Emma stepped into a dark, shadowy room. A round table stood before her, covered in medical tools. As she neared it, a pale, blond body lay in the middle, soaking wet and dripping with vivid tubes and wires. Her green eyes filled with terror and she whirled around, only to come face-to-face with the white-haired man. The last things she saw were his hands, reaching out towards her face.

She gasped. Suddenly grasping for air that Emma hadn't realized she'd been holding in. The sounds of the morning bells filled the little house, and Emma shakingly got to her feet.

She made her way downstairs, only to be greeted by a bundle of smiling children.

"Emma!" Phil and Dominic raced towards her and tackled the girl in a hug.

At first, Emma wasn't sure how to react. Her emotions were so mixed up it hardly felt right to be happy any more. She caught Norman's cold blue eyes from across the room and he gave her a slight nod. It was clear to her what he meant.

"Good morning, you guys!" Emma grinned, hugging the two boys back. Better put on a smile, we don't want Mom getting suspicious.

She followed the boys into the dining hall, where all the children of Grace Field House were preparing for breakfast.

"Good morning, Emma!" Gilda waved to the flame-haired orphan.

"Good morning, Gilda!" She smiled back, after helping set out the plates.

Soon enough, every child was prepared to dig in to their breakfast, boiled eggs on toast and jam.

Emma felt a prickling sensation on the back of her neck.

Something is wrong.

She hadn't seen Mother all morning. That wasn't good.

Almost as soon as she had thunk it, Mother Isabella opened the front doors, followed in by a mysterious figure. Wrapped in the mother's arms was a warm bundle.

Many of the children gasped.

"Good morning children," Isabella smiled warmly. "This is our newest addition."

She held up the bundle, revealing a small baby with cool grey hair and a miniature horn on her forehead.

"She's like a little baby unicorn!" Sherry cried, petting the baby's head softly.

"Her name is Eri. And this is-" Isabella gestured to the mysterious figure beside her. "-Sister Krone. She'll be helping out around here for the time being."

Emma froze, her eyes locked on the new adult. Why did Mom hire a new Sister? Does she think one of us knows something? Is she getting suspicious?

After breakfast, Norman and Emma found themselves tucked away in the forest, out of sight.

"Do you think Mom knows that we know something?" Emma asked.

"Hm, I think she knows that one of us figured it out, but I don't think she knows which one." Norman said.

"Ah," Emma let out a short breath.

"I should tell you," Norman added. "I used my quirk on that man yesterday."

"You did? What did you find out?" Emma's eyes widened.

"I didn't have a lot of time to scan him, but from what I could discern, his quirk is called All for One." Norman explained.

"All for One," Emma repeated it. "And what does it do?"

"From the looks of it, he can take quirks away from and give quirks to other people." He relayed the information. "That must have been what he did to Conny."

"B-but how come she was-was-" Emma couldn't bear to say it out loud.

"I think it's because the act of taking away quirks from younger people can do fatal damage to the brain,"

"Oh," Emma looked down at her feet. "And what about that new Sister? Krone?"

"She has a basic muscular amplifier, though in her hands it can be pretty powerful," Norman said. "It'll be a lot harder to escape with her here."

"It will," Emma took a deep breath. "And that's why I think we should ask Ray for help."

"Why's that?" Norman asked. Although he had complete faith in his friend, it still felt wrong to place a heavy burden like this one on someone else's shoulders.

"Ask me for what?"

Ray stepped out of the shadows, seemingly unperturbed to find his friends whispering in the woods.

"Ray!?" Norman and Emma both jumped back in shock.

"Were you eavesdropping on us the whole time?" Emma poked the black-haired boy on the cheek.

He swatted at her hand, then shook his head. "Only the last part, about asking me for something."

"Oh," Emma stepped back and the two secret-keepers stood silent for a moment, debating their next move.

Im so sorry this chapter was so short and boring! I'll bring my A-Game next chapter for sure!

While you're waiting enjoy some Quirk Sheets!!

(Insert Present Mic voice)

Name: Norman

Quirk: Read (I know, real original)

He can scan anyone and know their quirk and its details. There was an incident when he was a child where he might've copied a sibling's quirk, so it was decided that he was to stay until he unlocked his quirk's full potential.

Name: Ray

Quirk: Twilight

He can travel between shadows seamlessly, popping up and around places without a thought. It's his main mode of transportation, which can really creep out his siblings.

As you can probably tell, this fic is an abbreviated version of the first season, with quite a few tweaks here and there. Trust me, it won't be a children's book version of the anime, but I just don't want to write out ever little scene that takes place, especially when it doesn't have enough BNHA incorporated.

Have a nice day and stay safe! (Also I just got vaccinated!! Woo hoo!)
