Nathan sighed as he waited for her. He tried to play it cool. His heart racing. His palms slick with sweat. He wiped them on his jeans. The sun sank behind him, casting splashes of colour across the ground. He checked his phone in case his mochi texted him. 5:02pm. His thoughts lingered on her. Recalling her every feature in startling detail, which only made him sink further, in love with her. Had colours been so mesmerizing before? Had he truly seen colours before the moment their eyes met?
She arrived. Her long sweater sleeves covering her hands. A camera bag over one shoulder. Nathan was speechless. Her cheeks kissed by roses, like spring flowers emerging from a thawing meadow.
"I'm sorry I took so long, pumpkin." She gushed, struggling to find the words.
She felt like a dork. She had been staring at her photographs until she felt light headed. But something had been missing from the pixels. That something had caring, blue eyes and strong arms.
She was enchanted by those blue eyes. They were beautiful like…Beatz could not describe it. She was photographer. For the first time in her life, she was able to see colours. To truly feel them. Nathan embraced her. It felt like a dream. She would have pinched herself, if she was not enjoying it so much.
Oh god, this is embarrassing. She fretted internally. She went to hide her face in her scarf but realized that in her clumsy dash to meet him, she left it at home. I'm such a clutz. What am I going to do? It's okay. I like wintery nights.
She may have not been trying to seduce him, but he was infatuated. Even the nervous way she swept her bangs behind her ear, the way she gnawed her bottom lip. The awkward way she stood like a newborn foal. Unsteady on its gangly legs. Her smile was brighter in person. He wished he could trade places with the strap of that camera bag. The way she dug her nails into the strap, wringing it with nervousness. He looked forward to uncovering her deepest, darkest secrets and desires.
"You wanted to show me a sunset?" Her first with someone she loved.
"Literally mesmerizing." He nodded, trying to coax the turtle out of her shell, "But not as mesmerizing as you." How had he not felt his heart melt for Beatz before? They worked together.
He offered his hand and she took it without hesitation. While she watched the sunset, her eyes wide with a child like wonder, he watched her. The way the colours haloed her. The woman of his dreams. She sneezed, her breath billowing from her soft lips like smoke from the mouth of a sleeping dragon. The mist fogging her glasses. She blindly fumbled for his hand.
"You look cold. Hold still." Beatz closed her eyes. Her heart skipping a beat.
Nathan shrugged out of his coat and draped it around her trembling shoulders.
"Thank you." She murmured. "I'm so silly. I forgot my scarf."
Nathan smiled, his fingers tracing sensually down her stomach and over her thigh. Her stomach twisted itself like a pretzel with every slow, deliberate movement of his fingers. Beatz flushed scarlet, hiding behind a curtain of blue hair. Just like his eyes. She leaned against him, her own hand found itself under his shirt as if it had a mind of its own. He chuckled, taking her lips in his. His fingers continued to play with her. Beatz could not restrain herself. Her lips parted for his tongue. She cried out, surrendering herself to his advances. His lips over powered hers, crushing down on them. Stealing the breath from her lungs. Starving her brain of oxygen. She was too scared to mess this up. His musk enveloping her like a warm blanket on winter's night. His jacket slipping off her shoulders. She did not mind in the slightest. She felt like she was on fire. Burning like a star. Beatz spread her wings for the first time. Soaring above the clouds. New feelings stirring in the pit of her stomach.
Her vision blurred when she tried to look at him. Even his eyes seemed a mile away. Staring into her soul. Her glasses safely folded up and set aside as the affectionate kissing and petting transformed into something…something beyond her comprehension. Nathan's large hand tousled her long hair. His lips meandered down the side of her neck. She mewled out. Arching at his touch. He gently suckled her skin. That was going to leave a mark or two in the morning. His lips continued down her collarbone. Nothing her trusty scarf couldn't hide. Sunsets were mesmerizing, like he said. As he continued to fawn over her, he spoke to her just the way she liked it. Dirty. The oranges and reds made way for the dusk and a sprinkling of stars. A picture-perfect evening. One of many to come.
