DISCLAIMER: I own none of these characters or their respective universes. This fanfiction is also up on AO3 if you prefer reading there.
I grinned in triumph at my latest achievement. One that would rival even my feats of saving the world twice over. Maybe more than twice if I counted the quests I tagged along on after my so called "retirement". And as it might shame me to admit, perhaps even just as, or a tad bit more awe-worthy, than when I finally got together with my beloved Annabeth.
I could finally crawl!
Granted, my annoying twin brother had managed to perform this feat before me... But nothing would douse my excitement over this accomplishment.
Feeling my legs growing weary, I promptly plopped myself down onto the ground and laid down in satisfaction. I thought back to my own children, and the days when they learned to crawl themselves. Such great memories...
I felt a tear roll down my cheek and desperately tried to wipe it off before someone saw me-
Alas, Arthur rounded the corner, crawling on all fours. He stared at me for a full second before giving me a trouble-maker smirk that was undeniably teasing me for crying like a baby. Which was ironic since, well, I'm a baby.
Art then proceeded to crawl off to the direction of the study room. How neither of our parents had figured out that he goes there I had no idea. I would have crawled after in hot pursuit as well, however it seemed that the Fates had cursed me to still have dyslexia and ADHD even in this new world. However this got me thinking about what other special things about me I might have retained from my old world... But we'll get to that later.
Speaking of this new world. Apparently it really was like some sort of DnD fantasy world where monsters and adventurers existed. It was like a page right out of my adventurous dreams. And even better, this time I won't be the only one being hunted by monsters!
As it turns out, my father, Reynolds Leywin, was a former adventurer, and a good one at that too. According to the stories he told me and Art, he was part of several adventurer parties that went on frequent expeditions and missions. He proudly boasted about how my mother fell head over heels for him at first sight when he met her at an Adventurer's Guild hall. But from the way she slapped him across the back I sincerely doubted it. It brough back memories of Annabeth's judo flips too...
I sincerely missed my old life, as well as my old friends and family. Some part of me wished I didn't get reincarnated here and just ended up in Elysium with Wise Girl. But... I knew deep down that the call of adventure enticed me just as much.
I groaned in annoyance, knowing this whole internal struggle would become an extreme pain for me in the future. If anything maybe I should have just had my memories wiped before arriving here... Hopefully I'm not foreshadowing anything at least.
But now, back to me and my special abilities! I had tried reading some books in the study room like Arthur, but my dyslexia made it extremely painful for me to do so. Hopefully there was some sort of magical spell here that could fix my eyesight or something.
After strenous concentration, the only information I managed to pick up was that this world was severely underdeveloped compared to the one I lived in, and was filled to the brim with magical superpowers. According to what I read, they could channel this magic using mana. That was about everything I managed to understand before the floating words gave me a migraine. I then passed out as I dreamt of medieval happy meals.
I sauntered up to the bathroom mirror, one which was just a shiny and reflective metal sheet, to get a good look at my new body. My hair was still black, but more of a brown-black than the jet-black it used to be. And my eyes were now a bright azure color, almost identical to my brothers.
'Great, that's all I need. Another thing I need to have in common with that annoying guy. I swear to the gods we're definitely gonna end up in fights once we're older.'
But alright, I'll finally tell you guys about how I discovered my special powers. Which, now that I think about it, aren't really that special to me since I've had them since I was born in my previous life.
I still had my demigod powers!
While I had no idea if my body was physically enhanced like it used to be, and I definitely wasn't keen on testing that out with a toddler's body, I had managed to use some of my water and earth powers.
Of course, being a loving and caring brother, I made Arthur my test subject. Not that he was aware of his important role in my training. It's not like I was putting his life in danger anyways. Just manipulating water to douse it on his head while he reads his books, or shaking the ground whenever he's crawling to make him lose his balance and plop unceremoniously onto the ground. Nothing evil at all to see here.
Sadly, my powers seemed to take an extreme toll on my body, so I didn't get to train it much. So whenever I get tired, I just crawl over next to Arthur and watch him read his books. Its not much, but its entertaining I guess. I could already envision what the future would behold if things kept going the way they did. Arthur would probably end up some genius brainiac and I'd have to be the muscle. Which was fine by me since my brain was full of kelp anyways.
Arthur didn't seem to mind when I just lazed around next to him, although I'm pretty sure he gave me a few glances every now and again to make sure I wasn't up to any mischief.
A few minutes later though, Arthur suddenly got into a meditating position reminiscent of Buddha. You know, if Buddha was a toddler that had hair and wore a diaper.
His face scrunched up in concentration, and power seemed to vibrate from within him-
"There you are! Art, honey, are you having trouble taking a poopy?"
My brother's face turned red and I held back a snort as he was lifted up and taken away.
'In this world... I'll get stronger. And one day, Wise Girl, I'll find my way back to you.'
A/N: Okay so first off. Extremely sorry for the long wait for this chapter. I originally planned to release a chapter once a week, but got bombarded with schoolwork and had a horrible case of writer's block. That aside, I'm now back and will make up for the past 2 months by uploading a couple of chapters this week. Tysm for the kudos and comments. This chapter I decided to try a first person pov for Percy to see which you guys like better. See you guys next chap!
