The early morning sun seeped through the open windows of the inn and the smell of breakfast floated up to the loft where the adventurers slept.

Twilight was awake first with the exception of Time, who none of the boys had ever caught asleep.

"Do you ever sleep, old man?" Twilight asked as he pulled his green tunic over his head.

"Or take your armor off for that matter." he added as he noticed his mentors untouched platemail still crusted with monster blood.

Time looked sharply at Twilight with an arched eyebrow.

"If I did sleep, who would be here to notice the knife you slip in your sleeve everynight?"

Twilight paused. "Ok, fair enough. But if you don't start taking care of yourself, I will tell Malon."

Time glared at the younger hero in silence for a few moments while Twilight stood his ground, as if daring Time to challenge his threat.

Time sighed and stood to go clean his armor muttering something about "should never have introduced them."

Twilight smiled softly as he watched Time walk off, and went to wake the other heroes.

Most of the boys were already awake and snickering at the conversation they had overheard between Time and Twilight. Wind jumped up and asked, "who's Malon, Twilight?" The others turned curiously to hear Twilight's answer.

"I'm sure you'll meet her someday." was all Twilight replied.

Hyrule finished getting ready and sighed. "Alright. Who's on Sky wake-up duty this morning?"

The others all pointed to Four and quickly left to receive breakfast from the innkeeper.

Fours eyes turned blue as he irritatedly stomped toward the somehow still sleeping chosen hero. He heaved the unconscious boy off the bedroll as he attempted to wake him up. Sky's eyes suddenly snapped open wide and bloodshot as he tackled the smallest hero to the ground.

"Sky!"

"Sky! It's just me!" Four said softly, his eyes turning from blue to crimson.

"Four? Oh goddess! Four I'm so sorry." Sky scrambled to help Four off the ground.

"I thought you were… oh never mind."

"It's ok Sky, we go through this every Switch in Hyrules. We all see things on our quests we wish we could forget." Four soothed.

"Though you really should wake up earlier. Come on, let's get breakfast."

When they descended the stairs they found the rest of the Links already eating. Time had cleaned and polished his armor, Wind was talking excitedly to Hyrule about his time with Tetra on the pirate ship, and Warriors was attempting to flirt with the innkeeper. Twilight and Legend watched Warriors, barely holding back fits of laughter as the young woman rejected him immediately, and left to help other customers.

Twilight swallowed his laughter and walked over to Warriors with a look of fake seriousness. He clapped him on the back saying "happens to the best of us."

Warriors just glared and finished eating his food with the last of his pride.

They left the Inn to look for information about this era's hero.

There was an old woman sitting next to a tree by the inn's entrance, and Time asked her about other Hylian villages.

The woman stared at Time for a moment. She was very clearly confused about the question before she answered.

"Hylian villages? I don't know where you're from, sir, but there's only the two left. Surely everyone knows that."

Time couldn't help but be startled by this, and wonder what had happened to destroy every Hylian settlement but two?

The others were shocked too. Most were in a stunned silence as they all realized that the need to find this new hero just became even greater.

Time recovered first and asked, "apologies, Ma'am. But me and my companions are from very far away, could you explain what happened here?"

The woman looked at them very suspiciously.

"Pardon my asking, but do you like bananas?" she questioned.

"This again?!" Legend yelled, exasperated. "What is your deal with bananas! No, we don't like them."

"Ah, no one can ever be too careful young man." The woman replied calmly.

"If you're looking for answers about the Calamity, find the Rito bard named Kass. He will help you. You're lucky. He was just visiting Hateno yesterday, he has not left the village yet."

Time thanked her and they started walking to the center of town in search of the Rito.

"So, that was unexpected." It was Hyrule that broke the thick silence first.

"I cant believe there are only two Hylian villages left. What do you think the Calamity is?" Sky asked as they walked. "Yeah! And what's the obsession with bananas for!?" Wind exclaimed, throwing his arms up in emphasis.

"I just hope this Kass person can actually give us some answers." Twilight stated as Fours eyes suddenly turned purple and he asked, "You don't think… maybe this era's hero has yet to finnish their quest?"

