Disclaimer: Here is chapter two. Also a short chapter. I hope to get a few up to give this story the starting it deserves. Hopefully you enjoy it.
Percy calmed his nerves. He could do this. The twins set off the prank and he could hear his mother shouting at them, and he quickly took Harry's hand flooing to Diagon Alley. After finding out that Harry had never floo'd before he chose to go at the same time since it was too risky otherwise. Harry being a celebrity made him nervous to risk being too far away from the preteen, not to mention the fact that they could be caught if his mother found out. They needed to move quickly.
Getting to Gringotts was easier than he had expected. Breaking the rules seemed to run much more smoothly than he thought it would. They waited in line and no one really looked there way or paid them any attention. Too busy going about here days. It was rather anticlimactic as they finally reached the front of he line.
Harry looked to Percy who spoke up with more confidence than he had thought he had. "We need to speak with the head of the family accounts," Percy said knowing exactly what they needed. "For a true naming ritual."
The goblin was blunt and to the point. "10 galleon fee."
Percy showed he had the money as they went. Harry's eyes widened knowing the Weasleys did not have a lot of money, ten galleons was a lot of money. "Percy, I don't want you to spend your money on me."
"Don't worry about it," Percy said. "Its my money to do with what I choose. Don't stress about it okay."
"I'll pay you back," Harry promised shocked that the older boy would do that for him. "I promise."
Percy gave him a slight smile surprised by the offer but just nodded. It wasn't the point. They went to the room; the goblins drew the blood and did the ritual. It was rather fast and painless, but the moment it finished, it was clear the goblins were extremely shocked at the result. "I know the answer, just confirm are you calling the DLME, I'll explain to him, I swear it," Percy said. "His results show the Woods.".
"Confirmed," he said before leaving.
Now Harry was confused. Was that supposed to happen? And why would he call someone else. Harry wasn't sure what the DLME was, but he guessed it wasn't a normal result by the way the goblin looked at him and how nervous Percy was. "What's confirmed, what's going on?"
"Okay, I tricked you," Percy said as Harry pulled away confused and Percy nearly smacked himself, not the best way to start likely. He continued quickly so Harry didn't try to run. He looked nervous enough that he could. "Not like you think. I saw the mark on your back, but it is complicated. I know someone else with that unique markings. Its familial as you know. But it is in direct families, really old families. I didn't tell you that Muggleborns are blanks."
"What's a blank." Harry guessed that it didn't sound good. He didn't expect a Weasley to be insulting about that though so he hoped the older boy would explain quickly.
"No mark, new families and muggleborns, or half-bloods don't have the mark. No one knows why but muggleborns cut off the mark. Your marks not a Potter mark. it means you couldn't be the son of James and Lily Potter. They might have adopted you but there is only one child with that marking."
He was saying that Harrys parents weren't his parents. How could he be adopted, everyone said he looked like his dad but had his mother's eyes. It didn't make sense at all. "I don't understand."
"In 1980, a little boy went missing. He was not even a year old. He was kidnapped. I know that mark since my best friend has the same. it was his baby brother that was kidnapped. It was during the war, but no one knew who had him. He would be your age now. Harry Potter doesn't have a mark...or shouldn't. That either means you were adopted, or someone used you to take his place. It was before the Potters deaths, but the results show that you are that missing boy."
"I still don't understand," Harry said. "That sounds insane."
"It means you have family. What is worth that? I saw the scar's Harry. I saw them. What is worth never having to go back to those muggles again? Having two parents and a brother?"
Harrys eyes widened at that. "I... anything's worth it. I'd do anything."
"Will you forgive me for tricking you?" That shouldn't be important, but Percy did feel bad for breaking the boy's trust.
"I'm not going to be in trouble," Harry asked, and Percy shook his head. "I'll never have to go back?" The idea of never going back to the Dursley's was beyond what he had hoped. And having a family. It was overwhelming but he wanted it, badly.
"That paper declares you as a victim of kidnapping with two very alive parents," he stated. "You'll go to them. And seeing as you weren't even a year old then it is not you who would be in trouble. It will be whoever took you."
"Does that mean my mom and dad...Lily and James did it?"
That brought up more questions that Percy was definitely not equipped to handle. "I don't know," Perc admitted. "But I know Oliver said his parents knew it wasn't death eaters. That they had some in the family...so it was not he who must not be named people. I don't know why they would but maybe. I cannot answer that, Harry. I am already in so far over my head it is not even funny here. I am only 16. I really don't know what to do."
Sometimes, Percy seemed so much older, but Harry realized he wasn't even an adult yet. Still, Harry did not want to be alone for this. It scared him to admit but he really did not want to be alone. "Just...you'll stay with me?"
"Promise," Percy said. That at least was something he could do.
