobu. On the contrary, he seemed determined to ignore her. He didn't change his routine upon her arrival. He would still go out in the morning to return before midday, and then spend the whole afternoon by the child's side. But if she tried to approach him, he would always move away. And if Kiriya and Shinobu were playing together, he would not approach them and he would wait for her to leave before getting closer.
This situation saddened Kiriya a bit. He really hoped his cats would get along together. So, he gently took Shinobu in his arms and put her down near Giyū. If it was him who tried to get them closer, the tomcat wouldn't try to leave right away.
"Come on, Giyū. Try to get along with her," the boy said, still hopeful.
But the cat just moved his tail in annoyance.
The movement was making Shinobu excited and, as any cat when seeing something that excited them, she tried to catch it. Before he could stop them, Giyū was already up on his paws, snarling and showing her his fangs.
"No, Giyū, stop! That's rude!" Kiriya promptly scolded him. The cat merely sniffed petulantly and turned his back on Shinobu.
Yet it did not end there. Growling, Shinobu suddenly jumped on Giyū, all claws out. It seemed like he managed to anger her. The cat let out a surprised gasp before quickly trying to scratch her back. Scared, Kiriya threw over them the cover of his futon as fast as he could, startling both cats and stopping their fight right away. They both ran away in opposite directions, Giyū near the open door to the garden, Shinobu beside the cabinet.
"Can't you try to be nice to each other at least just once?" He asked, saddened.
Yet the cats just kept throwing daggers at each other, until Giyū decided to leave the room and Shinobu to curl up in her corner.

~A few notes about this chapter:~
■ Actually, I don't know if it's a good idea to throw a blanket over two cats fighting, so please don't try to do it at home.
I hope you liked it nwn Also, don't be sad, they won't be mad at each other for too long uwu
See you~ nwn