Twilight shook his head slowly. "That wouldn't explain why Hylia sent us here so late in our adventure." The others walked on for a while. Each hero lost in his own thoughts until Wind started jumping up and down with comically wide eyes. "Oh oh oooooh! I get it! What if the hero just finished their quest? That would explain why everyone is still cautious, AND why the man at the gate said that Gannon was gone!"

"Well we won't know for sure until we meet this Rito, but I think you might be right, Wind." Time said slowly.

"Speaking of the Rito, I think that's him." Legend said pointing to a bright blue Rito with colorful yellow chest feathers, and a giant accordion. He was standing under a tree singing to a small crowd. An old man on a stool, two women, and a few children running circles around him. He looked up at the newcomers as he finished his song, and the townspeople went back to their daily business.

"Welcome travelers! Have you come to take part in listening to the thrilling tales of the vanquished Calamity Ganon? I am a friend of the hero, and I have a first hand account of the mighty battle that took place only a few weeks ago!"

So, Wind was right. Time thought as he looked at the Rito, "You are Kass, correct?"

"Yes! That is I." Kass replied enthusiastically.

"Could you tell us about the Calamity?" Sky asked.

Kass looked puzzled. "You mean you do not know of the Calamity? Of the Hero?"

Time was getting really tired of this. "No." he said, rather colder than he ment.

"My, aren't you strange ones then! I would be delighted to sing you a ballad of the Calamity! But first, what is your favorite food, sir?"

Legend slapped the palm of his hand to his forehead.

Time kept his face emotionless as he answered, "Spicy mushroom skewer."

The others all snorted in amusement when Kass cried, "What a lovely choice! Now I shall sing you the Final Song!" and sprung into the music with his accordion with a flourish.

An ancient hero, a calamity appears

Now resurrected after 10,000 years

Her appointed knight, gives his life

Shields her figure, and pays the price

The princesses love for her fallen knight,

Awakens her power of golden light,

As the calamity rears its head in fright.

But the knight survives.

In the shrine of resurrection he sleeps,

until from his healing dream he leaps

For fierce and deadly trials await

To regain his strength, and fulfil his fate.

To become a hero once again,

To wrest the princess from evil's den.

As the final lyrics were sung, and the accordion faded into the background, the heroes fell into an uncomfortable silence, processing this new flood of information. The silence was only broken when Wind asked softly,

"The hero… he died?!"

"Yes." Kass said solemnly. "But death has never stood in Links way before!" This time his voice was back to being cheerful, and Time noticed that he had several notes of pride in his voice when he spoke about the hero.

Kass continued, "if you're interested, you should know that the hero was in a constant state of unconsciousness for 100 years before being fully healed. The shine isn't magic afterall."

"100 years!" Hyrule, Wind, Warriors, and Legend yelled at once.

"Looks like we're going to have a new Old man in the group, eh Time?." Legend joked.

Time ignored Legend and turned back to Kass.

"If you're friends with the hero- er, Link. Could you tell us where he lives now that the calamity is gone? It's very important we find him"

Kass hummed in thought.

"Well, he has a house here in Hateno, but none of the villagers have seen him since the calamity was vanquished. I don't know where he lives now, he most likely disappeared into the wilderness. He never was one for castle life, so he wouldn't be with Queen Zelda."

"Well that's useless! How are we supposed to find him if no one knows where he is!?" Legend exclaimed.

Kass gave a sigh, leaned down and said quietly, "I never said no one knows where he is."

"So there's someone who does know?" Time pried. Matching Kass's low tone.

"Yes. If you really must find him, go to Tarrey Town. There, find someone named Bolson. He and Link had a very close relationship, if anyone knows where Link is now, it's him.

But I'll warn you. Link has many friends in this world. All of whom own him their lives, and are willing to protect him, even if he doesn't need it. If you mean him any harm, it would be wise to forget everything you learned today." With those final words, Kass started walking down the path striking up a jonty tune on his accordion.

"Well. Now we have a location." Twilight said, startling the others from the silence once again.

Wind rocked on his heels as he said, "YES! We're finally getting somewhere!"

Time just shook his head as they started walking.

"So..." Warriors drawled. "Anyone know where Tarrey Town is?"
